Kumayl Ibn Ziyad was a prominent companion of Ameer al Mo'mineen, Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS) and this sublime Dua was first heard from the beautiful, though anguished, voice of Imam Ali.
According to Allama Majlisi, Hazrat Kumayl had attended an assembly in the Mosque at Basra which was addressed by Imam Ali in which the night of the 15th of Shaban was mentioned. Imam Ali (AS) said-:"Whosoever keeps awake in devoutness on this night (15th Shaban) and recites the Dua of Prophet Khizr, undoubtedly that person's supplication will be responded to and granted."
When the assembly at the Mosque had dispersed, Hazrat Kumayl called at the house where Imam Ali (AS) was staying and requested him to inform him of Prophet Khizr's Dua. Imam Ali asked Kumayl to sit down, record, and memorise the Dua which Imam Ali dictated to Kumayl.
Imam Ali then advised Kumayl to recite this Dua on the eve of (i.e. evening preceding) every Friday, or once a month or at least once in every year so that, added Imam Ali: "Allah may protect you from the evils of the enemies and the plots contrived by impostors. O' Kumayl! in consideration of your companionship and understanding, I grant you this honour of entrusting this Dua to you."

The Excellence of the 3 Sacred Months:
Rajab, Sha'ban and Ramadhan
explained by Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini (ra).
In this clip, Ayatollah Khomeini (ra) also spoke about Munajat Sha'baniyyah.
The days of the months of Rajab, Sha'ban, and the holy month of Ramadhan are some of the most sacred days in the Islamic calendar. The Holy Prophet of Islam (SAWW) and our Aimmah Tahireen (AS) have shown the importance of these months through numerous hadiths. It is our responsibility to take advantage of the benefits of these months, as they come and go very quickly. Asking Allah SWT for forgiveness, fasting, and reciting and contemplating the verses of the Holy Qur'an are just a few actions (among many) that we can perform to purify our hearts and gain nearness to Allah SWT.
Munajat (Whispered Prayer) of Ameerul Mo'mineen, Imam Ali ibne Abu Talib, also known as Munajat of Masjid e Kufa - in English and Urdu translation
Recited by Haaj Mahdi Samawati - الحاج مهدي سماواتي
This Whispered Prayer is very similar to a monologue, recited by Imam Ali (a) addressing God. The Imam (a) highlights and emphasises that God is the only one who can bestow on us mercy, as He is the Creator, the Infinite, and the Great, whilst we are the created, the finite, and the lowly. It is a very moving and heart- trembling supplication.

يبو صالح كلنا محتاجين للدعاء منك بالله لو نظرة
Oh Aba Saleh [Imam Mahdi], we all need your prayers, even if it's a glimpse...
Recited by Sayed Ahmad al-Mousawi
Kindly translated by MHFJ (please remember him in your noble prayers)
Near the end of the video, Sayed mentioned an individual by the name of Sheikh Abu Sami. He is known as Sheikh Ali Salman, who is the Secretary General of the Wifaq (Shia) political party in Bahrain. He was arrested in 2014 and is in prison for life for his political activism against the government. May Allah SWT by the sake of Imam al-Mahdi (AJTF) resolve his case. He is such a strong man, may Allah give him more strength. Ameen.

Dua Tawbah of Imam Zainul Abideen (peace be upon him and his holy family) in English and Urdu translation
This supplication is taught by the fourth Imam, Imam Zainul Abideen (a) and is Du'a no.31 in Saheefa as-Sajjadiyyah. The Dua is a touching plea by one who acknowledges the enormity of the sins he has committed. His hope lies only in the mercy and forgiveness of Allah.
Using Qur'anic concepts of repentance, and its acceptance, Imam teaches us how to be sincere in seeking it. The Dua reiterates the conditions of repentance, the physical signs present on a true repenter, and the legitimate hopes given to one who truly seeks forgiveness. It is a beautifully elegant way of expressing the remorse and hope of a faithful believer who has sinned.
“There is nothing more beloved to Allah than a believer who is repentant, male or female.” [Holy Prophet (s)]
(when describing those who repent) . . “they planted the trees of their sins in front of their eyes and hearts, and watered them with the water of regret. They gained the fruits of peace, followed by the pleasure of Allah, and respect (in His eyes).” [Imam ‘Ali (a)]

Hazrat Abbas: The Lion of the Bridge - Sheikh Mohammed Abbas Panju with English Subtitles
السلام عليك يا مولاي يا سبع القنطرة يا أبا الفضل العباس ورحمة الله وبركاته
Hazrat Abbas was the son of Imam Ali Ibne Abi Talib. His mother's name was Fatima, who was also known as "Ummul Banin". She was the daughter of Huzam Ibne Khalid, an illustrious person of the Kalb-a tribe, which was distinguished for it chivalry.
Hazrat Abbas was born in Medina on 4th Sha'baan 26 A.H. When the news of his birth reached Imam Ali, he prostrated himself on the ground as a token of his humble thanks to Allah. Imam Hussain took the baby in his arms and recited the Adhaan and Iqamaah (call for prayers) in his right and left ears respectively. Then the new-born baby opened his eyes to see the face of Imam Hussain, before looking at anyone else.
On the 7th day of his birth, the ceremony of Aqeeqa (which is one of the emphasised tradition) was performed and Imam Ali named him Abbas.
Hazrat Abbas was a towering and handsome personality. His dauntless courage, supreme confidence and unflinching loyalty earned him many titles. He was called "Qamar-e-Bani Hashim" (the moon of the Hashemites), because of his imposing appearance.
His remarkable horsemanship made him "Syed-ul-Forosan" (the chief of horseman). His ability to lead people resulted in his being called "Rais-ul-Shujan" (the leader of the valiant), and the manner in which he sacrificed his life earned him the title "Afzal-ul-Shohada" (the choicest of the martyrs) and "Saqqa" (water carrier), because he sacrificed his life in an effort to procure water for Imam Hussain's children in the tragic battle of Karbala. He fully lived up to his name Abbas, which in Arabic stands for Lion.
Imam Jafar Sadiq (A.S) has said: "I bear witness, O Abbas, that you have reached the zenith of of perfection in the matter of self-resignation, loyalty and obedience.
Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (A.S) has said: "May Allah shower His blessings on my uncle Abbas. The manner in which he laid down his life for his brother, Imam Hussain, showed supreme self-sacrifice. He fought valiantly to protect Imam Hussain, and it was only after he lost both his arms that he fell. Allah re compensated him by conferring upon him in heaven, two wings to fly with. Verily, the place of Hazrat Abbas before Allah is so high, that all the martyrs will envy him on dooms-day"

It is related in the book "Misbah" that the best time for reading this prayer is after the morning nafila prayer. Another tradition by Allama Majlisi states this dua is the 'taqeeb' of the morning prayer. The supplication of dawn is one of those soul-elevating prayers to the Almighty, which reflect the sublimity, piety, and high literary standard of Imam Ali's (A) style and diction. Dawn is the best time of prayer, repentance and invocation of the sustainer of the
universe, when the doors of the heavens are opened and all creatures receive their sustenance from Him. It is a privilege of the Muslims to be commanded to stand up in all humility before their Maker everyday, at the first streak of dawn: to glorify their Lord and Master and to beg of Him not only material but also spiritual sustenance.
So particular was Imam Ali (A) about prayers at dawn that on his death-bed he called upon the red glow of the morning to bear witness that never in his entire life had morning appeared in the sky to find him sleeping. May his followers try to emulate his radiant example.

An excerpt of Dua Wida of Imam Zayn al-Abideen (AS) recited by Sayed Ahmad al-Mousawi
According to Ayatollah Mirza Jawad Maliki Tabrizi (r), he writes: "The other important etiquette of the last night is to farewell the Holy Month of Ramadhan, to be sad, feel regret because of its parting, and recite most of the elegant prayers and supplications which have been narrated for this occasion by the Impeccable ones (M'asumin [a])."
