Story of the honey bee, a narration answered by Ayatollah Khoei (may Allah SWT have mercy upon him) to a student who asked him a question about his time and life- explained by Sheikh Shabbar Mehdi [ENG SUBS]

Grand Ayatollah Seyyid Abulqasim Musawi Al-Khoei (RA) was born in Azerbaijan, Iran 15 Rajab 1317 H. / 1899 A. D. and passed away in Najaf Al-Ashraf, Iraq on 8 Safar 1412 A.H.(August 8, 1992). Educated in the established traditional way of Shia Theology by well known jurists, he joined the world-renown theological institution in the holy city of Najaf Al-Ashraf in 1912, the year he migrated from Iran. At an early age, he attained the degree of ijtihad i.e. the process of arriving at judgements on points of religious law using reason and the principles of jurisprudence. This achievement normally warrants the title of ‘Ayatollah’.

He taught in Najaf for over 70 years. For 50 years, he specialized in supervising post-graduate studies, most advanced among which is ‘Bahth-al-Kharij’ – Graduation Classes – equivalent to a Doctoral thesis. Successful candidates are qualified to practice ‘Ijtihad’.
He is considered as the architect of a distinct school of thought in the priciples of jurisprudence and Islamic law, and one of the leading exponents of ‘kalam’-scholastic theology- and ‘rijal’- study of the biographies of transmitters of ahadith, the Prophetic traditions, ‘fiqh’- jurisprudence- and ‘tafseer’- exegesis of The Holy Qur’an. His interests included astronomy, maths, and philosophy.

He was a prolific writer in the aforesaid disciplines. He wrote 37 books and treatises, most of which have been published. His works include:

- Lectures in the Principles of Jurisprudence – 10 volumes.
- Biographies of Narrators of Tradition – 24 volumes.
- Islamic Law – 18 volumes.
- Al-Bayan fi tafsir al-Qur’an (The Elucidation of the Exegesis of The Qur’an).
- Minhaju-us-Saliheen (The Path of the Righteous) – 2 volumes, reprinted 78 times (guide book on religious practice and law).
- Anthology of Religious Questions – Concise version of the Path of the Righteous – in Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, English, Turkish, Thai, Malay, Indonesian, and Gujarati.
- Mabani al-Istinbat ( Edifices of Deduction) Principles of Jurisprudence.
- Ajwad-at-Taqrirat (The Best of Regulations) Principles of Jurisprudence.
- Sharh-el-Urwatul-Wuthqa (Commentary on The Steadfast Handle) – Jurisprudence.
- Treatise on Suspected Attire – Risala fil Libas Al-Mashkok,
- Evidential Jurisprudence.
- Nafahat-ul Ijaz ( the Fragrance of Miracles ), in defence of The Noble Qur’an.

Dua Makarimul Akhlaq (The Honorable Morals) - in English and Urdu translation.

This supplication has been taught by our fourth Imam, Imam Zainul Abideen A.S and is a clear indication of the loftiness of moral virtues expected of a believer. Islam believes in the elevation of the human being, that a human is a great and dignified creation, far above the animal world. One of the signs of this dignity is the possession of noble and magnanimous qualities.

In order to achieve this behavioural excellence, man needs to overcome his base and selfish attributes, and cultivate noble qualities. In this Dua, the Imam specifies these qualities, and shows how we can try to inculcate (implant) them in ourselves. Taken as a lesson in Akhlaq, the Dua is a wonderful program for those who wish to excel in good manners. (source: al-islam.org)

Would highly recommend my dear brothers and sisters to read a book: 'In the Presence of the Beloved', by Agha Misbah Yazdi - for it contains commentaries on the three beautiful supplications: Dua Iftitah, Dua Abu Hamzah Thumali and Dua Makarimul Akhlaq.

Maulana Sayed Talib Hussain Mosavi's message to the Manqabat and Noha reciters.

Ayatollah Sayed Ali al-Sistani:

Question: Is it permissible to listen to revolutionary songs accompanied by sounds of piano, lute, drum, wind-pipe, and electronic piano?

Answer: If the music accompanying it is that *which is suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings*, it is not permissible to listen to it.

https://www.sistani.org/english/qa/01246/

Recent response by the Istifta Section, Office of His Eminence Al-Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani

In the Name of Allah, the Most High

It is not permissible to play or listen to music that is suitable for entertainment, amusement gatherings and dancing. [The crucial line is in it [music] being commensurate (equivalent) with the gatherings of entertainment and moral depravity.] Other types of music such as those that are used in army, the epic music and the music that is used for mourning are allowed. If classical music is included in the first category, then it is haram, otherwise it is not, and it is better to exercise precaution in regards to such type of music.

May Allah grant you success.

In the name of Allah, One should fear Allah and avoid ll the prohibited acts such as singing as it is forbidden even it is in reciting the Holy Quran, praising Ahlulbait (PBUH)or the poetry on the tragic events . Also, using amusement instruments whose sound is similar to that of the singing is forbidden. Allah knows best.

(Excerpt of the lecture)
When the respected Di’bal ibn Ali al Khuzai comes in the presence of the Imam Ja’far, the Imam stands up for Di’bal and says
“Welcome to our helper who helps us through his through his hands, heart and tongue!”
Is there any poet like this today who truly helps the A’imma with his heart and tongue?
All these ‘singers’ (and those who work with music in the background) are nowhere near the dust under the feet of Shaheed Sibte Jafar Zaidi.
What a great poet he was! What a great style and manner he had! Shaheed’s rank is not less than that of Di’bal. He was the Di’bal of South Asia.
God have mercy on him, and may God raise him with the Ahlulbayt!

The Philosophy of Awaiting for Imam Mahdi (A.S) explained by Professor Muhammad Shojaee, with English Subtitles.

In the short excerpt of the lecture by Ustad (Professor) Muhammad Shojaee, he speaks about the importance of paying attention to the Hussain of our time and how we should be able to respond to his call - "Is there a helper who helps me?" Our Imam of the Time, is "lonely, rejected, displaced and abandoned" by his friends but we should adopt certain qualities and responsibilities to be the friend and the helper of our Imam (A.S).

(This verse is from the Ziyarat of Imam Mahdi (ATFS) on Fridays) -

Come! Let us recognise our aim and objective, which is only helping the Imam; and dedicate our life for this aim, as he is the watcher over us from Almighty Allah SWT. He is the eye of God and when the Divine Proof includes us in his supplication, how important it is for us that we should prepare the background for his reappearance. In this lies the pleasure of Lady Zahra (S.A) and it is through this reappearance that the heart of Ameer al-Mo'mineen (A.S) will get relief, and it is during the rule of this patronage that divine justice would be established.

Sermon of Al-Muttaqeen by Imam Ali (AS) - in Najhul Balagha (Sermon 193)

recited by Murtada Qurish
(Original video: https://youtu.be/84J3UVNouh0)

Al-Muttaqeen sermon is one of the most famous sermons of Imam Ali (AS) in which he describes pious Muslims. The sermon characterizes the pious so well in their personal and social life that at the end of the sermon, Hammam, the Imam's companion who had asked about the characteristics of the pious, loses consciousness and passes away.
(Also, it is called the sermon of Hammam, as he was the cause of the delivering of this sermon)

The Whispered Prayers, is a collection of 15 intimate conversations with Allah SWT and the 15 Whispered Prayers are extracted from the book of Imam Zainul Abideen A.S - known as Sahifa Sajjadiya, also known famously as the Psalms of Islam.

Munajaat means "talking" or "having a conversation". In this case, it is the intimate conversations of our Imam with his Lord. Conversing with God regularly is true spirituality, and these conversations between Imam Sajjad (as) and God will really open our eyes. Again, there are conversations for different spiritual states, such as being fearful, hopeful and thankful. Conversing with Allah according to our current spiritual state will only serve to enhance our relationship with him. (al-islam.org)

The prayers start with 'repentance', as repentance is the first step towards a genuine communion with God.
