[0:05]I begin in the name of the almighty God the compassionate the
[0:11]merciful the one who has created everything in utmost Perfection and May
[0:18]the peace and blessings of the almighty God be upon his pure
[0:23]and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of humanity
[0:29]the holy prophet prophet muham and his Immaculate progeny of the B
[0:42]peace be upon them especially the leader of our time the awaited
[0:49]Savior IM may God hasten his reappearance and make us all amongst
[1:00]his sincere and dedicated servants Allah subhanahu waala states in the Holy
[1:10]Quran ISL the religion with God is Islam illuminate your hearts and
[1:26]mind with a very loud salaat one of the most amazing gifts
[1:37]that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has endowed us with is the gift
[1:42]of emotions these emotions and feelings that we have that we experience
[1:47]animate Our Lives they give us energy they drive Our Lives imagine
[1:54]your life without emotions we would be like what like robots like
[2:00]some inanimate object these emotions really make our lives Lively energetic interesting
[2:10]and they actually allow us to have so much fun in this
[2:15]life however when you examine our emotions we see that our emotions
[2:23]usually come from two sources we have those emotions which are positive
[2:31]emotions which spring from our F the N the innate nature that
[2:39]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has created in us they help you find
[2:45]the right way they give you the energy and the motivation to
[2:51]do what is right to the contrary we have emotions that confuse
[2:59]us that impair our judgment instead of taking us to the truth
[3:04]they take us to falsehood and the problem is that many times
[3:09]these emotions get mixed up this emotion that you're experiencing this feeling
[3:15]that you have sometimes you're not sure is this feeling pointing me
[3:22]to the right direction to do what is right or is it
[3:24]pointing me to the wrong direction often times we human beings get
[3:28]confused but these emotions can either take us to the path of
[3:35]God or they can take us away from the path of God
[3:40]for example an emotion like anger we have good anger and we
[3:45]have bad anger yes we have good anger positive anger IM says
[3:51]in oneith if you see the laws of God being violated if
[3:56]you see acts of Injustice in your society when you when you
[4:00]see poverty when you see violence when you see war and you're
[4:06]so calm about it you don't even care you don't feel angry
[4:10]about it that's wrong this is wrong where is your anger when
[4:15]you see the rights of people violated you have to feel angry
[4:20]because it's this anger that will give you the motivation to do
[4:23]what is right it will give you the energy to go out
[4:27]in society and work for justice but then at the same time
[4:30]anger can take you away from Allah subhah wa ta'ala when you
[4:36]lose your mind and you start saying very disrespectful words to your
[4:40]family members to your friends to your parents sometimes in the state
[4:46]of anger we say words of disbelief I've seen some people they
[4:50]start cursing Allah subhana wa ta'ala once they get angry yes it's
[4:56]the same emotion the emotion of fear as another example the emotion
[5:01]of fear can be a negative emotion when it holds you back
[5:05]you're afraid to display your identity you're afraid to do what is
[5:12]right but at the same time we have good fear because fear
[5:16]makes you a responsible human being so you know what you're doing
[5:20]so you don't act Reckless and careless and the emotion of fear
[5:28]is used by the Believers to seek closeness to Allah subhanahu wa
[5:33]ta'ala because you know what of one of the greatest fears of
[5:35]a Believer is what one of the greatest if not the greatest
[5:42]in fact the greatest fear a Believer has is what not to
[5:46]be punished in hell yes that's pretty frightening when you think about
[5:51]it but when you look at the supplications of theit peace be
[5:55]upon them their greatest fear and they're teaching us is to l
[5:59]lose that special status with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that's their fear
[6:05]that's why they were constantly monitoring their actions and words I should
[6:12]not do something that will cause me to lose my status with
[6:18]Allah subhah wa ta'ala that was their greatest fear so we have
[6:24]these interesting emotions and often times they really do get mixed up
[6:28]for example to give you a third example of an emotion that
[6:33]sometimes is misplaced is the softheartedness that we experience in our hearts
[6:41]you would think that it's always a good emotion it makes you
[6:44]a gentle human being to feel soft-hearted it gives you compassion it
[6:49]gives you Mercy but this same emotion can be misplaced for example
[6:56]you see a mother who's so compassionate and merciful to her children
[7:02]but she's so excessive about that such that she does not want
[7:07]to discipline her children is this good children need to be disciplined
[7:12]sometimes because you have to show them the path but you see
[7:17]some parents all they do is spoil their children why because they
[7:22]have this soft-heartedness now sometimes you have to be softhearted in order
[7:28]to implement Justice but many many of the times what happens the
[7:34]softheartedness that we experience in our hearts is because of a weak
[7:38]personality because of weakness sometimes we are too lenient are too gentle
[7:46]because we are weak and this is wrong another example is a
[7:53]criminal let's say a murderer a serial killer who has to meet
[8:00]Justice Justice must be served retribution must be served there are some
[8:05]people who say no no let's not punish this person in the
[8:08]name of Mercy in the name of compassion this is a misplaced
[8:15]emotion Justice must be served yes we feel bad for the criminal
[8:18]for doing this to himself but don't ever feel bad if a
[8:21]criminal is being served Justice that's a sign of weakness in the
[8:28]heart let me give you a third example today you see there
[8:32]is a huge movement in the west you know in the name
[8:38]of animal rights to be vegetarian to be vegan right it's growing
[8:41]every day every day new members are join are joining the club
[8:45]now many of them come out and say it's absolutely inhumane and
[8:50]cruel to slaughter an animal just so you can enjoy a delicious
[8:54]meal now in one aspect they are right because unfortunately we see
[9:05]that many animals around the world are subject to cruel conditions their
[9:11]rights are not observed when you go to Animal Farms you see
[9:18]that they are being grazed in miserable conditions if that's what they
[9:22]mean then yes this needs to be corrected but for someone to
[9:25]come out and say that no no human being should eat any
[9:31]meat products because we want to show Mercy to the animals this
[9:36]is a misplaced emotion why because in the religion of Islam there
[9:40]is no more human humane way to prepare an animal like the
[9:47]Shar of the religion of Islam you know it's very recommended it's
[9:50]highly recommended in the religion of Islam by the way to eat
[9:52]meat to be strictly vegetarian is not recommended IM in one says
[10:01]the one who abstains from eating meat 40 days his attitude will
[10:07]change his attitude will be negatively impacted and then there are people
[10:15]who eat meat not only every day but three times a day
[10:17]Subhan Allah you go in some parts of the Middle East 8:00
[10:21]a.m.
[10:21]in the morning they're having Kebab for their breakfast and then at
[10:25]noon they have meat and then at night they have meat this
[10:28]is also unrecombined he says do not convert your stomachs to graveyards
[10:36]for Animals be moderate but avoiding meat altogether is also unrecombined then
[10:59]borrow take a loan just to buy some meat for you and
[11:06]your family and science really proves the amazing impacts of eating meat
[11:11]the protein that you need from it especially during those times when
[11:15]people did not have the luxury of eating so many different types
[11:19]of foods and you know those people who avoid meat all together
[11:23]they're at a greater risk of depression mood swing swings it impairs
[11:31]sometimes even their judgment says the one who avoids eating meat F
[11:38]sometimes your judgment or intellect can be impaired it's recommended at least
[11:48]once a week at least once every 40 days now there are
[11:50]some and come and say you know what this is not Humane
[11:53]why does an animal have to suffer for me to enjoy myself
[11:59]where is the of Allah subhana wa tala first of all when
[12:02]you examine how an animal is prepared According to Islamic law you
[12:10]see that it is the least painful way and so many Studies
[12:14]have been done carried out to demonstrate this point first of all
[12:21]an animal is is to be treated humanely secondly an animal is
[12:25]to be given water make the animal calm don't do anything that
[12:31]would scare the animal that would make it anxious According to Islamic
[12:36]law an animal should be given some water before it is slaughtered
[12:42]IM once was passing by in the street when a when he
[12:50]met a butcher the Imam told him oh man do you give
[12:52]water to the Sheep before you Slaughter it he said yes your
[13:01]grandfather taught us to do that of course I do the IM
[13:04]his eyes became full of tears and he looked towards and he
[13:11]says Hussein my dear father Hussein even the sheep in these lands
[13:16]is given water before it is slaughtered but you by the river
[13:22]of fat you were denied water and you died thirsty so Islam
[13:26]encourages us to treat them humanely so Studies have found that an
[13:33]animal which is slaughtered According to Islamic law for example they put
[13:35]electrodes on the brain of the animal to monitor pain to see
[13:41]how much pain the animal is experiencing Islamic law says that a
[13:46]sharp knife has to be used to immediately cut the four veins
[13:54]the four arteries why is that because an animal when it's slaughtered
[13:59]immediately and the before veins are cut off immediately within a second
[14:03]or two the brain immediately becomes unconscious because so much blood is
[14:10]now gushing out so the animal effectively does not feel any pain
[14:13]they have been able to demonstrate this no pain if it's done
[14:18]According to Islamic law but if it's done according to Western methods
[14:23]they stunt the animal and they give it a shot they realize
[14:27]that there is so much pain that the animal that's experiencing by
[14:31]using these electrodes now someone will come and say but still I'm
[14:37]sure there's a little pain and by the way the animal you
[14:42]know if you've ever seen an animal getting slaughtered which is unrecombined
[14:58]what you see is not an indication of pain then what is
[15:03]it it's just a natural spasm of the muscles it's a reflex
[15:09]by the spinal cord it's not really pain because the brain immediately
[15:14]becomes unconscious now some will say but still there's some pain how
[15:19]do you justify that Subhan Allah here's the r of Allah subhah
[15:27]wa ta'ala do you know that it is much more painful for
[15:32]an animal domesticated animals like sheep for example to die on its
[15:38]own because of disease or old age or being attacked by a
[15:41]wild animal than to die according to the Islamic way it's much
[15:46]more painful for that animal so this is from theah of Allah
[15:48]subhana wa taala if the proper conditions are observed Allah subhana tala
[15:55]is actually having Mercy on that animal the pain of that that
[16:02]animal is reduced so we see sometimes that we have these misplaced
[16:06]emotions now to the contrary on the other side to the other
[16:10]side of soft-heartedness you see that we have hard-heartedness some people are
[16:19]just hard-hearted and they think that they're doing Justice and they're looking
[16:24]after their families like unfortunately you see many fathers in many communities
[16:28]around the the world when it comes to interacting with their children
[16:34]they're very tough and rough they're unapproachable you can't even speak to
[16:37]them the children really are concerned and afraid to have an honest
[16:42]conversation with the parents why is that and if something happens in
[16:51]the family if the son or especially the daughter does something that's
[16:55]it it's the end of the world if for example the daughter
[16:58]has met someone and she's in love with someone and she wants
[17:04]to marry someone and the father doesn't like it what does he
[17:07]do he goes crazy and sometimes parents I've seen this in all
[17:11]communities they take drastic measures and they actually kick their daughters out
[17:17]of the house I don't want to speak to you don't you
[17:20]dare come and see me or speak to me why this is
[17:26]unacceptable if there's a problem deal with it gently see what the
[17:30]problem is don't always impose your opinions on your children some will
[17:34]say but say it you know she has met someone who's a
[17:39]non-muslim how can I welcome her back into my house Habibi take
[17:42]it easy take it easy speak to her see what the problem
[17:47]is try to meet that person invite him to the religion of
[17:50]Islam bring him to your local mosque have that person speak to
[17:54]your local IM try to arrive at a solution but to kick
[18:00]your daughter out of the house what kind of a solution is
[18:04]that what have you solved you've just exacerbated the problem by doing
[18:08]that you haven't solved anything this is unacceptable you know there was
[18:13]a woman at the time of the holy prophet peace be upon
[18:15]him by the name of Al her father forced her to marry
[18:20]someone but she did not want to so she came to the
[18:26]prophet complaining Yol Allah my father is forcing me to marry this
[18:30]person the prophet told her try accepting do you want to accept
[18:35]do you want to trust your father's judgment maybe this is good
[18:39]for you she said no I insist on my position I do
[18:43]not want this man the prophet peace be upon him told her
[18:46]you have that right no one can force you to marry any
[18:52]person not your father not your mother no one else and the
[18:54]prophet said he made it very clear that if she's forced into
[18:59]this marriage according to Islamic law this marriage is not recognized it's
[19:06]invalid it's void you know once this Mother was complaining to me
[19:11]about her son and her daughter-in-law and this just shows how sometimes
[19:15]our emotions are misplaced the feelings are misplaced she was complaining about
[19:20]her daughter-in-law a list of things but one of them that really
[19:23]ticked her off you know is what she told me say it
[19:28]when she sometimes wants to commun unicate with me she sends me
[19:31]a text message or on WhatsApp she sends me a message this
[19:36]is so disrespectful what am I her age for her to speak
[19:38]to me with a text message I told her what's the big
[19:44]deal so what don't make an issue out of this but we
[19:46]see the opposite sides of the Spectrum in our families in our
[19:52]societies many of the feelings and the emotions we have respected brothers
[19:59]and sisters we we have to ask ourselves what is the source
[20:04]of this emotion why am I having this feeling many times you
[20:09]see selfish people they really think that their actions are Justified they
[20:15]want benefits more than others they want advantages more than others they're
[20:20]entitled to so many things that others are not and they have
[20:23]so many high expectations from their others and they have so low
[20:29]expectations from themselves inspect yourself why why am I entitled to something
[20:36]that others are not entitled to ask yourself always what is the
[20:41]source of this emotion that I have this feeling that I have
[20:46]is it really based on Justice based on Allah subhah wa ta'ala
[20:50]or is it just selfishness some people in the name of equality
[20:54]and they think this is a sense of justice they say you
[20:59]know what I have to treat be treated like others but you're
[21:01]not doing what others are doing it's just like a lazy student
[21:07]who expects to be given the same grade of a diligent student
[21:10]and we see this every day in our families in our societies
[21:15]so the point is we have a problem when it comes to
[21:22]managing our emotions when it comes to managing our feelings now this
[21:26]is not only at the individual scale at the global scale you
[21:30]know what kind of consequences this has when these emotions get mixed
[21:36]up and you don't know whether your emotions are springing from Justice
[21:42]or from selfishness or from ignorance what does Allah subhana wa taala
[21:47]state in the Holy Quran Allah subhana wa taala says in the
[21:55]Holy Quran when God is speaking about those people who think what
[21:59]they're doing is good should I tell you about the Biggest Loser
[22:07]who's the biggest loser in the eyes of Allah subhana wa tala
[22:12]in the Holy Quran those people who make the effort they work
[22:31]hard they struggle they think they're doing good however what they do
[22:37]is nothing but Injustice and oppression and Corruption sometimes you wonder why
[22:44]is it that we have a phenomenon like Isis today you know
[22:46]many of those Isis members they really think they're serving God and
[22:50]the prophet they're so brainwashed they really believe that what they're doing
[22:55]is good and they have the sense of justice justice has has
[22:58]to be served and they really think they're implementing the mercy of
[23:04]Allah subhana wa tala on Earth where's the problem just like the
[23:09]the had this feeling of Justice we have to implement Justice and
[23:13]they used to pray impeccably IM in onei says when you see
[23:21]how they would pray they would make you ashamed of your own
[23:24]Salah from the outside it looks impeccable but who are they worshiping
[23:32]their whims and desires not Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala this serves to demonstrate
[23:38]to us brothers and sisters that we need a divine power an
[23:45]outside source to channel our emotions to give us a feeling of
[23:50]Justice to know what's right from what's wrong you cannot depend on
[23:58]your emotions and feelings to know what is right and what is
[24:01]wrong just look at Society throughout history the Arabs during the the
[24:06]time of the holy prophet peace be upon him the Holy Quran
[24:11]tells us about their shameful actions the Quran gives us a picture
[24:15]of a father who's been given the news that your wife has
[24:19]delivered a baby daughter a baby girl you know what the Quran
[24:26]says when he would be given the news that you have a
[24:38]daughter his face would turn black he would feel so angry he
[24:48]would go hide himself no one should see me from now till
[24:54]next month because I'm so ashamed of having a daughter M when
[24:57]you would ask that Arab man why what's wrong about it he
[25:03]would tell you it's my sense of justice my sense of Shame
[25:06]it's this feeling that I have and Society Society reinforces this feeling
[25:11]and this is exactly brothers and sisters why we need religion in
[25:16]our lives look at our societies can we depend on our society
[25:20]to tell us what's right and what's wrong Society changes every day
[25:26]one day for example homosexuality is looked down upon it's bad in
[25:31]Europe people would get killed for it all of a sudden now
[25:35]it's something good be proud of it do whatever you want and
[25:38]even get benefits because of it how can I trust such a
[25:40]society God knows in the next 20 30 40 50 years what
[25:45]would happen our societies need direction from Allah subhah wa ta'ala from
[25:53]the one who created us and this is why we need religion
[25:57]brothers and sisters Allah subhah wa tala tells us in the Holy
[26:05]Quran Islam is the religion with Allah subhah wa ta'ala now what
[26:11]does Islam mean many of you know but many of you also
[26:13]don't know yes Islam is a peaceful religion but that's not the
[26:20]meaning of Islam Islam means to submit it means submission submit to
[26:25]what to Allah subhana tala the laws of Allah subhu wa tala
[26:29]now many westerners have a negative perception of the meaning of Islam
[26:37]of the word submission I remember once I was on a plane
[26:40]going to New York for a program when this American elderly man
[26:44]was sitting next to me and so he had an objection he
[26:50]told me this God of yours in Islam this Allah Allah he's
[26:53]not a good God I told him why what makes you say
[26:58]that he said because all he wants you to do is to
[27:02]submit to him he's the god of submission and that's not good
[27:05]I told him okay do you believe in Jesus he's like yeah
[27:10]I believe in Jesus I told him are you supposed to submit
[27:12]to Jesus or no he kind of got confused I told him
[27:17]let me put it this way if Jesus asked you to do
[27:18]something the Commandments of prophet Jesus peace be upon him are you
[27:24]supposed to follow them or Jesus said no don't follow them what
[27:25]did he say he like no of course I should follow follow
[27:29]them I told them that what submission is you're submitting to Jesus
[27:32]according to your understanding and your belief system submitting to Allah subhanahu
[27:39]wa ta'ala simply means that you respect the laws of God there's
[27:44]nothing negative about it and therefore the Holy Quran makes it very
[27:49]clear that the religion of all the prophets was what it was
[27:54]Islam what was the religion of prophet ibraim it was Islam he
[28:04]told his sons don't die except as a Muslim he was an
[28:11]upright Muslim Muslim oh Allah make me and my son is Muslims
[28:19]to submit to you all prophets of God are Muslim and their
[28:26]religion the essence of their religion is what is Islam that's why
[28:30]Allah subhana tala says in the Holy Quran the Faith with God
[28:39]the religion with God is Islam and on the day of judgment
[28:41]Allah subhah wa ta'ala will only accept Islam that's the religion with
[28:46]Allah subhana wa tala but then now you may be wondering then
[28:52]what's Christianity and Judaism Judaism and these other monotheistic faiths Christianity and
[28:57]Juda ISM are the names of not the dean not the religion
[29:01]they're the names of what the names of the sh because every
[29:07]prophet of God has something what is called Dean religion and something
[29:12]called Shar which is the code of law the religion of all
[29:18]the prophets of God is what it's the religion of Islam to
[29:22]submit to Allah subhanahu wa tala but their code of law yes
[29:25]is different the law of prophet m is called Judaism the law
[29:33]of prophet Isa is called Christianity otherwise the religion itself never changes
[29:41]it's fixed that's why you find that the belief system the core
[29:46]beliefs are the same they do not change from one religion to
[29:49]another yes the details of law can change but the actual religion
[29:57]does not change it's the same Allah is very firm about that
[30:04]in the Holy Quran and hence all the prophets of God are
[30:07]on a equal footing when it comes to them being Muslims surrendering
[30:13]to the will of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and delivering the message of
[30:19]God they're all equal all 124,000 prophets are equal one of the
[30:30]qualities of a true Muslim is someone who accepts all the prophets
[30:36]of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala I accept these Messengers but I reject
[30:40]some no this is not the quality of the Believers a Believer
[30:47]is the one who accepts all the prophets of God now does
[30:50]that mean that when it comes to their personal virtues they're all
[30:56]the same no because the same Quran that tells us that they're
[31:00]on an equal footing what does it say we have given some
[31:09]preference we have given preference to some prophets over others when it
[31:17]comes to their personal virtues to their level of Faith to their
[31:21]to their courage for example to their humbleness yes you see some
[31:26]variation amongst the prophets and the best of the prophets of Allah
[31:29]subhanahu wa ta'ala is the final messenger the holy prophet Muhammad sallallahu
[31:40]alai when it comes to personal virtues when it comes to his
[31:45]patience when it comes to the love that he has for Humanity
[31:50]he is unmatched by any other Prophet but in terms of him
[31:54]delivering a message and being a humble servant of of God yes
[31:59]he's equal with all of the prophets of God so the religion
[32:05]with Allah subhana wa ta'ala is Islam to submit to the almighty
[32:09]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala now there's one interesting point here when we
[32:16]speak of religion and the religion of Islam and the right religion
[32:20]many people will ask you how do I know that the religion
[32:24]of Islam is the correct religion do you know how many religions
[32:28]we have today in the world 4,200 religions how do I know
[32:36]that Islam is the True Religion especially our youth they ask this
[32:40]question I'm not a philosopher to go and read about all these
[32:47]religions imagine if you have to read about 4,200 religions that needs
[32:52]hundreds of years for you to study all of those how do
[32:58]I know how is Allah asking me to believe in something when
[33:01]it's so confusing when it's so complex because you have so many
[33:04]other religions how do I really know the religion of Islam is
[33:11]the right religion yes the religion of Islam is very detailed and
[33:16]once you delve into its depths it's very complex but at the
[33:23]same time the faith that Allah subhana tala is asking from us
[33:27]is so simp simple it's amazing it's so basic and simple it's
[33:31]truly amazing in a five minute process brothers and sisters you can
[33:39]figure out if the religion of Islam is the correct religion or
[33:42]not let's start with number one out of all these religions this
[33:49]is how you filter them which religion tells you that you have
[33:54]a creator that you just did not pop up out of nowhere
[33:57]so automatically you filter out all of the non- monotheistic religions because
[34:03]the intellect tells you I must have a Creator someone must have
[34:09]created me there was a first mover who put everything in motion
[34:13]yes if the bing bang is proven but who is the one
[34:17]who put it in place can something just explode out of nothing
[34:21]that's impossible the intellect tells you that so you know that you
[34:27]have a Creator and you know that you have only one Creator
[34:31]IM tells his son IM alassan oh Hass if there was another
[34:36]God you would have seen his signs he would have sent prophets
[34:39]have you seen a legitimate prophet in history coming and conveying the
[34:45]message of another Prophet another God we did not hear about that
[34:51]all the prophets who came they point us to one God and
[34:54]when you look at the system of the universe it all carries
[35:01]the blueprints of what of one Creator one designer it's the same
[35:05]system it does not change at all this serves to demonstrate that
[35:11]we have one God that's number one number two the justice of
[35:16]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala examine the justice of God for example when
[35:22]you examine Christianity you see that an integral part of Christianity is
[35:28]one what the original sin is the original sin compatible with the
[35:34]justice of God or no even if we assume Prophet Adam committed
[35:39]a sin even if we assume that which he didn't but even
[35:44]if we assume that why does Humanity have to be held responsible
[35:47]for something that their grandfather did is this compatible with the justice
[35:52]of God if today someone takes you to court and sues you
[35:57]and wants to punish you even if he wants to forgive you
[35:59]later but hold you accountable for something that your grandfather did what
[36:03]would you say wouldn't you find this absurd the original sin does
[36:09]not make sense it's not compatible with the justice of Allah subhana
[36:12]wa taala so now you filter out Christianity it's a very simple
[36:15]process then you get to prophethood Allah subhana wa ta'ala the one
[36:20]who created us the one who's wise and just will not leave
[36:25]us to fend for ourselves Allah send us guides and they're the
[36:30]prophets and these prophets will they leave you without a guide without
[36:35]appointing a successor now you found the religion of Islam within Islam
[36:40]how do you find the right sect your intellect tells you that
[36:46]the prophet cannot leave without appointing guardians of religion to protect the
[36:50]religion of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and then you get to the
[36:55]day of judgment if Allah is wise and he created us in
[36:59]this world we know there are many criminals many evildoers and Justice
[37:03]was not served to them how is it that God will serve
[37:06]Justice the intellect tells you there must be a day of judgment
[37:14]otherwise Allah is unjust because he allowed so many criminals to get
[37:17]away with their crimes and Judaism for example is not firm about
[37:21]the belief in the day of judgment in an afterlife many of
[37:26]them don't believe in heaven or hell or in the afterlife that
[37:29]we believe in see it's a 5 minute process out of all
[37:34]these religions within 5 minutes when you look at it you come
[37:37]to the conclusion that the religion of Islam is the religion of
[37:40]Allah subhana wa tala it's that simple really and if you see
[37:46]someone struggling with their faith realize that these five that we talk
[37:53]about the Oneness of God the justice of God prophethood IM and
[37:57]these are what the why do we call them the pillars of
[38:02]faith because they are the pillars of faith because these five pillars
[38:10]of faith you have to use your intellect to arrive at a
[38:15]conclusion don't blindly follow this is not an area of you don't
[38:19]emulate or follow another scholar in these areas you have to see
[38:26]what your intellect dictates to you you it's really that simple now
[38:30]what is it that makes the religion of Islam special brothers and
[38:33]sisters what's so special about the religion of Islam we know all
[38:40]religions has have something good to offer what is special about the
[38:43]religion of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala first of all the only religion
[38:48]with a Divine book that's completely intact is what the actual word
[38:54]of God which has not been tampered with is what what the
[39:00]Holy Quran number two you don't have any religion which has such
[39:04]a huge body of like the religion of Islam just in the
[39:11]four books within the Shia school of thought you have 46,000 hadiths
[39:16]and narrations from the prophet and the and they're so detailed they're
[39:26]so amazing which religion has that if you look at the Bible
[39:29]how many verses in the Bible quote Prophet Jesus peace be upon
[39:32]him directly not many very few but within the religion of Islam
[39:40]we have this huge body of literature of Hadith that's amazing this
[39:44]is one thing that differentiates the religion of Islam from others and
[39:49]number three brothers and sisters what's amazing about the religion of Islam
[39:55]is the comprehensive that it has no religion has a comprehensive Shar
[40:03]like the religion of Islam muham muham the religion of Islam connects
[40:20]you with every aspect of your life every aspect of our life
[40:23]in this world the religion of Islam connects you number one the
[40:26]religion of Islam connects you with nature see how the Holy Quran
[40:35]invites you to look at the stars to look at the universe
[40:38]to think about the universe and how beautiful the creation of Allah
[40:46]is when you have to look up to see the moon to
[40:47]establish the first of the month the last of the month it's
[40:52]connecting you with nature it's connecting you with science with astronomy you
[40:59]know there was a scientist who embraced the religion of Islam because
[41:04]he came across this one verse I do not take an oath
[41:15]or it means according to Mu I do take an oath in
[41:20]the positions of the Stars the places of the stories why does
[41:23]the Quran say and not itself why does it say the position
[41:30]of stars not the Stars themselves this scientist said I thought about
[41:34]this verse and I realize that what you see the light that
[41:37]you see from the stars is what not the star itself because
[41:42]sometimes it takes thousands of years for that light to travel to
[41:46]reach us what you see is the position of the star where
[41:52]it was 10,000 years ago a million years ago 5 million years
[41:57]ago this is the accuracy of the Holy Quran and that's amazing
[42:00]you see that the Holy Quran and the religion of Islam connects
[42:04]you to Nature number two the religion of Islam connects you to
[42:10]geography as a Muslim you have to know your geography why because
[42:13]of wherever you want to pray you have to know the direction
[42:18]of Kaa the religion of Islam gives every Muslim a sense of
[42:24]geography to know for example the prayer times throughout history you have
[42:31]to know the movement of the Sun in order for you to
[42:35]understand what time is sunset what time is dawn what time is
[42:38]noon when a lunar eclipse happens when a solar eclipse occurs Allah
[42:46]subhana taala is connecting Muslims with nature with science with geography the
[42:52]religion of Islam connects you with Biology and Medicine look at the
[42:58]Holy Quran how it speaks about the embryonic development of a fetus
[43:01]Allah is inviting Muslims to think about this how the religion of
[43:08]Islam connects you with medicine Islam teaches you what you should eat
[43:12]what not you should eat what's healthy for you what's not healthy
[43:15]for you a Muslim who's really observant really has a sense of
[43:18]medicine a sense of what's good for him how to live a
[43:25]healthy lifestyle throughout the trees Islam would encourage its followers before you
[43:31]eat wash your hands take out the trash every single night otherwise
[43:34]you'll be cursed why for hygiene an observant Muslim is one who
[43:40]knows his hygiene the best the religion of Islam connects you with
[43:47]medicine so beautifully there is an interesting Hadith by IM in which
[43:53]one of his students one of his pupils he he asked him
[44:00]he tells him tell me about the body parts their function the
[44:05]Imam beautifully describes it to him he tells him let me explain
[44:11]to you the body parts and the powers that we have in
[44:14]our soul he tells them as for the nefs the nefs is
[44:20]the animalistic soul that we have which we share with the animals
[44:23]it's what gives us the energy it's what gives us life in
[44:28]order to live the Imam tells him you know where that is
[44:32]it's in your blood the place of the NFS is in the
[44:35]blood and Subhan Allah when you examine what the blood to does
[44:42]to the body it gives life to every single cell in your
[44:44]body every single cell in your body is given oxygen through what
[44:51]Through Blood and then the Imam says then you have the r
[44:55]you have the soul the soul is what allows the human being
[44:59]to decipher what's right from what's wrong that's how we get our
[45:08]intellect where is the place of the the IM says the the
[45:11]brain that's the area which connects the soul to your body and
[45:18]then the Imam says the human being is made up of water
[45:22]and now we know that 2/3 of our body is composed of
[45:24]water and then the IM mentioned is specific body parts he says
[45:29]the place for example for good attitude for depression for happiness is
[45:36]the liver and the spleen Subhan Allah modern science confirms this that
[45:41]those people who suffer some from depression yes you have a chemical
[45:45]imbalance in the brain with serotonin and dopamine and other hormones but
[45:51]these two body parts these two organs the liver and the they
[45:57]play an instrumental role in making a person depressed in making a
[46:06]person happy the Imam would describe this the religion of Islam is
[46:10]a religion that connects you with medicine it's a religion that connects
[46:16]you with history every Muslim in the Holy Quran is encouraged to
[46:23]look at previous Nations the Quran says go travel and learn from
[46:29]previous generations from the history of those who came before you learn
[46:35]from them look at your history the Holy Quran connects you to
[46:42]Sociology it teaches you how to maintain a proper Society how to
[46:46]avoid conflict in your Society do not spy on each other do
[46:55]not backbite one another do not call each other names why does
[46:58]the Quran say this to promote a harmonious Society the Holy Quran
[47:06]connects you with math the religion of Islam connects every Muslim with
[47:11]math how so laws of inheritance how many of us know them
[47:14]you need to know math for you to figure out the laws
[47:20]of inheritance how to pay yours how to do the zakat calculation
[47:23]you see how amazing the religion of Allah is how detailed it
[47:30]is Islam also connects you with law the law that we see
[47:37]in the religion of Islam is so detailed it's truly fascinating the
[47:41]Imam says there's Allah for everything even if you injure someone and
[47:46]scratch someone scar someone there's a fine for that you see how
[47:49]detailed it is this is what distinguishes the religion of Islam from
[47:54]all other religions 13 centuries ago IM made one statement one small
[48:07]statement don't negate certainty with doubt do you know scholars in this
[48:12]Seminary they spend decades analyzing this one sentence and they extract from
[48:19]it hundreds or if not thousands of laws don't negate certainty with
[48:26]doubt so simple so amazing for example let's say at 12:00 you
[48:30]had performed wo you had Abol and now you have doubts did
[48:36]I break my woo or did I not break my wudoo what
[48:37]does this law say don't negate certainty with doubt you were certain
[48:44]that you had Wu at 12 now you have doubts did I
[48:48]break it or not did I sleep or not what does the
[48:49]law say assume that you have wo it's called The Law of
[48:57]continuity let me give you another interesting example some of our Scholars
[49:01]say that let's say if you go to the market and you
[49:02]buy fish fish of course which has scales one of the criteria
[49:08]for a fish to be Halal is for it to die outside
[49:14]the water not inside the water well if you're buying the fish
[49:17]from a Muslim that's fine you don't have to know that this
[49:21]died outside the water because you're taking it from a Muslim it's
[49:25]Hal but well let's say you buy it from a non-muslim company
[49:29]how do you know that the fish died outside the water for
[49:32]you to consider Hal if you don't have knowledge if you're not
[49:35]certain 100% how Scholars have used this Hadith from IM to say
[49:44]that it is Hal don't negate certainty without how you're certain that
[49:49]one day the fish was alive right any fish one day it
[49:54]was alive in the ocean you don't know when it was taken
[49:56]outside the sea so what does this law say the law of
[50:01]continuity the law says you were certain it was alive and now
[50:06]you have doubt when it was taken outside the water was it
[50:11]alive or dead you assume that it was alive the law of
[50:14]continuity don't negate certainty with doubt Subhan Allah and IM mentions the
[50:20]Hadith 13 centuries ago and after 1,300 years we use that Hadith
[50:27]to eat fish and make it Hal isn't that amazing we see
[50:30]how the religion of Islam connects us with all these fields it
[50:35]is indeed the most comprehensive religion that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has
[50:43]endowed us with and the imams of B their role was to
[50:47]protect this religion so that it reaches us so that it keeps
[50:52]Us close to Allah subhah wa ta'ala throughout history brothers and sisters
[50:59]on such a night we commemorate the companions of IM Hussein these
[51:08]amazing companions who gave everything in the way of Allah subhanahu wa
[51:13]taala on the night of Ash the Imam G gathers his companions
[51:20]he tells them my dear companions tomorrow I shall be killed and
[51:26]the enemies are after me they're not after you so take advantage
[51:33]of the darkness of this night so you can leave go to
[51:36]your families you don't have to stay here with me what did
[51:41]they say not one of them left Al IM Hussein one of
[51:47]them stood and said oh abdah if I were to live in
[51:52]this life for eternity and never die I would rather die with
[51:55]you tomorrow I don't want this life another one of them stood
[52:00]up and said oh abdah if I am killed and cut into
[52:03]pieces by the sword a thousand times I shall never leave you
[52:09]and if I'm revived a thousand times I would still defend you
[52:13]the Imam realized that his companions are loyal to him they're not
[52:19]leaving him they're not going anywhere and therefore he said I do
[52:26]not know any companion in history better than my companions how amazing
[52:32]companions the IM had one of the best Companions of Al IM
[52:36]Hussein was a man by the name ofb a true warrior in
[52:44]the way of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you know Habib m in
[52:47]kufa he lived in kufa he would recite the entire Quran from
[52:54]cover to cover every single night from Sunset Till Dawn these were
[53:00]the companions of Al IM Hussein at night they would not sleep
[53:04]they would pray to Allah subhah wa ta'ala and during the day
[53:08]there were true Warriors courageous people who defended Justice and Truth the
[53:16]Imam had organized his army up till the eighth day of muharam
[53:21]for example he gave this companion one of the banners to be
[53:28]in charge of the left side of his army he assigned each
[53:31]one of his companions a role in his army but he had
[53:35]kept one Banner he had not given it to anyone they told
[53:39]him oh Abdullah who is this Banner for he said I am
[53:44]waiting for someone the owner of the banner shall come on the
[53:48]eighth day of muharam Habib he arrives the IM tells his companions
[53:57]I was waiting for him I shall give him the banner to
[53:59]be responsible for the right side the right flank of my Army
[54:05]lady Zam she hears someone has arrived there's a newcomer who's joined
[54:11]IM Hussein she tells albar oh my dear son Ali can you
[54:18]see who has come there's a stranger here who has come to
[54:26]your father Hussein albar says my dear Aunt Z this isib she
[54:30]tells him go to him and give him my Salam goes to
[54:36]he tells him ohib my aunt Z gives her Salam to you
[54:41]you know what he does he collapses on the ground he takes
[54:47]the dirt and he wipes his head and face with it and
[54:50]he says who am I for Z to give her Salam to
[54:57]me me then he seeks permission from IM Hussein to go to
[55:04]lady Z to give her his Salam to her he goes to
[55:07]the tent peace be upon your family of the Prophet she tells
[55:15]him ohib I want you to defend abdah Hussein he says yes
[55:22]I promise to defend you I will not have any shortcomings and
[55:27]then as he's leaving the tent he begins to cry they tell
[55:32]him ohib why do you cry do you miss your family he
[55:34]says no I cry because my master he told me that one
[55:42]day my daughter Z she shall be taken as a prisoner of
[55:48]war in caral and she shall be paraded in the streets of
[55:54]K that's why I'm crying on the 10th day of muharam he
[56:01]seeks the permission from an IM Hussein he goes out to the
[56:05]battlefield and he fights like a warrior he kills many of these
[56:08]enemies of God until he is fatally struck he falls to the
[56:14]ground he calls on abdah peace be upon you AB abdah Hussein
[56:25]the Imam rushes to him he sees him in that state he
[56:31]tells him he was the best companion of ab abdah Hussein the
[56:37]IM asib was dying he tells him ohib I bear witness that
[56:45]you were a virtuous man a man of virtue and that every
[56:48]night you would recite the entire Quran everyone let's pay our salutations
[57:12]Tod husin hinin
