[0:11]all right Bismillah I begin in the name of the almighty God

[0:21]the compassionate the merciful the one who has created everything in utmost

[0:29]perfection and May the peace and blessings of the almighty God be

[0:33]upon his pure and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the

[0:38]symbol of humanity the holy prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi Allah and his

[0:50]Immaculate progeny of the peace be upon them especially the leader of

[0:54]our time the awaited Savior may Allah haste in his reappearance and

[1:02]make us all amongst his sincere and dedicated servants respected brothers and

[1:09]sisters one of The Shining figures in the history of Islam is

[1:22]because in of the prophet sallallahu alaihi and the older brother of

[1:30]jaffar was known for his great virtues and he is a figure

[1:36]that many of us are not familiar with we have heard his

[1:44]name maybe we have heard about Salah but rarely do we know

[1:50]his very important stances in supporting the religion of Islam and rarely

[1:54]do we know about the love that rasulullah had for his cousin

[2:00]jaffar so in our discussion tonight we will dedicate our talk to

[2:08]examining the life and the biography of jafaratayar for are there for

[2:12]there are many important lessons that we can learn from this amazing

[2:19]Islamic figure jaffar was the older brother of Imam Ali had three

[2:26]older brothers the oldest of them was Talib and that's why his

[2:32]father is known as Abu Talib Talib was 30 years older than

[2:39]Imam Ali after Talib kamzakil Akil was 20 years older than Imam

[2:47]Ali after atil comes Jaffa jaffar is 10 years older than was

[2:54]truly known for his virtues now in Mecca he grew up under

[3:01]the care of who of al-abas the uncle of the Prophet his

[3:06]uncle why went through a phase of financial difficulty so it became

[3:13]very difficult for him to support his own Sons whose Financial State

[3:30]was better than he took jaffar to raise him so jaffar in

[3:36]his youthful days in his teenage days he was known for his

[3:40]amazing qualities in one Hadith he states that during the days of

[3:47]jahiliyah Allah protected jaffar from four from four vices the first of

[3:57]them is drinking Jafar never drank in his life even before Islam

[4:01]during the days of jahiliya when drinking and getting drunk was so

[4:08]common Jaffa refused to drink that's how much wisdom Allah had given

[4:13]him the second one he never committed any acts of immorality he

[4:17]was chaste and pure number three states he never lied not even

[4:24]once he was honest he was trustworthy he never said a lie

[4:28]and the fourth one he never worshiped an idol Jafar even before

[4:35]Islam he worshiped the one God he knew that of Allah and

[4:40]we're talking about his teenage days because jaffar was around 20 years

[4:47]old when he joined the religion of Islam is describing him in

[4:51]his teenage days before the religion of Islam and during the days

[4:57]of jahiriyah amongst the virtues of Jaffa was that he resembled the

[5:02]prophet sallallahu alaihi the most this is something narrated by sunnis and

[5:08]Shia for instance if you look at the book by IBN abdulbar

[5:14]is a very well-known Maliki Sunni scholar he has a book about

[5:20]the life of the sahaba the companions of the prophet sallallahu alaihi

[5:24]he mentions in this book that the one who resembled the prophet

[5:28]most in his physical appearance and is in his in his character

[5:35]in her in his manners was jaffar the son of Abu Talib

[5:38]once the prophet salallahu alaihi told him you look like me and

[5:48]your physical features and in your and one of the most beautiful

[5:51]hadiths of rasulullah about jaffar is when he told him people have

[6:11]been created from the same tree imagine being from the same tree

[6:16]that is truly an amazing virtue that he had Jafar was also

[6:23]known to take care of the masakin the destitutes those who were

[6:27]struck stricken with poverty to the point that rasulullah according to some

[6:35]new sources he called him you are the father of the masaki

[6:41]the father of the poor the father of the destitutes because he

[6:44]showed so much care and compassion for them by the way not

[6:50]everything narrates is something that we reject says when I came to

[6:55]Medina we were poor I didn't have anything we would sleep in

[6:57]the Masjid he says one of those companions who would care for

[7:04]us he would come asking about us he would bring food from

[7:08]his house to us was who because for about a year jaffar

[7:15]was in Medina we'll examine this soon so Jaffa was known as

[7:18]Abul masaki now the prophet salallahu alaihi receives Revelation the first one

[7:23]to embrace Islam is then lady Khadijah who was the third one

[7:42]sees in Massachusetts the prophet was praying and this was the first

[8:34]was amongst those very early ones who joined the religion of Islam

[8:40]and this indicates that Abu Talib was a believer you know some

[8:43]other schools of thought who accuse him of dying on the path

[8:48]of shirk how are you a Muslim how do you not believe

[8:50]in what prophet Muhammad taught when you send your own son and

[8:53]you tell him join him would you ever send your son to

[8:59]join something that you do not approve of which rational father would

[9:03]do that when a father sends his son to join a group

[9:05]He commands him to join them obviously the father believes in that

[9:11]group The Father approves of that group this is another indication that

[9:14]Abu Talib was a believer in Allah so he was amongst those

[9:22]early companions who joined the religion of Islam the next phase in

[9:26]the life of jaffar is one that's extremely important years after the

[9:32]religion of Islam the Muslims could no longer tolerate the persecution of

[9:37]the meccas of the meccins they would torture them they would persecute

[9:41]them it really became unbearable so in year five of the hijrah

[9:49]the prophet salallahu alaihi looks at a group of his companions and

[9:54]he tells them I recommend you to go to habasha modern day

[9:57]Ethiopia Abyssinian I recommend you to go there because there is a

[10:03]good King over there no one is oppressed in his kingdom and

[10:08]that is the najashi the negus he is truly a good King

[10:15]I recommend that you go there the prophet called that land the

[10:21]land of truth subhanallah how important Ethiopia was for the prophet to

[10:25]describe it as a land of Truth so he tells his companions

[10:30]go there perhaps Allah may give you some relief from the difficulty

[10:33]that you're going through so the first wave of migrants from Mecca

[10:38]to abyssinia they went under their leadership of the companion Abdullah then

[10:45]came the next wave the next wave came to go the prophet

[10:49]assigned Jafar to be the leader of the group Jafar you're responsible

[10:57]for this group you're in charge of this group and you are

[11:02]the spokesman of this group so about 82 or 83 Muslims went

[11:07]to abyssinia was amongst those who went to abyssinia she went on

[11:13]this first Hijra this is year five after the birth year five

[11:16]after the prophet salallahu alaihi received revelation um Solomon narrates to us

[11:25]what happened in abyssinia and the critical role of Jafar by the

[16:35]truthful and not lie not to commit adultery not to drink he

[16:38]called us to pray and to fast yes we are following this

[16:44]religion these are our beliefs when the najashi heard these words from

[16:50]Jafar he told him what you just said right now and what

[16:56]Jesus taught is the same exact thing I also believe in what

[16:58]you mentioned if this is this religion that you're following this religion

[17:03]must be from God guided his heart to the truth what Jesus

[17:11]taught and what you're saying comes from the same source then najashi

[17:15]tells him you've also told me that he's received Revelation he's received

[17:20]a book from God can you share with me some of those

[17:24]verses give me an example I want to hear this Quran what

[17:26]does the Quran state now jaffa's smart which Surah did he choose

[17:32]to share with anajashi he chose Surah to marry him because najashi

[17:35]was a Christian King so he wanted to show him that we

[17:42]also believe in Maryam in Zechariah peace be upon them all so

[20:09]sending a group of Believers like that back to Mecca and then

[20:14]he looked at Jafar son of Abu Talib and he told him

[20:15]Jaffa you can stay as long as you want here in Ethiopia

[20:19]and I will not let anyone persecute you I will not let

[20:21]anyone take you back to Mecca this is the beautiful role that

[20:28]played in Ethiopia and he truly saved those early Muslims this is

[20:33]a stance that we must appreciate we must show appreciation and gratitude

[20:38]to the role of jaffarattaya and the lesson for us my dear

[20:45]brothers and sisters we need to be always able to summarize our

[20:48]teachings today if you go to a random Muslim and you tell

[20:51]him summarize for me the teachings of Islam can he do so

[20:56]eloquently you believe in God show me the proof that Allah exists

[20:59]you believe the Quran is the word of God prove it to

[21:02]me how this is the word of God you believe Muhammad is

[21:13]of us will struggle if you ask an average Muslim today prove

[21:16]to me the Quran is the word of God they might struggle

[21:19]jaffar teaches us always be prepared know why you believe in what

[21:24]you believe in be able to summarize the teachings of Islam the

[21:29]teachings of Quran very eloquently and succinctly in a very concise way

[21:35]so Jaffa truly saved the Muslims by this amazing strategy now doesn't

[21:44]want to give up the quresh upset him he realized he failed

[21:49]so he said to his friend Abdullah tomorrow I'll come up with

[23:38]so yeah I will not deny that he's the servant of God

[23:42]but he represents God and he's the spirit of God when najashi

[23:45]heard that he says I swear by Allah this is what I

[23:50]also believe in he is indeed the servant of God now the

[23:52]Bishops they didn't like that they gave him the look he's like

[23:58]you stop you be quiet you Bishops don't get involved in this

[24:00]you can preach what you like I'm not going to stop you

[24:04]but this is my belief and that is why According to Islamic

[24:07]sources we believe that najashi did actually become Muslim and when he

[24:12]died the prophet salallahu alaihi prayed for him and the prophet saw

[24:16]Allah said that he died on the path of Iman so this

[24:21]attempt by did not see any success they stayed in abyssinia when

[24:27]does come to Medina the prophet salallahu alaihi years later he migrates

[24:34]to Medina year seven of the hijrah the prophet goes to khaibar

[24:39]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala grants victory to the Muslims at the hands

[24:47]of Imam foreign he tells him go to najashi and tell him

[24:58]it's time we want the Muslims back now we have relative strength

[25:04]in Medina we can protect ourselves so please go and bring them

[25:23]come back to Arabia they should go to Medina there were about

[25:36]general najashi says yes if this is the request of the Prophet

[25:40]I will accept that jaffar I will send with you servants and

[25:46]AIDS to help you get to Medina I will give you money

[25:48]I will give you gifts and I will also equip you with

[25:54]two ships with two boats because from Ethiopia to get to Arabia

[25:57]you would crush the Red Sea so I will equip you equip

[26:01]you with two ships and I want to make sure that you

[26:04]arrive Medina safely so they come they come back from Ethiopia they're

[26:09]very happy they're very eager now to me rasulullah they cross the

[26:15]Red Sea they come to Medina they're told that the prophet is

[26:17]where he's not in Medina where was he so jaffar goes to

[26:24]khabar you know when he arrives he arrives immediately after Imam kills

[26:29]marhab and he opens the fort of khabar and the Muslims achieve

[26:36]Victory so the prophet salallahu alaihi he hears now that Imam has

[26:40]achieved Victory after that Victory he sees he's now coming to the

[26:47]prophet salallahu alaihi he just arrived the Hadith in Sunni and Shia

[26:52]sources say the prophet became so happy he cried and he kissed

[26:59]jaffar on his forehead how great do you have to be for

[27:05]rasulullah to kiss your forehead just imagine and then he said the

[27:14]prophet says I don't know for which I am happier right now

[27:18]for the victory of khabar or for the arrival of jaffar that's

[27:25]how happy the prophet salallahu alaihi was now when Jaffa arrived 70

[27:31]Bishops Christian not Bishops monks 70 Christian monks arrived with him 62

[27:37]of them had come from Ethiopia and about eight of them from

[27:42]other parts of the Arabian peninsula they arrived to meet the prophet

[27:46]sallallahu alaihi so they met the prophet salallahu alaihi those Bishops the

[27:53]prophet personally served them he served them personally they were shocked your

[27:58]Prophet who has all these companions to support him he's personally serving

[28:05]us then they asked him can you recite some verses of the

[28:09]Quran the prophet salallahu alaihi recited Surah Yasin for them after hearing

[28:13]Surah Yasin they said we swear by Allah this is the type

[28:18]of Revelation that Jesus would receive these are the same teachings and

[28:22]we bear witness that there is no God but Allah and that

[28:27]you are the messenger of Allah Muhammad those Minds said the shahad

[28:37]detained and they became Muslim the clock of the Prophet attracted them

[28:40]he's serving us that's amazing so that's a beautiful incident that happened

[28:44]over there after the arrival of Jaffa now because the prophet was

[28:50]so happy for Jaffa and to honor him for his sacrifices where

[28:53]in Ethiopia the prophet salallahu alaihi gives him a gift the prophet

[28:58]told him I will give you a gift right now this gift

[29:04]is more precious than the universe and that which it contains now

[29:08]some companions with a materialistic attitude they thought that he's going to

[29:12]give him diamonds gold jewelry maybe some of these Spoils of War

[29:18]from money silver what are you going to give him the prophet

[29:21]salallahu alaihi gives him two you finish and then another two in

[29:33]each there is 75 subhanallahu alhamdulillah 75 times in each raika you

[29:45]say the you know fatah the Surah and then you say it

[29:48]15 times you say it 10 times you raise your head from

[29:53]ten times you go to suju 10 times you raise your head

[29:57]from the first suju ten times you go to the second ten

[30:02]times you raise your head from the second ten times how many

[30:04]in total 75 75 in each you have four rakas 75 times

[30:09]4 is how much 300.

[30:11]it has 300 the prophet told him this Salah that I am

[30:14]giving you is a special gift from Allah my dear brothers and

[30:20]sisters Hadith from the Imam says if you have sins as much

[30:23]as there are grains of sand on earth Allah will forgive you

[30:29]through the Salah if you have a Hijra if you have a

[30:32]need a pressing need and it's not being fulfilled praise I guarantee

[30:36]you Allah will answer it try it just try it and the

[30:41]best day to praise is on a Friday you fast on a

[30:48]Wednesday on a Thursday on a Friday you pray it before noon

[30:53]if you have a hijab this Friday you're already fasting this Friday

[30:56]prayer before you come to Salah if you're at work you cannot

[30:59]make it to Salah find about 45 minutes 40 minutes could take

[31:04]30 minutes and praise it's the special gift of Allah States after

[31:13]the wajah prayers the best Prayer by far is it's even greater

[31:20]in value than you've heard of you know the virtues of Salah

[31:24]is greater than that according to the Hadith this is the gift

[31:31]that the prophet now something over there in around with the wife

[31:44]of jaffar his wife was Asma Ben Thomas asthma goes in the

[31:50]tent of hafsa the daughter of um the wife of the prophet

[31:53]so she's sitting next to hafsa now this Hadith is mentioned in

[32:08]listen to what happens as smart as sitting next to hafsa the

[32:12]daughter of Omar um comes into the tent he realizes there's a

[32:17]lady sitting next to his daughter who's this lady she says this

[32:20]is the wife of of um here begins to verbally attack her

[32:31]he tells her all the habashia the Ethiopian the one who was

[32:37]in habasha and then he tells her we migrated before you we

[32:43]were quicker in migrating than you did and therefore we're closer to

[32:49]the prophet than you are these are the words as smart becomes

[32:56]very disturbed she becomes very frustrated with what he's saying imagine you

[33:02]have a people who are exiled from their country for more than

[33:07]10 years and now after a long journey they arrive instead of

[33:11]welcoming them you say that these are these are the words that

[33:15]you have to say to them and you didn't have any other

[33:18]words to welcome her she becomes so appalled by what he said

[33:23]these are the words of sahih Muslim she tells them you've lied

[33:27]and I swear by Allah I'm not going to eat or drink

[33:32]until I tell the prophet what you just said to me right

[33:33]now the prophet comes she tells him some of your companions they're

[33:38]harassing us verbally and they're saying these heinous things the prophet salallahu

[33:46]alaihi becomes very upset the prophet you are closer to me because

[33:54]you did the hejala twice the first time when you went to

[33:57]Ethiopia and now you came to Medina whereas those others meaning others

[34:01]they did the Hijra once so no you have a greater right

[34:05]you have a greater status and then she rebuked him she told

[34:14]him you were in Mecca the prophet was feeding you the prophet

[34:18]was spending on you of course from the money of who and

[34:20]we were in Ethiopia and we were struggling and this is what

[34:25]you say to us what do we conclude from this Hadith that

[34:30]sahih Muslim has narrated what do we conclude from this number one

[34:34]it seems that Asma was hinting that when you joined Islam you

[34:41]were benefiting him benefiting from it the prophet was spending on you

[34:43]that's number one number two Muslim as smart tells you've lied and

[34:51]the prophet hears of the conversation and he does not come to

[34:56]the defense of Omar what do you make of that you be

[34:58]the judge I'm just stating history over here you have a woman

[35:03]who accuses Umar of lying the prophet does not come to his

[35:10]defense the prophet says you are closer to me what does that

[35:12]indicate Muslim subhanallah five years later somehow he becomes Khalifa the prophet

[35:20]didn't make the effort to defend you when someone accused you of

[35:24]lying you think he's okay with you becoming Khalifa I don't know

[35:28]you be the judge here so this happened and then the last

[35:32]part in the life of jaffarattaya is one that is truly filled

[35:35]with sorrow what happened is they came to Medina they settled in

[35:42]Medina then the prophet salallahu alaihi sent an ambassador by the name

[35:47]of al-harif he told him go to Sham and I want you

[35:52]to meet the governor of busra who represents the Eastern Roman Empire

[35:56]the Byzantine Empire miraculous go to him I have a message there

[36:02]were indications that the Roman army Was preparing to fight Islam because

[36:07]Islam was spreading the prophet sends this man this messenger al-haareth he

[36:12]goes with a message from the prophet to the governor of busra

[36:17]the governor of Basra tortured him and he beheads him so the

[36:22]Roman Empire the Byzantine Empire they effectively declare war on Islam the

[38:54]left arm of Jafar amputated so he takes the banner under his

[38:58]underarm he takes it and he fights they surround him from every

[39:02]direction until they strike him yes I know what you're thinking right

[39:07]now what happened in karbara the prophet breaks into tears he tells

[39:11]them jaffar has fell as a martyr the prophet could not control

[39:18]himself from crying and he said people should cry on the likes

[39:24]of jaffar I want you my companions to cry on jafaratayar then

[39:28]the prophet goes to the house of asthma the wife of jaffar

[39:34]and the orphan children of jaffar they did not know yet the

[39:38]prophet goes Abdullahi narrates this Hadith he was a boy he was

[39:42]young at the time he says the prophet came to our house

[39:46]and he carried me in his lap and he started to Pat

[40:49]many good deeds Allah will bless him in his Allah will bless

[40:56]him in his progeny so the prophet was really touched really touched

[41:01]by Jaffa then the prophet he goes on the member carrying Abdullah

[41:05]IBN jaffar and he says to the Muslims Allah has given his

[41:08]father two Wings in Paradise mentions a similar Hadith here he says

[41:57]who flies because of those two wings so this brought a lot

[42:03]of Sorrow to the heart of the Prophet one Hadith states that

[42:07]when the prophets would go to the house of jaffar he would

[42:10]cry and he would say I miss Jaffa I miss speaking to

[42:13]Jaffa imagine how great he must have been for rasulullah to miss

[42:21]him and on the day of judgment you know what status on

[42:24]the day of judgment Allah will summon all the prophets the first

[42:30]of them knew him Allah will tell him no did you convey

[42:32]my message he says yes Ya Allah I conveyed your message the

[42:37]way you wanted Allah will tell him Noah do you have a

[42:39]witness do you have a Shaheed do you have a witness who

[42:44]will testify that you conveyed it Prophet will go searching for Prophet

[42:59]prophet calls on Hamza and jaffar he tells them on the day

[43:05]of judgment Hamza Jafar you go and testify that Noor conveyed his

[43:11]jaffar and Hamza will be the two witnesses for all the prophets

[43:17]of Allah that's the great status that Allah gave Jaffa but o
