[0:09]foreign [Music] all right come to all of you know I must
[1:24]say thank holiday weekend uh just before half term and I've seen
[1:31]I'm thrilled to see uh such a good turnout so uh it's
[1:35]a good start alhamdulillah so just a few points are really uh
[1:40]it's not going to be a long speech this time so the
[1:43]Russian Alpha this series started off back in Ramadan because every time
[1:46]we have a Ramadan month we start the the committee Center is
[1:52]very very much enlightened and and obviously towards the end we always
[1:59]tend to say we should carry on the spirit and it happens
[2:01]every year obviously not so we thought this time we follow through
[2:03]it and the the idea behind this series essentially as an as
[2:09]the name suggests it's a family event so we would love to
[2:12]see children it's an event to to have uh under increase our
[2:19]understanding about the Quran and obviously we try and keep it regularly
[2:23]so that the session there is some sort of continuity on it
[2:27]so we we're hoping once a month which is sort of just
[2:32]about the right time to to keep to keep up the enthusiasm
[2:36]we will make sure at the moment it's set up as the
[2:40]last Sunday of the month inshallah we will stick to that the
[2:45]only if there are any changes I'm assuming the last in July
[2:48]or because leader will correspond to the other but we will let
[2:51]you all know way in advance when there are any changes but
[2:54]we are hoping to keep it the last Sunday of every month
[2:56]so inshallah we look forward to seeing you all throughout these sessions
[3:02]and the next ones as well and we keep this link in
[3:04]terms of the speaker uh the coordinator umianti obviously is well known
[3:11]to the community uh even before my times so asking her to
[3:16]bring back was mutually just re-establishing a lost Link umanti is does
[3:21]a lot of work as you can see with the with the
[3:27]text and reference in front of you and she's a co-founder of
[3:29]Q Fatima we started in 1991.
[3:34]so without further Ado I would pass the the mic back to
[3:36]meant to conduct this session thank you very much for attending please
[3:45]please so you should each have one of these a map if
[3:56]you are over 12 years old then you should have one of
[4:04]these and if you're under 12 years old you should have one
[4:06]of these and each of you should have something to write with
[4:09]so you don't write it it's not going to work okay so
[4:13]we started for NCT in 2013 which is 10 years ago we're
[4:20]actually challenging the Norms basically because looking at the children that we
[4:25]used to teach at Workshop I found that as far as the
[4:30]Quran goes they knew the stories the stories of the prophets so
[4:33]if you wanted to illustrate something they would know the stories of
[4:36]the prophets you know with Prophet no they'd make an ark with
[4:41]Musa that make the stick and so on and so forth but
[4:43]when it came to knowing an overview of the Quran they didn't
[4:49]know anything so if you ask them what is Surah number 50
[4:52]they would go um don't know they may know the surahs that
[4:59]were recited in Salah but know them as parrots so as I
[5:03]call it in my cordial language they would bare in body so
[5:08]in Salah for example when you recite the surahs it would be
[5:14]and that was it and that is where Quran was used or
[5:19]maybe when somebody died or in the month of Ramadan so we
[5:22]were challenging the norms and we tried to find a way in
[5:25]which we could get these children especially and when I say children
[5:29]I'm actually saying parents but you can get to them through their
[5:33]children by being able to understand the Quran so the first thing
[5:38]we did was build a Lego City so we took a board
[5:44]it wasn't like this by the way it was just 114 buildings
[5:50]now Quran city has 114 buildings it will never grow it will
[5:56]never downsize the 114 buildings represent the 114 sewer of the Quran
[6:04]one Surah so many Sur I say surahs because at that time
[6:10]10 years ago when I used the word sewer because in the
[6:12]Gujarati language it means something else they wrote to all the mirage's
[6:15]office and said she's swearing but in the Arabic language it's one
[6:19]Surah and so many sewer but I'll call it sures so Quran
[6:24]city is 114 surahs will never downsize will never grow we made
[6:28]the buildings the height of the buildings according to the number of
[6:34]the ayat in the Surah so obviously the longest building or the
[6:39]tallest building was Surat al-baqarah and the shortest building was right so
[6:43]they're made in proportion so in the first instance it was just
[6:47]like a whole row of buildings then we thought we got to
[6:50]distinguish between makkhi and madani now maybe here you will see that
[6:54]we got all the teachers and the students to build and maybe
[6:57]we can do that one day in one of the sessions as
[7:00]well where you'll build it with Lego and it's really interesting so
[7:02]we thought we've got to make a distinction between Maki and madani
[7:06]because it's really important to know which are Makin which is madani
[7:13]so we decided we'd have yellow tops for madani and green tops
[7:16]for no yellow tops from Maki and green thought so madani why
[7:20]because the embroidery on the Kaaba is yellow and the Derm of
[7:27]the Prophet is green now there's 86 monkey and 28 madanisuras if
[7:32]you look there which are 86.
[7:36]talk about the why of religion madani talk about the how of
[7:45]religion so the usul is basically is maki and the furu is
[7:49]in madani more emphasis is done on makki 86 verses 28.
[7:54]now yes there are some madani ayat in makisura and there are
[7:58]some monkey ayat in madani Surah but this is the general categorization
[8:03]that the ulama have done so if you look at your map
[8:07]and the children can look at it as well you will see
[8:09]green and yellow can you see green and yellow there's green squares
[8:14]in yellow squares now if you're not 12 you need to Crown
[8:17]all the green squares and put the number on top and count
[8:21]all the yellow squares and put it on top and hopefully I
[8:23]haven't made a mistake so there will be 86 yellow and 28
[8:28]green now if you look at the screen that you have it
[8:30]will actually tell you what Maki and madani are so you will
[8:36]see matki Surah as the ayatar brief you will find this invitation
[8:39]to basically it is see usul is three dohit nabua and Imam
[8:48]go together so in essence there are three adala is part of
[8:53]so I will call it recognizing divinity then you have Divine guidance
[9:00]and then you have accountability so most in fact almost everything in
[9:05]the makisuras will be focused on that which tells me and you
[9:08]that there is a major differentiation in the way we teach because
[9:13]we teach more of the how than the why when here 86
[9:19]Ry and then comes the how so modern you will find the
[9:22]verses are long they're formal there's a lot of while here there's
[9:28]the ayuhan nas or you who of all people and all you
[9:35]who believe so that's my key and modern just jump some general
[9:38]stuff now what you need to know just general stuff the 6236
[9:41]ayat in the Quran it's good to know these numbers 6236 114
[9:47]sewer or suras it was never revealed as sipara or Jews it
[9:52]was much later on that it was done into like people divided
[9:58]it into exactly 30 parts so they'll be able to finish a
[10:01]recitation in a month if you look at your Quran at the
[10:05]bottom you will see manzil or monazil so there's seven manasil so
[10:09]if you wanted to finish the recitation in a week you would
[10:13]follow what's written at the bottom then this Quran was sent to
[10:17]Russia to a place called bukhar now in buhar the ulama bear
[10:23]wanted to finish the Quran in tarawiya the rawya finishes on the
[10:27]27th of Ramadan do you know 20 20 times 27 oh come
[10:33]on sorry I gotta wake you up bank holiday weekend 500 and
[10:36]40.
[10:37]so they wanted to divide the Quran into 540 sections so they
[10:43]did sort of a general subject Division and they called it Ruku
[10:47]you know there's an iron we call it a Makara in Gujarati
[10:52]or Urdu right now the makra in inverted brackets is actually called
[10:56]a Ruku has three numbers one at the top one in the
[11:02]middle and one at the bottom the top is the Ruku number
[11:04]in the Surah the bottom in the Jews and the middle tells
[11:09]you how many ayat in that Ruku so these people in buhar
[11:11]did a sort of General if I can say they went through
[11:16]topics and they put it in a generalized way so they had
[11:18]540.
[11:18]but the Indians didn't like the Russians as usual so they made
[11:28]some more rukus and their rukus come to 558 so if you
[11:31]have an Indian Quran it will have 558 if you have a
[11:38]Russian or an Arabic Quran it will be 500 and 40 okay
[11:42]there are Indians also stole the Arabic numbers so the Arabs told
[11:47]the English numbers but that's another story altogether okay but this is
[11:52]basically some general bits about the Quran so we had this Quran
[11:55]and we thought okay now what do we do because it also
[11:59]has a chronological order so the order you and I have is
[12:04]the order the prophet put of the Quran one two three four
[12:06]and so on while if you look at the chronological order the
[12:09]marquisuras and then the madani so the first Surah that was revealed
[12:15]obviously you know Surat Al fatih was revealed twice because it says
[12:18]but the first one was which is revealed to the prophet when
[12:29]he was on the mountain you all know that right so you
[12:31]have 96 and then 68 and then 73 so what we did
[12:36]was if you look at your books as adults you speak any
[12:38]Surah let's let's just turn your books Let's Speak Surah to Noor
[12:44]which is Surah number 24.
[12:44]okay page 68 and 69 I've just turned the page so when
[12:50]we teach children we tell them each Surah has a postcode so
[12:54]the postcode of Surah donor is 110 2422 can you see what
[13:00]110 24 22 because that's the chronological order the Surah that was
[13:06]revealed before it and the Surah that was revealed after it have
[13:11]you got it look at the bottom you at the bottom there
[13:16]you've got early monkey then you've got middle Marquee late late late
[13:20]late um Marquee and then you've got madani can you see that
[13:24]at the bottom page 68 and 69 is that you see where
[13:29]the postcode comes from so that basically taught the children that there
[13:32]was a chronological order as well and hopefully somewhere in the future
[13:38]if we have life and and time allows we'll be able to
[13:40]do a whole sort of connection because each one sort of if
[13:44]I can say dovetails onto the other but that's that's something else
[13:48]too then we thought okay now what do we do the first
[13:53]thing we thought was would build this city now you've got to
[13:57]have some rules in entering this city so if you look at
[13:59]your map you've got a little gate there can you see that
[14:04]it says on it and then near the gate it says to
[14:08]be able to enter this city you have to do wudu you
[14:11]have to be able to recite in Arabic or learn how to
[14:15]recite in Arabic or be in the process of reciting in Arabic
[14:17]because that's the language of the Quran right you have to seek
[14:22]protection from shaytan so every time you recite every time you go
[14:25]to Quran you say then you will start in the name of
[14:32]Allah which is Bismillah then you would say Lila now this is
[14:37]a schedule of what you need to do because that takes you
[14:39]into a zone of of saying he is the one and then
[14:44]the Dua of the prophet and the Dua of the Prophet is
[14:46]which is make my heart if the guitar so basically I want
[14:52]to fall in love with your book it literally it says teach
[14:58]me or make me internalize the Quran into my heart as you
[15:02]have taught me okay and that's every time you start looking at
[15:08]this book okay then we have a road Network so we divided
[15:13]this this Quran into different sections and I'll go over them in
[15:18]a minute but each one needed to be connected by a road
[15:21]Network and we call that road Network M14 which is the 14
[15:23]masumin so you could not be able to understand any of the
[15:29]chapters or any of the surahs unless you referred to the Hadith
[15:33]of the masumin okay right now if you look at your city
[15:39]and I'm gonna go into camera in a minute in fact let
[15:42]me go back to the city there we go if you look
[15:47]at that City you have a city center and the City Center
[15:52]is the chapters that are directly referring to the Quran look at
[15:55]your maps and you will see it right in the middle I
[15:58]think I've got you got these that one that's the city center
[16:02]so we first created a city center and you can see the
[16:04]city center is a queue oh by the way when we were
[16:07]doing this we looked at the morphology of Medina which means how
[16:10]did the prophet build Madina so we went through the whole structure
[16:13]of how he built Medina what he did where he put the
[16:18]industries where he put the parks so on and so forth okay
[16:21]so we started the city center and the City Center is four
[16:23]surahs and we'll go on to these as we go to the
[16:28]different sections and around the city center we've got 19 suburbs all
[16:31]around there and I'll tell you each one as we go along
[16:35]because it's just an introduction but we're going to start with suratul
[16:37]Kamar which is right at the top and now I'll try and
[16:43]get this little camera so right at the top of Quran City
[16:47]you have surital Kamar the reason why we put Kamar there was
[16:50]a the Moon and you and I as Muslims identified by the
[16:53]moon the moment somebody sees the moon they say Muslims right so
[16:58]we put it up there but also four times in this Surah
[17:02]Allah says does anybody know what he says think go to your
[17:08]book go to your Quran good and I'm gonna make you think
[17:11]a little bit here because otherwise you're all going to go to
[17:15]sleep Surah number 54.
[17:15]can you see that it's page one to eight so basically if
[17:34]I translate this in in very simple language he says is there
[17:38]anyone who wishes to understand the Quran or let me put it
[17:45]a bit I'll put it paraphrase it we have made the Quran
[17:47]extremely easy for Anyone who puts a tiny bit of effort yes
[17:58]so in the Quran or rather in Arabic you have is somebody
[18:05]who puts in a lot of effort in Remembering then you have
[18:10]somebody puts in a little bit less effort but the the word
[18:15]used here is somebody who puts a tiny bit of effort he
[18:17]says just put a tiny bit of effort and you'll be able
[18:21]to internalize it I'm gonna stress again that maybe all of you
[18:23]remember this Ayah because when you went into inverted brackets big Quran
[18:28]it is this book no doubt is a guidance for those who
[18:40]believe it didn't say it is just a book of recitation so
[18:45]it's supposed to take me somewhere and when we go to certified
[18:49]we'll see it so the reason why I put Gummer there was
[18:50]because tiny bit of effort he doesn't even say a lot he
[18:57]just emphasizes just a little bit of effort then the city center
[19:03]for surahs 25 96 97 98 now if you go onto the
[19:08]website I don't have time today but I would have loved to
[19:10]do mnemonics with you if you only start for an hour maybe
[19:14]one day in the future in an hour I guarantee you you
[19:19]would know the names of the Surah in their order within an
[19:22]hour by learning mnemonics mnemonics are really really easy okay so right
[19:28]now 25 96 97 98 furukan tells you who you would become
[19:32]if you recite the Quran and who you would become if you
[19:39]didn't so there's who then you have 96 which is Alec which
[19:41]is how the Quran was revealed which you all know when the
[19:46]Quran was revealed and finally you have suratul baijina which tells you
[19:50]what the Quran is in essence it tells you it's a crystal
[19:55]clear message but the Quran and the prophet go hand in hand
[19:58]okay so we put a city center around the city center oh
[20:05]okay so before cities before around the center right at the bottom
[20:09]you've got Viewpoint Terrace can you see it this is the order
[20:14]that the admin have put okay not me so I'm doing what
[20:16]they've said so Viewpoint Terrace is an aspiration of every Muslim so
[20:23]each of you each of us all of us want to be
[20:26]a moment we want to believe we want to be put in
[20:28]that group so it's by the way these two sures also we
[20:31]didn't know what to do with them so we put them in
[20:34]Viewpoint Terrace so you want to be a mop mean but Zoomer
[20:40]is Companions of Jannah and jahannam but my children tell me that
[20:43]you want to be a man who wants to zoom to Jannah
[20:45]can you remember that so Viewpoint Terrace Zoom Zoomer is companions Companions
[20:51]of Jannah and Johanna but you want to go to Jannah inshallah
[20:55]when we do Zuma you will see how beautiful that is so
[20:59]now we started with Divine Center in other words now we started
[21:05]with usul tohid which is recognition of Allah then we went obviously
[21:08]to Divine guidance and then we went to Kiama so if you
[21:12]look underneath City Center you've got Divine Center and atuseras we've put
[21:21]here 55 and 67 55 is 67 is Mulk the only Asma
[21:24]that is used as the title of a chapter is Rahman what
[21:30]we're developing this year we've got it somewhere here is the same
[21:33]thing but a small husna maybe some years later we'll do it
[21:37]if if life gets there okay so that's Divine Center either side
[21:41]of divine Center you've got two things you would harm me that
[21:46]Center Crescent and you've got Musa bihad Crescent hamidad Crescent is all
[21:53]those chapters that begin with you know when you say alhamdulillah is
[21:58]Not Just Praise It's a combination of praise and gratitude okay so
[22:05]all the chapters and this is divisions that have been done by
[22:08]the olama by the way they've called these all hamidat we've just
[22:10]put it in a city and call it amidad present so there's
[22:14]1 6 18 34 and 35 not gonna go in each one
[22:19]don't get scared but hopefully you will read them in the book
[22:21]and go through them my favorite ones are these seven chapters seven
[22:27]days in a week they all start with Subhan Subhan comes from
[22:33]the Arabic word sabaha which means to swim or to float you
[22:37]can only float if you have a perfect balance so that's what
[22:43]Subhan is about the prophet would not sleep until he read one
[22:46]of these every night so what I tell the children is at
[22:52]least memorize one Ayah the first Ayah of each of these obviously
[22:54]on Thursday night you will do jamoire so you could start Thursday
[22:58]Friday Saturday so Israel on Sunday Hadid on Monday hasher on Tuesday
[23:07]stuff on Wednesday July on Thursday on Friday and Saturday is a
[23:12]Allah they're phenomenal surahs the prophet used to say they have Islam
[23:16]in them and if you want to reach Heights these are the
[23:19]surestary site as in every night before you go to sleep so
[23:23]say you find it difficult to recite all of them at least
[23:25]one Ayah and slowly it'll build up as you go along now
[23:30]we come to Divine guidance which is what you call nubowa and
[23:35]imama and if you look at that if you look at your
[23:36]Maps here which it just cut out a bit from there we've
[23:40]called it Muhammad Square and in Muhammad Square you've got various things
[23:46]I'm going to start with circle can you see that you got
[23:50]and suratul Go sir are you gonna do that because the heart
[23:54]talks about the you know the story when they fasted for three
[23:59]days and then the poor man came you know the story yes
[24:01]no maybe but oh thank God for that okay so that is
[24:04]the Surah of the bed and cother is basically about Fatima so
[24:12]gotha is Lam so we put both these in a holiday Circle
[24:15]then we had 47 48 and 49 which is literally talking about
[24:22]the prophet it's respect to the prophet I won't go into each
[24:24]one right now then we have nidar street again this is what
[24:30]the ulama have called the surahs Nida means to call out so
[24:34]each one will say except 73 and 74 would say directly calls
[24:44]the prophet now there are two surahs in Muhammad square that we
[24:49]put on the street halfway and I'll tell you when we get
[24:56]to Jerusalem there were Taha and yeah scene because those two start
[25:01]well which is the cut letters and there's 29 surahs which we'll
[25:04]go into in a minute okay and then obviously Kiama clothes so
[25:10]you can see how it builds up you've got tawheed you've got
[25:13]nabua and then right at the top you've got priyama and although
[25:16]there are many other sewer of the Quran that talk about Kiama
[25:20]these are the ones we put in Kiama clothes which will give
[25:23]you a vivid picture of the day of judgment okay I'm not
[25:27]going to go into each one right now okay now you have
[25:31]four corners start with kulkona there are five cools although we only
[25:35]know four the other one that we don't normally know is Jin
[25:41]suratul Jin starts with actually means okay if you say it means
[25:52]eat if you say ah it means say so it's cool even
[25:53]when you're praying all right so maybe one day then we have
[25:59]woman's corner so all the Surah the Tena talk about women who
[26:03]had titles with women in them we put them here there was
[26:06]Maryam there was Nisa muja de la and mumtahana and you can
[26:11]see Maryam we sort of put at the edge because it goes
[26:14]into Rufus because it starts with so we put it there okay
[26:21]if ever in life you have a problem that's not moving away
[26:25]it could be a person who people are not problems normally but
[26:30]if they are readila three times has a phenomenal effect in fact
[26:35]I would read much every day if I were you it just
[26:39]prevention is better than cure um just one more thing actually talks
[26:43]about a woman who changed hola her name was who changed the
[26:49]whole law literally by talking to the prophet and Allah changes the
[26:53]law because of her but when we come to the Surah we'll
[26:56]get to it then we have karbachona is coming up this is
[27:01]so you've got a Hajj coming up and these are the three
[27:03]we're doing at workshop for this term which is if you go
[27:11]on the website that you've got a full explanation of each of
[27:16]them okay then we have exiled Corner the children call it noticona
[27:19]you see noticona right at the top so naughty corner has all
[27:25]the sower they're not very good so you can see in that
[27:28]corner the yellow ones are he frowned when you've got mutafeen you've
[27:32]got takarthur you've got homoza you've got my own and lab but
[27:37]when they go to Medina they couldn't Express their Badness straight out
[27:41]so you can see now they're to hide it so you've got
[27:45]munafikun there can you see you couldn't outright be bad because you've
[27:49]declared yourself as Muslims so now you've got to be covert about
[27:53]that now if you're an exiled corner you need to come out
[27:55]because you're in prison right to come out you've got to go
[27:58]to Toba turn now these two surahs are linked through to unfal
[28:02]and sorted tawba and there is always an ability to make a
[28:09]u-turn so to come out it's like Monopoly you're going to come
[28:11]out you need get out of jail you need certain things you
[28:15]need Toba okay that's all that's why we thought every city needs
[28:17]an energy source it needs power so in energy Zone because nor
[28:26]is all about energy positive energy okay and then you need somewhere
[28:32]to chill somewhere to sit down and chill so when the prophet
[28:34]was really really upset he would go for a walk and in
[28:39]Medina he built Gardens where you could actually walk and sit down
[28:42]somewhere but the true story that took him through the most difficult
[28:48]times of his life in which he would say later on that
[28:49]If Ever I was stuck these are the two sword I would
[28:54]recite is the ha and and Shira by the way you talk
[28:57]about okay so I'll just use surahs for to make it easy
[29:03]and these gave him comfort so every any time you find life
[29:07]is getting a bit difficult these are the two who are too
[29:09]or the two who are attained to recite and there we go
[29:14]we had a healthy zone they're all about healthy eating these days
[29:17]we actually moved it out it was somewhere else where we created
[29:22]another Zone because it's got milk fruits and honey and it talks
[29:25]about the Bee by the way do you know how you remember
[29:28]16 is knuckle so in the English language you say sweet 16
[29:34]right what is sweet honey and what is this at least you
[29:38]know what Surah number 16 is right okay great begin with letters
[29:48]that just the Arabs had never heard the Arabs were Masters are
[29:53]literature but they'd never heard of something like this before and suddenly
[29:57]Allah brings these letters in they're all abbreviated right so you have
[30:01]tasin you have the singles which are noon cough and oh by
[30:09]the way through what rhymes with cough house and what's half in
[30:18]percentage 50.
[30:17]so what is Surah number 50.
[30:19]ass okay this is methodologies to remember but these were 29 sore
[30:26]and it's easy to remember because Kata means to cut but in
[30:28]English Cut means to cut as well there's 29 of them and
[30:36]you can now see why Maryam Taha and Yasin were placed over
[30:40]there okay now we had some swords that were left over these
[30:45]two ambian knew we didn't know where to put them so if
[30:48]you look at raat place in place you've got you knows who
[30:55]the use of Ibrahim can you see them and we thought Noah
[30:58]would feel a little bit lonely if we put him separately so
[31:03]we put him near there near our art place so we called
[31:05]it Ambia Annex and we put them there but also you will
[31:09]find have a look and see what suratul ambiya begins with any
[31:13]idea anyway I'll leave that up to you these are some things
[31:17]that you need to look and have a look at then we've
[31:18]got custom place I gotta explain a little bit about custom place
[31:23]okay so these are surahs where Allah swears now in you if
[31:26]you have a book here I also make notes in the book
[31:29]which sort of helps a little bit I haven't added a lot
[31:31]of stuff here now the Arabs if they wanted your attention pre-quran
[31:37]pre-islam used to say so if they wanted a headline they would
[31:44]say I swear by the flower and people knew that that person
[31:47]wanted to tell you something interesting using that same concept Allah changes
[31:54]it so basically the object becomes the proof of the subject the
[31:58]object which is being sworn about in the Quran Allah doesn't need
[32:04]to swear to prove its truthfulness it becomes the in in actual
[32:07]word if I can say it becomes a proof of the subject
[32:09]let me give you an example um have you got your qurans
[32:13]here have you got a book here have you got a phone
[32:15]with your Quran go to through Ayah number 74 75.
[32:22]you've got lots of ground at the back okay uh number 75
[32:31]says I swear by the placement of the Stars this is what
[32:40]Allah says I swear by the by this by the placement of
[32:46]the Stars if only you knew this is a huge custom a
[32:54]huge thing I'm swearing by now what does he say Ayah number
[32:59]77 he says in getting indeed this is an honorable Quran the
[33:07]stars were used by the Arabs in the desert the placement of
[33:12]the Stars showed you Direction it was navigational purposes so here the
[33:18]object of the swearing of the qasim is a star the placement
[33:23]of the Stars placement of the Stars means navigation the subject is
[33:28]the Quran so he's telling you and me that just as the
[33:31]stars are guiding you physically in the desert the Quran will guide
[33:37]you in your life can you see that every single bit in
[33:39]that place in cousin plays every oath in there will talk about
[33:45]it while us questions are inshallah we'll do all of these when
[33:48]we get to the Sewer then we have Victory Circle which is
[33:52]if you look at City Center at the top you've got Victory
[33:56]Circle and I mean this is a no-brainer is Victory is you
[34:07]all know that and then we put caramel clothes we had to
[34:12]because at the end of the day that is where the last
[34:16]Revelation is this day I perfected your religion for you so he
[34:23]called it Carmel close and we said that was the last revelation
[34:27]every single building that you've got here if you've got a book
[34:30]you will see it there's a color directory and that is literally
[34:35]the color directory but when we go to the buildings you'll understand
[34:38]what I'm doing there but today I'd like to take you through
[34:43]a building and I'll take you through before I go there what
[34:46]I suggest you do is you turn your map round and we've
[34:51]got a blank one there can you see that so that's your
[34:56]homework hopefully before next week now next month yeah sorry not next
[35:01]week you will try and fill in those blanks do you think
[35:04]you could do them yeah so you just go back and forth
[35:10]like that we've got lots more here if you want to take
[35:12]them okay but just see if you can manage to do that
[35:16]go on the website learn the mnemonics and see if you know
[35:19]all 100 and 114.
[35:22]are you good no you'll try you'll try but you know what
[35:27]if nothing else at least try maybe just Quran City Center maybe
[35:32]those that you can you can manage that whatever you can do
[35:35]okay so that's basically your homework but I'd like to go through
[35:38]through and this is basically how we teach so we went through
[35:45]a modular process at Q Fatima the first thing is Q read
[35:50]Curie teaches you how to recite Quran Arabic nothing replaces the beauty
[35:54]of the Quran and you can only experience Quran in Salah you
[35:58]have to move away from the KOJA methodology or mentality whereby you
[36:02]only recite the short surahs in Salah if you ask amokoja I
[36:07]love being a KOJA okay so I'm not taking that away from
[36:11]it I mean I am really proud of being a kojo but
[36:12]as coaches we recite Surah Fatiha and then maybe it's I mean
[36:21]maybe you know the days that we're a bit maybe maybe on
[36:26]Eid Shams and Allah but that's it and if you've you know
[36:33]say I'm reciting suratul I don't know today they'll tell you to
[36:38]sunicho it's not like that and that brings me to another thing
[36:41]five prayers five times a day it was convenient to pay three
[36:47]five prayers three times a day so good to know the times
[36:49]good to recite different Source anyway different story all together right now
[36:53]this is how we teach so the module thing was first cured
[36:57]second it was having an overview of the Quran like this keep
[37:00]it in front of you okay and then to look at it
[37:04]and to be able to know all the sore so if I
[37:07]were to tell you where is Surah number two you'd immediately know
[37:10]it's in Mima to place if I asked you where's Surah number
[37:15]63 you tell me it's definitely in the exiled Corner if I
[37:19]ask you where 62 what would you tell me if I asked
[37:26]you I don't know 76 and 108 come on you got to
[37:33]know those 76 riddle in sun and suratul kova a little bait
[37:36]Circle so like that just test yourself and keep on learning them
[37:40]as you go along but do it or not not like most
[37:43]of the children do their bags from a dress I don't know
[37:47]about your children but the ones I see the bags of my
[37:48]dress that go in the boot of their mom's cars and come
[37:52]out the following Saturday or Sunday okay this should be done on
[37:54]a daily basis for you to be able to do it so
[37:57]I said Q read learning how to recite having an overview of
[38:01]the Quran looking at this and then looking at each Surah and
[38:05]first of all knowing its axis axes is its focus so all
[38:11]the ulama all the scholars of the Quran some have called it
[38:13]some have called it all different things but in essence it's the
[38:15]focus of every Surah and then the key concept of that Surah
[38:20]we're not out here to make ulama that you go to HOSA
[38:24]for it's just a matter of knowing this book and then we'll
[38:26]talk about how you will Journal it but that's we'll go into
[38:31]that so let's look at suratrophatia which you recite every day and
[38:33]all of you know the Surah by heart so I don't have
[38:36]to worry about you looking at the Quran okay so if you
[38:38]look at the building it's open your books which you have here
[38:42]and turn to it's on page 22 okay so you've got surital
[38:49]fatihad there so the first thing you look at is right at
[38:57]the top we've put the focus of that Surah Surat al-fatya is
[39:02]in essence the summary of the Quran so imagine you went shopping
[39:08]for a God you didn't have a god you just started right
[39:11]go for a clean slate okay let me try and bring you
[39:16]into that mode um have you watched that movie what's it called
[39:24]you should know it about the fish what's he called Nemo yeah
[39:29]yeah so now Nemo is a fish right isn't he and his
[39:34]parents get attacked in a Barracuda attack is that right am I
[39:37]right okay so I remember when my daughter was little she's 22
[39:43]now 20 22 22 now okay she's 22 now the youngest one
[39:47]and I remember that's when Nemo first came out when she was
[39:51]five or six now when we were watching Finding Nemo is that
[39:54]what it's called Finding Nemo when we were watching Finding Nemo if
[39:56]you gave her fish fingers she won't eat it because there was
[40:02]a paradigm shift in her head that Nemo was real and eating
[40:05]fish fingers was like being a barracuda and that you were eating
[40:10]fish but as soon as that finished she would have fish fingers
[40:14]it was funny isn't it that's called a paradigm shift it's how
[40:18]you change right so right now change and imagine you have no
[40:21]religion at all and you were looking through everywhere to find a
[40:25]God so you went shopping for a God and you went through
[40:28]all the books and in this book you found that this God
[40:34]of of Islam had four qualities he was rub rub is someone
[40:37]who takes you with your hand step by step to your full
[40:43]potential that is my my rub have mercy on my parents just
[40:51]as they guided me to my full potential when I was little
[40:55]so Rob is someone who guides you to your full potential whatever
[40:59]you want to be you know he takes you that then he
[41:05]was Rahman and Rahim Rahman is somebody someone who is extremely incredibly
[41:09]merciful to everyone I would give the example of a dentist if
[41:14]I have a toothache the only thing I want to know is
[41:20]for that dentist to do something to that tooth take it out
[41:23]do whatever you want to do but get rid of my pain
[41:27]that is Rahman immediate now but if I want my teeth to
[41:34]be okay then I see a hygienist and I actually subscribe to
[41:37]the to the to the dental institution or whatever it is the
[41:42]dental practice so the hygienist is Rahim is exclusive Mercy for those
[41:49]who subscribe to Allah so those who connect to Allah so you
[41:52]have Rahman to all you can't say y'allah don't be Rahman to
[41:55]whatever because he's not a Muslim doesn't work like that so he's
[42:01]Rahman to all and then he's Rahim an extra Mercy to those
[42:04]who are connected to him now also Rahman is immediate Rahim is
[42:10]constant there are so many different types about it but in essence
[42:15]cover all aspects of incredibly kind okay so you found this God
[42:23]who was Rob he was Rahman and he was Rahim and thank
[42:24]God for that he's the one you are accountable to Maliki or
[42:30]Maliki yomid so if I had accountability I'd go to him Prophet
[42:33]Musa he says yeah Allah I just want to see how kind
[42:40]you are so it says Musa look at that Mom and mom
[42:42]was looking after a baby he was screaming and if you haven't
[42:46]had screaming babies then there's something wrong with you okay so screaming
[42:51]baby mom picks up the child feeds the child changes the child
[42:54]rocks the child by the child still screams so Mom puts the
[42:59]baby in a cradle and walks away for a minute for a
[43:03]breather and goes back to the baby and Allah says Musa did
[43:06]you see that mother did you see it I am 70 times
[43:13]more Rahman than that Mom so if you found that it is
[43:15]this this God whom you are accountable to no anybody else I
[43:21]mean I will subscribe to him he who is Allah I'd say
[43:25]that's the first section who is Allah so immediately that's the first
[43:36]section we've divided all the buildings into section the first section is
[43:41]who is Allah and immediately when I recognize these qualities I say
[43:45]is we wish to subscribe to you we want to enter your
[43:53]institution we want to be your up up and rubber sort of
[43:59]it's like a mirror like coal and fuel they say when an
[44:01]app is like coal and Rob is like like the like if
[44:05]you call the if you've called the Flames When the Call Comes
[44:08]near the Flames it takes the qualities of the rub right so
[44:14]but you know being alone is really hard so imagine for a
[44:21]minute close your eyes and imagine your house in Jannah go on
[44:25]it's called all your PlayStations go everything you ever wanted you imagine
[44:32]it okay but you're all alone in there what are you gonna
[44:40]do no Essex no pherom no oh God yeah nobody absolutely nobody
[44:42]just you and your beautiful home how many days will you survive
[44:47]one two five ten fifteen twenty maybe a month and then and
[44:55]no phone because you can't communicate with anybody else well that's that's
[45:00]hard isn't it no Facebook no Instagram no Snapchat no nobody just
[45:05]you and everything you wanted that is why you don't say yeah
[45:11]okay we we we wish to so whoever you want in your
[45:20]circle we wish to be those connected to you now there's lots
[45:26]of words for for help in Arabic but the word used here
[45:33]is is the Anna istiana is a word that is used for
[45:35]something you are already doing but you need help in you can't
[45:40]say nothing you can't say I want help for something you're not
[45:44]doing anything about is Ya Allah I'm already trying I'm trying I
[45:49]need your help or we need your help so he says what
[45:53]do you need help in so you say is guide us sirat
[46:01]by the way there are three words for us for Road in
[46:07]Arabic there's sirat there is Tariq and there's also sabil you probably
[46:10]have heard of them sirat has no plural sirat is straight so
[46:21]guide us on the path and mustakim sirat already means straight it's
[46:27]horrible when you read the translation because it says guide us on
[46:30]the straight path no guide us on the path that is vertical
[46:34]what do you say when you pray salahi basically the part that
[46:47]is going up from down to okay so guide me on the
[46:52]path which will take me closest to Divinity because the prophet said
[46:55]adopting yourself of Allah which means you're small husna I want to
[47:01]reach my full potential whenever you say guide us to our full
[47:07]potential so he gives you the answer in the third section he
[47:10]says very very simple I'm gonna go back in your books you
[47:20]have all this so we started with that we went there and
[47:26]we said it gives you an answer he said very simple follow
[47:38]the path of Those whom I have blessed past tense that's what
[47:46]he says that's his answer because you and I asked him so
[47:51]he gave an answer the path of Those whom I have already
[47:57]blessed not those on whom there is angry he doesn't say my
[48:00]anger his anger no he says on whom there is General anger
[48:04]and neither those who are lost so your first question or my
[48:12]first question as a human being who reads the Quran would be
[48:15]Allah who have you blessed isn't that the logical answer if you
[48:19]told someone show me the way to London and they say follow
[48:25]she who always gets there on time obviously obviously the question is
[48:29]who is she or who is he if I don't ask then
[48:35]that means I'm not even thinking so he says him follow the
[48:41]path of Those whom I have blessed simple question is Ya Allah
[48:46]who have you blessed he says simple read the rest of my
[48:49]Quran and you'll find out good yeah it's quite simple it's not
[48:55]not that difficult Okay so let me go back a bit that
[48:59]denotes desperation how many times do you and I say this 10
[49:03]times a day is guide us to our full potential okay and
[49:10]he gives the answer really well so what I'm gonna do is
[49:16]just take you very briefly through the and then we'll go to
[49:18]journaling through the one that the Surah that everybody says is really
[49:25]difficult longest Surah of the Quran if you ask somebody they say
[49:31]which means I have a headache just thinking about it like all
[49:35]right so I'm going to take you through this Surah because we
[49:38]need to learn all of them like this so This Surah basically
[49:41]if you look at it right at the top in your book
[49:45]it's on page 24.
[49:45]it's a long as Surah 1 12 of the Quran but in
[49:49]essence if you look at the Surah it is trying to understand
[49:53]Iman through history if you don't understand anything you got to look
[49:57]through history and that's how it takes you we are Shares are
[50:00]very very particular about this you learn from lessons of the past
[50:05]and then you move forward in life has nine sections you good
[50:10]with that nine sections easy it's got nine sections I'm gonna do
[50:17]it in about a minute okay section one it's a university imagine
[50:22]surusal bakar as a university and imagine you entered that University but
[50:26]they told you you choose the class we're not going to put
[50:29]you in a class you choose the class you want to go
[50:33]into because nobody can judge you you either believe or you don't
[50:37]believe or you're on the fence it's entirely up to you up
[50:41]to you you don't have to tell anyone there are three classes
[50:44]here either you cover up the truth which is what kafara means
[50:48]or kafiron means you know the truth but you cover it up
[50:50]or you believe or you're on the fence good with that first
[50:55]section first University first class second section he says this University belongs
[50:58]to me talks about Allah that's the second section the third section
[51:03]he says that's my first student who entered my University you're good
[51:09]I'm gonna go over it fourth section these are my naughty students
[51:13]they take up a lot of Surat al-baqarah all right let's not
[51:17]call them naughty they were my challenging students do you know why
[51:23]it's called bakra they were asked to sacrifice a cow what color
[51:26]how old where from what which what when all the rest of
[51:30]it just didn't go and do it straight away star student Prophet
[51:36]Ibrahim next section that was my star student now he says now
[51:40]you know the history of my University of how Faith came about
[51:43]I'm going to change your Qibla and inaugurate you into a new
[51:49]class because you can't go in a historical class that's where change
[51:52]of Qibla comes right section 7 that whole section is about what
[51:59]you do whether you fast or you you can see that all
[52:03]those different things in there what you eat and the most beautiful
[52:08]eye in there is beautiful have a look at it 177.
[52:13]next section he says all right so now you know what to
[52:18]do we need to look at some long-term Investments you can't just
[52:23]sit here and just have a ba you've got to do a
[52:27]masters that's Masters okay and there you will have Idol Kersey and
[52:30]it'll tell you all the different things and finally the last section
[52:34]is like a CPD it's a reiteration of your core beliefs is
[52:46]all right so let's go over this again without you looking at
[52:51]it I'm just going to go and select a diet Surah number
[52:55]two Focus Faith through history how many sections don't look at your
[53:03]books how many sections nine okay first section put yourself in a
[53:08]class believer non-believer or sitting on the fence second section who does
[53:13]University belong to Allah third section who was the first student Adam
[53:19]next section challenging students next section star student and you can always
[53:28]remember five Ibrahim is a star student okay next section six come
[53:31]on inauguration of a new class because change of Qibla seven what
[53:35]you learn in that class all the rules that you learn about
[53:41]eight long-term Investments nine CPD you know bakra now literally you know
[53:45]Baker in a matter of minutes it's literally that is basically the
[53:50]different different sections of Makara you can then go into each eye
[53:55]and we'll go into journaling and I'll show you what to do
[53:57]are you comfortable with that okay so each Surah we've done like
[54:01]that and I've taken you to the hardest one which is backer
[54:03]so you can imagine all the others are like I mean they're
[54:05]really easy okay we've picked some selected eye out here so there's
[54:15]a dwell Prophet Ibrahim Direction um you all know that 2156 we
[54:22]say it all the time what it means to be a good
[54:26]person so on and so forth you can read all those as
[54:28]you go along and you can you can put them in we've
[54:31]also done children's books you've got one there but these were kaswa
[54:35]visits so we took a little camel called kaswa we gave all
[54:37]the children a soft camel and we've done all these books that
[54:41]go into it again they're all on the website and you can
[54:43]access them from there but this is what we're working on this
[54:47]year which is A99 this is the latest version and hopefully we
[54:53]will look at it at some point in the future or you
[54:57]will look at it on the website and see as it grows
[55:01]okay so before I go on to anything else and this is
[55:03]literally the end have you got any questions anything at all ah
[55:18]maybe we will do a session only on Italy because then you
[55:22]can look at all that I'd hate to answer it in one
[55:30]it is freedom if you look at your book we've actually put
[55:35]itel corsi look at page 287.
[55:42]and if you go on the website I think they've superimposed the
[55:46]rainbow is supposed to go on top but it's actually a rainbow
[55:49]that takes you through Idol Kursi um okay maybe you've got a
[55:58]different have you got 287 so I'll take you through the rainbow
[56:09]at some stage okay but we've got a whole session on the
[56:11]on the website for it I don't answer in one second so
[56:15]what I want to talk to you about now is journaling I'm
[56:17]gonna put this down so hopefully your Quran looks like this you
[56:27]see that that's what we want that's what you would have so
[56:32]each of the surahs let's go into one into them you would
[56:37]have the building okay you can print it you can cut it
[56:42]out and do whatever you want and then everything is highlighted can
[56:45]you see them yes it's annotated so when you go through and
[56:51]read your Quran everything we've talked about today will come through so
[56:56]for example let's forget this so if you had something like this
[57:06]and you put all the notes in that you hear and you
[57:07]will have my jealous here you will have various sessions here every
[57:11]time you have a modalis every single Zakir ozakira starts with an
[57:16]eye of Quran so if you highlight that Quran in your when
[57:20]you go back home you highlight it in your Quran and you
[57:24]take a Post-It note and you take the key concepts of what
[57:26]she or he talked about you can see I have tiny little
[57:30]bits everywhere what she or he talked about you've built up a
[57:32]library from different speakers and different Scholars and it's phenomenal and it's
[57:39]amazing what it can work too and it doesn't go to waste
[57:45]this is a normal Quran which is um Shakir just anywhere I
[57:51]actually prefer one without a translation because the translations are really a
[57:56]bit different but this is shock in essence we gave it to
[57:58]each of our students at Workshop it helps in the first instance
[58:03]to look at the English translation but I'm sure we can find
[58:06]some to bring for you if you're going to do some journaling
[58:09]as well is another one yeah they're all different ones yeah my
[58:21]only problem with something of that so it was as I get
[58:26]getting older the words are too small so I struggle so I
[58:28]need something with large writing so near my muscle I have something
[58:32]that's got massive writing which makes more sense okay but I'll bring
[58:35]them all for you to have a look are you good oh
[58:41]you do okay so the translation is really good with those so
[58:47]that helps can we end with this is [Music] [Music] thank you
[59:13]for listening foreign
