[22:44]to play basketball i loved basketball at that time not so much

[22:53]time for me so made sure to show up and that's what

[22:58]got me involved in the ‏youth group called the yma at that

[23:01]time yma used to go to or was going to retreats at

[23:06]that time first one went to california that was when i got

[23:09]to know a beautiful family um the alah family i got to

[23:14]know several of them i almost got into a fight with one

[23:16]of them um but that that got us closer and the second

[23:24]retreat was a tennessee retreat we we drove to um tennessee ‏the

[23:29]mountains we took a big bus with a bunch of youth not

[23:33]even knowing if this place was real because google wasn't exist at

[23:37]that time so we were stuck in the middle of a mountain

[23:41]with a bus at approximately 80 degrees not knowing if it's going

[23:44]to be able to go all the way up or not and

[23:47]we're all you know scared is this real is this really happening

[23:52]is this a dream and at that retreat or around that retreat

[23:56]there was a baking competition ‏oat meal rais cook baking competition andah

[24:04]was between me and another sister and i w that competition and

[24:10]now my wife several marriages happen out of the yma at that

[24:20]time a lot of those people are now our very closest ‏before

[24:35]and time was important for us to ening pr toing the chose

[25:01]heartbeat of the islamic cent at that time under the guidance of

[25:12]now that اح arrived i actually when we used to play basketball

[25:18]at the gym used to drive ahm back home when he was

[25:21]little kid it was great times at that time let's fast forward

[25:28]it was i really ‏want to medical school and when you go

[25:31]to medical school you have to it's known that you should volunteer

[25:36]and get hours and get a letter andam what better opportunity than

[25:40]all the hours that we spent at the yma putting up chairs

[25:43]setting up programs meeting getting to know many people this is a

[25:50]great opportunity for anyone to be able to boost up their resume

[25:54]so they can you know boost up their application 2006 i went

[25:57]to medical school ‏uh in at michigan state and my clerkships were

[26:04]at henry ford wind out hospital where i wanted to do my

[26:08]residency unfortunately i didn't or fortunately i didn't get my residency at

[26:12]henry ford wind i ended up getting it was botsford at that

[26:14]time before it became b farmington hills and now corell health farmington

[26:18]hills when i graduated my residency i did my went back to

[26:24]henry ford wi as an attending and then a couple years later

[26:27]back to botsford ‏a reason in 2015 we all know the situation

[26:40]changed and we had to find a different location and i call

[26:45]us the og the ogc of the yma had to come together

[26:52]and have many many many hours together to what can we doch

[26:57]that was ‏we all had a vested interest in making sure this

[27:03]continues it doesn't matter the location but we all know the love

[27:06]that we have for imam ح qaz so we wanted to continue

[27:11]with that so with that was created the myc muslim youth connection

[27:14]and we wanted that to be a relevant program as you can

[27:19]see here today that can cater to everyone in 2018 my life

[27:27]got flipped upside down ‏my son was diagnosed with leukemia and subhan

[27:35]even though i was a physician i had nothing no inform about

[27:40]leukemia we learned about it in med school never applied it it's

[27:44]not part of my life in emergency ald my background at least

[27:48]allowed me to grasp the concepts and understand them so that we

[27:56]can help navigate for through that diagnosis ‏what was more important was

[28:01]the support that we hadly we have the support of our family

[28:03]but our secondary family our big picture family our dearest brothers and

[28:08]sisters who are part of us the yma they really came to

[28:14]our side and made things so much easier they were tru part

[28:21]of our family we even created a whatsapp group a search on

[28:28]myapp group these are the ‏came up yma safe space yma reunion

[28:42]wife was supposed to go with me to but because of my

[28:44]son's diagnosis she had to stay behind but i got even closer

[28:50]to one of my dear brothers that i had met at the
