[0:00]foreign we've been trying to make sense of a truly remarkable statement
[0:13]in which Imam Salaam our eighth Imam describes his son the newly
[0:21]born Muhammad al-jawad as the newborn who has brought more blessings with
[0:32]his birth than anyone else throughout the history of Islam now we
[0:39]have postulated and presented a couple of different possibilities as to what
[0:47]this could potentially mean but I want to share something with you
[0:52]tonight that I believe is the strongest indication as to why Imam
[1:00]said this you see a child prodigy is defined in Psychology research
[1:07]literature as a person under the age of 10 who produces meaningful
[1:14]output in some domain at the level of an adult expert now
[1:18]every once in a while a child comes along with the ability
[1:23]to count to a hundred in multiple languages or when the spelling
[1:26]bee or is able to recite the figure pi to ten thousand
[1:30]decimal numbers and while all those are impressive Feats don't get me
[1:36]wrong none of them rise to the level of what constitutes a
[1:41]miracle they simply mean that these children were born with really good
[1:45]genes or brain chemistry and that's because with enough practice many people
[1:50]can do the same thing so a prodigy can be profoundly smart
[1:57]and Incredibly intelligent but to possess miraculous Powers is an entirely different
[2:03]thing Think Jesus speaking in the crib or John the Baptist attaining
[2:07]prophethood as a child then there is Imam al-jawad you see his
[2:15]ability and debating and silencing the greatest experts in their field isn't
[2:20]a matter relegated to genes or practice at the age of just
[2:26]eight or nine years old the Imam assumed the position of Imam
[2:29]and was immediately put to the challenge by envious and resentful adversaries
[2:34]like the Tyrant Moon who was the caliph of one of the
[2:40]largest Empires the world has ever seen now what this showed was
[2:46]that Imam al-jawad alaihissalam demonstrated his authority through his Superior knowledge and
[2:52]that the only way he could have conceivably attained that knowledge was
[2:58]through divine inspiration a famous example of this is a public spectacle
[3:03]staged by the caliph mahmoon in which he invited a foremost expert
[3:10]in theology as well as other fields and disciplines named was akin
[3:17]to a Nobel Laureate of his time now imagine someone like this
[3:25]is brought to challenge a nine-year-old who claims to be a vice
[3:32]gerund of God and that is Imam so I'll just give you
[3:43]one example of a very lengthy debate that took place between and
[3:48]Imam al-jawat but this example or maybe a couple I think clearly
[3:56]demonstrate the conclusion that we're trying to arrive at in the end
[4:02]so listen carefully foreign what do you say oh son of the
[4:15]messenger of Allah in the report that states that one day the
[4:26]Archangel descended upon the holy prophet and he said to him Allah
[4:34]bestows His blessings upon you and says this is a famous narration
[4:47]that we have heard from followers of the sakifa school essentially they
[4:56]say that descended upon the holy prophet and he said to him
[5:02]that God says I am pleased with Abu Bakr so ask Abu
[5:04]Bakr as he pleased with me so God is asking the prophet
[5:12]whether Abu Bakr is pleased with him because God already says I'm
[5:19]a pleased I'm pleased with Abu Bakr asks this nine-year-old or eight-year-old
[5:25]child and says to him what do you say about this report
[5:31]listen to how the Imam responded again this isn't about some child
[5:35]prodigy who's able to memorize a bunch of numbers or speak multiple
[5:39]languages this is deductive reasoning at its most spectacular the Imam says
[5:47]to him the Imam is commonly given the Konya abujafar alaihissalam said
[5:55]I am not denying the virtue of Abu Bakr now first of
[6:03]all the fact that Imam begins his response like this tells you
[6:10]so much you see this was a time when the Abbasid caliphate
[6:15]they try to reconcile unlike the Umayyads they tried to reconcile between
[6:20]love for the so-called companions as well as the and so imama
[6:29]Jawad here is under the spotlight there's a lot of pressure on
[6:32]him if he says anything negative about Abu Bakr then he's going
[6:40]to be accused of hating the companions of not showing due respect
[6:44]and all that sort of circus show which would ultimately be used
[6:51]as a justification to either kill the Imam or imprison the Imam
[6:54]so he begins by saying that I'm not denying the virtue of
[6:59]Abu Bakr in other words if he has any virtues I wouldn't
[7:02]deny them but I wouldn't affirm or confirm that he has any
[7:05]virtues to begin with so the Imam begins with that disclaimer again
[7:12]a child who has that incredible level of cognizance is just miraculous
[7:16]there's no other way to describe it he says I am not
[7:19]denying the virtue of Abu Bakr however what you need to do
[7:29]or anyone who reports this tradition you need to follow the instructions
[7:33]of the holy prophet and the holy prophet stated quite famously in
[7:39]the last farewell pilgrimage people have attributed many lies to me and
[7:48]there will be many more attributed to me in the future whoever
[7:54]a tribute to lie to me knowingly they should pick their seat
[8:02]in hell in other words they're destined to go to The Inferno
[8:05]if anyone attributes a light to the holy prophet then the holy
[8:09]prophet provides criteria as to how determine how to determine whether a
[8:13]report attributed to the prophet is false or true whether it's a
[8:20]lie or not Hadith so if you see a report attributed to
[8:28]me then you should present it to the Holy Quran see if
[8:30]it confirm conforms to the Holy Quran if it is not in
[8:37]contradiction with the Quran and established Sunnah of the holy prophet then
[8:40]you can accept it otherwise you should reject it now again this
[8:46]is deductive reasoning this is someone who has the utmost command on
[8:51]the Holy Quran as well as the tradition of the holy prophet
[8:56]and who can try and um extrapolate rulings from the Quran and
[9:04]the tradition of the holy prophet and let's not forget that he
[9:09]was only eight or nine years old again we're not talking about
[9:13]a prodigy here listen carefully to what the Imam does the Imam
[9:15]said to him so if we see a report it needs to
[9:21]be presented to hold the Quran to see if it conforms to
[9:26]the Quran and if so we accept it otherwise we throw it
[9:30]away so then the Imam cites a verse from the Holy Quran
[9:34]foreign Allah says that we have created the human and we know
[9:55]what his soul thinks inside of him to Westward we know his
[10:03]thoughts we know everything that happens inside of his soul and we
[10:10]are closer to him than his jugular vein in other words the
[10:17]Imam says that in this report you claim that God said I
[10:20]am pleased with Abu Bakr could you ask him if he's pleased
[10:24]with me in other words God doesn't know whether Abu Bakr is
[10:26]pleased with him or not whereas right here in the Quran Allah
[10:29]says we know everything that a person thinks inside of his soul
[10:36]in the deepest recesses of his soul we are aware of what
[10:39]happens because we are closer to him than his jugular vein and
[10:46]here this farcical comical Hadith claims that God doesn't know what Abu
[10:50]Bakr is thinking and so he has to ask the prophet to
[10:55]ask Abu Bakr it is nothing short of a joke Imam replies
[11:00]to this Hadith using the verse from the Holy Quran and the
[11:06]Imam has done this hundreds of times the Imam uses the Holy
[11:11]Quran to dispel misconceptions and to reject fallacies made by other groups
[11:17]and sects and Cults using none other than the Holy Quran again
[11:21]a child at the age of eight simply cannot possess this ability
[11:28]unless it's been endowed to him from Allah now I want to
[11:34]share another example with you which is nothing short of stunning foreign
[11:41]the following question he says to him may I be ransomed for
[11:49]you may my soul die for you what do you say in
[11:55]someone who is in the state of Iram and who kills an
[11:58]animal for the purpose of hunting hunts an animal and kills it
[12:04]now Vietnam had he acquired this knowledge by reading books or by
[12:13]studying under a tutor or by learning from his father or what
[12:16]have you if this knowledge was inherited using traditional means the Imam
[12:21]could have responded by saying that someone who's in the state of
[12:28]Haram is not allowed to uh to hunt or kill any animals
[12:30]or he is allowed to do so and you could have presented
[12:37]his evidence listen to what the Imam did to this poor and
[12:40]the other members of the audience the Imam said to him let
[12:44]me ask you a series of questions to clarify the concept that
[12:51]we're dealing with did he kill this animal did he hunt this
[12:57]animal in the area known as Haram or outside of it meaning
[13:03]within the vicinity of the Kaaba or outside while he he's in
[13:08]the state of we've already established that but what was the location
[13:12]of the hunting that occurred number two did he kill him was
[13:19]he aware of the impermissibility of hunting animals and killing them in
[13:27]the state of Haram or was he not aware was he ignorant
[13:29]of this rule did he kill this animal deliberately or inadvertently again
[13:38]every single one of these questions establishes a new criteria for the
[13:43]rule and changes the ruling then he says was this person in
[13:52]the state of was he a slave owned by someone or was
[13:58]he free was he a child because you can be in the
[14:00]state of Haram as a child was he a child or an
[14:06]adult was it the first time that he's hunted or not the
[14:09]first time was this hunted animal a bird or some other species
[14:20]of animals was it a small animal or a large animal was
[14:25]he insistent and unrepentant or was he remorseful for his action because
[14:31]sometimes you could be the the the the way to um redeem
[14:37]a sin is to Simply ask Allah for forgiveness but is this
[14:45]person uh remorseful or not remorseful was it in the night time
[14:50]or in the daytime was this state of for umrah or for
[14:59]Hajj the Imam kept asking more and more questions Each of which
[15:03]demonstrate that not only does he know the answer to the original
[15:10]original question but he is presenting new criteria new variables who was
[15:22]there to challenge Imam al-jawad suddenly looked flabbergasted he looked bewildered to
[15:29]this to the to the extent that it was clear on his
[15:34]face on his facial expression that his jaw dropped were the Hadith
[15:41]says that the people surrounding him could clearly see this state of
[15:46]bewilderment in the face of moon he's the caliph he's observing all
[15:53]of this he's hoping that Imam al-jawad is unable to respond to
[16:00]these questions because again he was Imam al-jawad's greatest adversary he killed
[16:06]his father and yet he took advantage of the imams incredible Triumph
[16:11]against his uh Challenger and took credit in fact for uh Imam
[16:23]al-jawad's superiority and he said alhamdulillah thank Allah and praise be to
[16:31]Allah for giving me this Divine backing for choosing correctly in other
[16:36]words choosing to be his son-in-law so he looked at the people
[16:47]who had told not to marry his daughter to Imam al-jawat he
[16:50]said you see you see how I was right and picking Imam
[16:55]al-jawad now let's go back to the response given by Imam in
[16:59]this particular challenge in responding to the question instead of the Imam
[17:05]simply giving him a yes or no answer which anybody could do
[17:08]he gave him 15 additional variables 50 new conditions were introduced to
[17:14]the equation which mathematically equates to 2 to the power of 15.
[17:21]which is 332 768 different scenarios with different rules my brothers and
[17:33]sisters said that this newborn brings about the greatest blessings of any
[17:44]newborn in the history of Islam what he was possibly referring to
[17:50]obviously there could be many many blessings that we are completely oblivious
[17:55]to that we don't even understand but one of the things that
[18:01]he could possibly have been referring to was the fact that with
[18:07]Imam assuming the Reigns of divine Authority and Imam all the people
[18:12]who had tried to portray the Arabic as Simply Good People righteous
[18:20]virtuous knowledgeable you know we have such individuals even today clowns who
[18:29]are trying to present the imams as good people but nothing more
[18:34]than that completely obliterated and eviscerated all of these so-called arguments because
[18:44]you can't just be a good virtuous moral individual with a little
[18:48]bit of knowledge because you've learned and you've tried hard and produced
[18:52]something as Imam al-jawad Ali Salam did Imam al-jawad proved and I've
[19:00]discussed this at length in a lecture uh in the in the
[19:05]debunking doubt series Imam al-jawad proved that the knowledge of Imam is
[19:10]inspired by Allah the position of Imam is one that is chosen
[19:21]and selected by God it is by Divine appointment that a person
[19:26]becomes Imam not because this person happens to be good or eloquent
[19:31]or any of those other additional criteria because a child cannot speak
[19:37]in such a manner and this was just two examples from the
[19:43]life of Imam in which he performed Miracles that could have no
[19:50]other explanation it was one particular individual he narrates the story himself
[19:55]he says I looked at this person and I said may Allah
[19:59]curse the Shia how could they believe in the Divine appointment of
[20:01]a child at the age of eight or nine or ten this
[20:05]doesn't make any sense and so then Imam al-jawad Ali salaam would
[20:09]walk up to this person he simply thought those things he didn't
[20:13]say them outright he thought them in his head Imam al-jad would
[20:16]walk up to him he would mention his name and he would
[20:22]say oh you son of such and such and then he would
[20:23]respond to this misconception that was in his head so multiple Miracles
[20:30]being performed right here and then the person would simply have his
[20:34]jaw dropped and walk away believing in the Divine appointment of Imam
[20:39]because there's no other explanation how could he possibly know my name
[20:43]how could he possibly even if you knew my name know what
[20:46]I was thinking and not only that but respond to the misconception
[20:50]using verses from the Holy Quran by citing the examples of Jesus
[20:54]and John the Baptist and others the point being here brothers and
[20:58]sisters Imam al-jawad was the greatest blessing because he elevated our understanding
[21:06]of Imam to new heights For the First Time The Shia began
[21:14]to appreciate who an Imam was and that an Imam was someone
[21:18]appointed by Allah and with knowledge inspired to him by God and
[21:25]none other may Allah bless us with the correct understanding of Imam
[21:32]may Allah give us the backing to acknowledge and submit and accept
[21:40]the Divine authority of his vice gerunds insha Allah
