[0:05][Music] [Music] [Music] s for [Music] [Music] yeah for [Music] [Music] [Music]
[2:21]for the hastening of the reappearance of the master the Savior the
[2:28]Avenger my dear brothers and sisters Islam is a religion of balance
[2:51]and what that means is that one has to do the right
[2:58]thing in accord ordance with the circumstances and the conditions that they
[3:09]are in take the body for example the immune system is a
[3:21]critical part of a healthy lifestyle a healthy body and it allows
[3:29]the individual to fight Contagion infections and all sorts of uh conditions
[3:37]that might arise within the human body if the immune system experiences
[3:50]a disorder that makes it fight the very same cells and organs
[3:59]that it is meant to protect that condition is called autoimmune disorder
[4:09]many diseases and ailments are attributed to autoimmune disorders and fall under
[4:20]this heading they include multiple sclerosis a debilitating condition they include things
[4:33]like asthma eczema lupus among many other problems this example illustrates the
[4:39]fact that the immune system is designed to fight off specific threats
[4:50]if it fails to do that and instead fights the human body
[4:58]you end up with these terrible Health complications in the verse that
[5:07]I recited Allah subhah wa ta'ala issues a stark warning to those
[5:12]who abandon their faith Allah subhana wa taala says and the verses
[5:18]inah he says oh you who believe if you abandon your faith
[5:26]if you become apostates then Allah subh will replace you with people
[5:36]that he loves and they love him that's the first attribute of
[5:46]these individuals they love Allah and Allah loves them number two they
[5:51]are humble towards the Believers and firm towards the disbelievers then Allah
[6:01]subhana wa tala says that they fight and struggle in the way
[6:06]of God and they do not fear anyone's blame in other words
[6:13]they don't care about what others think they will do the right
[6:18]thing no matter what then he says and this is part of
[6:31]the mercy and blessing of Allah subhanahu wa taala to allow individuals
[6:37]to possess these [Music] qualities we said that the First Quality was
[6:43]that they love Allah and Allah loves them and that's not the
[6:48]subject of our discussion the second attribute is what we would like
[6:53]to discuss tonight in reference to imass may God's peace and blessings
[7:01]be upon him Allah says again this balance has to be maintained
[7:10]just like the example the illustration that I provided earlier about autoimmune
[7:17]disorders a person has to identify friends and distinguish them from enemies
[7:27]and to treat friends with humility to Humble oneself towards the Believers
[7:38]those are the ones that we're supposed to take as friends a
[7:47]Believer is automatically branded as a friend once a person enters the
[7:56]scope of Believers and of course there are many descriptions for what
[8:01]a Believer is but at the most fundamental and basic level a
[8:04]Believer is one who submits to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and takes
[8:12]the holy prophet and his appointed Vice Jaren as his ultimate Authority
[8:18]if a person enters this realm this fold this circle they become
[8:25]Believers as soon as they become believers they automatically acquire inalienable rights
[8:32]one of those rights is that they must be treated with kindness
[8:37]respect and humility the word stems from the root term which means
[8:47]humiliation but in a positive sense meaning that you have to humble
[8:52]yourself to the maximum possible extent towards the Believers now in order
[9:03]to maintain balance the formula has to be completed and the formula
[9:08]as we stated is that you humble yourself before the Believers and
[9:12]you take a Firm Stance against the disbelievers the reason I said
[9:21]this is that IM alassan may God's peace and everlasting blessings be
[9:26]upon him was subjected to the most brutal and vicious character assassination
[9:35]by his enemies both the umaya dynasty as well as the abbasids
[9:41]try to tarnish the reputation of IM alassan Al and so they
[9:51]manufactured on mass fabricated reports about the imam's character and they shine
[9:59]a very negative light on the personality of IM alassan for instance
[10:06]they created this false persona for the Imam that portrayed him as
[10:18]a overindulgent and hedonistic character someone who was lustful God forbid someone
[10:29]who's a pleasure Seeker someone who sought wealth and fame and wasn't
[10:39]too concerned about the Affairs of the nation and as I said
[10:49]they manufactured these reports on mass on a large scale imagine the
[10:54]propaganda machine of the umiads was so powerful that the son of
[11:05]M comes to IM and he says to him tell me was
[11:14]my father a good man or an evil man imagine his own
[11:19]son can't make that distinction the propaganda the false reports the fake
[11:27]news was so so Savage so contradictory that his own son couldn't
[11:36]draw an accurate picture of his father he couldn't come to a
[11:42]satisfactory conclusion so he had to ask the Imam obviously the other
[11:48]reason is that he considers the Imam to be the ultimate Arbiter
[11:52]he knows that the imam's verdict is the final word whatever the
[12:00]Imam says which tells you how submissive to the imam's authority this
[12:06]man was of course you might have heard that the Imam responded
[12:10]to him by saying that may Allah bestow his mercy upon your
[12:13]father and it's this Hadith which puts an end to all the
[12:21]discrepancies all the disputes on the character and ultimate Abode of in
[12:27]other words there might have been a or blemishes in his past
[12:34]but this Hadith sets the record straight but this is how vicious
[12:40]the propaganda was Imam alassan is portrayed as a hedonistic pleasure seeking
[12:47]overindulgent person who was interested only in money status and carnal desires
[12:56]God forbid equally vicious was the portrayal of im as a subservient
[13:11]and meek individual and it's this aspect or this false portrayal of
[13:19]the Imam which was perhaps more persistent in other words some of
[13:28]his own Shia perceived IM alassan to be like this he's Meek
[13:37]he's submissive he is someone who could be easily cowed and pushed
[13:44]aside he's a pushover as they say in this culture to the
[13:51]extent that albari and others they have reported this Hadith which is
[14:00]attributed to and the holy prophet is reported to have said the
[14:08]following my sonan is a master so far so good he's a
[14:16]master meaning that he should be followed he should be obeyed he
[14:23]should be given his due position and status but listen to what
[14:28]the prophet is quoted to have said afterwards and perhaps there's going
[14:43]to be a day when Allah uses him in order to reconcile
[14:48]between two Waring factions within the Muslim nation in other words IM
[15:00]Hassan should should be obeyed alassan should be respected but not because
[15:08]he is ascribed to me not because of his divinely given status
[15:13]but because he's going to submit to the rule of mua you
[15:21]see what a travesty of Justice this is listen to Im alassan
[15:29]so long as he reconciles between the Believers and of course this
[15:37]is a reference to the treaty or the truce that was signed
[15:41]between IM alassan and mua later on in other words if he
[15:47]gives into muaah and moves aside so that muawiya and the omaya
[15:51]dynasty could take over the leadership of the Muslim um then he
[15:55]is someone worthy of respect and honor now we know this Hadith
[16:02]is a fabrication quite simply and easily because it was himself who
[16:12]said in authentic reports that are scattered across the Sunni Corpus when
[16:19]the prophet addresses and says to him the rebellious faction the tyrannical
[16:33]Army is the one that's going to kill you if a faction
[16:41]is called tyrannical in Arabic refers to the worst form of tyranny
[16:47]it's a synonym oful and refer to the Quran to know what
[16:52]means what b means if muaah and his group are labeled as
[17:01]bat and tyrannical and rebellious how could the prophet then say my
[17:07]son Hassan is a good man so long as he reconciles between
[17:13]muaah and his own Camp it makes absolutely no sense so this
[17:20]portrayal this image of Imam alassan as this subservient Meek pushover was
[17:26]one of the greatest crimes committed against imass again creating an image
[17:36]that if not transfixed in the minds of every Muslim including the
[17:40]Shia at the very least it left traces in our Collective Minds
[17:49]IM Hassan someone who's not interested in fighting not interested in being
[17:55]confrontational he's a peaceful man he's a pacifist this is one of
[18:03]the greatest crimes committed against IM alassan how could Imam alassan be
[18:10]like this when he himself was approached by a man who tragically
[18:14]was one of his Shia one of his followers towards the end
[18:19]of his blessed life the report says that this man came to
[18:23]the Imam and he said to him you have humiliated the Believers
[18:36]and you have turned us into slaves of B IM alassan said
[18:41]how he said when you submitted meaning this Tyrant this despot you
[18:50]submitt it to him and you you humiliated us so listen to
[18:57]how the Imam responded to him he said by God I would
[19:09]never have signed this treaty with muaah had I had enough supporters
[19:15]had I had fighters who were loyal to me and had I
[19:29]had individuals who were loyal to me who would listen to me
[19:35]and follow my lead I would have continued to fight him day
[19:38]and night until Allah subhanahu waala settles it between us in other
[19:48]words he grants Victory to the righteous and defeat to the immoral
[19:55]and impious then again it tells you the severity of the tragedy
[20:01]the report says just as he was speaking to this man blood
[20:10]started gushing out of his mouth and there were chunks of his
[20:16]liver that the Imam spewed out of his mouth this is when
[20:23]he's having this conversation with this man and then the Imam told
[20:27]him he said look at what he has done to me this
[20:34]is only because I lacked supporters and companions how could Imam alassan
[20:43]be portrayed as Meek and subservient when he was only seven or
[20:48]eight years old and again this is mentioned in numerous Sunni books
[20:53]and collections of Hadith that the Imam as a child walks into
[20:58]the m into the mosque of he saw Abu Bakr sitting on
[21:07]the pulpit the IM ascended the pulpit other words he stepped on
[21:10]the member itself and he pointed to Abu Bakr and said to
[21:14]him en get off of the pulpit of my father in other
[21:20]words you have no Authority who are you to be sitting on
[21:26]this Pulpit this Pulpit belongs to my father meaning the caliphate belongs
[21:29]to to my father he is the legitimate Heir tool he's the
[21:34]appointed successor to the holy prophet appointed by God himself and so
[21:40]these same Sunni reports which are authentic by the way and they've
[21:44]been reported by the likes of among others that Abu Bakr being
[21:54]humiliated by this child had it been he would have had him
[22:00]killed had it been any one of the companions of the IM
[22:02]he would have had them killed this is at a time when
[22:06]he had an army which launched a crusade across the Muslim nation
[22:10]in order to quell any form of dissent but since it's a
[22:15]child and since it is IM about whom had said if there
[22:24]is anything beautiful in this world it is Imam Hassan he is
[22:29]is the flower that this D has given me Abu Bakr couldn't
[22:40]do anything to IM Hassan and so then he says to the
[22:47]Imam he says to him the IM initially told him go and
[22:53]sit on your father's Pulpit this is my father's so Abu Bakr
[22:58]said to him you're right this is your father's Pulpit this is
[23:05]his position my father didn't have any status or position Abu was
[23:11]alive and was opposed to his son according to uh multiple reports
[23:16]so how could a person like that who as a child challenges
[23:23]the self-appointed kff in this public fashion and says these words to
[23:29]him end up being the meek and submissive individual that they try
[23:38]to portray him as it makes absolutely no sense so this is
[23:44]imass when it comes to the tyrants he showed no weakness whatsoever
[23:53]when it comes to the leaders of hypocrisy Imam exhibited absolutely no
[24:03]meekness when it comes to the worst of the worst like mu
[24:10]imass stance was crystal clear but the other side of the equation
[24:19]is what I want to talk about tonight a little bit because
[24:24]we want to draw a lesson from the life and example of
[24:27]imass before I get into that one critical point that I want
[24:38]you to think about is this if this equation of being humble
[24:42]towards the Believers and firm towards the disbelievers if it's Disturbed in
[24:50]any way if any side of the equation is Disturbed The Other
[24:53]Side more often than not is also Disturbed Meaning that if an
[25:00]individual exhibits humility towards the disbelievers they often exhibit firmness and aggression
[25:11]towards Believers it goes hand in hand and the other way around
[25:18]if someone exhibits any aggression towards Believers you'll often find them exhibiting
[25:24]humility towards the disbelievers often times times we see people who Advocate
[25:34]the idea of unconditional love towards everyone and there are plenty of
[25:41]people like that unconditional the disbelievers followers of other religious denominations individuals
[25:52]with whom we have deep ideological differences you'll find them showing humility
[26:05]towards them and although you'd expect them to be consistent in their
[26:12]approach if you're all about love for all hatred for none if
[26:16]you're all about embracing the other especially the disbelievers you'd expect these
[26:23]people to be consistent and also be humble towards the believer but
[26:32]no when the balance is tipped in favor of one side it's
[26:36]tipped against the other side and so you'll find these individuals again
[26:41]there are many examples I don't want to give them any publicity
[26:44]I don't want to cite actual names of individuals or groups but
[26:52]again this is uh if you like a a law that I'd
[26:53]like you to keep in your mind when analyzing individuals you'll find
[27:01]them being overly accommodating towards the disbelievers but as soon as it
[27:08]gets to the believer's side you'll see them being really aggressive really
[27:13]aggressive so imass wasn't like that he applied this quranic principle in
[27:22]the most beautiful way again as I said when it comes to
[27:26]the disbelievers the Imam stance was very firm as for the Believers
[27:33]which I'll get to later on that's a whole other story but
[27:38]there was a group of people almost in the middle although they
[27:44]were closer to the disbelieving side that Iman treated with such decorum
[27:55]with such manners that was baffling to everyone you've all heard that
[28:06]IM Hussein treated with such incredible and breathtaking kindness that turned Al
[28:17]from an enemy to an intimate friend to someone who sacrificed himself
[28:25]for IM Hussein how did the IM do this the IM did
[28:29]it by showing him generosity showing him kindness when he came along
[28:37]with a thousand men who were all parched and thirsty IM hussein.
[28:42]ordered his companions and his family members to give them the most
[28:49]precious thing in the desert which is water the Imam said these
[28:55]men are thirsty knowing what their mission was knowing what their mandate
[28:59]was being fully aware of the fact that they would be fighting
[29:06]with IM Hussein killing his companions and his family members and even
[29:12]a six-month-old infant IM Hussein said give them water not only that
[29:16]he then said feed their horses knowing that it would it would
[29:26]be these horses who will trample over his blessed body Imam Hussein
[29:30]did this and in return he was able to save that one
[29:36]soul and so if you are told that IM alassan spent 10
[29:43]years 20 years 30 years of his life in order to save
[29:48]one Soul you shouldn't be surprised because that's their mission in this
[29:53]life it's to try and save as many people as possible and
[29:56]if it's only one person and IM Al Hassan had to pay
[30:01]the highest price to save that individual the Imam would deem that
[30:05]to be worthy and appropriate it's an appropriate price again people who
[30:13]were not in the friends Camp you've heard the example of this
[30:18]man from sham who came to IM Hassam and he addressed the
[30:26]Imam in the most vulgar way it's a famous story there is
[30:33]another incident which is similar to that but different in a few
[30:38]key places and that tells you that this incident occurred on multiple
[30:43]occasions it wasn't just once again as I said the propaganda machine
[30:48]of the umad rule was incredibly powerful and so it wasn't just
[30:55]one or two or 10 or a thousand people who tried to
[31:00]insult IM alassan but look at how the IM responds the man
[31:05]says that he's the one who reports the story he says that
[31:10]I came to Medina suddenly I saw an individual being surrounded by
[31:16]a lot of people in other words it was rather unusual everyone
[31:21]flocking to this person that I didn't recognize he says I asked
[31:29]who is this person Subhan Allah traditions and reports state by the
[31:38]way that whenever Iman came out of his door there would be
[31:41]such a crowd that they would cause congestion in the Alleyways they
[31:48]would all just come and gaze at the Majestic Beauty of Imam
[31:52]alassan just the light that he exuded from his blessed face let
[31:59]alone those who came to IM alassan to ask him for favors
[32:01]to ask him for help and so on so he says that
[32:06]I noticed Iman was surrounded by all of these [Music] people I
[32:15]suddenly became envious of Al for having a son like this he
[32:22]says it openly I became jealous so I went up to him
[32:27]and I said to him are you the son of abuali the
[32:36]Imam said no I am the son of the son of Abu
[32:40]Talib that's my father you're talking about he says I began cursing
[32:49]him hurling the most vulgar profanities towards him and his father as
[33:00]I was cursing him now imagine you have a father like it's
[33:08]one thing to be insulted yourself but to hear your father being
[33:11]insulted the Imam didn't even interrupt him he didn't say a word
[33:20]this man says when I was done imagine he continued to insult
[33:27]the Imam until he ran out of in SS he says when
[33:31]I was done he smiled and looked at me I mean the
[33:38]self-control is just mindboggling how the Imam is able to contain his
[33:48]anger is out of this world he smiled and he looked at
[33:56]me and he said to me seem to be uh a stranger
[34:02]you're from out of town I've never seen you here before then
[34:04]he said to him what he said to that other man he
[34:08]said if you have any needs tell me and we will fulfill
[34:13]them if you're looking for a place to rest we have a
[34:17]place where you can rest if you require any financial assistance think
[34:31]about this means we will give you so much until you become
[34:36]self-sufficient you'll become rich the Imam said all of this as if
[34:44]he had met an old friend imagine you see someone that you
[34:47]absolutely love and admire and you haven't seen him in a long
[34:49]time this is how you address him not someone who just went
[34:56]on a tirade of cursing you and your father the man says
[35:01]I suddenly felt the sense of Shame immediately I suddenly felt this
[35:18]incredible Affinity towards him this love towards imass and later on every
[35:32]time I remembered this incident I felt such shame and humiliation how
[35:36]could I have done this this is how they treat enemies who
[35:43]were ignorant again not the kuf not the heads of hypocrisy and
[35:53]disbelief people who are in the enemy camp but but they're only
[35:59]there because they happen to be ignorant and the Imam is trying
[36:02]to save them he's not trying to settle scores the whole point
[36:08]is that is that if this person has any potential or capacity
[36:12]to be saved IM would go out of his way to do
[36:18]so this is one example the other example is Maran himself again
[36:26]you might have heard this before when im passed from this world
[36:34]his brothers took him out and they held a funeral for himass
[36:45]Maran who was a sworn enemy of IM alassan who was an
[36:54]individual who spearheaded the profanities against Amir he himself would curse the
[37:02]Imam day in and day out this man came and he helped
[37:05]carry the casket of IM H so IM Hussein looked at him
[37:11]he said to him you're carrying his casket now and up until
[37:21]yesterday you would insult him and hurt him and cause him grieve
[37:35][Music] yes I used to do that to a man whose forbearance
[37:42]and patience and mercy and kindness outweighed the mountains this is the
[37:52]testimony of an enemy of IM so he's not exaggerating this is
[38:02]something that he's witnessed himself parenthetically I'll mention this IM alassan had
[38:10]a name that was given to him by God himself you've heard
[38:15]the story of his birth when came to see his grandson and
[38:24]he asked Amir did you name him the Imam said that I
[38:29]would never have preceded you I waited for you to come so
[38:32]that you would name him so the holy prophet said that I
[38:37]would never preed Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala I will wait for God
[38:40]to give me instructions as to what name we should award this
[38:46]first grandson of mine and that's when jbra came and said you
[38:50]should name him shabir arabized into Hassan so that was the name
[39:00]of IM alassan the Imam had other names that were awarded to
[39:04]him by his father his mother titles nicknames and whatnot Kim which
[39:09]translates to generous is not one of the names awarded by the
[39:15]holy prophet or the family of Imam alassan even though IM alassan
[39:19]is known worldwide to everyone who knows Imam alassan he knows him
[39:24]as Karim the generous one why because even though this name wasn't
[39:28]awarded to the Imam by or his parents this name was W
[39:37]the the attribute of generosity was witnessed and experienced by so many
[39:43]that it became trending you know on social media sometimes you have
[39:47]trending topics trending headlines the generous was a trending headline that described
[39:57]IM Al Hassam because so many people experienced it so many people
[40:01]witnessed it they saw it with their own two eyes so another
[40:10]incident involving they say and I'll summarize this they say that IM
[40:21]alassan had a mule Maran was a very very rich man you
[40:27]could describe him as being filthy rich in today's um monetary value
[40:32]he would have been worth tens perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars
[40:37]so he was very rich and yet despite his wealth he had
[40:44]his eye on the mule of IM alassan which tells you that
[40:46]this mule was valuable it was special you know how today you've
[40:54]got different car brands and even within the same brand you have
[40:57]cars that are better and more expensive and more luxurious than others
[41:02]right you have the cclass in the mercedesbenz group and then you
[41:08]have the Maybach this mule was considered a very beautiful very uh
[41:17]useful very uh it was it was a very uh expensive kind
[41:23]of animal to have so Maran had his eye on it so
[41:26]what he does is he orchestrates this scenario where one of his
[41:32]friends uh is tasked with taking the mule from IM and without
[41:40]getting into the details Maran said to him that if you do
[41:46]me this one favor I will do 30 favors for you 30
[41:48]so this man goes and he asks IM Hassan in a particular
[41:55]way to give him the mule the Imam iMed immediately got off
[41:58]the mule he gave it to that man then he said to
[42:03]him if Maran himself had asked me I would have given it
[42:08]to him too other words I know he wanted it and if
[42:09]he'd asked me even though Maran is Maran I would have given
[42:16]him the mule he treats his enemies like this so that maybe
[42:23]maybe they turn around and they change their ways and they embrac
[42:30]the path of righteousness as opposed to the vile nature that they
[42:34]possessed this is imass now I want to mention um something that
[42:43]I think as Believers and as followers of im alassan as lovers
[42:48]at the very least of imass we can learn from there's a
[42:52]beautiful narration by the holy prophet Muhammad Sall alai in which the
[43:06]holy prophet says do you wish for me to tell you about
[43:17]the most noble virtues in this world as well as the next
[43:22]imagine what is the most noble virtue explains he says if we
[43:43]are followers of IM alassan or if we aim to follow in
[43:49]his footsteps this is one thing we could learn from him too
[43:53]often we find people within the fraternity of Believers within the community
[44:01]of those who associate themselves with imass where tiny disagreements devolve into
[44:17]major schisms and fights erupt and hatred festers in the heart of
[44:24]Believers against one another and one of the excuses that we commonly
[44:29]hear is that he treats me like this I'm going to reciprocate
[44:33]he said this about me I will say that about him he
[44:39]mistreated me and I'll mistreat him whereas teaches us in this Hadith
[44:47]and Iman illustrates this in his conduct and if someone is kind
[44:56]to you it's nothing to brag about when you reciprocate the kindness
[45:01]what's so special about that if someone invites you he's already done
[45:06]you a favor he's taken the prerogative for you to go and
[45:08]invite him is simply returning the favor the holy prophet says when
[45:17]someone severs relations with you that is when you're supposed to establish
[45:22]relations with them when someone refuses to say Salam to you that's
[45:25]when you go out of your way to say Salam to them
[45:30]when a family member decides to cut you off that is when
[45:35]you reestablish and rekindle the relationship with that person when someone deprives
[45:42]you that is when you give them and offer them from your
[45:46]money your possessions the things that you have again this is something
[45:51]that imass led by example in the most noble most pristine most
[45:59]Exquisite and most beautiful of matters now imagine if im alassan treated
[46:08]his enemies like that how would he treat his friends in one
[46:18]report it says that a person came to IM Hassan and he
[46:25]recited poetry praising the Imam not praising him him as an individual
[46:32]but praising his position praising the status of IM praising the fact
[46:36]that he came from the family of rasool so he came to
[46:41]the Imam he said to him I have a few verses of
[46:46]poetry that I'd like to read and it's about you the Imam
[46:49]said stop he asked the servant he said how much money do
[46:56]we have left he said we have three p couches three bags
[46:59]of money of gold or silver the Imam said bring them all
[47:03]he took them he gave it to the man the man said
[47:08]I haven't even read my poetry the IM said no no no
[47:11]no once you read your poetry I won't have enough money to
[47:17]offer you by the mere virtue of you expressing your desire to
[47:23]come to us and to speak those verses to recite those verses
[47:32]of poetry about the grandson of I'm giving you all I have
[47:35]once you start reciting I won't be able to compensate you sufficiently
[47:41]this is IM one report again which I found in Sunni sources
[47:48]says that one day imass uh saw this slave and the slave
[47:58]had a loaf of bread so the Imam began observing him by
[48:03]the way this report there's a similar one that's attributed to IM
[48:08]Hussein but again there are some minor differences which tell you that
[48:12]this happened on more than one occasion this is the household of
[48:20]generosity this is the household that exhibited the most noble virtue of
[48:28]the Divine and so it is absolutely not uh surprising that they
[48:36]would do this over and over and over again so the Imam
[48:39]saw this slave he took that loaf of bread and he there
[48:43]was a dog sitting in front of him he took the loaf
[48:48]of bread he broke it in half he gave one half to
[48:52]the dog and he ate the other half IM alassan went to
[48:58]him he said to him what is this I just saw you
[49:01]do why would you give half of your food and these were
[49:06]slaves right they didn't have you know food whenever they desired all
[49:13]he had was this loaf he said why did you do this
[49:18]he said as I was about to start eating I saw my
[49:22]eyes met the eyes of the dog and I thought to myself
[49:29]I'm a creation of God and so is this dog I'm hungry
[49:32]so is this dog so I felt ashamed of eating and not
[49:39]offering half of my portion half of my food to this St
[49:45]to this dog Imam said to him whose slave are you he
[49:49]said I am the slave of Aban a man theom said to
[49:55]him wait right here don't go anywhere he said yeah I work
[49:59]here I'm not going to go anywhere so the IM went and
[50:03]came back he said to him I have just purchased you in
[50:11]other words I have freed You by buying you from your master
[50:15]also I bought this farm that you're looking after and I'm gifting
[50:23]it to you now on a night like this at a time
[50:33]when we're commemorating the martyrdom of imass and speaking about his virtues
[50:38]and his merits and talking about how the IM used to do
[50:43]this just like all the other imams they would purchase these slaves
[50:49]and Grant them their freedom more often than not against their will
[50:53]meaning he granted them their freedom even even though they didn't want
[50:57]to leave they wanted to stay with the imams I say muhamad
[51:08]yeah how about you also purchase us purchase us from our slave
[51:17]masters from our desires from our Temptations bring us closer to you
[51:22]this is how IM Al Hassan would treat his friends and I
[51:29]believe that the Imam freed the slave instead of taking him and
[51:35]teaching him and so forth as he did with many other slaves
[51:38]because that man was already at a point of nosis and understanding
[51:44]that he probably could uh be freed and be allowed to flourish
[51:51]on his own the fact that he said I was ashamed of
[51:55]a dog because he's the creation of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala a
[52:01]man says that I went to Hajj while I was in the
[52:07]vicinity of the Kaa I saw two young women two girls they
[52:14]were sitting next to each other and they were they were speaking
[52:19]to one another and so one was saying to the other she
[52:40]swore in the name of but did so while listing the virtues
[52:45]of the im.
[52:47]she said I didn't do such and such but she praised and
[52:52]swore in his name so the man says that I went up
[52:57]to these two girls and I said to them again this is
[53:02]at a time of incredible oppression persecution suppression people couldn't speak of
[53:10]the virtues of Al and yet these two young women were saying
[53:13]these things do you know who is that woman looked at this
[53:17]man and said to him [Music] s how could I not know
[53:31]him we come up from from a we come from a family
[53:35]of devotees to my father and my uncle and my cousins were
[53:39]killed in battle defending the Imam and his mission so the man
[53:46]says that I felt so proud of them that I put my
[53:51]hand in my pocket I had a gold coin I took it
[53:51]out and I said here's a gift from me to you the
[53:55]woman threw the money back at me and she said to me
[54:01]do you take the lovers of as Beggars we don't need your
[54:20]money we are we are under the guardianship of the most noble
[54:31]successor to the most noble predecessor we are under the care and
[54:40]protection and guardianship of IM alass we don't need your money you
[54:44]can keep that that's what Imam alassan did IM alassan would make
[54:50]his followers and his devotees and his partisans self-sufficient not financially per
[55:00]se but self-sufficient in terms of Pride being followers of IM were
[55:04]one of his people were one of his followers Subhan Allah this
[55:13]is how Imam alassan acted and yet he was always confronted with
[55:20]enmity with hatred you've heard that Imam Al Hassan perhaps you've heard
[55:27]this that Imam Hassan gave everything that he possessed his entire net
[55:34]worth He gave it in the way of Allah subhanahu wa taala
[55:38]three [Music] times includ and there were two occasions in which Hassan
[55:49]haved his net worth everything that he had he haved it and
[55:53]gave it in the way of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala my question
[55:59]is who did the Imam give all of that to the city
[56:04]of Medina was not comprised of the sh of IM the vast
[56:12]overwhelming majority of the inhabitants of the city were opposed to the
[56:17]they were opposed to IM who was the son-in-law of IM Al
[56:24]Hassan remember IM 's daughter was married to IM IM he after
[56:38]the tragedy of carala he said that only 20 households in Medina
[56:43]are Shia 20 out of an entire city so when im alassan
[56:51]was giving charity which can't really be called charity when you're giving
[56:56]everything that you have but when he was providing assistance to people
[56:59]when he was giving people the things that they asked he wasn't
[57:06]giving it to his friends was giving it either to random strangers
[57:10]or people who opposed him people who hated him but Subhan Allah
[57:19]the Hadith says that uh a a generous person will attract the
[57:28]love of those who hate him generosity has this power and if
[57:35]we are going to display a beautiful image of Islam in non-muslim
[57:40]countries it has to be done first and foremost through our conduct
[57:45]and and secondly through our generosity the centers that provide food to
[57:53]non-muslims free food inest Western culture there's no such thing as free
[57:58]food there's no such thing as free anything right so when you
[58:05]find a center or you find a group or you find a
[58:09]youth committee that provides food during the months of muharam and saf
[58:15]to non-muslims this is a very Rapid Way of attracting the love
[58:18]and respect of people who would otherwise never even think about Islam
[58:22]or getting close to a Muslim or even talking to a Muslim
[58:26]so the Hadith says that generosity is something that attracts the love
[58:35]of your enemies and miserliness and stinginess makes your own children despise
[58:40]you your own children and I I know of people young men
[58:47]and women who hate their father because he's stingy generosity of imass
[58:54]is an example for us to follow and yet he was confronted
[59:05]with hatred he was confronted with enmity and he was treated in
[59:08]the worst possible way to the extent that his own companions one
[59:14]of them he came a poison dagger was used to stabed the
[59:27]IM in his thigh it got to a point where Imam had
[59:35]no one with the exception of course of his brothers but no
[59:42]one stayed with him his own cousin left the IM committed high
[59:48]treason and he took along thousands of the fighters who were in
[59:54]the army of IM Hassan that he was command Landing he went
[59:57]and took all of them and switched sides to muas had lost
[60:03]two of his children at the hand of muaah at the treacherous
[60:10]and venomous schemes of muaah and yet he abandoned IM alassan and
[60:14]went to the other side it got to a point where Imam
[60:16]Al Hassan would be sitting on the front porch of his house
[60:26]may Allah bless his soul used to say that when I read
[60:36]this report I burst into tears and I cried and cried and
[60:40]cried for hours he said the reason is why would Imam Hassan
[60:45]have to sit on his front porch the only explanation was that
[60:51]outside of the home the Imam had nothing but enemies and inside
[60:59]his house the closest person to him his own wife was also
[61:03]an enemy this woman who ended up poisoning IM Hassan on a
[61:17]hot day when the Imam was fasting the Imam came home to
[61:29]break his fast he asked her for something food or and she
[61:35]came and offered him she gave him milk that was poisoned with
[61:40]a substance that was sent by muaah and was sent to muaah
[61:48]by the Roman cohorts that he had asked for something that would
[61:53]kill the Imam without any hesitation instantaneously and so as soon as
[62:03]the Imam drank the poisonous milk the Imam began coughing up blood
[62:09]Imam Hussein was summoned IM Hassan himself said I want my brother
[62:16]to come Imam Hussein came as soon as he saw his brother
[62:23]he burst into tears Hussein cried then he noticed IM Hassan was
[62:32]also crying he said to himed so IM alassan said that I'm
[62:39]worried for two things I'm sad I'm grieving for two things the
[62:48]first is it is the fact that I don't know which of
[62:51]my actions Allah will accept which of them he won't accept Subhan
[62:54]Allah people people like me do something tiny and then have so
[63:02]many expectations from Allah subhah wa ta'ala oh I gave this charity
[63:05]oh I went to Zar oh I went to ha or what
[63:09]have you and this is IM Hassan who says that I'm afraid
[63:15]and I'm grieving I don't know what's about to come that's the
[63:19]first reason the second reason is because I'm about to depart and
[63:27]I will be separated from Hussein I'll be separated from Abbas I'll
[63:34]be separated from my sister my son is about to go and
[63:42]so the IM then said todah Hussein he said to him brother
[63:46]be a father to my children allahar treat them with kindness and
[63:53]love they will grow up as orphans I want you to look
[63:58]after them and so IM Hussein cried and it's at that moment
[64:06]that imass said to him don't cry my brother don't cry because
[64:24]as tragic as the martyrdom of IM Hassan was the holy prophet
[64:34]said it was an incredible tragedy and yet IM Hassan says to
[64:38]his brother he says but there is no day like your day
[64:43]when 30,000 people will surround you and shed your blood with the
[64:53]intention of pleasing Allah subhanahu waala allahar Imam Al Hassan departed from
[64:59]this world he had left instructions for his brother Imam Hussein came
[65:05]he bathed him he shrouded him he then took him Ben Hashim
[65:10]surrounded Imam Hassan they went and held a funeral for their brother
[65:21]and that's when the Wicked Woman came when she realized that IM
[65:26]Al Hassan had left instructions to be buried next to his grandfather
[65:30]she came out and said I will never let him be buried
[65:39]in my home meaning the home of how did it become your
[65:43]home I don't know I will never let him be buried there
[65:46]and so she then ordered the body of Muhammad Hassan to be
[65:54]showered with arrows they shot the arrows in the direction of the
[65:59]casket the funeral IM Al Hassan had told his brother that I
[66:05]don't want any blood to be shed over my burial and if
[66:09]this happens which he knew would happen I want for you to
[66:16]go and bury me in the Bak Cemetery IM Hussein took his
[66:20]brother he went to the Bak Cemetery he dug the grave with
[66:25]his own hands he looked lowered his brother IM alassan into the
[66:29]grave then they suddenly noticed the shoulders of IM Hussein shaking as
[66:34]he was crying over his brother the Imam Was Heard saying the
[67:15]plundered one isn't the one who has had his wealth taken his
[67:25]money stolen the one who is plundered is the one who has
[67:29]just buried his entire being his heart in the ground the one
[67:37]who has lost a brother like [Music] IM now I wish to
[67:54]address IM and say your tragedy is truly heartre it is painful
[68:08]butam you were B you were shrouded you had your family come
[68:17]to your funeral your brother buried you with honor and Grace I
[68:28]wish you were there on the day of and the 13th of
[68:35]to witness your brother an Arab poet says don't say that Hussein
[68:48]wasn't bath he was indeed bathed but in a different way instead
[69:01]of being bathed with water he was bathed with the blood gushing
[69:07]out of his jugular vein don't tell me that Hussein wasn't shrouded
[69:17]don't tell me that he wasn't turned around during the bathing during
[69:24]the he was indeed turned around by the hoves of the horses
[69:32]don't tell me that he wasn't shrouded he was shrouded by all
[69:42]the blades and the swords and the spears he adds one more
[69:47]verse he says don't tell me that Hussein didn't have a funeral
[69:55]then how would you explain his head being raised on a spike
[70:03]and paraded through the desert from town to town and City to
[70:12]City
