[14:58]Muhammad muham muhamad throughout history there has always been a struggle between
[15:42]two categories between two groups there is one group that seeks to
[15:51]abuse and use people and you and use people and then there's
[16:04]another group that seeks to empower people and educate people and have
[16:10]people make wise decisions in their life when we look at we
[16:19]see that one of the main teachings of the religion of of
[16:24]Islam one of the main teachings of and the Quran and the
[16:33]religion of Islam is to empower people through bringing them out of
[16:40]the ignorance bringing them out of darkness and having people be able
[16:46]to make decisions on their own this is why we see that
[16:50]something that the religion of Islam called for from day one was
[16:58]to seek knowledge every every single Muslim men or women young or
[17:03]old we have a religious duty to seek knowledge and to educate
[17:07]ourselves and the Quran tells us that the worship even the of
[17:15]someone who is uneducated versus someone who is educated the the worship
[17:22]of the one who is educated is worth many times more than
[17:25]the ones who is UN than the one who is uneducated in
[17:30]one verse Allah says saying are they equal the ones who have
[17:44]the knowledge and the ones who do not have the knowledge and
[17:49]then Allah says no the ones who have the knowledge they their
[17:53]worship and their actions have a very higher position and they weigh
[17:59]much more on the scale in another verse Allah says Allah subhana
[18:14]tala raises the ones who have the knowledge the ones who are
[18:19]educated Allah subhana taala raises them in status in another verse Allah
[18:23]explains why he raises certain people why is it that the the
[18:27]worship of a scholar is worth more than that of an ignorant
[18:35]person Allah says the reason Allah says because when someone has truly
[18:44]understood Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when someone has reached the level of
[18:50]where their faith and their belief and their worship is not based
[18:58]on Blind Faith then that that person they will not be misguided
[19:02]very easily today why do you see many people one problem in
[19:05]their life one struggle in their life and you see some people
[19:10]they leave the religion you see some people they say I'm not
[19:13]going to pray anymore some they take off their hijab why because
[19:19]the main reason that they were praying the main reason that they
[19:22]were worshiping the main reason that they were practicing and fulfilling their
[19:27]duties it wasn't based on it wasn't based on knowledge it was
[19:31]based on culture Society their parents telling them to do something and
[19:35]then once they go through difficulties right away they fall they can't
[19:40]hold this is why Allah says the ones who are knowledgeable they
[19:51]are the ones who will truly have the fear of Allah subhanahu
[19:57]wa ta'ala they will the they will be the ones who will
[19:58]obey Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala genuinely now we see that the religion
[20:07]of Islam called on people to be educated the first verse that
[20:14]came down upon was what read educate yourselves in other verses Allah
[20:23]says do they not Ponder do they not think do they not
[20:27]analyze do they not use their int but today we look at
[20:32]some of the Muslim communities you look at some Muslim countries today
[20:37]and you see that the rate of illiteracy the rate of the
[20:44]people who are uneducated in these countries in these communities you see
[20:47]that it's higher than ever you find a very high illiteracy rate
[20:53]a very high rate of ignorance in some of the Muslim communities
[21:00]some of our own communities now why is there ignorance within communities
[21:08]this is a question that many sociologists many scholars have asked why
[21:15]do we have ignorance why is ignorance very prevalent today you go
[21:19]and you look at some countries on the map you see that
[21:24]there's a 70% illiteracy rate meaning that 70% of the people living
[21:28]in that country don't know how to read or write and it
[21:31]causes a problem you know why because when you don't know how
[21:37]to read and write any sh any say any scholar any person
[21:41]who's standing and speaking whether this person is a scholar or not
[21:43]a scholar they could come and tell this person for example you
[21:48]go to Iraq you find a group of sh that are mourning
[21:51]Imam husin and then he comes and he tells them go and
[21:56]kill yourself blow yourself up and and you will kill other people
[22:00]and you will go straight to heaven now this person doesn't know
[22:05]how to read this person doesn't know how to write this person
[22:08]can't go and read the Quran they can't go and read the
[22:10]Hadith they're going to believe anything that they're told and this is
[22:17]why we within the Muslim Community as a whole I'm not talking
[22:20]about just the Shia I'm talking about the Muslim Community as a
[22:23]whole there is so much struggle one of the main reasons is
[22:28]ignorance ignorance within the community and this is so ironic because the
[22:34]religion of Islam it called upon people to educate themselves it called
[22:43]upon people to seek knowledge men and women seek knowledge even if
[22:48]it was in China Allah tells the people he keeps telling people
[22:57]to educate themselves however we see that there is a very high
[23:02]rate of illiteracy and a group of people who are uneducated this
[23:06]is why you see he kept telling people to be educated who
[23:11]was the city of the door who was the door of the
[23:18]city of knowledge of Al CU Islam tells people come and ask
[23:22]questions don't be afraid IM and IM they used to tell their
[23:26]companions seek knowledge in one he says he says if it was
[23:39]up to me he says if it was up to me I
[23:42]would take a whip and I would whip my companions until they
[23:47]are educated of course the Imam he's not doing that and he
[23:50]doesn't he never did it but he says if it was up
[23:54]to me this is what I would do so that this this
[23:58]is how the IM shows the significance of knowledge and seeking knowledge
[24:01]you see that this is one category one group of people the
[24:05]Quran Allah the Quran the prophet the IMs they kept insisting on
[24:10]people to be educated because when once you're educated you're going to
[24:16]be empowered once you're educated your faith is not going to be
[24:20]shaken very easily and then you find another group of people there
[24:23]has always been that struggle there's another group of people that tells
[24:27]people no no no don't you don't need to go and learn
[24:31]you don't need to be educated you don't need to learn and
[24:33]you see that this is what dictators have been doing throughout history
[24:37]Allah subhah wa tala gives us the example of prophet of during
[24:44]the time of prophet Musa what did do what did Pharaoh do
[24:51]Allah says how did he get people to follow him like sheep
[25:03]he got people to follow him when he belittled them when he
[25:08]belittled them he did not care for their intelligence he did not
[25:11]care for their opinion he did not care when they asked the
[25:14]question and we find that we have certain powers today that this
[25:21]is exactly how they run their country this is exactly how they
[25:24]run their system they don't want anyone asking any questions they don't
[25:28]want anyone saying anything any objection right away you find in thank
[25:33]you very much you find in certain communities or certain countries you
[25:39]go for example you ask why is this why is this right
[25:44]away they'll hit you and they'll beat you and they'll tell you
[25:46]you're mush you're cfir and you're not a Muslim this is something
[25:54]that's very prevalent within the Muslim Community as a whole or sometimes
[25:59]you ask a question you say why do we have to do
[26:03]this they'll tell you this is the culture this is the way
[26:04]we've been doing it for hundreds of years you can't say anything
[26:11]because culturally it's a ritual everyone has been doing it for hundreds
[26:16]of years now sometimes culture Islam doesn't have a problem with culture
[26:20]and rituals but the day the moment your culture any culture it
[26:25]is the day your culture starts contradicting your faith then there's going
[26:31]to be a problem with your culture with your rituals or whatever
[26:38]you do so we see that there has always been a struggle
[26:41]so there's two reasons for ignorance the first reason sociologists and Scholars
[26:49]of communities they say that that reason the reason for ignorance is
[26:54]poverty this is why you go and you look at poor countries
[27:00]you see that mostly in these poor countries you find ignorance because
[27:03]they don't have the resources they don't have the capabilities of teaching
[27:09]people and empowering people so this is one of the reasons however
[27:14]there's another reason that many sociologists many scholars in our communities today
[27:23]fail to comprehend and understand and that is the instit tionalized ignorance
[27:30]that is prevalent in our communities and in our societies what is
[27:36]that institutionalized ignorance is when a group of people a person who
[27:40]is powerful he tries or she tries to keep a very big
[27:47]group of people in the dark keeping them away from knowledge keeping
[27:52]them away from asking questions keeping them away from understanding and and
[27:58]asking and seeing why and using their logic and this is what
[28:04]dictators have been doing why do dictators in some communities they don't
[28:09]want people to learn you go to some countries it's a crime
[28:16]to take with you this is a Quran but it's a crime
[28:18]if you are if you are uh in the airplane once you
[28:23]land in the airport they're not looking for drugs they're not looking
[28:26]for weapons they're not looking for all that stuff they're looking for
[28:30]books they're looking for ideas that you're going to be spreading why
[28:35]because if you have for example the book or if you have
[28:41]or if you have some of the books that talk about the
[28:46]of and that poses a very big danger for them that will
[28:50]shatter their whole ideology so therefore there have been groups of people
[28:58]throughout history and until today that institutionalized ignorance trying to keep people
[29:07]in the dark and this is where we have the problem that
[29:11]we see today this is why every day when you turn on
[29:13]the news you hear that a crime is committed by a so-called
[29:19]Muslim a person who shouted allahar and he went and he killed
[29:23]women and children and innocent people why the main reason for this
[29:27]is ignorance but it's not necessarily ignorance because that person is from
[29:32]a poor country because you find many of these terrorists they go
[29:35]to Iraq they go to Syria they go to these countries to
[29:39]cause problems in their countries they're living like kings their countries they
[29:44]have oil they have so much wealth they're driving the nicest cars
[29:48]but the problem is there are certain people within those countries that
[29:54]are keeping the majority of the people in the dark and this
[30:00]institutionalized ignorance it has a history it's not something that just happened
[30:05]today terrorism that we see today it's not something new there is
[30:10]a very long history and it goes back to the time of
[30:16]it goes back to the time of I'll give you a few
[30:22]examples of how the Muslim Community as a whole was kept in
[30:28]the dark and you be the judge you can determine whether what
[30:32]I'm saying has a value is true or it's just talk four
[30:39]days four days before the death of passed away on a Monday
[30:48]the Thursday before that the Thursday before the death of rol Allah
[30:54]rol Allah of course before that he had asked all of the
[31:01]companions to leave Medina he didn't want the companions to remain in
[31:05]Medina why because this is something that the Quran talked about it
[31:09]might happen he is if he dies or is killed will you
[31:24]turn back over your heel this is something that the Quran said
[31:31]it's a possibility so he was worried so this is why he
[31:35]asked all of the Muslims to leave and join the army of
[31:40]USB Z now there was a very big group of them that
[31:46]did not join the army of Usama Z and he said he
[31:55]said May the curse of Allah be upon the one who does
[32:01]not join the army of us Z now that's a different issue
[32:07]so on the Thursday before the death of a group of Muslims
[32:11]they gathered around Allah when Allah was 4 days before his death
[32:15]he was very weak he kept fainting then they gather around him
[32:22]he tells them bring me a pen and paper so that I
[32:28]write for you something that you shall never go astray after me
[32:32]what happened that day that day they began to fight while is
[32:41]between them they began to argue between them and then one of
[32:45]them he said the book of Allah is enough for us the
[32:54]man is hallucinating the man is hallucinating the pain has overcome him
[32:59]that he's saying things so then he tells them to go away
[33:05]and that there should not be any quarreling next to the prophet
[33:11]and did not tell them the will now some people they come
[33:14]and they say okay why didn't the prophet go ahead and say
[33:18]what he had to say of course what is he going to
[33:22]say they already accused him of being insane they already accused him
[33:25]of saying thing saying nonsense whatever he says they're going to say
[33:29]it was nonsense then they said the book of Allah is enough
[33:37]for us what does that mean that means that we don't care
[33:39]about what had to say we don't care about the Hadith we
[33:43]just want the Quran and you find some Muslims until today they
[33:47]have that mentality until today they come you come and you tell
[33:51]them for example is you come and you tell them is zakat
[33:56]is you tell them this and they say no no no no
[33:59]no come and bring me verse from the Quran right away bring
[34:04]me a verse from the Quran now yes of course it is
[34:06]in the Quran but when we believe in when we say doesn't
[34:14]that mean that we are going to accept the Hadith of the
[34:20]Prophet doesn't that mean that we will accept what the prophet said
[34:23]but you see that immediately after the death of the prophet and
[34:27]even before the death of the Prophet there were individuals that turned
[34:32]against the sayings of now the irony is that that same man
[34:38]of course after that event where was not able and they stopped
[34:46]from saying his willb Abbas Abdullah Abbas the cousin of the prophet
[34:54]he comes out of the room crying and he he says he
[35:02]says all of our Calamity and this is why that event is
[35:08]called the th the Thursday Calamity he says all of our Calamity
[35:16]is because they didn't allow to say his final will and then
[35:20]the irony is that that same man that same man who said
[35:28]when the first Khalifa was passing away he was sitting next to
[35:34]the first Khalifa and the first Khalifa was writing the the will
[35:36]that he is going to be the Khalifa after me what did
[35:40]he say he told all of the Muslims be quiet be quiet
[35:45]he has to say his will respect his will he made everyone
[35:48]be quiet so that the first Khalifa can say his will but
[35:53]when it came to he said the man is hallucinating so we
[35:59]see that there is a history of keeping people in the dark
[36:04]and it started before the death of the Prophet it started a
[36:08]few days before the death of the Prophet when some people turned
[36:12]against the Hadith of and that Hadi that turning against the Hadith
[36:18]it became incorporated into the system it became Allah during the during
[36:26]the first khif and the second Khalifa all the way until Omar
[36:32]abdulaziz the time of Omar abdulaziz it became a law within the
[36:36]Muslim Community to ban people from writing the Hadith of the Prophet
[36:41]it became Allah you could look this up on Google it became
[36:48]illegal to write the Hadith of the prophet and you see that
[36:51]this carried on for decades and for a very long time now
[36:57]now some people until today you ask some Scholars why did they
[37:00]not allow why were they against the Hadith of the Prophet doesn't
[37:06]Allah say whatever what if you if you wish to obey Allah
[37:12]then you have to obey the prophet they come and they say
[37:17]the Muslims at that time they were very afraid for Lo that
[37:20]they will lose the Quran so because they were afraid that they
[37:24]will lose the Quran they made people stop writing and recording the
[37:29]Hadith of the prophet and it is recorded that some of them
[37:34]they gathered the Hadith they gathered the narrations the Muslims they used
[37:37]to write for example what they heard from the prophet they used
[37:40]to write it down it was all gathered and it was all
[37:44]burned so you see that it was incorporated into the system to
[37:50]turn against the Hadith of the prophet and then on the other
[37:54]side you see that many fabricated narration s were added into the
[38:00]faith many fabricated narrations were institutionalized and they became a part of
[38:07]our religion the Hadith that says uh the verse in the Quran
[38:14]it says Allah says oh you people who believe obey Allah obey
[38:27]the prophet and the ones who Allah has designated as the ones
[38:31]who Allah has designated As Leaders today you find a group of
[38:36]people they come and they say anyone who's a Khalifa anyone who's
[38:39]a leader even if it's Abu Bakr Al badi or any king
[38:44]or anyone who is very far from religion if this person came
[38:47]and said I'm your leader in religion then you have to follow
[38:50]this person because the Quran says so now does the Quran truly
[38:57]say this no but you see that this was added into the
[39:00]religion and it was fabricated just a few days ago the day
[39:04]of Ash we found so many people consider the day of Ash
[39:11]a day ofid a day of holiday the day that the grandson
[39:16]of the Prophet was killed there are some people that are actually
[39:19]celebrating on the day of Ash why because of the fabricated narrations
[39:25]that were inserted into our books into the books of Hadith the
[39:32]Hadith supposedly when the prophet was migrating to Medina when he migrated
[39:38]to Medina he saw the Jews celebrating so he asked them why
[39:43]are you celebrating they tell him it's the day of as this
[39:48]is the day that Allah saved B is the Jews from Pharaoh
[39:55]so then supposedly the prophet he said so if Allah saved my
[39:59]brother Moses then I also have to celebrate and then he told
[40:04]the Muslims to fast on the day of as but of course
[40:05]this has so many problems first of all the prophet did not
[40:10]migrate in mam because the Hadith says when the prophet first migrated
[40:12]and then why would the prophet take his religion from the Jews
[40:16]doesn't J come to him doesn't Allah subhana wa tala tell him
[40:21]why would he come and see what others are saying and then
[40:26]the day of ashur even if it was a day that thousands
[40:32]and millions of people celebrated after the day of as year 61
[40:36]after Hijra when im Hussein the grandson of the Prophet was butchered
[40:40]and was killed does that leave anything to celebrate do you have
[40:46]any reason to celebrate that day there's no reason to celebrate the
[40:50]grandson of the Prophet was killed along with his family with his
[40:54]children and that was not enough they took his head head and
[41:00]the family of IM Hussein from City to City through that difficult
[41:03]journey and then you find some people today they have the audacity
[41:07]to come out and try to celebrate on the day of Ash
[41:13]so we see that many fabricated narrations were added into our books
[41:22]of Hadith today some Muslims they ask why do you followers of
[41:28]the not accept the book of bukari sahkari sahkari it is the
[41:32]number one book according to the majority of Muslims it is the
[41:37]number one book after the Quran but we the followers of the
[41:46]we don't accept it why because first of all we don't have
[41:48]any book not a single book even within the school of thought
[41:54]that we consider we don't consider any book because each it has
[41:57]to be analyzed on its own you don't consider a book that
[42:02]has over 5,000th all and right away you accept it all even
[42:05]our Scholars today they come and they look at every single Hadith
[42:08]even in the books that we accept and they analyze every single
[42:13]line in every single sentence in the books of Hadith and this
[42:16]is how you take your religion you don't take it blindly and
[42:20]second we see that there are many Fabrications within this book for
[42:25]example bukari this man the author of sah bukari he does not
[42:35]narrate one Hadith from IM even though he came he came after
[42:41]IM sad and IM sad was a scholar at that time that
[42:43]all of the Muslims used to look up to but who does
[42:47]he narrate a Hadith from he narrates a Hadith from a man
[42:51]by the name of this man he Praises ABD the man who
[42:59]struck so he's willing to narrate a Hadith from a man who
[43:07]praises the murder of but he doesn't narrate aith from IM who
[43:12]is from the lineage and the grandson of they came and they
[43:20]asked him why don't you narrate from IM sad he said there's
[43:22]something in my heart there's something fishy going on this is what
[43:29]he says about Im so you see that there's intentional ignorance institutionalized
[43:35]ignorance where certain powers and certain authorities they try to keep people
[43:42]in the dark and then fourth you see that all of the
[43:51]companions of the Prophet they are made infallible every single companion of
[43:58]the Prophet today if you come and question any action of any
[44:01]of the companions of the Prophet right away they'll say you are
[44:04]attacking the sahaba you're against the sahaba hold up all we're doing
[44:10]is looking at the actions of some of the companions of the
[44:13]Prophet after the prophet weren wasn't there Civil Wars between the Muslims
[44:19]three wars were waged against after he was left in his home
[44:24]for 30 years finally when they came to him and they asked
[44:29]him to be They begged him to be the Khalifa then as
[44:35]soon as he assumed that POS he took that position the official
[44:38]position right away there were three Wars that were waged against him
[44:46]the Battle of jam the Battle of safin and the Battle of
[44:49]Nan these wars it wasn't a group of people that came from
[44:55]Mars it wasn't aliens that came and they fought many of them
[44:58]were the companions of the Prophet they turned against the IM of
[45:01]their time but today if you come and you say why what
[45:05]happened what's the reason for this one of them was wrong right
[45:08]away you are accused of causing sectarian problems Division and you are
[45:14]accused of attacking the sahabah we're not attacking anyone we're coming and
[45:18]seeing exactly what they did many of the companions of the Prophet
[45:26]they were killed by muaah mu he killed some of the most
[45:30]noble Companions of many Muslims were killed by Muslims is it wrong
[45:38]for me to come and ask mua he killedar y the man
[45:46]who said about him that you will be killed by the group
[45:50]that has been LED astray many of the companions of they were
[46:02]all killed by muaah and after muaah came yazid and he caused
[46:10]the same Bloodshed so my dear brothers and sisters why do we
[46:14]gather and remember Imam Hussein why do we cry for Imam Hussein
[46:18]why do we hold this majalis and keep remembering an event that
[46:25]happened over a thousand years ago the answer is not just so
[46:29]that we cry of course it is good to cry for IM
[46:34]Hussein and cried for IM Hussein and the all of the IMs
[46:39]they they shed tears for IM Hussein however there's a greater reason
[46:43]and that is so that we ask ourselves what happened in history
[46:49]why was it that the grandson of the Prophet was killed you
[46:54]know yazid he killed IM Hussein and and many of the companions
[46:57]of the prophet and then the next year after killing Imam Hussein
[47:03]he sent an army all the way to Medina because the people
[47:06]of Medina they rebelled against yazid so he sent an army to
[47:10]Medina and they entered with their horses and with their cattle inside
[47:15]the Masjid of Al and over 700 over 700 sah Companions of
[47:26]were killed in that event ya he made Medina meaning that it's
[47:35]for his soldiers for three days it is said that a year
[47:40]after that event there were a thousand babies that were born that
[47:44]no one knew who their fathers were why because a man like
[47:52]yazid he allowed his army to go and attack and desecrate the
[47:56]two of Al and the mid of and in the city of
[48:03]Al but today you find some people they're saying no no no
[48:06]don't ask don't come and criticize yazid don't talk about mua don't
[48:13]talk about yazid don't mention the crimes of these people because they
[48:16]saw the prophet and they heard from the prophet anyone who sees
[48:20]or hears the prophet right away this person becomes AUM an infallible
[48:24]but then when we say the prophet he himself is infallible they
[48:29]come and they tell us you guys are going too far so
[48:33]the reason that we mention and we remember IM Hussein is so
[48:41]that we educate ourselves so that we know exactly which path we
[48:45]are taking what decisions we are making in our lives IM Hussein
[48:51]was not just for 1,400 years ago Hussein is for our time
[48:54]today because we have to learn to educate ourselves and make wise
[49:02]decisions based on the knowledge that we receive not anyone who comes
[49:08]and tells you something right away you accept what that person says
[49:11]go and do your research go and learn go and do the
[49:15]research all of what I said today it's all mentioned in the
[49:17]books but for some they'll come and they'll tell you don't mention
[49:21]that don't talk about that why to keep people in the dark
[49:31]when we remember IM Hussein when we remember the we awaken our
[49:37]minds our hearts and our emotions because when your mind and your
[49:42]heart and your emotions are all in one line then you will
[49:48]be on the right path when you use your intellect and your
[49:53]heart and you shed your tears for IM Hussein that's when you
[49:57]will be on the right path and this is why we see
[50:02]that IM Hussein on the day of Ash he only had a
[50:07]small number of supporters compared to the enemies there were over 30,000
[50:14]that gathered to kill the grandson of rol but how many people
[50:17]did he himself have how many people were with IM hussein2 72
[50:22]men 72 and a few of the a few of the Companions
[50:30]and the family of IM Hussein if you count them all on
[50:36]that day they were probably around 150 with the men and the
[50:38]women and the children included and you know that many people they
[50:44]left IM Hussein there were some that started the journey from Mecca
[50:48]they started the journey it is said that there were over a
[50:51]thousand people with Imam Hussein and then once they heard new news
[50:56]that Muslim was killed in kufa thousands they began to leave IM
[51:05]Hussein why because they did not use their mind they did not
[51:08]use their intellect IM Hussein when he called people to join him
[51:12]in Mecca he tells them whoever joins me this person will be
[51:19]successful in that this person will meet Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and
[51:24]whoever does not does not join this person will not be able
[51:34]to achieve the victory that we will attain by sacrificing in the
[51:39]way of Allah some people they chose the side of yazid and
[51:43]others they chose the side of IM Hussein now my dear brothers
[51:51]and sisters which side are we going to choose are we going
[51:53]to choose the side that uses their intellect their knowledge and the
[51:57]faculties that Allah gave them or are we going to be led
[52:03]astray by our desires because some people who gathered to kill Imam
[52:06]Hussein on the day of Ash they had nothing against IM Hussein
[52:11]there were some of them that they hated Imam Hussein but the
[52:14]majority of them they had nothing against IM Hussein they just came
[52:17]here so that it is recorded and with yazid with zad that
[52:22]they were in this Army so that they will not be persecuted
[52:25]they will not be attacked and they will receive some gold and
[52:30]silver so make sure you know which side you are on now
[52:38]my dear brothers and sisters since we are still in the night
[52:46]of mam there's no shame in shedding tears for IM Hussein there
[52:51]is no shame in crying for IM Hussein the IMS of the
[52:59]bit they would cry for IM Hussein every year and every time
[53:03]they remember IM Hussein IM it is said that every time anytime
[53:10]they bring him anything to eat or anything to drink his food
[53:16]or his drink would be mixed with his tears for his father
[53:24]IM Hussein they come and they tell him oh grandson of rol
[53:27]Allah why is it how much longer are you going to be
[53:32]crying for IM Hussein for how long do you want to continue
[53:35]crying for IM Hussein he would tell them that Allah subhanahu wa
[53:44]taala took away from y Prophet y Allah took away his son
[53:47]yusf and yub had 12 sons and he was a prophet he
[53:54]knew that Yousef was alive he just was not with him him
[53:56]y kept crying because he lost YF where until he lost his
[54:04]eyes Allah says in the Quran and then he says how do
[54:14]you expect me not to cry when I saw my father and
[54:15]my family and my brothers and the companions of my father all
[54:25]killed one after the other he would would go to the butcher
[54:28]where the butcher is about to slaughter a sheep he would ask
[54:34]the butcher have you given water to this sheep before you Slaughter
[54:37]it the butcher would reply of course this is this is something
[54:43]that your pro this is something that your grandfather taught us he
[54:47]taught us to show even Mercy to an animal before it slaughtered
[54:51]then IM he would turn turn towards and say he says that
[55:16]even the cattle it is given water before it is slaughtered but
[55:20]you were killed thirsty oh abdah H Al the companion of IM
[55:29]he comes to the IM and he tells him say how much
[55:34]longer do you want to continue crying for your father IM Hussein
[55:41]IM he rep he tells him he says oh oh grandson of
[55:52]many men in your family have been killed your uncle IM Hassan
[55:57]your grandfather ham they were all killed in the way of Allah
[56:03]IM Hussein was also killed then the IM would reply oh ham
[56:22]yes our men have been killed but oh H have you ever
[56:29]heard of a hash a woman from our family taken as a
[56:32]prisoner from City to City this is what happened to the family
[56:40]of IM Hussein on a day like this they were taken from
[56:43]kufa and they were placed in Chains and they were taken all
[56:50]the way to the Palace of yaid let us raise our hands
[57:16]in Dua Allah Allah should should we ask questions or if anyone
[58:11]has any questions um regarding the topic or anything else um feel
[58:18]free to ask I know it's difficult to be the first person
[58:28]to ask yes sister yes there are types of knowledge of course
[58:45]there's nothing wrong with seeking knowledge broad knowledge however we have Hadith
[58:54]from the prophet he tells them that and the imams they tell
[58:57]their companions that you have to seek the knowledge that will be
[59:01]the most useful for you now what's the most useful knowledge for
[59:08]you the most useful knowledge for you if you believe in the
[59:12]afterlife if you believe in Allah is for you to be able
[59:17]to prepare for meeting Allah subhana wa ta'ala so that should be
[59:20]the most prioritized knowledge what does that mean that means that I
[59:24]have to pray so I have to learn how to pray I
[59:28]fast I have to learn how to fast I have rules that
[59:30]apply to me Islamic rules that apply to me I have to
[59:34]go and educate myself about these this is a an obligation upon
[59:42]every single one of us if for examp and you have to
[59:44]seek knowledge what based on what is necessary for you what you
[59:51]need to learn for example you're a business person if you're a
[59:54]business person then you need to learn the rules of business in
[59:57]Islam you need to learn the rules of finance and there are
[60:01]rules of Finance in Islam but if you're if you don't have
[60:02]to do with that then that does not apply to you so
[60:06]you have to seek the knowledge that is most important to you
[60:10]and the most important knowledge is seeking knowledge where you will not
[60:16]make mistakes where when you're praying when you're fasting when you're fulfilling
[60:18]your daily duties you're not going to make a mistake so that
[60:23]is the most prioritized knowledge then after that any type of knowledge
[60:29]is good any knowledge that will help you that will help you
[60:32]advance in life that will you know you could make a money
[60:36]make a living out of out of it there's nothing wrong with
[60:39]that there are some types of knowledge that are you one should
[60:44]not try to seek for example trying to learn to do magic
[60:47]because magic in itself for someone to perform magic it's Haram and
[60:52]it's all based upon fooling people people that's why it's Haram so
[60:57]that's a type of knowledge that will not help you in this
[60:59]life or in the afterlife this is something that you should uh
[61:05]abstain away from but the mo there you put it in priorities
[61:06]the first is your religion your faith and then after any other
[61:09]knowledge that could help you and then there's other knowledges other things
[61:13]that might hurt people or abuse or oppress people then that is
[61:20]something we stay away from yes it's very similar to our question
[61:23]so I know there are some knowled Pursuits of knowledge AR but
[61:29]for example philosophy is what I'm talking about or sociology or you
[61:33]know anthropology I've I've known people who study them and then they
[61:36]come out you know their their IM their a is different they
[61:38]become non-muslim even so what is the Islamic position that is that
[61:46]just recomended the the Islamic position is that you have to seek
[61:50]what is prioritized you have to go and try to learn for
[61:52]example someone goes into a field they know that for example if
[61:58]I go into that field it's going to shake my faith especially
[62:01]right now in universities universities one of the main objectives of universities
[62:07]is right away the professor is going to try to get you
[62:10]to shake your your faith right away they're going to try to
[62:15]get you to um say you know you're not going to be
[62:17]certain in what you believe in so in order there are certain
[62:24]classes that probably chances of you being led astray are much higher
[62:28]for example if you just go and learn math Medicine Science that
[62:31]doesn't have anything to do with your religion they're not going to
[62:35]shake your foundations but if you go in a course that will
[62:38]probably have an effect on you then yeah you should stay away
[62:42]from that until you go and you learn and you're able to
[62:45]back your faith until you're able to defend your faith because in
[62:48]Islam we don't have uh our faith is not just based you
[62:53]know we don't have our Scholars saying just believe and you will
[62:56]be saved no in Islam there is a way to strengthen your
[63:02]argument and your faith in Allah subhah wa taala in the Quran
[63:05]in the in the prophet so you should have certainty and then
[63:13]you could go and seek any type of knowledge there was a
[63:16]there was a man during the time of this man the prophet
[63:20]he walked in the Masjid and he saw that many of the
[63:22]Muslims they were gathered around a man so he asked what is
[63:29]this they told him this is a this is a very knowledgeable
[63:33]person so then Allah tells them what is he knowledgeable of they
[63:38]tell him he's knowledgeable in the pre-islamic Poetry the pre-islamic poetry and
[63:48]and the family trees of the Arabs this was something that the
[63:54]Arabs they it was you know their their priority their family tree
[63:58]and the Arabic poetry that they had so then the prophet he
[64:01]replied that is not real knowledge how are you going to benefit
[64:07]yourself if you know who's from which which tribe who's from which
[64:10]family tree then they ask the prophet what is the knowledge he
[64:18]tells them to know an ay a ay either a verse from
[64:20]the Quran or a sign of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and then
[64:25]a Sunnah of the Prophet to know a Sunnah of the prophet
[64:28]and third to know a to know an obligation upon yourself you
[64:35]have to pray you know how to pray you know exactly how
[64:38]to do the wo you know exactly your obligations that is real
[64:42]knowledge because that will save you in the afterlife that is something
[64:47]that will help you in this life and in the afterlife other
[64:49]types of knowledge it might be useful it might not be useful
[64:52]this is why the it's not that they were against knowledge because
[64:57]IM and they were the ones who taught chemistry and biology and
[65:01]all of and all of these teachings astronomy they were they were
[65:07]the founders of of these uh teachings and these Sciences so nothing
[65:11]is wrong with that because that will eventually bring you back to
[65:16]Allah subhana wa ta'ala if you are a good scientist you will
[65:19]conclude that there is a faith if you're a good doctor you
[65:23]will conclude that there is a God because you're a you're going
[65:26]to see all the signs they all come together and they all
[65:31]lead to one Creator so there's nothing wrong with that type of
[65:35]knowledge but there are some sciences that are not very useful okay
