[0:07][Music] so [Music] for centuries the topic of angels has never ceased
[0:47]to intrigue people many adore the idea of heavenly sinless pure beings
[0:55]that are at the disposal of their lord and carry glad tidings
[1:01]and are a source of blessings many world religions predominantly judaism christianity
[1:10]and islam have placed an emphasis in recognizing the significance of said
[1:22]heavenly beings especially islam in the sense that in order to maintain
[1:32]your identity as an adherent of islam then you must believe in
[1:38]the angels of god for the holy quran makes reference multiple times
[1:45]that in order to be muslim you are to believe in god
[1:51]his messenger and the angels of god alongside him which leads to
[2:01]the following questions what are angels islamically speaking are we safe to
[2:11]assume the common cultural traditional white robed wearing halo wearing two-winged creation
[2:17]is what an angel is in reality is that sufficient does that
[2:24]suffice or is there more depth to that furthermore why are angels
[2:34]necessary if god is all-powerful if he wants something he just wills
[2:42]it and it becomes the quran highlights if god ever wants anything
[2:47]to happen be and it will be kuhn fayakun therefore what is
[2:54]the need to have angels at your disposal to carry out your
[2:58]expectations if you are all powerful and so forth angels from an
[3:05]islamic perspective carry out allah's duties upon all of his creation that
[3:17]includes in the afterlife and in the heavens in hell and in
[3:22]this realm this worldly dunya that we are in and that we
[3:31]live angels are part and parcel of our every day society there
[3:38]are angels that supervise the cosmos there are angels that supervise the
[3:43]weather those that are responsible for disciplining those that are guardians those
[3:52]that fulfill multiple duties in multiple roles but that begs the question
[4:02]once more god can't you just do all of this allah obviously
[4:08]can do everything he wants successfully perfectly however in order for us
[4:19]to best understand our lord allah uses intermediaries a medium if you
[4:25]will otherwise god could easily have inspired us and every time they
[4:31]can harry to pray five times a day and the proper way
[4:34]to pray and so forth but we were taught through prophets god
[4:38]used a wasilla a medium to reach me and you that being
[4:45]said if god did that then who am i not to use
[4:50]a means to reach him the angels the saints of god this
[4:54]is from one understanding to best better understand our lord god has
[5:01]made these angels allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made these angels with their
[5:08]roles not every angel is the same from the outset there are
[5:13]angels that have the role of providing life angels that have the
[5:18]role of taking life angels that have the role of carrying revelation
[5:21]angels that have the role of taking deeds and actions back to
[5:26]the heavens and a clear apparent record and the angels themselves make
[5:31]mention and reference in that they have different duties and none among
[5:46]us except that he has a very obvious clear duty station there
[5:55]are angels stationed everywhere some of them one would argue more epic
[6:01]than others the likes of the archangel gabriel the likes of biblically
[6:08]raphael or israel the likes of mikhail and so forth angels assigned
[6:15]to only due tasbih night and day glorifying allah that's all they
[6:19]do angels only in the states are prostration that's all they do
[6:27]which gives us an understanding of who allah is because if that's
[6:31]what they are assigned to do then where do i stand i
[6:38]need to prioritize myself at that point if this is what the
[6:42]angels are doing a dilemma that emerges is angels are infallible sinless
[6:48]yet we the human beings are fallible to error and sin with
[6:55]the exception of god's saints the prophets the leaders the imams so
[6:58]forth but the angels are understood to be less significant than us
[7:05]the human being how is that the case if angels are infallible
[7:08]we are to follow the infallible for we are fallible to error
[7:14]and sin they don't error they don't err and sin they cannot
[7:17]because they are programmed to never sin and the reason why us
[7:23]the human being are considered closer to allah than even the angels
[7:31]is because they yes don't sin effortlessly or as we have to
[7:35]put effort to not sin which one is more commendable the struggle
[7:42]the grind of avoiding desire temptation sinning oppression injustice or that which
[7:49]was yeah i was programmed to never do any of these things
[7:51]effortlessly it's a lot more commendable that there's a struggle to this
[7:56]process and you still succeed hence why we get a glimpse that
[8:02]the angels carry an emotional faculty they never er they don't sin
[8:07]but they are emotional and we find this in the holy quran
[8:17]and when your lord has announced to the angels i am bringing
[8:22]upon the earth a vice gerund a representative the angels replied the
[8:27]following reply will lightly shake our common understanding of what angels are
[8:33]pure innocent which they are by the way but it gives you
[8:36]a further dimension if you will they replied are you going to
[8:50]put someone down who will spread injustice facade yes and will spill
[9:00]blood and it's as if it's as if it's as if they
[9:02]gave themselves as an alternative while we glorify you in thanks and
[9:11]we sanctify you they did not contest allah no as we said
[9:16]that would be a sin and they are not programmed to sin
[9:19]you don't contest allah you can inquire and we see this happening
[9:25]in the lives of the prophets abraham asking how do you revive
[9:31]the dead says i do believe i just need to have more
[9:38]tranquility and certainty in my heart by seeing the revival of the
[9:43]dead and the angels do as such they're confused the vice jared
[9:47]was a human being and not them the human fallible to error
[9:50]and sin they are infallible why didn't they get that honorary role
[9:54]of representing the lord why because god says in the quran this
[10:07]quran was revealed to a mountain and the duties to fulfill the
[10:13]quran was incumbent for the mountains how epic are these mountains how
[10:15]large are these mountains how strong are these mountains immovable they would
[10:20]have crumbled and whimpered out of fear from their lord the one
[10:26]creation that can handle these duties is the human being for they
[10:29]have to go and put effort and grind to avoid sinning whereas
[10:34]you and the mountain nothing disobeys allah because by design the human
[10:40]being has to struggle and in that regard the human being has
[10:45]attained that significance allah has made the jinn with fire made the
[10:51]human with clay and made the angel distinct with light these angels
[10:59]have multiple stations some of these angels carry the task of announcing
[11:06]the day of judgment others take the soul others remain in heaven
[11:12]and hold and carry the throne of god allah has a throne
[11:17]to sit on absolutely not but allah has a symbolic creation the
[11:23]throne that represents sovereignty otherwise allah doesn't sit which leads to a
[11:30]fundamentalistic reading of the quran which is wrong is not meant to
[11:38]be taken literal the merciful one inclined back or reclined back rather
[11:43]upon the throne rather it's a representation of allah's majesty which allah
[11:50]is not limited by rules he created that would be absurd and
[11:55]that which is limited is not worthy to be worshipped we find
[11:58]this mentioned in the holy quran allah says that those who hold
[12:06]the aush of allah the throne of god wamen and whatever surrounds
[12:11]and whoever rather surrounds the throne so there are angels that hold
[12:15]the throne and there are angels that surround those who hold the
[12:17]throne of allah behind him they glorify their lord in thanks as
[12:27]well and they believe in him wholeheartedly these angels and the ones
[12:34]that surround the throne of god and they repent on behalf of
[12:40]those who believe so there are angels that do multiple things tasked
[12:43]with multiple responsibilities holding the throne circumbabulating the throne praising the lord
[12:50]and thanks believing in the lord with conviction and additional repenting on
[12:56]our behalf there are angels to highlight the various roles that are
[13:03]present constantly recording all of our actions there are angels upon you
[13:20]that record everything we find this reiterated in the chapter of yasin
[13:28]and everything every word you utter every thought you have every step
[13:35]you take every sound you make recorded in an apparent record who
[13:38]records these the angels but don't worry yes everything is recorded but
[13:46]they are generous when they record they won't triple quadruple emphasize the
[13:52]sin that you made rather due to the infinite mercy of our
[13:58]lord he orders and this is now entering the world of tradition
[14:00]and islamic literature orders the angel that documents the sins to postpone
[14:06]documenting that sin seven hours later such that with the potential the
[14:11]sinner will repent and it doesn't need to be recorded and for
[14:14]the one who commits a good act immediately write it down and
[14:19]record it so they are generous kiram and kativeen they are generous
[14:23]with their recording as well so there are these angels that hold
[14:28]the throne surround the throne circumbabulate it those who document our record
[14:31]and so forth in addition to that these angels never ever speak
[14:40]preceding allah they do not they do not precede allah in his
[14:53]speech we found in the example of the story of adam when
[14:56]allah announced to these angels they waited after allah made his statement
[15:05]of sudo so they never speak preceding allah and with whatever allah
[15:10]orders they are observant they are obedient to there are guardian angels
[15:18]these are heavenly angels these are angels that record but then there
[15:23]are angels that guard that are allies for like a better words
[15:28]there are angels allah states in the quran [Music] foreign angels for
[15:57]those whom said our lord is allah.
[16:02]and they establish themselves sincerely with what they said so it's not
[16:07]sufficient to just say our lord is god there we go heaven
[16:11]is waiting for me they are establishing what they said angels literally
[16:19]come down angels come to you that means i interact with angels
[16:25]all of a sudden which enters a different uh dimension for us
[16:30]the world of the unseen interacts with the world of the scene
[16:33]and the world of the scene through ways which we don't necessarily
[16:37]comprehend properly also interact with the world of the unseen they make
[16:45]mention don't be afraid please don't you believe in your lord and
[16:50]you established that very clear don't be afraid don't be sad it's
[16:54]okay and we will give you glad tidings bushra we will give
[17:00]you a glad tidings of heaven that has been promised for you
[17:02]no no we are your guardians where have you been my guardian
[17:08]o angel angels guard us they are there they serve as blessings
[17:12]the hadith makes mention now if we invite guests to break their
[17:18]fast in our home the angels come alongside those guests what's the
[17:21]purpose of these angels who takes the ejarthi hasanah to the heavens
[17:25]and records all of this if not the angel so if the
[17:28]angels are near you in proximity then that happens quickly your good
[17:33]deeds are recorded immediately the blessings are then multiplied the blessings are
[17:39]added they are increased just because they're near you and the work
[17:46]of multiple scholars of hadith we find many traditions highlighting that the
[17:53]angels are located in certain areas in this world masajid islamic centers
[17:59]a places of two zikr places of remembrance of god and purity
[18:05]you can have a place that's pure but not necessarily any remembrance
[18:10]of god any place that has not had acts of transgression towards
[18:14]allah happening around as a place that's pure and a place that
[18:19]has people remembering allah working in favor of allah are places of
[18:29]zikr we have in traditions the shrine of imam hussain the grandson
[18:33]of the prophet muhammad peace and blessings be upon him and his
[18:37]progeny in a supplication when we approach the shrine we mention assalamu
[18:42]alaykum upon your angels who are stationed in this blessed area this
[18:50]is a blessed area a masjid a place of vicar and a
[18:56]place of purity surrounding the holy body of the prophet's own flesh
[19:00]the grandson and so these angels surround what are the qualifications or
[19:08]what are the qualities of angels we find in another quranic maxim
[19:15]alhamdulillah r all things belongs to allah creator of the heavens and
[19:35]the earth designer of the angels a signer of the angels to
[19:41]be messengers and serve as messengers and guides for man and woman
[19:47]kind angels of which have two wings three wings and four wings
[19:52]hey and if we enter the world of hadith thousands of wings
[19:56]one wingspan the distance of the sun and the moon they're not
[20:00]limited by our basic understanding of physics not at all these are
[20:07]the angels of allah allah therefore these are the angels they have
[20:13]an emotional faculty they have a drive in gravitation to places of
[20:19]purity and they have a desire of glad tiding their necessity is
[20:27]found in our comprehension of allah never needed to create angels absolutely
[20:33]but did so out of his infinite mercy such that we are
[20:39]now better able to understand our lord have your priorities set if
[20:44]one angel all he is doing then you might describe poor guy
[20:49]for millennia just in the state of sujud then where should i
[20:51]be in addition to that that angel is extremely proud to be
[20:57]worshiping his lord in that manner obedience and worship what more do
[21:02]you want from that therefore these angels yes some have described them
[21:07]having that traditional cultural rather understanding of wings illuminating and radiating many
[21:16]have stated that in the term uli ajnihatin for example jannah means
[21:24]station means roll because you find for example at jannah al-assar the
[21:30]right wing the left ring it doesn't necessarily mean physical bird avian
[21:35]like wings no it could simply mean or roll because that term
[21:41]in arabic you could hear in regards to battalions or units go
[21:48]and secure the right wing are we speaking about bird wings no
[21:53]we're talking about a position that can happen and that can be
[21:58]a possibility but the word for position has already been used and
[22:02]we are using the quran to explain the quran here the word
[22:06]for position and status has already been used the angel literally speaks
[22:15]for himself in this one verse and none among us accepts that
[22:21]he has a very clear makaam station position some of us are
[22:25]assigned positions different from others but every single angel has a particular
[22:30]position may allah surround us with these heavenly creations understanding their significance
[22:36]is paramount and islamic theology inspired by angels be surrounded with angels
[22:45]by not uttering words of disobedience in the way of our lord
[22:49]the traditions make mention that a derogatory term has the angels sprinting
[22:58]and flying away not sprinting but the example still is found that
[23:02]they leave the area of anyone who utters filthy words utter good
[23:08]words anyone who greets their family positively in a way that they
[23:13]prefer has the angel come near them give sadaqa and charity the
[23:17]angels surround them and these angels can inspire us in ways we
[23:21]do not realize and this is where the world of the scene
[23:25]this realm interacts with the world of the unseen in ways we
[23:30]don't realize but the angels can see us we can't necessarily see
[23:35]them the reality is we will never know if we are ever
[23:39]interacting with an angel but the world of tradition and islamic theology
[23:44]has mentioned that yes the angels interact and engage with man and
[23:50]womankind directly directly and interact and behave but the individual has no
[23:54]clue that this was an angel maybe a good word that you
[23:58]needed to hear at that moment inspired by an angel and you
[24:01]never see this individual ever again lady maryam the quran describes that
[24:05]gabriel came not in his angelic form like he would come to
[24:11]the holy prophet muhammad peace and blessings be upon him and his
[24:15]progeny but he came in a very elegantly looking individual bashar and
[24:22]sawiya and that the angels can approach human beings and they can
[24:27]ship shape in a manner in which we can best comprehend them
[24:31]therefore watch out whoever you meet for the first time keep in
[24:35]mind that be generous and kind for others but it defeats the
[24:40]purpose if you keep in the back burner that if i speak
[24:44]with the new people i've never met they could be angels let
[24:46]me be good that defeats the purpose we are here for this
[24:50]short time we have these angels guarding and acting as allies for
[24:57]us recording every single action we do and maybe that one day
[25:02]might come in which these angels will be present in front of
[25:05]us and give us that glad tiding that we've also desperately wanted
[25:11]to hear and listen from may allah bless us all in that
[25:35]regard [Music] so [Music] you
