[1:33]siddhappa kneeling Salada muhammad wa ala muhammad my dear brothers when your
[1:46]sisters salaam alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh it's a pleasure to be back here
[1:54]amongst you again although I think this is my first time spending
[2:02]part of the holy month of Ramadan in this city which everything
[2:05]is different in here in all aspects in retrospect you know the
[2:09]city is so Lively things are just ongoing and just everything is
[2:15]different here but inshallah if Allah gives us no fear over the
[2:19]next couple of so weeks that we will be having together the
[2:26]schedule will be the discussion mainly will concentrate around the story of
[2:34]a personality that appears only once in the holy quran by once
[2:39]I mean in only one of its chapters yet there is some
[2:46]description about this personality some of the adventures that this personality went
[2:52]through yet there isn't much discussion about who he was what he
[2:57]did and this personality is according to the holy book on Vulcan
[3:05]Ain AG 9 which literally translates as the man with the two
[3:10]horns while we discuss insha'Allah the story of dhul-qarnain as it appears
[3:17]in surah till calf will try to shed some lights about some
[3:23]of the lessons that we would learn from this story in our
[3:28]lives now we will also come across the time of the Shahada
[3:36]of Imam Ali salawatullahi wa salamu alayh and so we will take
[3:39]a break from the discussion about the nine for about three nights
[3:45]on the eve of the 19th the 20th the 21st of the
[3:48]holy month where we will dedicate these three nights for Imam Ali
[3:51]Salaam allaha la learning about some of his history and then we
[3:59]have one night which is the 23rd night of the holy month
[4:02]of Ramadan which is lailatul Qatar the third night of lailatul God
[4:07]also will dedicate that night also for Leila to Adam so this
[4:10]takes about four nights away from us leaving us approximately with about
[4:14]eight to nine nights give or take to discuss the story of
[4:18]the leg nine so that will be kind of our schedule and
[4:21]sha Allah over the next two or so weeks if Allah gives
[4:25]a stop we have to do so so tonight insha'Allah we will
[4:30]commence our discussion about dhul-qarnayn and the verses in Surat al-kahf that
[4:35]talk about him and then towards the end we will also try
[4:42]to shed some light about the Battle of better which took place
[4:45]on the 17th day of the holy month of Ramadan that was
[4:50]the first battle in Islam so try to kind of wrap up
[4:54]with that tonight if Allah gives us tafiq tomorrow insha'Allah we'll continue
[4:58]with the struggle cognate then as I said three nights off we
[5:01]go back to the cognate one night off and then we continue
[5:04]towards him until the end of the month so now you have
[5:10]some idea about what we will be discussing if Allah gives us
[5:13]topics to do so before I get into the discussion of or
[5:20]about dhul-qarnayn when it comes to history there are ideas about how
[5:27]should we approach history for example there is a famous historian by
[5:31]the name of Butterfield he came up with a preposition suggesting that
[5:39]a historian should not write or give any moral implications when discussing
[5:48]history in other words all the historians job is to relate what
[5:53]happened in history the events and we leave it up to the
[5:58]reader when you are reading that history you then come up with
[6:04]your judgement about what happened who was right who was wrong according
[6:10]to him a historians job is not to impose his beliefs his
[6:15]ideologies or her ideologies to the reader and that's what they call
[6:26]keeping out the moral tone of history so that's one example about
[6:30]the approach towards reading history other historians however including a one recent
[6:36]contemporary one from the University of Illinois in Chicago James Kraft however
[6:41]he writes in one of his papers that history as a historian
[6:45]you have to give your moral judgement to what happened in history
[6:53]so when we read when we learn about history we have to
[6:56]analyze history it's not just a matter of relaying it to the
[7:01]people but rather we need to really analyze it go through it
[7:04]discuss it and figure out who was right who was wrong why
[7:10]where events done so that we can learn from them and interestingly
[7:13]James craft himself suggests that when it came to Butterfield himself the
[7:23]man who suggested that we should keep morality out of historian history's
[7:30]portrayal he himself fell victim a couple of times to his own
[7:33]problems or his own notion where he himself sometimes suggested some moral
[7:39]tones and used some moral words towards his portrayal of some turn
[7:45]aspects of the history that he was portraying so nonetheless it seems
[7:52]that when we take a look at history it is important to
[7:55]do so in addition to just reading it we need to analyze
[8:00]it we need to characterize it we need to go through it
[8:03]reflect opponent learn from it that's why you find in many of
[8:09]the major universities in the world today if not all of them
[8:11]they all have a Department of History and there are historians who
[8:17]read that history analyzed the history and try to derive lessons from
[8:20]history so it's a very important aspect that we have to learn
[8:25]about the Holy Quran also contains some history the Holy Quran tells
[8:33]us lessons about things that happened in the past when it came
[8:37]to prophet musa peace be upon him and the pharaoh when it
[8:40]came to prophet ibrahim alayhis salam other stories so there are some
[8:45]historical notions or historical facts in the quran or on however does
[8:57]give some what we may call moral analysis for example when it
[9:01]comes to firown' one of the examples used in the quran about
[9:07]him and his followers in suet is Olaf Allah subhana WA Ta'ala
[9:10]says Festus Africa Ummah who for Aparo n Nam Cano Bauman phosphine
[9:18]he fooled his people so they obeyed him they followed him the
[9:23]Pharaoh indeed they were transgressors that suggests to us that Allah subhana
[9:30]WA Ta'ala is condemning their act in following the Pharaoh suggesting to
[9:36]us we should analyze the history that happened between prophet musa alehsalaam
[9:42]and the pharaoh and learn from it and learn which paths to
[9:46]take someone was right and the other one was not in surat
[9:52]al Mehsud bismillah menara hain tab bhatia da ABI Lahab in a
[9:57]tab tradition to the hands of Abu Lahab who was the prophets
[10:00]uncle no and his wife allah has telling us with the vocabulary
[10:08]with the use of the verbs have bet that do not follow
[10:11]that example it's a bad example in another ayah in some other
[10:20]stories for della Palma Valley mean away be those people who are
[10:24]oppressors tyrants so we find in numr examples and accounts and the
[10:30]holyoke of odd allah subhana wa ta'ala when he uses history Allah
[10:34]is trying to teach us lessons about what happens one thing interesting
[10:40]about the stories of the Quran however they're not factual they're real
[10:45]they're things that have happened in the past they are things which
[10:51]we can relate to we're dealing with real humans and not fictitious
[11:00]not fiction but it's real and that's important because we then have
[11:09]a rich and abundant history consisting of all those people who are
[11:15]found in the holy quran who were real people in addition as
[11:19]muslims we have the history of rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa ala in
[11:24]addition as followers of ahlulbayt alayhi wa sallam we also have the
[11:28]history of the muscle mean salawatullahi wa sallam wali him ajma'in and
[11:33]this is something very important because it gives us a wealth of
[11:41]role models that we can learn from and follow we do not
[11:45]need to create fictional characters to learn from and to derive lessons
[11:50]from them let me share this example with you many years ago
[11:57]when i was doing my undergraduate degree and in the class of
[12:02]english at the university we were studying a play by Shakespeare called
[12:08]Hamlet hey guys familiar with Hamlet remember that to be or not
[12:12]to be guy you know whether tis nobler in the mind to
[12:14]suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and that that guy
[12:18]you know that that person so interestingly you know we're learning about
[12:22]Hamlet and whatever you know the problems that Hamlet had you know
[12:24]his father died when he was young and created problems its mother
[12:29]remarry and so on so forth you guys are familiar those of
[12:32]you who've read the play one day I was talking to the
[12:38]instructor of the classroom and they were saying you know it's quite
[12:41]interesting but why do we invest so much time learning about Hamlet
[12:44]you know what was Hamlet thinking for example at that instant you
[12:50]know when he committed this or when he did this what was
[12:52]going on through his mind well it's fiction I mean Hamlet is
[12:57]not even real you're asking me what was going through Hamlet's mind
[13:00]I mean he's a fictional character for God's sake I mean you
[13:02]can tell him a scientist here with all the respect of humanitarians
[13:04]you know people do humanities I I have a lot of respect
[13:08]for them of course because historians are amongst them but nonetheless sometimes
[13:11]they just invest a lot of time studying what was Macbeth thinking
[13:16]about when he was doing this what was Hamlet thinking about well
[13:21]so one day I was having this conversation with with the instructor
[13:25]of the class and I was saying you know you're asking us
[13:27]all these interesting questions you know and I used the adjective interesting
[13:31]you know in some interesting ways but you know so you're asking
[13:37]us all these instruments interesting questions about what was going through the
[13:40]mind of Hamlet I mean he's a fictional character for God's sake
[13:45]I mean it's not even real no he didn't even have a
[13:48]mind because it's fiction so she said what are you talking about
[13:53]don't say that it's like as if I offended her she says
[14:01]do you know as of today this was well some time ago
[14:10]she says as of today there are 3,500 research papers in universities
[14:16]people who've done research people who do master's degree PhD degrees 3,500
[14:20]research papers written on Hamlet on Hamlet and I'm like are you
[14:28]serious I mean Hamlet is not even real is fiction if you
[14:31]tell me there are 3,500 research papers written on Shakespeare I can
[14:36]understand that at least he was real the man was a genius
[14:40]you know as a poet you know he made a lot of
[14:44]contributions I guess with the English literature so okay understandable people cannot
[14:47]study the life of Shakespeare what he was what was Shakespeare thinking
[14:50]about when he wrote Hamlet at least that's that I can digest
[14:52]maybe but 3500 research papers written about a fictional character they asked
[15:03]what do people research on Hamlet so she's like no we need
[15:12]to really search and study about Hamlet what events transpired in Hamlet's
[15:17]life that made him go through the difficulties and the problems that
[15:22]he went through these are lessons we can learn from and implement
[15:27]them in real societies here that we learn from a fictional character
[15:39]created by a poet and we derive lesson from that fictional character
[15:42]and the life of that fictional character so that we can implement
[15:47]them in the real society nothings interesting 3500 research papers on a
[15:58]fictional character how many papers do we have written on photometric Zahara
[16:02]Ali has Sarah how many papers do we have written on a
[16:08]mammal media age Allah Ta'ala philosophies our Imam he's alive he's with
[16:13]us right now those were real people they were not fiction in
[16:18]fact Allah says they were the best of Allah's creation how many
[16:23]papers do we have written about the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu aleyhi wa
[16:32]about imam ali salam ala ala how did they govern what was
[16:37]the governorship system of the prophets of Allah Allahu Allah and that
[16:41]of Imam Ali how did they govern their societies that's something interesting
[16:45]to learn about because it's real it's something that is not fictional
[16:49]it's something that happened in society people lived at peace in that
[16:56]society for example at the time of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
[17:00]al and Medina towards the end of his life people were in
[17:03]such peace that people did not need to lock their stores there
[17:10]were no thieves no thieves well how did he manage to achieve
[17:15]that what did he do this is not fiction it's real so
[17:19]we need to study this this is something worth of studying and
[17:22]that's something in sha allah we will shed some light on in
[17:26]sha allah allah gives us no fear about one of the aspects
[17:28]on imam ali salam ala highly how he handled poverty and how
[17:33]he dealt with poverty because there is a lot of discussion these
[17:36]days that we would like to eradicate poverty well we have a
[17:40]system in history that eradicated poverty how did it work what did
[17:44]he do see this was something interesting that's something interesting because that's
[17:48]real that's not fiction and that's answers also the question that I
[17:53]get asked many times in different places I get told chick you
[18:00]know you're telling us that we need to follow role models such
[18:02]as the prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa as Fatima to Sahara alehissalaam
[18:06]you talk to me about the hijab of a say default on
[18:11]alehissalaam the hijab over say the zainab salam Liholiho the the life
[18:14]of a seder Khadija Salam Allahu alaihi you talk to me about
[18:17]the great lives of the Imams alayhi wassalam those however were people
[18:24]who lived 1400 years ago give or take or 1200 years ago
[18:27]and now we live in this century you're talking to me for
[18:33]example about the hijab over say the Sahaba alaihi Salam from 1400
[18:37]years ago well in her days there were no Calvin Klein Versace
[18:42]banana Gabbana whatever all those things didn't exist so how do you
[18:51]relate it well I tell them for God's sake if researchers are
[18:58]studying the life of a fictional character that was created four hundred
[19:04]years ago give or take four hundred years ago he was created
[19:10]by a mind of a poet and they're learning from his life
[19:17]to derive lessons in the real world don't tell me that we
[19:19]can go back sixteen or fourteen hundred years ago and learn from
[19:24]the life of a real character like a sadist aha alehissalaam and
[19:26]the job of a sailors aha and a job of a seder
[19:31]zeyneb and the life of a sailor Khadijah and the life of
[19:33]Ahlul Bayt alayhi wasallam when in fact the Quran tells us they
[19:38]are your role models laqad Canela comfy rasul allah he was rotten
[19:41]Hassan and the example of the Prophet and the Messenger of God
[19:44]is a role model for you people when you say that people
[19:53]like oh okay yeah okay the guys I asked people I mean
[19:55]how many of you guys those of you in universities you guys
[20:00]studied Hamlet have you said in Macbeth steady don't go go talk
[20:03]to your teacher I mean maybe you can update my numbers you
[20:07]know Batman back then there were 3,500 research papers I don't know
[20:10]what what they're at right now and people who invest their PhDs
[20:12]to do a PhD you need like three four or five years
[20:18]of your life you dedicate to a fictional character studying a fictional
[20:22]character I mean I respected I respected I have great respect for
[20:27]it because it's something to learn but I come back and say
[20:33]if that's how much time is invested on studying a fictional character
[20:37]then why not we invest the time to learn about the whole
[20:41]vitale komatsuna you know interestingly as of today as of today in
[20:49]the English world in the English academic world in universities there is
[20:56]not a single major work on natural balada for example natural Bulava
[21:03]which is the words and the sermons of imam ali salam ala
[21:10]ala there isn't one single major work unnatural Bulava papers maybe here
[21:15]or there so interestingly a fictional character receives 30 500 research papers
[21:21]whereas the words of imam ali syllable Mohali don't receive any attention
[21:27]or very very little attention see that's where we need to invest
[21:32]time and that's one of the reasons we will be taking a
[21:36]look at the story of the logname it's a story that comes
[21:38]from the Quran about a character who is real he's not fictional
[21:42]and therefore the things he did can really give us lessons about
[21:50]things we can implement in our life because the Quran was not
[21:53]only written 1400 years ago it's written for eternity until the day
[21:58]of judgement at least so speaking of dhul-qarnayn very briefly the ayah
[22:07]begins in verse number 83 surat al-kahf smilla rahman al rahim why
[22:12]as a loon occur on the name and they ask you about
[22:19]gog name who's you they ask you who's you huh hey guys
[22:28]with me here hello we have people here who's you I'm Eduardo
[22:35]Mohammad lon what's wrong with you salah whathe brothers and sisters you
[22:41]know this is this is not very encouraging when the first night
[22:43]you know I don't know anything let's write this against allah muhammad
[22:46]wa ala muhammad Wow I'm gonna do I know my god that's
[22:51]a little bit more encouraging here you know the prophet sallallaahu Alice
[22:56]says our prophet says whenever my name is mentioned raise your voice
[23:00]loudly by saying Vassell Awad because Leanna hood alpha N ha to
[23:06]the Heavenly Father I mean a little it removes hypocrisy from the
[23:11]heart so salli ala muhammad wa ala muhammad okay and that was
[23:18]not supposed to be a tricky questions my brother and sisters they
[23:21]ask you about the pugna you is referring to the prophet sallallaahu
[23:28]oil so who was asking that's an interesting question someone is asking
[23:31]a group of people are asking where's Aluna cap and el cog
[23:35]9 who's asking it is said that the non-believers of Croatia of
[23:43]Mecca then unbelievers when the prophet sallallaahu oil started preaching about Islam
[23:46]question trivia question again maybe I don't know if the English how
[23:51]old was our prophet when he started preaching or when he received
[23:58]the message I sent - masha'Allah very good mashallah good ok 40
[24:01]years old so when the prophet sallallaahu while it was 40 years
[24:05]old and he started preaching or talking about the religion of Islam
[24:13]okay he's got police got agitated they tried different tactics some of
[24:17]them failed in fact all of them failed one of the tactics
[24:20]they tried was this they said you know what if this guy
[24:25]claims that he knows things which people don't know let's test him
[24:29]maybe we can humiliate him well how do we do this let's
[24:34]go to people of the book as how we'll get up or
[24:36]I will get up the people of the book Christians Jews let's
[24:39]go to them and let's ask them about some stories that are
[24:43]found in their books and they will teach us and we can
[24:47]go back and ask the Prophet to test him and if he
[24:52]can't answer perfect we just humiliated him great so they actually travel
[24:58]at lengths to meet with some people of the people of the
[25:02]book and they talk to them they say to them you know
[25:06]give us some questions that we can ask this prophet of ours
[25:09]you know the man who claims to be a prophet so we
[25:11]can humiliate him give us some questions say well okay fine ask
[25:20]him about a group of people who slept in a cave and
[25:23]they woke up sometime later okay good okay ask him about Google
[25:31]I said okay but what is the story of the people who
[25:33]slept in the cave tell us I mean if he answers how
[25:35]do we know he's telling us what's right or what's wrong we
[25:37]don't know what the story of the people of the cave so
[25:40]they taught them they told them what the story of us Hubble
[25:42]care the people of the cave okay according to what was written
[25:48]in the scripture so okay well what else said well ask him
[25:52]about a king who ruled the east and the West okay well
[25:58]what is the story of this king who ruled the East and
[26:02]the West so they told them this is a story that's found
[26:04]in the Torah okay well what else the third question some commentators
[26:12]of the Quran they differ on they said it was either about
[26:16]the story of the scholar home prophet musa alayhis salam was asked
[26:21]to follow according to the quran also in surat al-kahf moosa aleihsalaam
[26:24]was as to follow some scholar his name is not mentioned in
[26:30]the quran but the commentators say it was Al Sabah alehissalaam the
[26:32]Prophet El Cobre the story is mentioned in the Quran either that
[26:36]or the question was asked him about what is the soul of
[26:45]what is the soul he will answer two of them the third
[26:48]one will be a very difficult one to answer you guys will
[26:54]not understand the answer so see what he replies back with Wes
[26:57]Aluna karna whoa whoa whoa woman Emily grab the wama booty terminal
[27:02]Allah Allah they ask you about the soul the rule say in
[27:10]response to their question it is a matter of my lord and
[27:14]you don't have enough knowledge to understand so that's what was the
[27:22]reply about the third question either that or the story of Musa
[27:26]and elsalam either one but the first two questions was about the
[27:29]hubblecast the people of the cave and the king who ruled the
[27:33]east and the west so when it came to us Hubble calf
[27:34]and that's why the surah was revealed the name of the surah
[27:38]is the people of the cave was hotel kept the cave so
[27:41]the answer was given about hobble keV the people of the cave
[27:47]and when it came to Musa and the island he replied also
[27:51]in the same surah and when it came about the king who
[27:57]ruled the East and the West well here is the reply that
[28:00]we will be discussing over the next shallow few nights weather regards
[28:04]to the soul that is in certain it's raw so if that
[28:10]was the third question then the response was you don't have enough
[28:14]knowledge to understand what the soul is either way we're not here
[28:17]to discuss about our that's a separate story altogether so why as
[28:21]Aluna can handle Canaan and they ask you about dhul-qarnayn literally it
[28:26]means the king or the man or the two horns okay we'll
[28:29]figure that later also at Lu alaikum Minho dakara say I will
[28:36]respond to you by reciting verses of the Quran Vikram I will
[28:44]recite verses of the Quran and responds to your question now interestingly
[28:49]the ayat beautifully says to us all say ya Rasulullah set Liu
[28:53]said a clue means I will I will this is a lesson
[28:58]for us the prophets of Allah Allahu Allah could have immediately answered
[29:03]them because Allah taught him but it's a lesson for us when
[29:06]people ask you a question don't immediately jump at the answer take
[29:14]few seconds to think reflect and then respond even if you know
[29:19]the answer even if you know then like the prophets already knew
[29:22]the answer he did not need time to wait but he said
[29:27]you know I will discuss with you about him I will tell
[29:29]you who he is and he started indeed it's a lesson for
[29:35]us whenever you're asked a question reflect think what is the best
[29:38]way to respond and then you go ahead and you respond now
[29:43]why was he called nain is that really his name well some
[29:49]commentators differ some of them say maybe his knee was local nein
[29:55]but apparently that was an adjective a description okay well why is
[29:59]he called the man with the two horns some of them claim
[30:03]that he wore a helmet and it had two horns maybe that's
[30:08]a reason well that's one answer the second reason some people say
[30:11]because he took the Horn of the East and the Horn of
[30:15]the West he ruled he ruled the world from east to west
[30:19]and that's why he was called Vulcan name the man with the
[30:27]two horns third reason among others they say he was a man
[30:34]who was a virtuous man he came to his people at his
[30:36]time and he started calling them inviting them to believe in Allah
[30:39]subhana WA Ta'ala so they hit him over his head which created
[30:46]a bump on his head when he kind of recovered a little
[30:50]bit from this bump he came back and again he started discussing
[30:55]with the people he didn't give up inviting them to believe in
[30:58]Allah and to God Almighty to follow their teachings of God and
[31:00]they hit him again on his head which created another bump these
[31:08]two bumps became known as the two horns quote-unquote hog named according
[31:15]to some of the commentators this was a reply given by Imam
[31:19]Ali Saddam la la and Imam Ali when he was asked about
[31:22]dhul-qarnayn why he was called the Coghlan he said because he had
[31:27]two bumps he was hit twice on his head was he kamila
[31:29]and there is amongst you a man who's like him referring to
[31:35]himself imam ali salam ala hele was also hit twice on his
[31:37]head once do you remember when in which battle conduct I sent
[31:44]him the Battle of the trenches by armed with no head he
[31:47]hit him once on his head and the second time is when
[31:51]no not how about whether he was not touched by board in
[31:55]messages Kufa when he was killed siddhappa muhuali that was the second
[32:01]time so that was the second time and hence imam ali saying
[32:08]refika myth there is a one right now amongst you a man
[32:10]living amongst you who's just like him he will also be hit
[32:14]twice on his head what he is calling you to believe in
[32:15]allah subhana wa ta'ala and believe in the message of allah subhanahu
[32:21]wa'ta'ala so that was his response so these are among the theories
[32:24]there are others but we'll leave it for that for now the
[32:26]Quran however did not mention why he was called the Canaan so
[32:30]in essence it's not really so important we should not concentrate so
[32:34]much time as to why was he called Kulkarni but that's their
[32:39]second question commentators asked as well maybe that's why he was called
[32:48]nain maybe he had a horn you know two horns a helmet
[32:50]with two horns maybe he ruled the Horn of the East the
[32:52]West that's another reason maybe he was hit twice on his head
[32:58]had a couple of bumps okay but who was he who was
[33:05]the country well to find out come back tomorrow Shahla tomorrow inshallah
[33:12]we'll discuss about some of the theories about who was the car
[33:18]nine so we can learn about this character even then even then
[33:23]these are all theories we'll start with that if Allah gives us
[33:30]tell fayek and then we'll jump into some very important thing about
[33:34]him Allah tells us about this man that Allah taught him the
[33:44]means of doing things the ways he showed him the way how
[33:47]to do things that's quite interesting that's what we would like to
[33:50]focus on insha'Allah tomorrow a lot of zest I'll feel but Imam
[33:56]Ali Salim ala ala the hero the man who is like the
[33:59]Canaan as he himself claims and says that what he committed and
[34:07]there's amongst you a man who is like Vulcan a who was
[34:10]beaten twice on his head when he invites people to the path
[34:15]of Islam he was also the hero of the Battle of better
[34:19]the Battle of badger was the first battle to take place in
[34:22]Islam the Muslims as long as they were in Mecca they were
[34:29]ordered not to engage in combat the environment the climate their numbers
[34:33]was not enough for them to defend themselves so they were beaten
[34:37]they were oppressed they were killed persecuted executed but they were patient
[34:44]until they emigrated to Medina when they came to Medina a verse
[34:51]was later revealed bismillah r-rahman r-rahim o Dina little Aveda you caught
[34:57]a luna be a Nahum bully when Allah Allah mostly him la
[35:00]pedir permission has been given to those who have been fought against
[35:04]that they have been oppressed and surely Allah subhana WA Ta'ala is
[35:09]capable of making them victorious that ayah is extremely important in surah
[35:15]al-hajj because what does the is a permission has been given to
[35:22]those who have been fought against not fighting what does that tell
[35:29]you why did the Muslims fight they were attacked they were attacked
[35:36]Muslims fought in defense and therefore all the prophets wars all of
[35:42]them we're in defense the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam ala
[35:48]muhammad never initiated war he was either attacked he had to defend
[36:02]or they had a treaty they had a treaty with a group
[36:07]of people and they violated the terms of the treaty for example
[36:09]in the year six after hijra the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa made
[36:14]the treaty with Koresh with Mecca the people of Mecca became known
[36:20]as the treaty of hudaibiya so they made the treaty and among
[36:25]the terms that they would not kill each other but sometime later
[36:31]- finds a group of Muslims by themselves unarmed attacks them kills
[36:37]them so now they've violated the terms of the treaty as a
[36:41]consequence the prophet sallallaahu one in the year 8 after hijra took
[36:49]an army and went over to mecca because they violated the terms
[36:52]of their treaty and they killed and attacked Muslims so the Prophet
[36:56]again in defense but even then look at the greatness of the
[37:02]Prophet Allah Mahadi he when he arrives at the gates of Mecca
[37:05]or the borders of Mecca those were the people who had fought
[37:10]against him for more than twenty years twenty years they fought against
[37:18]him they tried to kill him they killed some of his dearest
[37:21]companions they killed his uncle Hamza they killed his cousin obey their
[37:25]in the Battle of better it was killed in the Battle of
[37:30]Beddoe so they killed his dearest companion some of his relatives his
[37:34]uncle they fought against him now after more than twenty years the
[37:39]profit becomes victorious and he comes back the prophet sallallaahu while it
[37:44]brings an army of about ten thousand men he tells them at
[37:47]night I want each and every one of you people to raise
[37:53]fire back in those days they used to count the number of
[38:00]people fighters by counting the fires because out of every let's say
[38:04]ten people you need maybe one fire one torch give or take
[38:06]so if you have let's say a hundred torches they'll multiply that
[38:11]by ten give or take that's roughly speaking how they used to
[38:15]calculate well the prophet sallallaahu a live rat his army he said
[38:18]I want each and every one of you to light a torch
[38:23]so what happened is Koresh sent their spies to see can we
[38:29]face them can we fight them at night they go this you
[38:31]know speculate how many people are there and what do they see
[38:38]a sea of fire we multiply that by ten good lord we
[38:41]have a huge army there is no chance for us to stand
[38:46]against them what a genius tactic by the Prophet Allah Mahalo and
[38:51]what a peaceful tactic by the prophets on the money one of
[38:55]H then sends their men to the Prophet and say you know
[38:57]what we're laying down a repent weapons we're not fighting when I
[39:02]gotta get in G engage in war so the prophets of lollywood
[39:06]sends one of his companions by snail of sad sad Nevada so
[39:13]it goes to Mecca and he says today is the day of
[39:16]punishment today is the day of revenge we're gonna take you all
[39:21]guys as prisoners when the news reaches the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
[39:26]the prophet says what is this that's not right this is not
[39:29]true he says Imam Ali Ali you go you go and you
[39:34]fix the situation so he mom Ali Ali Salaam came and said
[39:38]today is the day of mercy day one when everyone will be
[39:41]protected any money does a very smart thing then he gives the
[39:43]banner to the son of south dice it says dice you take
[39:48]the banner now like father like son you know there's no difference
[39:50]but this is the slogan you use today is the day of
[39:56]mercy not the day of revenge and indeed the prophet sallallaahu and
[39:58]it comes to these people who have been fighting against him for
[40:02]more than twenty years and he looks at them with mercy and
[40:06]says what do you think I'm gonna do to you they said
[40:09]you're an honorable man son of an honorable man this is indeed
[40:12]so I set you all free show me an example in history
[40:19]of a conqueror who comes and takes his enemies under siege and
[40:28]they lay down their weapons and he lets them all walk away
[40:31]freely give me one example besides imam ali salam ala ali in
[40:41]the Battle of German longsword when people tell us that your religion
[40:45]is not about peace tell them in fact peace is the essence
[40:48]of our religion and that's what our prophet preached if the Prophet
[40:51]god forbid hypothetically speaking if he was if he were a blood
[40:54]you know thirsty individual he would have killed this entire nation all
[41:01]these people you guys have been fighting against me for 20 years
[41:04]you drove me out of my home city you took everything that
[41:06]I had 53 years of my life I spent in the city
[41:10]I was born here you guys took everything not only this you
[41:16]killed my uncle Hamza you mutilated his body what a such a
[41:19]you know savage way of killing my uncle you killed my cousin
[41:22]Oh BAE there you guys killed my dearest companions well it's revenge
[41:27]time now it's time for me to kill you if he were
[41:30]that kind of a person however to the contrary exact opposite a
[41:34]conqueror who usually comes with rage and anger he comes with love
[41:42]and mercy and he sets people his own enemies people like Abu
[41:46]Sufyan who fought against him people like hind' who mutilated the body
[41:50]of his own uncle she's standing right there in front of him
[41:53]and he lets them all go free you show me a better
[41:58]example of love of peace of mercy than this so this is
[42:08]the example the prophets wore were always in defense or because people
[42:11]violated the treaty and even then he showed them mercy he showed
[42:17]them love showed them peace but when he was attacked he defends
[42:21]in the Battle of better the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa as a
[42:26]consequence to Croatia seizing the wealth of the Muslims they took all
[42:31]the money of the Muslims their houses everything they let them you
[42:35]know they drove them one way from Mecca with only clothes on
[42:37]their bodies that's it they have nothing so the Prophet wanted to
[42:40]impose sanctions we see that today in the world happening you know
[42:45]sometimes one day when countries want to avoid military conflict combat they
[42:48]impose sanctions when we see that happening today in the world ok
[42:52]the prophet sallallaahu I wanted to do the same thing impose sanctions
[42:57]financial sanctions on Polish how there was a caravan that was coming
[43:02]led by Abu Sufyan this Caravan Hawaii had invested lots of its
[43:07]wealth into the Scarab and the Prophet sallallaahu Ali said if we
[43:12]seize this Caravan away from place since they've seized all our wealth
[43:16]as Muslims they take everything away from us and they're planning on
[43:20]attacking us so if we seize this then this will weaken them
[43:26]financially and it will avoid any military confrontation they come they try
[43:33]to take the caravan however Abu Sufian learns about it he was
[43:37]the head of the caravan from flesh he diverts his route and
[43:41]he makes it to Mecca safely he tells the people of Croatia
[43:44]guess what guys this was what I was about to happen our
[43:48]caravan your investments were about to be seized so Abu jahil got
[43:53]up and says we have to teach this prophet a lesson and
[43:55]each one who messes with Boesch have to be taught a lesson
[43:59]abu sufyan said you know what since we managed to get away
[44:03]let's just forget about it he says no they have to learn
[44:08]a lesson ok that's what you say they take a vote and
[44:10]they raise an army of 1,000 men well-equipped well-armed all horses and
[44:14]they come to attack the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ala they come
[44:18]all the way to the borders of Medina at a place of
[44:21]better those of you who have been to Hajj if you've been
[44:25]to Medina from there you go to a message it called message
[44:27]ara that's where you do your rom the area was just around
[44:33]there and until today they call it Abajo Ali the place the
[44:36]wells of Ali because Imam Ali Ali Salaam dug some wells there
[44:40]to bring water to fetch water to the army so until today
[44:43]it's called our bar Ali in that area so people have come
[44:47]to your border line if they're attacking your borders what do you
[44:51]do all you have to respond so the prophet sallallaahu while it
[44:53]provides an army of about three handsome Hamid wali mohammed rasoolallah mohammed
[44:59]100 they prepare an army of about three hundred thirteen people 313
[45:05]people whom it is narrated in the hadith the leaders and the
[45:11]commanders of the imams army alehissalaam our imam when he reappears will
[45:14]be the same number as the fighters of bed 313 these are
[45:19]the commanders may Allah make us among them if not at least
[45:21]may Allah make us among the soldiers it saw a lot of
[45:25]the army and the Companions of the Imam 313 poorly equipped they
[45:28]only had several swords amongst them only two three horses they were
[45:34]very poorly equipped outnumbered three times but they were united they had
[45:39]unity they loved the prophets of lollywood they listened to the prophet
[45:44]sallallaahu Ali they obeyed the prophet sallallaahu Holly so these 313 people
[45:52]and initially they had a one-on-one combat Imam Ali comes out hamza
[45:56]comes out and obey definite hard at the prophet's cousin comes out
[45:59]and say we are going to fight against people from Kadesh who
[46:05]wants to fight us more how we as uncle comes out maryam
[46:07]maybe Sophia hence brother hence father comes out Maura we as grandfather
[46:13]comes out and we're all yes brother comes out three oh yes
[46:21]I was a fianc son hands son her brother and her father
[46:24]come out Imam Ali engages one-on-one combat Hamza on one on Khan
[46:31]combat and obey the one on one combat imam ali defeats his
[46:36]enemy kills him he finds hamza struggling saddam on la la he
[46:39]helps him and they kill his opponent obey their his foot cut
[46:47]cut unfortunately he fell he collapsed imam ali went to his rescue
[46:51]and killed the third one as well so he killed Morales grandfather
[46:54]Malawi as brother and more awliyas who uncle and that is found
[47:01]in the letter one day he wrote two more how we have
[47:03]nabi Sophia and he says the sword with which I killed your
[47:05]grandfather and your uncle and your brother is still in my hands
[47:11]and it's ready to fight you as well if you engage in
[47:13]combat against us that's a natural balada so then the war erupted
[47:20]Muslims engaged in combat against their enemies and 70 of the mushrikeen
[47:26]were killed 35 of them by the sword of imam ali salam
[47:30]ala hele half of them were killed by imam ali salam ala
[47:35]hele and abu jahal was killed in that battle one of the
[47:38]heads of perish so karesh lost tremendously devastating loss and they left
[47:46]in a devastating loss specially hint who lost her father son and
[47:52]brother in one shot all by imam ali salawatullahi wa salamu alayh
[47:56]and this brought victory to muslims in the first battle they fought
[48:00]which happened on the 17th day of the holy month of ramadan
[48:06]so they were fasting yet they were strong because they had the
[48:10]willpower and my brothers and sisters if we want to be strong
[48:15]if we want to succeed we need to be united when the
[48:17]muslims were united they succeeded even though they were outnumbered when they
[48:23]loved their prophet and obeyed him they succeeded so we really need
[48:28]to be united through the love of our prophet and through the
[48:34]love of Ahlul Bayt yada hamas Salam that's what would really bring
[48:37]unity to us and strength to us and that's my message to
[48:39]you my brothers and sisters for their next couple weeks or so
[48:44]that we have left of the holy month of Ramadan truly pray
[48:48]to ah Spano dallas Arup my lord help me become a better
[48:53]follower of the Prophet if I have any deficiency in my character
[48:57]and my religion that would make me a better person if I
[49:06]completed help me overcome that deficiency our allah if i have some
[49:10]arrogance will help me combat this if I have any sin genus
[49:16]help me combat this make me a better person if I don't
