[2:20]B [Music] [Music] for the purification of the souls the enlightenment of

[2:46]the hearts for the hastening of the reappearance of Enlighten your souls

[2:54]in the atmosphere with the recitation of salawat upon Muhammed Muhammad [Music]

[3:04]my respected Elders my dear brothers and sisters in Islam it was

[3:16]a title given to by the prophet of God an epip that

[3:22]was beloved to him yet was a subject of misinformation and accusation

[3:32]by his enemies it is a title that has much to do

[3:38]with his life his legacy his teachings and applications for our lives

[3:44]today Abu was a epip and a title given to the commander

[3:51]of the faithful [Music] indeed the commander of the faithful was a

[4:06]man who's known by a number of titles many of us have

[4:13]memorized some of them for we are individuals who consider ourselves to

[4:18]be followers of and therefore we know for example he's referred to

[4:24]as or or or these and many more are considered to be

[4:39]ways in which was recognized in fact one author gathered the number

[4:48]of titles that Imam had and he came to the conclusion that

[4:53]he can accumulate 951 different titles for Amir and this is is

[5:02]not a surprise highlighting his superiority and Excellence above all the companions

[5:07]of the prophet of Islam yet Abu is something that stands out

[5:15]why because in Arabic there is a and there is a what's

[5:19]the difference in Arabic between these two the K in Arabic is

[5:27]a title given to an individual because of some of characteristics and

[5:32]or the K is when they are considered the father of something

[5:38]so for example you have Abu Talib or for example you have

[5:47]Abu abdah or for example you have Abu ja the father of

[5:50]this is what this is the the is what theab is associated

[5:57]with a quality of that individual something that they were known by

[6:05]for example for example Al for example these are was it a

[6:14]or was it a of because in Arabic it should be a

[6:18]because it's Abu yet did not have a son by the name

[6:23]of T he cannot be called Abu tab because of a son

[6:29]that he had by the name of T therefore Abu is a

[6:36]unique title because it combines a and together because it was given

[6:41]by the messenger of Allah it was beloved to because it was

[6:53]from and indeed the of is what Abul Hassan that is what

[7:01]he's known but Abu tab was exceptional and something unique the prophet

[7:06]of Islam came forward and gave certain individuals Al titles in order

[7:11]to highlight their Excellence for example he spoke about Hamza his uncle

[7:16]as the master of the martys this title was later given to

[7:24]abdah yes similarly you have for example AB is known as this

[7:29]is one of his is you have a man by the name

[7:33]of was known [Music] as means what the one whose body was

[7:40]Washed by the Angels how he married one night in the morning

[7:46]he went to fight in the battlefield he did not have time

[7:52]to wash his body yes and therefore when he was mared the

[7:55]prophet says I can see that the malaa are washing his body

[8:01]therefore he was known as the one whose body is being Washed

[8:07]by the Angels these titles were granted by the prophet of Islam

[8:11]enjoyed being called Abu Talib and we are asking the question why

[8:17]was he referred to as Abu Talib what is the incident by

[8:20]which he was given this name we are told that there was

[8:26]once a Expedition known as B this expedition was with the prophet

[8:35]andar Y and the prophet of Islam looked for he could not

[8:39]find him he found him asleep under a tree and next to

[8:47]him was when he came toir he saw that he was asleep

[8:49]and over his body was some dust soil yes and he removed

[8:55]the soil and said to him rise oh Father father of soil

[9:01]because when it comes to this particular narration we are told the

[9:05]prophet then spoke to him and said to him I can see

[9:11]that the man who is after the one who slaughtered the she

[9:15]camel of he will strike your head to the extent that your

[9:22]body and your face will be drenched with the blood from your

[9:25]head this was one incident in which the prophet of Islam would

[9:33]what would call upon as AB anything that gave to Al Talib

[9:38]he loved including a title it was something that he cherished excessively

[9:44]indeed question arises today what does Abu Talib refer to what does

[9:50]the meaning of Abu Talib in relation to the personality ofam some

[9:55]individuals like IB Abbas they have come with their own interpretation for

[10:00]example says what he says because the Earth belongs to him belongs

[10:13]to Who belongs to and he is the proof of Allah on

[10:20]it all after the holy prophet and through him the Earth remains

[10:29]after the holy prophet prophet and through it the Earth remains in

[10:35]Tranquility says he said I heard the messenger of God say when

[10:45]the day of judgment happens that the disbeliever sees what Allah has

[10:55]promised to the sh of Ali from reward I wish I was

[11:08]a follower of ab because we have an verse in the Quran

[11:13]this is in on the day that people will see what work

[11:19]they have offered what Deeds they have performed and the disbeliever say

[11:29]I wish I was soil I wish was dust one of the

[11:31]one of the inner meanings of this verse is that when the

[11:36]believer sees the status of the followers of the true followers he

[11:40]wishes to be of the followers of the father of soil Abu

[11:45]there is another understanding of this which is what which is in

[11:51]relation to the fact that when you speak about soil you speak

[11:55]about something which is basic something which is not complicated not luxurious

[12:01]in reference to the idea that was IM the father and the

[12:11]leader of the athetic individuals athetic means what his life was simple

[12:17]he did not necessarily enjoy the luxuries of life people would say

[12:22]that after the battle of K when he dislodged the Gate of

[12:27]K they bought him bread which was very hard he would use

[12:31]his knees to break the bread yes it was so dry such

[12:38]was the lifestyle of Amir that he would want to live the

[12:41]life of the poor and he himself would say in if I

[12:46]wanted to I could gain and attain and eat from what other

[12:50]people eat but I am concerned that there is a neighbor of

[12:55]mine who does not have the food that I have therefore I

[13:01]should remain and eat their food which is better and hence the

[13:04]commander of the Faithful is known as an individual who did not

[13:08]look at this life excessively and similarly one day he had a

[13:14]his outer garment it was stitched up so many times that the

[13:16]person who was doing it said to Imam he said I can't

[13:21]find any more space to stitch it up yes such was the

[13:24]lifestyle of the commander of the faithful then that's why the prophet

[13:27]called him Abu because why because he was a man of Simplicity

[13:33]as far as his relationship with this world is concerned that is

[13:38]another idea that is emerging a third idea is because of the

[13:45]humility of the commander of the faithful because he used to place

[13:49]his cheeks on the earth he used to love placing his cheeks

[13:54]on the earth in humbleness before Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we are

[13:59]told one one day one of his companions came and saw him

[14:03]in a state that he can only describe like a log yes

[14:08]he saw him crying and weeping in s until that stopped and

[14:15]he thought that has passed away because Amir was the lion of

[14:19]Allah in the battlefield but you will see him at night worshiping

[14:22]Allah and weeping in a way that would break your heart IM

[14:28]one day was seen by his son IM in s he's known

[14:33]as the one who has thick skin due to his prostration prolonged

[14:38]prostration who IM Z and his son would say twice a year

[14:44]he would remove the skin yes because it becomes callous like a

[14:48]thick skin one day imak says I said to my father I

[14:52]said masallah your is amazing my father said give me the book

[14:55]that details the worship of my grandfather Ali when I gave it

[15:00]to him he says what's My Worship compared to the worship of

[15:08]yes was a Man Who Loved to go into s and to

[15:13]Humble himself before Allah subhana wa tala he loved to place his

[15:18]cheeks on the ground and pray to his Lord the Almighty tab

[15:25]waala in this beautiful Manner and that's why some say that why

[15:32]he is referred to as Abu I tell you these and other

[15:35]qualities Are Not Unusual to speak about when it comes to our

[15:41]Imam yes our Imam who has developed this love in our hearts

[15:44]towards him his Excellence his legacy narration after narration tells us of

[15:51]his superiority and how he left this important impression in the minds

[15:58]of human kind until the day of judgment one narration says that

[16:04]the prophet of [Music] Islam which is narrated in a number of

[16:15]books it is said that the prophet said to him Ali if

[16:21]I wasn't afraid that people will do to you what Christians did

[16:25]to Jesus I would have said something about about you that would

[16:33]have caused people to take the soil under your feet Yes for

[16:40]Bara but I will say this it is sufficient that I am

[16:45]from you and you are from me that your sh on the

[16:57]day of judgment will be sitting on high Elevated Places of Illuminating

[17:02]Light they will be my neighbors in Paradise such description is found

[17:10]with regards to whom with regards to his what with regards to

[17:15]his legacy and his life but I ask you this title Abu

[17:20]did the enemies of Ali leave it without trying to distort it

[17:23]no because when you examine his illustrious life what you recognize you

[17:28]recognize the effort the concerted effort to tarnish his reputation to distort

[17:33]anything associated with him to fabricate to lie to deceive meaning that

[17:40]they would talk about being struck whilst he's in a Masid in

[17:47]sham and some people would say to the people did Ali actually

[17:54]pray we're surprised that he was marted or killed whilst in the

[17:57]state of prayer was Ali a person who performed prayers similarly there

[18:05]are distortions in history with regards to the verse all you who

[18:14]believe don't approach prayers and you are in the state of intoxication

[18:18]they say this was revealed when the prophet saw alali in the

[18:23]state of intoxication Abu Hur would be paid by muaah and others

[18:30]to fabricate these hadiths they say that one day the prophet of

[18:34]Islam came at his house and saw the Lady of Light Fatima

[18:39]peace be upon her angry he said to her why are you

[18:41]angry she would reply that my husband Ali is about to marry

[18:49]the daughter of Abu jahal the enemy of the prophet and the

[18:53]prophet leaves immediately to go and find and say to him oh

[18:56]Ali you cannot combine the daughter of Abu J and my daughter

[19:01]in the same household you cannot marry them can you see the

[19:06]infiltrations and the efforts of B spee especially mua and others to

[19:13]distort the reputation of Amir but we say yes today you see

[19:25]the shrine of and the number of visitors and his legacy as

[19:28]a testimony to his Brilliance and the fact that their plots are

[19:35]all in vain because Allah says they plan and Allah plans and

[19:38]Allah is the best of planners the question is what narration that

[19:44]is found Inari is amongst the many narrations that unfortunately depict the

[19:52]commander of the faithful in negative light why I say this please

[19:56]pay attention to this very important point one day in London I

[20:00]was waiting for my wife to give birth at the hospital and

[20:04]I was at the praying room in the hospital in London and

[20:09]I was performing Salah a brother from the other schools of thought

[20:12]that we respect from the other schools and we are The Advocates

[20:15]of Islamic Unity we have been calling for it for 1,400 years

[20:20]as many a times we've been stabbed when I looked at him

[20:23]he said to me brother who are you why are you praying

[20:27]different I said I am a she I follow the family of

[20:32]the prophet he said to me but I am a person who

[20:36]doesn't follow the family but I love the family I said very

[20:39]well that's very good he said I am better than you I

[20:43]said why he said I love the sahaba and I love the

[20:44]family you only love the family so you're only halfway there that's

[20:51]how mathematics works I said to him I have a proposal for

[20:54]you he said to me what is it I said to him

[20:58]this love of bait that you have it's uh not the love

[21:03]that we expect he said what do you mean I said to

[21:07]him how about in Salah you and I agree that in our

[21:09]prayers in t when we recite T instead of saying Allah we

[21:18]would say so we place the companions first then the do you

[21:27]agree he said to me me this is what we've been asking

[21:32]for for 14400 years I'm so happy that you've come to this

[21:35]conclusion let's come together and announce it in the world today on

[21:38]social media you and I all Muslims now in I said to

[21:51]him but are you happy with this he said to me no

[21:55]I said to him why he said because we can't change the

[21:58]state in Salah said what do you mean he said this is

[22:02]something we have to say in Salah I said what you have

[22:07]to say in Salah he said we have to say we cannot

[22:16]is why I place Ali Muhammad as number one so that my

[22:18]Salah is accepted by Allah subhana tala you see the love of

[22:30]of am is not only something I should claim to have on

[22:33]the tongue I should also look at my narrations to see how

[22:39]the image of Ali is being presented to the outside world today

[22:43]I have a bukari narration but in his sah which is where

[22:49]I'll give you the reference is in Volume 5 number 2316 it

[22:54]is mentioned that the prophet of Islam came one day to the

[23:02]house of when he came he said why you upset she said

[23:05]me and Ali had a fight me and Ali had some dispute

[23:10]and he he went out and the prophet left the house he

[23:16]went to the and he found asleep and he comes to him

[23:24]and says to him stand up Abu in order to reconcile between

[23:32]him and can you see how attempts are made to distort the

[23:37]reputation of IM Ali by narrating something which was which somehow they

[23:42]say it's a title given to the prophet to the by the

[23:49]prophet of Islam so through any form of Praise there is a

[23:52]dagger they're trying to say used to fight they trying to say

[23:58]that the these individuals used to dispute with each other how do

[24:05]we respond you and I must be individuals who are well equipped

[24:09]with the defense of Ali Muhammad who are understanding their status but

[24:14]at the same time are able to defend against misconceptions to be

[24:22]able to use Quran and Hadith to exonerate and to honor these

[24:28]holy individual and this is the role of the member it's the

[24:31]role of the madrasa but it's importantly the role of parents and

[24:38]the family unit in which way in the idea that you and

[24:40]I become people who are equipped with the necessary of the religion

[24:46]of Islam and especially T and which way Unfortunately today in this

[24:52]Modern Age of Technology very few people are setting time to study

[24:57]and read what do you mean today many people are on their

[25:02]phones many people are reading of their phones very few are picking

[25:07]up the book and saying I will invest in this book and

[25:09]I will improve my knowledge it is not about only bite size

[25:12]molana I will listen to 5 minutes on YouTube but I'm not

[25:17]bothered to read 10 pages that's all my concentration span is concerned

[25:21]yes I want to watch short clips I want to be given

[25:27]bite size information but the reality today is I need to have

[25:31]knowledge which is deeper to be able to understand my faith and

[25:34]apply it in the best possible way and that's why I remember

[25:40]one young man who applied the knowledge that he gained through reading

[25:45]texts very well in a Muslim country in the Gulf one day

[25:51]he was known in the class as one of the followers of

[25:53]Ali one of the Shia so they used to mock him they

[25:57]used to laugh at him they used to ridic him it was

[26:01]not a Shia country and therefore he was the minority he was

[26:04]patient he recognized that they may not have had the right image

[26:07]of the T but his teacher one day said to him I

[26:13]want you to stand at the front of the class and I

[26:17]want you to look after the class for the next few minutes

[26:19]because I need to leave to do something this is well known

[26:24]back home in countries they have these class monitor who's a student

[26:28]so so he stood when the teacher came back he said to

[26:31]him thank you very much you can sit back again they call

[26:35]him when he sat before he sat he said to him sir

[26:40]I have a question for you he said yes he said before

[26:42]you left the classroom you wanted to make sure that I am

[26:48]someone who looks after the class so that it doesn't become chaotic

[26:52]so that I control the class and everybody does what they're supposed

[26:56]to do true he said yes he said how do you expect

[27:00]rasool to leave this world without appointing a successor to make sure

[27:05]the Muslim umah is not chaotic the teacher became enraged how dare

[27:10]you teach me religion I teach you religion you don't teach me

[27:15]you're suspended you're out of school he sent him to the Head

[27:20]teacher the Headmaster looks at him and says what's your problem he

[27:23]said I said this he said tomorrow you bring your we Your

[27:25]Guardian the one who looks after you and we will issue this

[27:31]paper that you're out of the school the next day this young

[27:34]boy comes he knocks on the door of the head teacher the

[27:38]head teacher says come in did you bring your we your person

[27:43]in charge of you he says yes he says where is he

[27:44]he brings a friend of his with him he said I didn't

[27:49]tell you to bring a friend I told you to bring someone

[27:52]who is your Authority like your father mother I said W this

[27:56]young man smiled I said he said I thought the word means

[28:01]friend I thought means whomsoever I am a friend of you said

[28:10]to me bring a that means is someone who is in charge

[28:15]can you see the extent by which we can change the mentality

[28:21]of people through intellectual discourse and discussion hence when we come to

[28:27]this accusation about Abu what is the meaning of Abu they say

[28:31]in bukari that it was due to the prophet saying to Ali

[28:38]stand up to reconcile with fa we say we reject why number

[28:42]one peace and blessings be upon them categorically 100% in the agreement

[28:51]of all Muslims are included in 3333 part of the Ayah which

[28:59]says [Music] therefore that would immediately give us the conclusion that if

[29:15]Allah says Allah wishes to protect you from impurities from sins from

[29:23]any shortcomings and thoroughly cleanse you a thorough purification it means that

[29:27]say would not make each other angry would not displease each other

[29:35]if Allah subhana tala has honored them with the spiritual Grace that's

[29:39]number one number two the prophet of Islam says that the are

[29:48]one of the two weighty things that will never separate and if

[29:51]they are on par with the Quran that means they have the

[29:55]purity of the Quran that means their is the of the Quran

[29:59]the prophet says that means will have the etiquet and the morals

[30:03]of the Quran it would not be that when the Quran says

[30:08]respect your wife and respect your husband you come and accuse him

[30:14]of displeasing his wife in such a manner number two number three

[30:18]in his own words says by Allah in these words in the

[30:24]idea that I did not displease her I did not make her

[30:26]angry never did she disobey me this is in the words of

[30:32]the commander of the faithful yes and therefore we come to the

[30:35]conclusion that these narrations were placed why very important we know because

[30:42]there is an individual who displeased Fatima and Lady Fatima died displeased

[30:49]with him and a few others and because the Hadith in bukari

[30:58]says that prophet of Islam says whever displeases her displeases me and

[31:07]whomsoever pleases her pleases me they said very well we're not going

[31:11]to leave the fact that she died unhappy with a few individuals

[31:15]who assumed power after the prophet and took it away from we're

[31:18]going to also fabricate narrations to say that there are others that

[31:23]fa was angry with including her own husband so that they can

[31:26]make it okay so that they can make it it's something normal

[31:29]that is upset with people upset with certain individuals these are concerted

[31:36]efforts in history don't take it lightly these are individuals who have

[31:44]invested millions in regards to making sure that does not reach where

[31:48]it has reached today but no doubt you see that their efforts

[31:51]have gone into vain the question that we have to pose is

[31:57]now that we understand what Abu tab means and we reject the

[32:00]idea that there was any problems between him and his beloved wife

[32:05]we come to respond to this by saying if you examine the

[32:12]marital life of Abu Anda you recognize it was the exemplary one

[32:17]that you and I must look at for inspiration and must take

[32:24]as Role Models meaning what meaning that our understanding of the life

[32:30]of this holy individual with his holy wife is one that is

[32:35]infused with positivity an exemplary nature not negativity as the followers of

[32:41]a b we consider this household to be pure we consider this

[32:45]household to be exemplary in which way Allah waa in the Holy

[32:51]Quran in chapter 24ah says Allah is the Illuminating Light of the

[32:57]heavens and the Earth then the next verse says what this light

[33:04]of God is found in households in which he has permitted for

[33:08]it to be raised question which households do we find the light

[33:15]of Allah this light of Allah is not a physical light it's

[33:19]a light that brings about guidance it's light that brings about existence

[33:25]this light is found in certain house here we have in his

[33:38]he's a he narrates he says the prophet of Islam was asked

[33:46]by the sah which households are these he replies they are the

[33:52]households of prophets then the first khif says is the house of

[33:57]Ali and F of them that I can find the light of

[34:01]Allah that I can be illuminated that I can be guided the

[34:04]prophet says yes but the house of Ali and Fatima is amongst

[34:11]the greatest that you can find the light of God that's that

[34:16]you can be inspired and take as your what as your role

[34:23]model in your life therefore in this day and age where we

[34:26]have a complex number of problems facing our Muslim families we have

[34:30]a number of challenges affecting our brothers and sisters especially living in

[34:35]the west with regards to how they should deal with each other

[34:40]and as far as how they should keep a harmonious friendly strong

[34:45]family unit and set up there is a need for us to

[34:51]seek guidance from this blessed household the household of ab as well

[34:59]as because I tell you today we as Believers and as followers

[35:05]of the have sometimes chosen to take a path which is parttime

[35:09]in our conduct meaning what meaning that maybe we have taken religion

[35:15]to be a set of instructions which are supposed to be followed

[35:20]at certain times and left at other times maybe we have misunderstood

[35:26]the core of faith maybe we have abandoned the ethos of our

[35:34]religion maybe we have not delved further into what our faith wants

[35:37]us to do in our lives individually as a family as a

[35:40]community and that's why you find in certain examples in our lives

[35:45]we are not worried or concerned about what faith says about it

[35:49]let me give you examples in the some Western countries and I

[35:54]know for example in the United Kingdom and the United States as

[35:56]far as weddings are concerned it's a sensitive topic no doubt yes

[36:01]weddings are very delicate people want to be happy people want to

[36:07]be a joyful time yet they come forward and how do they

[36:10]celebrate sometimes you see M and M families which are religious they

[36:19]come at weddings mixed weddings music dancing events happening which are displeasing

[36:22]to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and when you say to them brother sister

[36:28]why you doing this they look at you and say please brother

[36:30]it's only one night why are you being so strong relax it's

[36:36]just one occasion let us be happy all the time M and

[36:42]crying one day let's you heard them say that yes Allah subhana

[36:46]wa ta'ala doesn't want a religion that is part-time I am a

[36:49]faithful individual that adhere to the teachings of the religion of Islam

[36:55]and a lover of the prophet and his when push comes to

[36:58]and it's a time of test for me that is when I

[37:02]prove my faith not whether I come to MOS or not it's

[37:07]a factor but when it comes to Shan telling me by the

[37:09]way take off your hijab that night it's okay let there be

[37:14]dancing between men and women or at least the bride and the

[37:16]groom in front of everyone who says this is allowed this is

[37:20]not permissible according to our it's Haram it is not permissible but

[37:25]in certain communities there is this is an established way yes they

[37:28]say well if I don't do it this way and I don't

[37:32]don't play certain music and they say this is a boring wedding

[37:34]I don't like to be referred to as someone who had a

[37:40]boring wedding yes the recognition therefore is that that is the moment

[37:43]of Examination for me that's the moment of whether I'm a truthful

[37:46]sh of one example another God forbid at times of divorce what

[37:53]happens you have somebody who promised his wife to be a loyal

[37:57]faithful individual or the wife promised her husband to be obedient now

[38:01]are separating and sometimes it happens but how do they treat each

[38:06]other after they've left this relationship sometimes the husband leaves his wife

[38:11]hanging he doesn't divorce her for a while why I want to

[38:13]punish her what happened to Iman what happened to your faith what

[38:19]happened to your love of alali no no no no no she

[38:23]hurt me I have to inflict this pain on her and then

[38:25]you look at sometimes the wives why are you're not letting your

[38:30]husband see your children why are you taking the children away why

[38:33]are you demanding x y and Zed for example at the time

[38:38]of divorce yes divorce happens but this doesn't mean you become Enemy

[38:41]Number One against each other this doesn't mean that you go in

[38:45]the society and spread rumors against each other it doesn't mean you

[38:48]start backbiting Each Other Well I remember one brother may Allah bless

[38:51]him he one day was about to divorce his wife someone came

[38:55]to him and says why are you divorcing your wife what's the

[38:57]reason he said she's still my wife I'm not going to say

[39:01]anything wrong about her after they were divorced you know some people
