[0:05]Alhamdulillah.
[0:46]Muhammad.
[0:48]Amen.
[0:49]Amen.
[1:17]for speech.
[2:11]We congratulate the and the and the um and the im of
[2:18]our time for on the auspicious birth of although we're experiencing some
[2:34]difficult and challenging times.
[2:39]If Allah gives us, we'll take a look at these verses from
[2:49]Isra 19 and 20 in the light of the life often the
[3:06]third year after Hijra and he was martyed.
[3:09]in the year 50 after h.
[3:16]So the imam only lived 47 years was not very old.
[3:21]And we will discuss inshallah two main points if Allah gives us.
[3:30]One the challenges that the imam faced against and the second is
[3:37]some of the lessons we learn from the imam that we can
[3:40]implement in our lives inshallah because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when he
[3:45]gives us such great personalities they are role models for us to
[3:51]follow.
[3:49]And when we will look at their lives, we find that their
[3:55]lives is very similar to our world today.
[3:58]It's just they lived at different times.
[4:00]But the people they were dealing with, the problems, the challenges are
[4:04]very similar to our challenges in this day and age.
[4:09]For example, you have Imass the grandson of the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[4:19]would carry him on his chest or on his back and he
[4:22]would say, "I love Hassan.
[4:26]Oh Allah, love those who love Al Hassan." He would pick up
[4:28]Al Hassan on one side, al Hussein on the other side, and
[4:34]he would say, "Ya Allah, these are my basil.
[4:37]These are, you know, I I love them.
[4:41]I love them.
[4:40]Then he would say, "These are my sons, my children, wadai.
[4:45]These are my descendants." So the Muslims experienced this for about seven
[4:52]years give or take approximately during the time of they would see
[4:58]the prophet sallallahu alaihi on a daily basis hugging Al Hassan, picking
[5:06]up Im Hussein.
[5:04]um expressing his love to them and telling the Muslims that these
[5:13]are not ordinary individuals.
[5:17]The prophet sallallah includes them in ayat.
[5:28]The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall includes them in ayat our children and
[5:38]your children.
[5:40]The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall and include them in the ayah of
[5:46]the vow another they fast with their father and their mother they
[5:55]fast with their parents and Allah subhana wa ta'ala includes them they
[6:02]fulfill the vow and then Allah includes as well We feed you
[6:11]purely for the sake of Allah.
[6:11]We don't expect a gratitude nor a recognition from you guys.
[6:17]They seek the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[6:19]The Muslims saw this saw how included them and this is something
[6:26]important by the way an important lesson is that for us to
[6:31]include our children in our activities as well in our religious activities.
[6:34]And you go to Omra, take your children with you.
[6:38]You go to Z, take your children with you.
[6:39]You come to the Hussein, the Imam, bring your children with you.
[6:44]Include them, involve them with you as much as you can so
[6:46]that you can educate them, teach them to the best of your
[6:51]ability.
[6:52]The Muslims experienced all this.
[6:53]They saw all this and then comes to a point where now
[6:58]I imtif of the Muslims.
[7:02]All right.
[7:03]So you'd expect that people after all that they had seen from
[7:08]all the all the about Hussein that people would follow them.
[7:16]One of the suggests that if we take a look at the
[7:20]that the prophet mentioned about the of Ali Hassin he says we
[7:33]would think for a second as if the prophet sallallah had nothing
[7:38]else to do.
[7:39]He did not have an ummah to lead.
[7:41]He did not have battles that he had to engage in.
[7:45]and and for example financial problems to solve and political problems to
[7:50]solve.
[7:48]It's as if he just sat down giving aith about the of
[7:53]that's how much hadith we have about the of the prophet sallallahu
[8:01]alaihi despite all this comes a time when people are putting on
[8:05]one side and I im on the other side and comparing the
[8:11]two.
[8:11]I mean there is nothing to compare between those two but that's
[8:18]unfortunately what happened in history.
[8:21]People looked at Muawi on one end and I imam on the
[8:24]other end.
[8:25]Okay.
[8:26]Now you think when they look at those it's not too difficult
[8:29]to make up the decision and you have im here and there
[8:37]you know is one of the of who has written a book
[8:39]one of the six books of hadith in the year 301 after
[8:50]hijra approximately he goes to sham he enters into sham Now again
[8:57]this is one of the famous of he has a he goes
[9:04]to and he finds people this is in the year 301 after
[9:09]brothers and sisters and just to give you context the Umaya dynasty
[9:13]officially collapsed in the year 132 after Hijra and 132 after Hijra
[9:18]the Abbasid officially killed the last Omayad ruler and so they officially
[9:23]declared Okay, that's in the year 13 what?
[9:33]Two after we're talking 301 302 after we're talking about 170 years
[9:40]later 170 years after the siege and he goes into Damascus and
[9:44]he hears people are saying they're putting down.
[9:52]So he gets shocked.
[9:56]He tells what is this?
[9:55]He then writes a book on the book is still there survived.
[10:07]Okay.
[10:08]So has written a book about the of im when he wrote
[10:11]this book so that he can educate the people of Sham.
[10:14]Who is Ali?
[10:14]Do you even understand who this man is?
[10:17]So he writes this book.
[10:21]The people then when they read this book they get shocked and
[10:25]they come to they say what is this?
[10:28]They said what?
[10:30]You've written a book about said yes what's the what's the matter?
[10:34]He's the gate to the knowledge of the gate to the city
[10:41]of knowledge.
[10:42]He is the har of MS.
[10:43]He's so and so and so and so.
[10:44]They said, "Well, in that case, you have to write a book
[10:50]about the Sufy." He looked at them.
[10:55]He paused for a second.
[11:02]He said, "No comes to my mind to other than the prophet
[11:08]sallallahu alaihi wasall saying to him, may Allah not fill his stomach
[11:14]up because one day the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall.
[11:18]He sent a messenger to call Muawia.
[11:21]Muawya was eating.
[11:23]So he tells the messenger go tell that I am eating." Okay.
[11:27]A little while later, the prophet sends the another messenger.
[11:33]Again, Muawia says, "Tell him I'm eating." And the prophet is calling
[11:38]you, but I'm busy.
[11:38]I'm eating.
[11:40]The third messenger tell him, "I'm eating." So Allah sallallahu alaihi wasall
[11:47]said, "May Allah never fill up his stomach." You know, I'm calling
[11:50]him three times and he's eating.
[11:51]It is said that's why Muawa never gets filled up.
[11:55]You know after this dawa he always ate and he would never
[11:58]fill he he would say my teeth my my muscles of my
[12:03]mouth get tired but my stomach is still hungry I'm still feeling
[12:07]hungry you know so nonetheless he says that's the only thing I
[12:13]know about from so they beat him up they ganged up against
[12:18]him and the followers of Im Ahmed Ib hal the halis Okay.
[12:25]They followed.
[12:24]Of course, Ahmed Muhammad was not alive at the time, but his
[12:27]followers.
[12:29]They gang up against him and they beat him up to the
[12:33]point where he becomes so ill and as a consequence he dies.
[12:38]And dies and then they would not allow him to be buried
[12:41]in sham.
[12:41]They said he would not be allowed to be buried in sham.
[12:44]This is the imam.
[12:44]I mean this is one of their imams, one of their leaders.
[12:48]Okay.
[12:49]But you see this is 170 years after the collapse of Bani.
[12:58]Now we're 170 years into the of Abbas and this is the
[13:01]atmosphere in Sham.
[13:03]So you can imagine at the time of imam when Mawi is
[13:08]alive what is the atmosphere like in Sham.
[13:11]So that gives you perspective here.
[13:14]But unfortunately people then started looking at things from a different perspective.
[13:19]You have Im Hassan here and Muawi there.
[13:24]But people unfortunately did not follow the grandson of as per the
[13:31]command of and the Quran that I don't ask you for a
[13:41]reward but to love my family.
[13:41]So the um neglected all this then started seizing that opportunity.
[13:46]He started seizing that opportunity.
[13:49]He started paying people and it is unfortunately these people who betray.
[13:57]They are the ones who cause a collapse.
[14:01]It's those who betray.
[14:04]And hence those people turned against Imass.
[14:09]some of his own people started turning against him because of the
[14:14]money, the bribes, because of the fear, because of the betrayal.
[14:21]And that unfortunately led to the point where I im had to
[14:28]sign that peace treaty with Muawi Abi Sufi.
[14:32]And then he left Kufa and went to Medina and lived there
[14:37]for 10 years approximately because his duration of the and what I'm
[14:43]talking about the of lasted about 6 months or so.
[14:47]Okay.
[14:47]But brothers and sisters after 10 years im during these 10 years
[14:56]played such an important role of one safekeeping the of most of
[15:02]the people whom killed of the sh was after or were after
[15:07]the killing of im.
[15:09]And when you hear about for example being killed those guys this
[15:18]happened most of them after the shahada of Imass for 10 years
[15:25]I im was standing in the face of but in a very
[15:31]subtle manner very subtle manner and in fact the first the first
[15:34]bond of treaty because when they agreed to do the treaty Muawia
[15:40]signed a blank piece of paper and sent it to imass.
[15:44]He said you you write whatever conditions you want.
[15:47]I'm agree blank.
[15:49]So the imam wrote the first condition the first condition is that
[15:57]the Muslims should be at security and peace from you.
[16:00]Under that condition a subcondition especially the of and under that condition
[16:11]another subcondition especially those who were too close to the of those
[16:17]have to be in security and peace you don't touch them you
[16:23]don't kill them you stay away from them and then the remaining
[16:26]of the conditions of the imam of the treaty So the imam
[16:34]maintained maintained those individuals stood in the face of Muawi try to
[16:40]explain to the rest of the people the what I did was
[16:47]in your favor needed to be exposed and this is something that
[16:52]will benefit Islam.
[16:52]Remember passed his knowledge onto Ali and that knowledge was passed on
[17:04]to Alt and I am after my father.
[17:11]So this is something for the best.
[17:14]However, brothers and sisters, Sufyan feared the existence of the Im.
[17:24]His existence was a threat to Muawi and hence through the betrayal
[17:27]he managed to kill Alass as we all are familiar with the
[17:33]story by conspiring with the wife of the Imam one of the
[17:36]wives of the Im to poison the immass.
[17:47]However, he did not kill the message of see our leaders may
[17:56]get killed.
[17:58]Our imams get killed.
[17:58]Not a single one of our imams died naturally.
[18:02]They all got either poisoned or killed.
[18:04]But their message remains alive.
[18:08]And the message of will remain alive until the day of judgment.
[18:16]This is the promise of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[18:19]A ayah 55.
[18:22]Allah has promised.
[18:34]Allah has promised those who believed and have done good deeds that
[18:42]he will make them inherit the earth.
[18:44]This is the promise of Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[18:50]The message of the h will not fail.
[18:53]Yes, it is painful for us to see the leaders go like
[18:58]im our great leaders and those who follow the path of yes
[19:05]it's not easy for us.
[19:09]It's painful.
[19:07]However, we know that this is the this is the path of
[19:20]death or being killed is something that is normal for us and
[19:28]our honor before Allah is martr.
[19:32]So that is something we experience.
[19:36]We experience throughout history and even the followers of about 800 years
[19:43]ago or 700 years ago he was killed in sham because of
[19:59]some conspiracy against him.
[20:00]He started to get popular.
[20:01]So they didn't like that and hence they conspired against him and
[20:05]they killed him and then they burned his body.
[20:08]They burned his body.
[20:10]This is the author who wrote while he was imprisoned they imprisoned
[20:16]him for about a week.
[20:17]In that one week he wrote a book called a book of
[20:24]until today it's taught in the until today that book is taught
[20:29]in the very famous book.
[20:30]He wrote it in this one week of his life, the last
[20:36]week where he compiled in a book.
[20:38]Okay?
[20:39]And then one of the came to visit him in the prison
[20:45]just few days before his martyrdom and he gave him the book.
[20:49]He says, "Here, take this." So he took it and that's how
[20:52]it was taken and brought out into light.
[20:54]Then about a century and a half later, a century and a
[21:01]half later, another from another one.
[21:07]He interpreted he gave an interpretation on the book of that interpretation
[21:17]is what is used today in theat.
[21:19]Today in the if you go to study they'll teach you written
[21:29]by interpreted and clarified by the second again conspiracy was turned against
[21:38]him and he was also killed.
[21:41]The second.
[21:39]So you see brothers and sisters this being killed is something that
[21:50]is now become a trend for us a norm for the of
[21:52]the while it is painful as I mentioned but we know that
[22:01]the truth will prevail.
[22:02]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when he talks about the he says Allah
[22:11]uses past tense.
[22:13]He does not use the present tense or the future tense.
[22:18]He says say the truth has come.
[22:23]Falsehood has been defeated.
[22:30]Falsehood will always be defeated.
[22:34]That is the truth will prevail.
[22:39]The truth will ultimately prevail.
[22:40]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the Quran says they want to extinguish
[22:48]the of Allah but Allah refuses but to establish his his light
[22:53]the truth the h and indeed look at dunya brothers and sisters
[22:58]today who are we remembering tonight who im do you hear anyone
[23:08]in the world I haven't heard maybe there is but I have
[23:09]not heard of anyone remembering the birth of Muawi or the death
[23:15]of Muawi.
[23:16]I don't know.
[23:15]Have you ever heard anything who really has prevailed?
[23:20]One of the Syrian poets by the name of Muhammad Majub about
[23:26]100 years ago give or take.
[23:28]He was invited to Iraq to come on a poetry summit.
[23:32]You know they had a convention for poets and so he he
[23:37]came from Syria.
[23:37]when he came he participated in that summit in the convention and
[23:41]then they told him let's take you around in a tour around
[23:46]the country so they went and then they stopped by he finds
[23:50]a huge shrine very nice looking he said what is this they
[23:53]tell him this is the shrine of hajib he's got this big
[24:02]shrine and so many people come for the z people in and
[24:07]out in and out.
[24:06]He says, "You know what?
[24:10]I'm curious.
[24:08]I know Muawi was in Sham.
[24:12]So when I go back to Sham, I want to see where
[24:15]is the of you." So he says, "I went back to Sham."
[24:20]How many of you guys have been to have you seen of
[24:23]I've seen the of you get the opportunity one day to go
[24:29]see the of Mawi in a place called Alab.
[24:32]Anyways over there you go see of Muhammad Majub said I decided
[24:38]to go back I see where where is Muawi you know.
[24:42]So he says I went there and I look this this is
[24:44]the ma you know it's trash you know and no one is
[24:52]around.
[24:53]So he started reciting poetry.
[24:54]He recited poet the poetry is still there in Arabic.
[24:58]He tells Muawi he started speaking to Muawi.
[25:01]He says, he says, Abu Yazid, where are where are these palaces
[25:15]of yours and these horses of yours?
[25:19]You know what?
[25:18]What happened?
[25:20]You know, and what's going on here?
[25:23]I wish you would wake up from your sleep now and look
[25:28]at your grave and you see how the flies are running all
[25:31]around it.
[25:31]You know, and then when you're doing that, turn your eyes towards
[25:41]Naj and look at that beautiful shrine of Ali whom you used
[25:44]to fight with him over this dunya there that shrine that grave
[25:52]from the number of people who come to visit him.
[25:54]It is as if if it was if it were not for
[25:57]the fear of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[26:00]It is as if these he's being woripped.
[26:03]That's how much people love him.
[26:07]That's how much but they fear Allah.
[26:08]They go to visit him.
[26:09]They go to visit him.
[26:12]They visit he says if it weren't for the fear of Allah
[26:34]subhana wa ta'ala look at how many people are visiting this shrine.
[26:41]So who won in who became the prevalent one?
[26:47]Ali the path of Ali.
[26:48]Ali was killed but his path remained.
[26:50]Al Hassan was killed but his path remained.
[26:56]Al Hussein what happened to him in Kbalah and to what happened
[27:00]to his companions and his family members but his path remained and
[27:04]so on so forth.
[27:07]And our imam inshallah will return and he will establish this earth
[27:10]with justice the way it is being filled with tyranny and oppression.
[27:15]But it's a matter of us being patient inshallah and putting in
[27:19]the effort so that we can inshallah be among his and his
[27:24]companions.
[27:32]So what are some of the things that we can do here?
[27:38]Few points brothers and sisters that I have put in the acronym
[27:44]shape.
[27:42]Let's try to get in shape.
[27:45]In shape.
[27:46]I know a lot of people want to get in shape.
[27:48]Especially New Year's resolution.
[27:49]They say I want to get in shape.
[27:51]This is a different shape.
[27:56]Huh?
[27:53]Okay.
[27:54]Few things we can do.
[27:57]The first thing brothers and sisters if we take a look at
[28:02]the life of Alass the S in shape is selflessness.
[28:07]Alm Hass was the Khalifa of the Muslims.
[28:12]He sat there.
[28:14]But when it came time for the benefit of the um it
[28:20]was not about who sits on the chair.
[28:22]It was not about the chair.
[28:24]Who cares?
[28:24]It's about establishing the truth, establishing the H.
[28:29]He could have sat there and sent an army of people to
[28:33]defend and they get killed for example, one after the other, but
[28:38]he didn't want to do that.
[28:39]He wanted to protect the ummah, to save the ummah.
[28:44]So this act of selflessness, this is important because today in today's
[28:48]world, it's almost the exact opposite.
[28:51]Most people pick up these devices and they take what?
[28:56]>> Selfies.
[28:58]You know, it's all about selfie.
[29:04]About me, you know.
[29:04]How many likes do I get?
[29:05]How many followers do I get?
[29:09]How much do people talk about me?
[29:13]How much how many times my name is mentioned?
[29:14]How many times my name is written all over the place?
[29:19]It's all about me, us, whatever.
[29:21]Let's be selfless.
[29:23]It's not about me.
[29:25]It's about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the pleasure of Allah.
[29:29]One of the in mesh from about 100 years ago.
[29:36]This he had people who used to follow him.
[29:41]He had a good relationship with a businessman, a wealthy businessman who
[29:48]was God conscious.
[29:50]He used to fear Allah.
[29:50]This businessman, this would call on the businessman and he would give
[29:57]him money on a monthly basis.
[29:59]He say, "Here's money.
[29:59]Take this money and go to so and so and so and
[30:03]so and so and so.
[30:03]They're poor people.
[30:06]Distribute the money to them, but don't tell them I sent you."
[30:10]Okay?
[30:10]you don't say anything and I don't give you permission to mention
[30:14]my name.
[30:16]So this businessman would take the money and he would go to
[30:18]these people knocking on their doors and they would take the money.
[30:25]Some of them sometimes would say may Allah bless you because he's
[30:29]a wealthy businessman.
[30:29]Where do they think that they think the money is coming from?
[30:34]From him from this businessman.
[30:37]So say Allah bless you.
[30:41]And some of them would say you know this so and so
[30:46]he knows we are in need we are needy he knows he
[30:48]does not help us but at least you are Allah sending you
[30:53]to help us.
[30:55]So this businessman you know sometimes his blood would boil you know
[30:58]and then but but he can't say anything because the told him
[31:01]I don't give you permission to mention my name.
[31:04]So he goes back to the he says molana you know this
[31:08]is what those people are saying you know it makes my blood
[31:11]boil the money is coming from you and they're not recognizing you
[31:15]so let me tell them he says no you don't tell them
[31:19]says why not says first of all we are doing this for
[31:26]the pleasure of who Allah subhana wa ta'ala Allah knows I don't
[31:29]need those people to know they don't need to That's one.
[31:37]Second, this money is not consistent.
[31:41]The amount of money I get, it depends on the you know
[31:46]people give, sometimes they give, sometimes they don't give.
[31:50]So if I start telling people for example person X, he starts
[31:54]getting used to receiving for example every month 100 pounds from me.
[31:59]If at one month I don't have enough and I need to
[32:04]give him only 50 pounds, how do you think he's going to
[32:10]react get more angry, you know?
[32:11]So, might as well keep them this way.
[32:13]So, they don't have expectations that this money is coming from this
[32:17]and I expect this much money now.
[32:19]Sometimes I have more, sometimes I have less.
[32:23]Depends on how much we get.
[32:24]Okay.
[32:24]So, this way we don't they don't need to know.
[32:29]And until this alim died, people did not know.
[32:32]After his death, this businessman started going and telling people that people
[32:36]this is what used to happen.
[32:39]This he was the one who was sending you the money.
[32:40]So you see selflessness.
[32:43]Let's establish this.
[32:46]This is important.
[32:46]Second, brothers and sisters, another attribute of Imassam is humility, humbleness.
[32:54]One day he was riding his horse after he left after he
[33:01]left and took over he started showing the of Islam and he
[33:09]started riding horses lived in a comfortable place wearing some good clothes.
[33:14]Maybe one of the reasons is to explain to people you left
[33:18]us for because of if you had stayed with us you would
[33:25]have g and we also have but we have theal the halal
[33:32]as the ayah says that we started with Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[33:40]says whomever wants We would give him of what we will.
[33:49]He may not get everything he wants, but we will we'll give
[33:57]him.
[33:55]And then what happens?
[34:02]Then we would prepare for him that he will be humiliated in
[34:08]it.
[34:09]both physically humiliated and psychologically humiliated in because not just a physical
[34:20]torment.
[34:18]It is also psychological torment.
[34:22]A person would look at his palaces get burnt right in front
[34:25]of his eyes.
[34:27]His money that he used to treasure and not give it to
[34:29]the poor for example and the needy would be used to burn
[34:33]him with it.
[34:32]So it's a psychological torment as well.
[34:36]May Allah protect us inshallah from jah.
[34:38]So Allah says whomever wants we would give it to him rush.
[34:47]We would rush it to him of what we will of whomever
[34:50]we want and then we would make jahannam prepare it for him
[34:56]that he would be humiliated in it.
[34:57]on the other side wants and puts in the effort.
[35:10]One, he has he wants the second he has to work towards
[35:16]it.
[35:16]Three, he has to be what?
[35:20]Allah says those Allah is grateful is grateful to their actions.
[35:28]So humility brothers and sisters is something important.
[35:34]Im Hassan started to show the of Islam after he left the
[35:38]worldly when he came back to Medina to show the people that
[35:41]we have and we have one day he was riding the horse.
[35:48]He saw a group of people poor sitting down eating some dry
[35:51]bread.
[35:52]They looked at the imam, they say, "Can you please join us?"
[35:55]He gets off his horse, sits down with them on the ground
[36:00]and eats with them.
[36:00]And then after he finished, he told them, "I accepted your invitation.
[36:06]So now I make an invitation for you to join me, please.
[36:11]And I wish for you to accept my invitation." He takes them
[36:18]to his house and he feeds them properly.
[36:19]Humility, a very important attribute.
[36:22]Again, in this day and age, it's about what car I drive,
[36:28]how big my house is, how big is my bank account, how
[36:34]much I have.
[36:33]If these things were of value, then Muawa would have been of
[36:39]some value.
[36:39]If these things had value, then Harashid would have been of value.
[36:45]But if they are used for the as a bridge and as
[36:49]a means, that's when they're good.
[36:50]So someone will ask and does it mean we should not be
[36:55]having big homes and nice cars?
[36:56]No, that's not the case.
[36:57]Have them.
[36:58]But make sure you own the house.
[36:59]It does not own you.
[37:02]You own the car.
[37:02]It does not own you.
[37:05]You own your bank account.
[37:06]It does not own you.
[37:07]That's how use it as a bridge for humility is very important.
[37:13]No matter how big one becomes, he should be humble, down to
[37:17]earth.
[37:17]One of the ways we can attain this, brothers and sisters, is
[37:21]going to thean go to thean on a regular basis, not just
[37:27]to recite fat, but to stand there and look at these graves.
[37:29]You know, brothers and sisters, just about two, three weeks ago, we
[37:33]had a snowstorm where I came from in Canada.
[37:36]There was like a lot of snow that was, you know, that
[37:41]came to the city.
[37:42]So interestingly when we went to thean we went to the cemetery
[37:48]there was so much snow that you know the signs they put
[37:52]on the you know like this is the of so and so
[37:55]so these signs were buried under snow you know you looked at
[38:00]them and subhan allah you can't tell the graves anymore everything is
[38:02]white just white one big white thing you don't you can't get
[38:07]to the if you have someone who's buried there you can't get
[38:11]there anymore or you they haven't shuffled the snow yet.
[38:15]Okay.
[38:16]So your would be from the outside sitting there just reading you
[38:21]know and then you would go for example that's it and then
[38:25]I was thinking subhan Allah these people are not only buried under
[38:28]the ground they are now buried under the snow as well and
[38:32]you can't even get to their anymore now you can't even tell
[38:35]whose kabar is whose anymore and they said subhan allah is this
[38:41]dy is this what we fight over is this what we really
[38:43]get angry over this dunya.
[38:46]At the end of the day, this is what we're going to
[38:47]get.
[38:48]But that's the reality of it, brothers and sisters.
[38:51]That is the reality of it.
[38:53]Staying humble is very important.
[38:55]About 10 years ago, brothers and sisters, I lost my mother and
[39:00]I went and I prayed salat over her body.
[39:02]Just over three years ago, I lost my older brotherh.
[39:06]And I also went and prayed salat over his body.
[39:11]Just last week, I lost my father.
[39:12]I also went and prayed over his body.
[39:14]And as I'm standing there, I'm saying, "Subhan Allah, here here is
[39:18]dunya.
[39:19]Your loved ones go one after the other.
[39:21]One after the other.
[39:21]Your loved ones are going to be leaving this dunya." That's the
[39:24]reality of it.
[39:26]That's the reality of it.
[39:27]Then are we ready when we go?
[39:31]So all this arrogance, where is it going to get us?
[39:35]I am so and so.
[39:37]I need to sit in this place.
[39:38]I need to go to that place.
[39:39]I need to have people respecting me, mentioning my name and then
[39:45]what they will say this and and they will bury him and
[39:51]it's over.
[39:49]The only thing we will carry with us is our so humility
[39:56]is so important.
[39:59]That's the H in shape.
[39:59]A is for my dear brothers and sisters.
[40:04]Make sure you're always kind to people.
[40:07]Be kind to the others.
[40:08]Go to the people here at the mosque for example.
[40:12]Go to the mosque here.
[40:14]When you see people working, say well done.
[40:19]Thank you.
[40:21]Those who prepare the chai, those who prepare the things, clean up,
[40:25]go.
[40:26]Thank you very much.
[40:27]You know this kind of words.
[40:31]It's it's really nice.
[40:31]It's it's nice.
[40:33]We we appreciate them because us as human beings, we are mostly
[40:37]out there to complain.
[40:38]If something doesn't go right, we immediately complain.
[40:41]Oh, the food was not cooked well today.
[40:44]Oh, the chai got laid today.
[40:45]Oh, this got laid.
[40:47]Oh, this what?
[40:47]So, we're quick to complain.
[40:48]But how often do we go and praise and we say, "Thank
[40:52]you very much.
[40:54]You guys did an awesome job.
[40:55]Let's try to do this, brothers and sisters." And my dear brothers
[40:59]and sisters, just as a humble suggestion, serve in the Hussein to
[41:05]the best of your ability, go serve.
[41:06]One of the one day I saw him, I was leaving the
[41:10]Hussein, the maj to do something.
[41:12]What he does, he goes, you know, all the shoes out there,
[41:18]he goes and puts them all in order without anyone knowing.
[41:20]People go out and they find their shoes are all lined up.
[41:24]Everything is organized.
[41:26]Who's doing it?
[41:25]They don't know.
[41:27]Somebody is doing it.
[41:28]This M is doing he he's serving in this capacity.
[41:32]Some go serve tea.
[41:36]Some clean.
[41:38]Brothers and sisters, you must have heard some of the people who
[41:41]serve in the holy shrines of some of them are wealthy businessmen.
[41:45]Some of them are professors in universities.
[41:48]one of one professor from Algeria, one professor from Algeria, he says,
[41:55]"I was invited for a conference in Iran.
[42:00]So then they took me to the shrine of who?" Ali Musamu
[42:05]Ali Muhammad.
[42:07]He says, "I needed to use the washroom." So they took me
[42:11]to the washroom.
[42:13]In the washroom, there was someone cleaning the washroom.
[42:14]Someone cleaning the washrooms.
[42:18]As I entered, he saw that I looked different a little bit.
[42:22]So he spoke to me in good English.
[42:25]He he speaks really good English.
[42:26]So I was like, "Oh, this guy who's cleaning the washroom is
[42:29]speaking good English, you know." So I told him, "How do you
[42:35]speak English?" He told me, "I'm a professor at the university here.
[42:38]I teach so and so and I studied in the West." He
[42:43]got his PhD somewhere in the west and he came back and
[42:46]now he's a professor.
[42:48]He says, "You're a professor?" He says, "Yes, I'm a professor of
[42:51]this subject.
[42:52]For example, I teach this, this." And he started talking to me
[42:55]about his research.
[42:56]And I thought, so you're cleaning the washroom.
[42:58]You're a professor and you're cleaning a washroom.
[43:02]He says, "What are you talking about?" He says, "You know, I
[43:05]had to wait for 6 months.
[43:10]Six months so that they would accept me.
[43:13]accept me as someone who would clean.
[43:15]I I was waiting for this opportunity and I was being denied.
[43:18]I was not worthy of it until alhamdulillah after praying to Allah
[43:23]Allah gave me that they chose me as a servant of Imam
[43:31]I clean washrooms yes with with all honor.
[43:32]says, "I was shocked." This Algerian professor, he said, "I was shocked.
[43:36]These are the people." But this is how it is, brothers and
[43:40]sisters.
[43:41]This is how you discipline yourself.
[43:42]It's a good way to discipline.
[43:44]So, the is so important.
[43:48]The last two points, where are we at now?
[43:51]Do you remember the acronym?
[43:52]>> You forgot it already.
[43:56]What letter are we at?
[43:57]>> P.
[43:58]Good.
[43:59]Mashallah, you're with me.
[43:59]Good.
[43:59]You guys are in shape.
[44:04]Mashallah.
[44:01]Muhammad Muhammadu Muhammad.
[44:08]The P is for piety.
[44:12]Piety.
[44:15]We come to the Husinia.
[44:19]It's good.
[44:20]We do the it's good.
[44:20]But we need to carry the spirit of these with us.
[44:26]God consciousness.
[44:27]God consciousness.
[44:33]A man who was alim comes to visit another alim.
[44:42]The alam whom he is visiting is more popular, more well-known and
[44:50]more knowledgeable than the one who is a visitor.
[44:54]They get into a discussion.
[44:58]The discussion heats up a little bit.
[44:59]They get into some discussion.
[45:03]The discussion heats up.
[45:04]This alam who is visiting who is less knowledgeable less knowledgeable and
[45:09]less known than the alam who he is visiting.
[45:13]So the one who is visiting the visitor the visitor is less
[45:17]knowledgeable and less known than the one whom he is visiting.
[45:23]Okay.
[45:24]Than the host.
[45:25]So this person the visitor he uses some word that it may
[45:33]not have been appropriate against the host the alam whom he's visiting.
[45:38]So obviously people are sitting down there they they get shocked you
[45:44]know some of them follow this he's their he's well known how
[45:50]could this person be saying this to him but then to their
[45:53]shock they see that this host this alim apologizes to the visitor
[46:01]who insulted him and then he bends down and kisses his hand
[46:07]and Then they hug each other and this person goes.
[46:10]So the people were shocked.
[46:12]They're like, you know, they're telling the host again, the host is
[46:19]more knowledgeable and more popular.
[46:20]They're asking him why did you do this?
[46:24]He insulted you.
[46:26]You apologize to him and then you bend down and kiss his
[46:29]hands.
[46:32]Why?
[46:31]He says when he insulted me, my nephs told me insult him
[46:40]back.
[46:41]But I thought for a second and I said, "No, that's not
[46:47]the right thing to do.
[46:47]And I don't want my naps, my evil commanding self to be
[46:52]in charge.
[46:54]I want to be in charge." So I told my evil commanding
[46:56]self, listen, I am going to apologize to him.
[47:02]At that point, my evil commanding self told me, "No, no, no,
[47:07]no.
[47:08]Don't apologize." Okay, that's fine.
[47:10]That's fine.
[47:09]Just don't insult him, but don't apologize.
[47:11]He says, "No, not only am I going to apologize, I'm going
[47:17]to bend down and kiss his hand.
[47:18]So next time you learn to stay out of my business, I
[47:22]am the one in charge, not you.
[47:26]Now all this happens within a matter of seconds.
[47:30]I'm I'm speaking it right now, but as it happened, it's all
[47:36]happening in seconds.
[47:36]So he says I wanted to teach myself a lesson and hence
[47:42]I apologized and I kissed his hand and look we hugged each
[47:49]other and he left end of the story.
[47:51]How many of us would have done that?
[47:56]Now you see why those become those alams.
[48:00]Now this was he no but he disciplined himself God consciousness.
[48:10]This is what we need to establish within ourselves that Allah is
[48:17]watching me.
[48:18]So let me watch every word I say.
[48:21]Will he be pleased with it or not?
[48:24]Everything I do.
[48:23]We need to train.
[48:26]One good way to train ourselves brothers and sisters is try to
[48:30]pray and one of the nights inshallah over the next 10 days
[48:35]or so we'll talk about a little bit more but try to
[48:39]pray this 11 two two eight with the ofat and then two
[48:46]and then one yes in the of there are some duas to
[48:56]be recited but you can just say so if each takes one
[49:01]minute that's 11 minutes these days in the month of Ramadan you
[49:04]many of you wake up for and then there is this period
[49:09]you know this period before when you're recommended not to eat and
[49:12]drink that period is about 10 minutes so if you go do
[49:18]your woo and come and pray 10 minutes about 11 minutes you'll
[49:25]be done a good way to start this habit this habit of
[49:28]praying because to wake up in the middle of the night requires
[49:31]a lot of self-discipline so it's good if I start from there
[49:37]I can start disciplining myself slowly especially we are in the month
[49:41]of Ramadan inshallah the month of rah so that then becomes a
[49:44]habit for me the e my dear brothers and sisters for shape
[49:47]is effort we need to start putting in effort Allah says in
[49:54]the Quran the ayah I recited from Isra ay 19 whomever wants
[50:00]the and he puts in the effort for it I can't just
[50:06]say you know I want Jenna and I just sit like there
[50:11]and doing nothing put in the effort look at our ims how
[50:13]much effort they put in look at our how much effort they
[50:19]are putting in until this day and age how much sacrifices they
[50:22]are giving living but so that this religion remains.
[50:26]So we need to put in this effort.
[50:29]The effort is by helping each other being together supporting one another.
[50:35]If there is a mmin in need, make sure that they don't,
[50:40]you know, they don't sleep hungry in this holy month of Ramadan.
[50:43]Help them.
[50:44]Even here in London, you'll be surprised there are people in London
[50:47]who don't havear, you know, they don't have much money forar.
[50:51]They just eat with dates, break their fasts with dates.
[50:54]Well, if we have some, if we know such people, let's help
[50:57]them out so that inshallah Allah subhana wa ta'ala would love us
[51:02]and would be pleased with us, my dear brothers and sisters.
[51:04]So this shape, if we can try to put in these efforts
[51:11]again very briefly, the S is for selflessness.
[51:13]The H was for what?
[51:17]Humility.
[51:18]Be humble.
[51:18]Be humble.
[51:20]Three, the A forl have the best ofl always commend people, be
[51:29]nice to people, be empathetic towards people.
[51:31]The P for piety and the E is for effort.
[51:38]We need to put in the effort so that inshallah Allah will
[51:41]accept from us.
[51:43]And we pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala on this holy night
[51:46]the night of the 15th of the month of Ramadan the night
[51:54]of the of the night of his and we are in his
[52:00]majus that Allah subhana wa ta'ala aliate all the difficulties away from
[52:04]the and the all over the world and may Allah subhana wa
[52:07]ta'ala bring peace and harmony to the m and to the people
[52:12]in the world and may Allah subhana wa tala fulfill the of
[52:18]all and cure all those and who are ill and experiencing some
[52:21]health problems and may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us and our
[52:26]children until the day of judgment among the sincere of granting us
[52:33]inshallah their in this soon and their inab and in the raise
[52:40]your hands in the dua brothers and sisters may Allah subhana wa
[52:45]ta'ala accept our duas, fulfill our many have requested us to remember
[52:48]them in our dua and we all have haj.
[52:52]Let's read this ayah together and pray together.
[53:05]may Allah 10 times together.
[53:44]Ya Allah.
[53:43]Ya Allah.
[53:45]Ya Allah.
[53:47]Ya Allah.
[53:49]Ya Allah.
[53:47]Ya Allah.
[53:49]Ya Allah.
[53:50]Ya Allah.
[53:52]Ya Allah.
[53:51]Ya Allah.
[54:00]Ya Allah.
[54:05]Ya Allah.
[54:07]Allah.
[54:22]Yes, sir.
[54:41]forn.
[54:58]for illallah.
[55:38]Y is Ask for your inshallah that'll be fulfilled on this night
[56:07]through the often.
[56:27]for forchech.
[57:44]Alhamdulillah.
