[0:00][Music] foreign brothers and sisters before we start because i see many
[1:30]are coming started to come and there are some chairs are left
[1:32]in the front therefore to make room for those who will come
[1:37]later on i would like to name the holy name of the
[1:43]imam everybody stand up after salawat of course and move to the
[1:46]front chair so we leave the back chairs for those who come
[1:53]later on rahim allah yes sisters there are plenty of chairs here
[2:01]in the front fill them up you too also brothers please fill
[2:05]those chairs to the front so we leave the you know the
[2:11]back church for those who come later sallallahu one of the major
[2:31]challenges that the world community faces is the drug abuse and the
[2:40]addiction albeit with varying degrees some countries suffer a lot and some
[2:45]countries and some regions suffer less nonetheless this is a universal issue
[2:52]every country worldwide have this problem the problem of drug addictions and
[3:01]drug substance abuse far transcends the individuals themselves it affects their families
[3:09]their communities their national resources the business in general and everything that
[3:19]is associated with them somehow directly or indirectly get affected here in
[3:25]the in the united states based on a survey in 2002 meaning
[3:31]20 years ago it shows that the economic loss the economic and
[3:35]financial losses of substance abuse only in 2002 were 181 billion dollars
[3:45]that much loss has caused due to substance abuse and drug addictions
[3:53]of course here we're not talking about the human toll here are
[3:58]some numbers i would like to share with you it says that
[4:01]in the drug abuse responsible for 750 000 deaths per year out
[4:14]of those 550 almost 550 are 550 000 due to premature death
[4:21]either infanticide you know those newborns have not even born and they
[4:28]die still birth or at young ages 15 20 30 40 years
[4:36]those people die at a premature age this is 550 and about
[4:44]170 175 000 people die from overdoses of drugs of course this
[4:54]is statistics does not talk about those victims who die through the
[5:02]cartel and transportation and in the you know the crimes and the
[5:08]gangs that transport these materials those substance from countries of continent to
[5:14]continent and meanwhile they get cat they get caught and many of
[5:19]them you know get killed they're gone so this is only the
[5:26]financial loss and the human toll that has happened it says that
[5:30]one percent of world's population about 80 million 90 million somehow have
[5:38]been affected by substance abuse either they are addicted to drugs who
[5:46]turn to narcotics and alike this is a worldwide problem it is
[5:53]not only you know for example pertaining to the us or to
[5:56]europe or to our own countries back in middle east it's a
[5:59]worldwide uh problem now with statistics bear out the fact that there
[6:08]is a strong correlation strong relationship between drug addictions and crimes crime
[6:18]and drug addiction go hand in hand together in three possibilities first
[6:26]use related crime because the person is under heavy influence of the
[6:34]drug or alcohol it commits a crime he commits a crime or
[6:38]she commits a crime this is one way it's called use related
[6:42]crime because they have ingested or administered drugs and they are subconscious
[6:49]unconscious not to their full mental power therefore they commit a crime
[6:56]this is one way the other one is financial related crimes because
[7:03]the person lacks money and he needs to go and buy drugs
[7:07]alcohol he cannot afford it he doesn't have it therefore he commit
[7:14]himself or herself to another crime either burger burglary robbery sometimes armed
[7:21]robberies and so forth in order to fulfill his desires and the
[7:27]third kind of a dr crime that i just narrated is system
[7:33]related crime which pertains to the transportation the drug cartel those you
[7:41]know criminals who involve in mafia and gangs in order to pass
[7:45]these drugs these substances from country to country and sell it of
[7:51]course when you look at them those big oligarch or the drug
[7:57]cartel they never take it they are not you know addictive to
[8:03]it that they are very good at selling to the poor people
[8:07]now again i want to share with you some other statistics but
[8:12]when we talk about addiction we don't mean only drug addiction it
[8:19]is substance addiction as well as behavioral addiction you have drugs alcohol
[8:27]cigarette tobacco hookah these are all substance addiction and we have behavioral
[8:37]addiction gambling you know gambling is one of the biggest source of
[8:44]you know addiction for people people become addicted to gambling sex porn
[8:50]technology we are so obsessed with our our iphones and whatsapps and
[9:00]so forth people become addicted to technology so anything any substance or
[9:07]any behavior anything that we show carving toward we car for it
[9:12]with so much obsessiveness and compulsive behavior and lack of awareness and
[9:21]concern for the consequences if you tell the person you're going to
[9:24]get caught he says hell i don't care any substance and any
[9:31]behavior that fits into this category meaning that i become obsessive and
[9:36]compulsive and pursued for that thing at any means and i streamline
[9:43]all my efforts and my energy to reach it without thinking of
[9:48]the consequences this is called addiction so there are numerous agents of
[9:58]addictions and each one of them by itself is terrible some people
[10:02]get panicked of the for example if they still stay away from
[10:06]the internet or from their iphones this is an addiction we should
[10:11]admit that brothers and sisters we should acknowledge the fact that this
[10:17]is not a good behavior this is a syndrome that needs to
[10:21]be treated for example let me give you some numbers for alcohol
[10:24]related crimes here it says that alcohol accounts for 40 percent of
[10:33]the crimes those are crimes that happen and end up in jails
[10:38]and prisons 40 percent of them are related to alcohol abuse here
[10:44]are some numbers again 37 percent of those offenders who ended up
[10:52]in jail in a prison they report that they were under the
[10:56]influence of alcohol when they had been arrested meaning in the crime
[11:04]scene 37 percent of those offenders were intoxicated they have been under
[11:09]the influence of alcohol it says that alcohol found in association with
[11:17]a big array of violent crimes assaults murder rape spousal abuse child
[11:25]abuse any kind of abuse the first factor the first agent is
[11:32]alcohol alcohol abuse and it says that 50 of the homicides first
[11:40]50 percent of the murders that takes place that take place is
[11:47]somehow related to alcohol abuse whether the victim or the offender one
[11:53]of them or both of them were under the influence [Music] so
[12:07]show that those people were under the influence of alcohol that you
[12:16]know crime happened a growing body of evidence and third research shows
[12:23]that addiction number one plays a major role in our health detrimental
[12:29]to our behavior a destructive behavior second to the structure of brain
[12:37]that i will subsequently will talk about and of course it causes
[12:42]financial loss loss of a freedom and safety of the community end
[12:49]up in jail many people end up killed murdered and of course
[12:55]our health we lose our health on all those fronts this is
[13:03]what drug alcohol and any addictive behavior again i repeat and i
[13:09]want to emphasize on that any addictive behavior will end up in
[13:13]these three categories i remember back in 1993 i was college student
[13:19]one of our classmates was gone missing for a while maybe one
[13:25]or two weeks when he returned and we had no idea where
[13:32]he was of course first in front of everybody he claimed that
[13:34]he was on a travel but then you know he approached me
[13:40]and told me do you know why i wasn't you know in
[13:41]the class i said no he said because my brother is a
[13:44]co is a drug dealer and he was fugitive and he has
[13:51]committed a crime against another member a member of another gang so
[13:55]they were searching for him and my life was endangered because i
[13:58]associate myself with him so i was in hiding for two weeks
[14:03]until he was left or he was arrested probably then i felt
[14:08]safe to came out again so these are some of the problems
[14:13]that you know we face with the drug addiction again let me
[14:19]repeat this so everybody can hear financial problem you lose your own
[14:22]money the hard earned money that you fight for and you struggle
[14:28]for and you earn it whether through your job or through stipend
[14:32]or through scholarship or your father pays you lose that your health
[14:38]which is more important than the money you lose it and of
[14:44]course the freedom the freedom and the safety of the society is
[14:51]jeopardized now the question why people become addicted for what reason they
[14:56]use these drugs or these addictive behavior there are a few answers
[15:03]first one it tells you first of all addiction can hit any
[15:12]group can hunt any person it is not only the young but
[15:16]unfortunately the teens the young adults are the majority of the victims
[15:20]of the drug use the the drug abuse because of their influence
[15:27]in the you know market economy and workforce you see when a
[15:35]teenager a young adult in his early age get caught in a
[15:43]prison in fact he ruined his future no more a future will
[15:46]you end up in the prison when you end up in jail
[15:48]what the future is waiting for you you know nobody is gonna
[15:54]allow you to go to college no one is gonna give you
[15:57]you know a job after one no one is gonna give you
[16:00]a spouse wife or so so you will end up you know
[16:04]having nothing you know just to to break the silence and and
[16:09]the ice there is a a joke they say a man a
[16:15]young man went for a proposal to propose for a young woman
[16:20]and of course his mom was with him and they went to
[16:27]their home to propose and this guy was chewing gum of course
[16:33]in our islamic arabic tradition it is bad you know when a
[16:38]groom-to-be person goes to the family of the bride-to-be and chewing gum
[16:43]it looks very indecent and ugly so the father of the bride
[16:50]told him you're chewing gum he said yes alhamdulillah because i quit
[16:53]smoking.
[16:55]he said you were smoking he said yes because i was drug
[17:05]addict so i quit drug and i started smoking he said you
[17:08]were a drug addict he said yes because in jail everybody you
[17:13]know uses drug he said you were in jail he said yes
[17:18]because i murdered somebody you killed someone yes why did you kill
[17:26]someone so because i went to propose for a daughter and he
[17:29]refused so i killed him so although it seems funny but believe
[17:38]me brothers and sisters in this competitive world today it is very
[17:43]difficult with a minor tiny offense that you make you can get
[17:49]away with it your credit to score you know your home loan
[17:52]it's miserable you know you're gonna make your life miserable so the
[17:58]reason that people they say the reason that people become addicts number
[18:05]one is to feel cool when you tell a youngest why do
[18:10]you you know smoke hookah why why do you gamble why you're
[18:17]on drug addiction what comes to their mind pleasure we want to
[18:23]feel good we want to have fun but not knowingly that this
[18:27]fund is going to get them into trouble so the first answer
[18:33]that they give is they have fun the second is due to
[18:40]peer pressure when i see my classmate is a smoking marijuana and
[18:46]my neighbor is smoking marijuana and my cousin is smoking marijuana so
[18:53]i might as well smoke marijuana why because i see everybody is
[18:58]doing it and everybody is okay with it this abusive behavior this
[19:05]obscene behavior has become normal you see brothers and sisters one of
[19:11]the reasons that islam you know forbid and emphasize on not to
[19:15]make sins it's not for the sake of the sin itself islam
[19:21]thinks of the entire community when someone makes a sin in front
[19:26]of everybody that will allow others to do the same thing therefore
[19:30]that sin becomes normal islam wants to stop it from the beginning
[19:36]peer pressure plays a major role in a drug addiction and drug
[19:43]abuse in any sort of addiction so this is the second reason
[19:49]people become addicted and third one they use it as a coping
[19:56]strategy to release stress and a pressure maybe at school maybe at
[20:03]home maybe in the market maybe they have lost somebody loved one
[20:08]they have you know a family that is disintegrated divorced in a
[20:17]family they may have lost someone in the family because they feel
[20:20]the pressure the stress therefore they go toward you know addiction now
[20:28]here's the problem when someone has a weak open strategy doesn't know
[20:32]what to do in time of suffering is disoriented and there is
[20:39]no guidance there is no elder to show him the road to
[20:43]coach him to teach him this person doesn't develop strong coping strategies
[20:49]when you couple that with the drug abuse the addiction becomes inevitable
[20:58]definitely you know they become addicted in addition to that the brain
[21:07]chemistry brain chemistry also plays a major role some people do that
[21:14]behavior or that substance for once and then they leave it and
[21:18]they never come back to it but there are people who are
[21:23]hunted by that behavior or by that drug and become over time
[21:26]they become addicted why because of brain chemistry poor coping strategy lack
[21:32]of guidance and awareness will end up in addiction i will talk
[21:39]about it after your big and loud you see what happens the
[21:49]mechanism of addiction what does it happen this happens in the brain
[21:53]this part of the brain is called the frontal lobe brain subhanallah
[21:59]this is the way that the almighty has designed a human and
[22:05]living things all together is it through a reward system in the
[22:09]brain reward system is essential for our essential activities life essential activities
[22:19]like eating sexual relationship social interaction these are vitals to the survival
[22:27]to the survival of a human being the brain is coached in
[22:36]this way that it has a reward system whenever we feel hungry
[22:40]the brain sends a message that reach out to food go eat
[22:46]when you eat food you feel good you've been rewarded so in
[22:54]a healthy person this reward system helps help us to continue our
[23:02]life activities in a very healthy manner when i am hungry i
[23:06]reach food i eat food once i am fed up it is
[23:12]stops it sends a message to the brain tells them khalas stop
[23:19]it in other words it makes the eating process a pleasurable we
[23:24]enjoy eating especially enjoying a far after 16 and 17 hours of
[23:30]fasting around 8 30 p.m everybody's sitting around the table and they
[23:35]eat happily you see smiles jokes wonderful words and so forth why
[23:41]because it's a pleasurable experience and memorable experience this is not only
[23:50]psychological it's also physiological because the brain send message to the body
[23:54]that you need to eat but a healthy person once he's fed
[24:00]the brain sends a message stop of course there are people who
[24:08]will munch and crunch and munch and crunch we're not talking about
[24:12]them we're talking about the healthy people once you feel fed up
[24:15]you stop now what does addiction do addiction hijack this system and
[24:24]instead of going for the essential activities as i said like the
[24:31]food it directs this reward system toward the drugs feeling for the
[24:40]drugs mainstreaming everything and streamlining everything in ex instead of going for
[24:45]example to healthy food we direct our attention and our preoccupation toward
[24:53]drugs let me let me give you can i give you a
[24:54]little details about the physiology or no with your big and loud
[25:00]salawat i will do otherwise i will not the brain consists of
[25:10]billions of nerve cells are called neurons these neurons talk to each
[25:19]other through chemical message this chemical message is called a neurotransmitter so
[25:26]one neuron which is almost getting close to the another neuron there
[25:31]is a cavity there is a gap between those two which is
[25:37]called synaptic lift in the synaptic cliff a chemical message takes a
[25:44]place sending the message from this neuron to this neuron this neurotransmitter
[25:49]of course for everything there is a specific neuron neurotransmitter but for
[25:55]the reward system there is a neurotransmitter is called dopamine or dopamine
[26:00]depending on how you pronounce it this the cells will release this
[26:10]dopamine that occupies this area the synaptic lift between the neurons and
[26:16]tell them that hey go for food eat enjoy your time the
[26:21]time of a pleasure starts as you eat you enjoy yourself people
[26:27]who smoke again this dopamine causes them to enjoy themselves when i'm
[26:34]anxiously waiting for a whatsapp message and all of a sudden i
[26:38]see the light went up the dopamine tells me okay it's time
[26:41]for a pleasure enjoy it after the event is done my stomach
[26:49]is filled again that's the message is gone to this transmitter neurotransmitter
[26:54]it's all been carried away sequestered taken back to their original place
[27:02]therefore you stop eating the drugs once the neurotransmitter is released stop
[27:09]it from getting back therefore causing euphoria you know this enjoyment and
[27:16]pleasure long stay longer and longer but as it stays longer and
[27:24]longer our body sensitivity becomes less and less so today if i
[27:28]take one gram of a drug tomorrow i need two grams and
[27:32]after tomorrow i need three grams and so forth until i become
[27:40]overdose and eventually i end up where in the cemetery death this
[27:44]is that they talk about 166 thousands of all deaths of overuse
[27:51]is because of this when they are talking about 585 000 people
[27:57]who are dead prematurely because of this because they don't pay attention
[28:03]that the more a drug they take the worse off they become
[28:08]they will never get out of this trouble they always will be
[28:13]you know into this problem they are not released from this problem
[28:28]how can we tell a person is addicted or not we the
[28:35]family members the community members the relatives have responsibility moral responsibility toward
[28:43]those individuals those individuals you know they're gone you cannot they cannot
[28:49]behave well it is our duty to save them so number one
[28:55]we need to see an indication because the drug addict or addict
[29:02]of any behavior first of all they are in denial when you
[29:06]tell them that you are addicted they say no not addicted you
[29:10]tell them your lung has suffered because of the hookah that you're
[29:14]smoking every day because of the cigarette that you three packs per
[29:21]day this is killing you look at your lung they say no
[29:23]i am coughing not because of my lung because i have ulcer
[29:28]they always you know blame other things blame others for their own
[29:33]you know misfortune so they don't admit it number one they are
[29:39]in denial anyone that you see is in denial should alarm you
[29:43]second out of control they have obsessive behavior compulsive behavior not only
[29:53]that they streamline all streamline all their activities all their money their
[29:59]wealth they sell their belongings in order to suffice their desire and
[30:04]their need so this is number two when they when you see
[30:12]them in denial obsessive and compulsive pursuit of that thing and second
[30:17]when you see that they have a poor outcome if he is
[30:23]student in college and you see that their grades went down last
[30:26]year they were a student they were on the president's honor list
[30:31]this semester their degrees are c's and d's and b's what does
[30:37]that tell you that their performance have weakened they could be employees
[30:43]their productivity have been weakened their social relationship their connection with other
[30:49]with others have been relating you know have been reduced if you
[30:52]have a member in your community in your gathering you used to
[30:57]gather every week let's say and you had somebody who's active with
[31:00]you and all of us and then disappears that should be alarming
[31:03]so when they start to act poorly a poor result that it's
[31:13]again it means that there is a problem with their you know
[31:17]with their behavior therefore you know that there is an addiction so
[31:20]those are the you know three things or two things denial poor
[31:28]result and obsessive and compulsive behavior that should tell you that the
[31:33]person is addicted now as i said the damage that has happened
[31:38]to the body and to the brain beyond repair maybe they stop
[31:43]maybe a smoker quits the smoking but after two years or three
[31:50]years he will end up having lung cancer the drug abuser maybe
[31:55]stops but after two or three years they find that you know
[31:59]he has a tumor in the brain studies have shown that the
[32:04]brain structure malfunctions and then there is a difference between a healthy
[32:09]structure and between a structure a brain structure that have been you
[32:16]know abused by addiction and by a drug this has been studied
[32:18]this has been a clear to everyone this frontal lobe that i
[32:24]was talking about affects judgment affect learning affect memory you see when
[32:34]islam combats alcohol and combats drugs for a very good reason because
[32:39]human are what let's define a human humans 99 of our activity
[32:49]is animalistic we eat the rest of animals eat we drink the
[32:53]rest of animal you know drink we have physical pleasure they also
[32:58]have the only thing is through thinking i am different from the
[33:05]rest of the animal kingdom is because i am thinking i have
[33:08]a will and i have a thought now when these are gone
[33:13]what's the difference between myself and the rest of the members of
[33:20]the animal kingdom we're all the same so that's why you see
[33:26]islam emphasize on those you know important aspect to stop to treat
[33:30]stop and combat this kind of behavior and this kind of substance
[33:34]what are the remedies we talked about the impact the mechanism and
[33:39]in the last segments how should we cure those in the last
[33:45]you know minutes that are remaining well the first one is medical
[33:55]medical treatment rehabilitation it is everywhere and i am not a medical
[34:04]doctor therefore we're not gonna you know dwell into the medical aspect
[34:08]of it there is none medical treatment as well of course this
[34:12]is approach dependent each society each community each nation they have their
[34:19]own method but all scholars and scientists tell you the first thing
[34:22]talk with the victim especially those at a younger age people who
[34:30]have not tried it yet they are suffering from depression they are
[34:36]suffering from isolation they are suffering from not having parents who look
[34:44]after them they are in the wilderness the wilderness doesn't mean that
[34:50]in the desert meaning at home and in school but no supervision
[34:53]no guidance no support the first thing you can do is to
[34:59]talk to the victim the more you talk to them the more
[35:03]you bring them in the more they feel assimilated with the rest
[35:07]of the community the less they become a prone toward you know
[35:12]drugs toward addiction so the first thing is talking dialogue open a
[35:20]day a lot my duty as a father on the dinner table
[35:23]on lunch table is that i open the discussion with my children
[35:28]with my son with my daughter what did you do today what's
[35:32]your future plan do you have any trouble is anything bothering you
[35:38]as a duty we should find out everyone should find out if
[35:44]you're an elder brother you should have this conversation with your youngest
[35:48]servers these are the common sense thing that you know we should
[35:54]emphasize on then of course there are communities websites that have dedicated
[36:03]themselves toward helping those people who are addicted to certain behavior or
[36:10]certain drug to get out of it there is a famous website
[36:12]is called no fap no fap this is a secular website they
[36:21]claim that we are secular we're not affiliated with any religion but
[36:26]we are trying to help the porn victims the porn addicted victims
[36:30]whoever wants to get out of it please visit us we will
[36:37]teach them through guidance through education through self-discipline we will manage to
[36:46]succeed and get this person out of his misery of course they
[36:53]don't believe or they don't talk about the religious aspect of it
[36:56]and they say our method the self-discipline the teaching is much better
[37:03]than the government regulations and religious regulations so that's again another method
[37:09]for treatment and control and lastly the religious method you see brothers
[37:17]and sisters again surveys and statistics have shown those who are religious
[37:24]those who have claimed that they are religious they are less prone
[37:30]to drug addiction to alcohol addiction to sex addiction to usury to
[37:34]to um gambling and to all kind of addictive behavior this is
[37:40]one beauty of religion religion whether good or bad at least it
[37:44]shows discipline it teaches discipline so the religious community is considered more
[37:52]protective more immune toward this behavior than non-religious community now whatever we
[38:03]had said about the discipline about education about a training talking to
[38:08]people are excellent but this is only one hand brothers and sisters
[38:12]you need to have the other hand you know we say that
[38:17]one hand cannot a clap but when you have two they can
[38:21]work together no matter how strong is this hand how talented you
[38:24]are one hand is not sufficient in a country that have absolute
[38:30]freedom the website are all open to those obscene website the internet
[38:35]is open to these obscene websites marijuana is legalized arms are available
[38:44]people once they reach 18 nobody can tell them where did you
[38:50]go with whom did you spend your time what time you come
[38:52]back home nothing out of control in a society that is you
[38:58]know marked with capitalism with expenditure expenditure just spend and spend and
[39:05]spend of course you cannot combat such kind of behavior and such
[39:09]kind of you know substance you need first of all to outlaw
[39:14]them from the beginning remember the ayah that i recited at the
[39:18]beginning allah subhanahu wa ta'ala talks about of course means intoxicating agent
[39:22]doesn't have to be wine any intoxicating agent you see islam in
[39:40]pursuit of two tears on two tracks to those beginners at the
[39:46]beginning until you stop there is no room for experimentation you cannot
[39:55]feel cool you should not feel good about it no pleasure stop
[40:02]it stop it immediately and from its root not only you do
[40:06]not smoke don't even get close to the smoking shop not only
[40:11]take a cooker although okay it's not haram you know and let's
[40:15]let's let's be uh you know here uh informal and formal hookah
[40:20]is not harambe addictive so anything that is haram and addictive islam
[40:25]tell you from beginning do not approach it in islam the prophet
[40:33]peace be upon him let me recite this hadith for you it
[40:37]says rasulullah who are those the prophet says god will curses the
[40:51]intoxicating agent the wine someone who drinks it someone who pours you
[40:58]know the bartenders you know the bartender this is number three the
[41:05]one who sell it someone who buy it someone who go and
[41:13]collect those grapes too you know to squeeze it and make it
[41:15]juice and the recipient from the delivery also if you deliver it
[41:24]you know allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is cursing you the person who
[41:31]is at home is waiting for the beer to be you know
[41:35]arriving at his home there are people who tell you i don't
[41:40]drink it i don't even get near to it but what can
[41:43]i do i have the am pm shop and they have to
[41:46]sell you know we have to sell looker islam says no you
[41:51]cannot sell alcohol you cannot sell those intoxicating agents these with this
[41:58]money that you're buying you are buying the hellfire this much rasulullah
[42:03]emphasize on that so going back to my words so any means
[42:09]should be eliminated do not approach any road that will get you
[42:13]into that sin you see in the holy quran is very concise
[42:20]it says doesn't say do not commit adultery it says do not
[42:27]approach adultery meaning from step number one don't get yourself into that
[42:34]dangerous road why because when you take the first step and then
[42:38]second step and third step you became you know close to the
[42:42]brink of the cliff somebody is so close to the brink of
[42:47]the cliff you cannot tell him oh be careful you're going to
[42:50]fall out no he's going to fall down no question therefore islam
[42:55]stops it from the very beginning do not take this road anything
[43:00]that gets you to addiction drug addiction or alcohol addiction anything that
[43:07]gets you to adultery anything that gets you to gambling do not
[43:11]think of it why because it's uncontrollable you cannot control yourself the
[43:19]minute you start all of a sudden you see that you have
[43:22]been you know locked down cannot cannot get out of it anymore
[43:27]so this is the first year second look at how allah subhanahu
[43:34]wa ta'ala prosecred alcohol in stages you see at first stage first
[43:41]of all arabs used to drink intoxicating wines in in a supreme
[43:48]manner everybody rampant everywhere so some muslims saw the effect of this
[43:56]on their you know on their spirituality on their physical bodies they
[43:59]asked the prophet salaam alaikum he asked the prophet about alcohol the
[44:06]ayah came it says there are good things and there are bad
[44:20]things but the bad things are more than the good things therefore
[44:25]it is advised to stop many muslims stopped drinking then one day
[44:33]an imam of jamaa who was leading the prayers while he was
[44:41]intoxicated he recited the surah in the holy quran in the prayers
[44:44]mistakenly well this is a tantamount to blasphemy when you do not
[44:50]recite the surah consciously by mistake this is considered to be blasphemy
[44:57]so they went to the prophets and the prophet said wait until
[45:02]allah gives me the order the ayah came as long as you
[45:12]are under the influence of alcohol stop it you cannot therefore many
[45:18]people stopped drinking or postponed their drinking after salat elisha you know
[45:24]for the late night parties and late shows they would a drink
[45:29]until one day in a party two tribes one a tribesman who
[45:38]was a poet he started to cross corn and you know bash
[45:44]the other tribe the other tribes attacked him and there there was
[45:49]a commotion then a fight between them and then few people got
[45:52]killed so they went to the prophet peace be upon him with
[45:56]the message allah gave him in that said this is stage wise
[46:08]could have forbidden you know this intoxicating agent from the beginning but
[46:14]gave it and stage wise why because he knows the human nature
[46:19]someone who is addicted you cannot take it away right away from
[46:25]him rather this rehabilitation this gradual healing is essential plays a role
[46:31]in fixing this person my take home message brothers and sisters here
[46:38]that we live in this state you see certain communities are afflicted
[46:44]with addiction african american communities the native american communities you know the
[46:51]indian community the indian american indian communities when you go to the
[46:55]their reservation camps you see they are afflicted with this why don't
[47:02]you sing don't you think that there is an agenda toward them
[47:05]this type of community needs to be always addicted we should be
[47:13]aware brothers and sisters here again i am repeating myself we are
[47:15]a minority in this country there are always agendas of course they
[47:22]don't come in the daylight and tell us that we want to
[47:28]hurt you how do they hurt us through our sons and our
[47:34]daughters through gradual addiction to this everybody should stay alert and be
[47:40]careful my son is your son your son is my son we
[47:44]are living in one as a one family in this country we
[47:49]should be very aware and alert anything that happens to a member
[47:54]of the community community and affect that person as if has affected
[47:59]the entire community foreign [Music] you
