[0:17]i begin in the name of the almighty god the compassionate the
[0:24]merciful the one who has created everything and utmost perfection and may
[0:29]the peace and blessings of the almighty god be upon his pure
[0:33]and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of humanity
[0:39]the holy prophet muhammad and his immaculate progeny of the bait peace
[0:51]be upon them especially the leader of our time the awaited savior
[1:01]may allah hasten his reappearance and make us all amongst his sincere
[1:09]and dedicated servants respected brothers and sisters and indeed we have honored
[1:28]the children of adam we have honored the human being illuminate your
[1:37]hearts and minds with a very loud sarawat muhammad one of the
[1:48]most beautiful aspects of the month of ramadan is that it truly
[1:54]makes us more humane and it allows us to see the humanity
[2:00]in other people one of the biggest challenges that we human beings
[2:07]have is to see others as human beings not objects if you
[2:13]analyze our lives you find that we view our surroundings as objects
[2:19]i view human beings as objects how can i benefit from these
[2:28]objects how can i use this person is this person useful for
[2:31]me or not useful for me can i use this person as
[2:37]a bridge to achieve my own success or no we constantly view
[2:41]others around us as objects as tools how can i take advantage
[2:48]of them many times we may not be conscious of this there
[2:51]are some people when you tell them that you view others from
[2:57]this lens you look at others as if they are tools they'll
[3:00]deny it no that's not how i am many times we don't
[3:06]even sense it because we get so used to it and we
[3:10]don't view only strangers this way we view our loved ones this
[3:17]way as well it's not that i just see strangers as objects
[3:20]how can i benefit from them your most immediate family members those
[3:25]who are beloved to you normally that's how we view them how
[3:30]can i make use of them how can i benefit from them
[3:33]to put it in one short statement we usually view people like
[3:40]we see laptops and bananas what do i mean by that i'll
[3:45]give you the example of a laptop a laptop is a very
[3:50]useful device you can get your work done with it you can
[3:53]make money from it you can read books on it you can
[3:59]prepare for your presentation laptop is very useful some of us cannot
[4:04]live without it however when you examine this laptop you see it
[4:08]as a tool it's only an object that gets my work done
[4:13]that's why if i were to ask you about the history of
[4:21]this laptop and the factors that came together together to produce this
[4:26]laptop you would not know anything about it if i would tell
[4:30]you this laptop do you know the millions of factors that combined
[4:32]for you to enjoy it and for you to use it do
[4:37]you know the scientists who over the years collaborated and did research
[4:42]to produce a laptop the chip here the motherboard here the screen
[4:46]here do you know who made them which factory this comes from
[4:51]those factory workers who produced it do you know anything about their
[4:58]life normally we don't know anything about this laptop other than the
[5:01]fact that it's pretty useful yes i know some specs it has
[5:06]you know this speed it has 16 gigabytes of ram i know
[5:10]the resolution these basics but i don't know the history behind this
[5:16]laptop the millions of people who worked to produce this laptop for
[5:20]you millions of people work so you can enjoy a laptop if
[5:22]you look at the combined effort and then subhanallah when you realize
[5:29]the power of god this device this smartphone in your hands the
[5:36]laptop that you have you know it comes all from the earth
[5:38]examine every element in a laptop it comes from the earth every
[5:43]element in it go and see the breakdown of those elements i
[5:47]once read an article about the iphone it has tens and hundreds
[5:54]of parts every one of these parts comes from a mineral in
[5:57]the earth see what allah can create for you this earth that
[6:01]you see you just see a mountain you see dust you see
[6:04]rocks a beautiful scream can be made from that look at the
[6:08]adam of allah subhanahu ta'ala the greatness of the creation of god
[6:11]but i don't know any of this history and the problem is
[6:17]i don't care if tomorrow i were to invite all of you
[6:20]to a workshop here and i tell you tomorrow i'm going to
[6:23]give you a six-hour workshop on the history of laptops every part
[6:29]where it's produced who those factory workers are what kind of living
[6:33]conditions their families have i guarantee you most of you would not
[6:39]show up to this workshop you tell me say it i don't
[6:42]care the laptop is useful let me just enjoy it who cares
[6:45]about all of this so what that's how we view a laptop
[6:49]and then come to other blessings that allah has given us like
[6:54]food let's take the example of a banana westerners eat bananas a
[7:00]lot a few years ago in the u.s walmart the most item
[7:04]they sold to americans was a banana right everyone who's leaving out
[7:08]checking out let's grab a banana you look at this banana as
[7:13]a fruit gives you potassium it's good it's packed with energy it's
[7:16]a healthy food to eat but do you know what goes on
[7:23]behind the scenes for you to enjoy this banana millions of factors
[7:29]combined together for you to enjoy it that farmer who had to
[7:33]go through a lot of trouble to prepare the earth to grow
[7:38]the banana tree the rain water that came from thousands of miles
[7:44]away and this water itself it's billions of years old right look
[7:48]at all these factors combining and then they take that banana they
[7:55]send it to the factory they package it they ship it how
[7:58]many people are involved to bring this banana here to you in
[8:02]nova scotia if you look at the combined effort it's millions of
[8:08]people because you have to look at each segment independently the truck
[8:11]that brought it for you here who made the truck who are
[8:14]the people who worked in that factory to produce the truck and
[8:18]then the gas that the truck used when you think of these
[8:24]details your brain will stop because there are really millions of factors
[8:27]involved now when you look at the banana and you eat it
[8:32]you don't care about that i don't care let me just enjoy
[8:33]my banana i don't even know about these factors nor do i
[8:39]care about them if objects had feelings they would be very disappointed
[8:45]at us to human beings they'd be like they'd be offended right
[8:47]imagine if a banana had feelings and the banana would say okay
[8:52]this person is just eating me and doesn't care about all my
[8:55]history the banana would be upset the banana would be offended by
[9:00]the way banana does have feelings every object in the universe has
[9:06]feelings you know why because allah says in the holy quran everything
[9:13]in the universe has some perception you cannot comprehend it but it
[9:20]doesn't mean that objects don't have some sort of perception everything in
[9:25]existence recognizes its lord and that's why as a mutman you constantly
[9:30]thank allah for these blessings knowing that you can never pay god
[9:37]back and you can never thank him enough when we read this
[9:39]verse in the holy quran if you count the blessings of allah
[9:45]you can never keep account of them we usually don't take this
[9:52]seriously take it literally you can never count the blessings of allah
[9:55]i'll give you a quick example here so when you look at
[10:01]just one small banana you see that millions of factors produced it
[10:04]you look at your body you see billions of cells and atoms
[10:09]in your body if you want to thank allah for each of
[10:11]these factors for each cell in your body how long will it
[10:15]take you in 2007 jeremy harper he found his way to the
[10:24]guinness book of world records by counting from zero to a million
[10:31]in three months he even broadcast it live it took him 89
[10:37]days he started in june he finished in september he wanted to
[10:41]count all the way to a million it took him three months
[10:48]he would spend 16 hours a day counting for three months his
[10:50]full-time job 16 hours a day was just to count and he
[10:55]broadcast it live it took him three months if you want to
[10:59]say from one to a million right the digits 16 hours a
[11:03]day it will take you three months now if one banana has
[11:07]millions of factors in it and you want to thank allah for
[11:09]each factor what kind of age do you need for that is
[11:14]it possible to even thank allah well allah says you can never
[11:19]keep track of the blessings that i've given you so be humbled
[11:22]and thank allah from the bottom of your heart knowing that you
[11:25]can never pay him back some of us if we say alhamdulillah
[11:31]thank you allah we really feel as if he paid him back
[11:34]you can never pay back so look at these simple objects there
[11:40]is so much history behind them but we don't care about that
[11:45]history because we human beings tend to look at everything as a
[11:51]tool as an object i just want to use it i don't
[11:52]care about that history the way we view a laptop and a
[11:59]banana is the way we see people around us every single day
[12:01]even our loved ones even in our marital relationships too often you
[12:07]see a husband who looks at his wife as a set of
[12:13]features he doesn't see her as a true human being he sees
[12:17]her as a person with features she cooks she does house chores
[12:21]she cleans the house she goes through pregnancy she brings me children
[12:25]she offers me intimacy that's all i see i see an object
[12:29]that is useful for me and it gives me those certain features
[12:34]i sometimes don't see that this person is a human being same
[12:37]with other people around you and based on my experience with those
[12:41]people who come for marital counseling those people who feel sad in
[12:47]the marriage and feel miserable in the marriage and you have problems
[12:49]in the marriage it goes back to this fundamental point you'll see
[12:53]that one of the spouses either the husband or the wife and
[12:56]sometimes both they don't really see the other side as a human
[13:01]being who has a soul who has a precious soul we don't
[13:09]see that i just see an object i see a tool that
[13:13]i need to benefit from and they feel miserable the wife feels
[13:16]miserable the husband feels miserable sometimes she sees him as just an
[13:24]object she's benefiting from him she's some woman they see their husbands
[13:28]as atm machines that's all they see them they cannot see beyond
[13:33]that and this brings a lot of frustration in the marriage we
[13:36]tend to see each others each other as objects in the month
[13:42]of ramadan we learn to rise above that and this is our
[13:48]human challenge not just within a family look at our society for
[13:52]instance look at our professions for instance look at the world of
[13:55]doctors and professionals there are two types of doctors there are those
[14:00]doctors who look at you as a number as some object they
[14:05]don't care about you who you are your human feelings your human
[14:09]experiences they don't care about them sometimes you go to some clinics
[14:16]to some hospitals right especially in some other countries you honestly don't
[14:20]feel like you're a human being in that place i myself i've
[14:23]experienced that from the way you stand in line you get a
[14:25]number and then the way that you're treated like a sheep like
[14:32]an animal you sit there and then once after three hours it's
[14:34]your turn to see that doctor he's sitting there wallahi is not
[14:37]willing to look at you in the eye because he doesn't care
[14:41]you're just a number as long as he's making his money he
[14:46]doesn't care you are just a number in front of him he
[14:50]sits there you know he's arrogant and you know he's not interested
[14:55]i've been i've even entered in some of these offices i see
[15:00]the doctor he has the prescription in his hand and the pen
[15:04]ready ready he just wants to write some medicine and kick you
[15:07]out of his office because he doesn't see you as a human
[15:09]being you're just some object you're just some patient who cares about
[15:14]you and then you have a second group of doctors the second
[15:21]group of doctors they see that humanity in you and they give
[15:26]you that fine human touch they say something nice they show empathy
[15:32]they show care you truly feel respected by that doctor yes this
[15:38]doctor maybe doesn't know me maybe it's his first time seeing me
[15:43]it's her first time seeing me but i truly feel that this
[15:45]doctor cares this doctor has humanity in them you know these type
[15:48]of these type of doctors they help their patients heal more than
[15:54]that first group of doctors when a patient goes to a doctor
[15:59]a surgeon feeling that the surgeon sees me as a human being
[16:03]and care as cares about me and my well-being i know that
[16:08]in the office the way he treated me he asked me about
[16:13]my family members he asked me about my day what am i
[16:14]up to he showed care he laughed with me he showed me
[16:20]genuine human emotions when that doctor operates on me i feel much
[16:23]more comfortable i feel safer i feel stronger i heal better that
[16:29]touch of humanity does miracles in our lives but this is what's
[16:36]missing in our societies today unfortunately we see others as objects corporations
[16:41]see people as objects how do i just make money out of
[16:44]these people you're just a number nobody cares about you even our
[16:49]popular culture that's how we are viewed in society one of the
[16:54]reasons why today teenagers are going through so much depression anxiety suicidal
[16:59]thoughts is because they feel as if the world of social media
[17:05]and our popular culture has reduced them to numbers has reduced them
[17:10]to objects today one of the biggest challenges of our youth is
[17:14]they don't feel happy with their bodies why because the society views
[17:18]them as an object and let's face it today in this world
[17:23]if you're not rich if you don't come from a prestigious family
[17:27]and if you're not good looking you don't have the perfect body
[17:32]who cares about you how many people out there care about you
[17:34]in society if you're missing these yes if you're rich you're powerful
[17:39]you have a position you come from a prestigious family people might
[17:43]respect you people might care but when it comes to you know
[17:49]the the hum the humanity in you not many people care yes
[17:53]if you have the perfect body you'll get a lot of attention
[17:56]but if you have a beautiful soul how many people pay attention
[18:00]to that not many people care about that not many people are
[18:04]willing to even see the fine nature of the soul that allah
[18:07]has created in you we are busy with superficial aspects what defines
[18:14]you is not your body it's your soul before you came to
[18:18]this dunya allah created you in the world of souls when you
[18:20]die you'll shed this body away but your soul stays but we're
[18:26]obsessed with this body only perfecting this body i have to have
[18:29]the perfect body if i don't i'm upset there are people who
[18:31]commit suicide because of that and the reason is because society has
[18:36]not shown them what it means to be human see that humanity
[18:43]don't see others as mere objects i tell you this is the
[18:50]challenge of every believer and every human being in this world if
[18:53]i have a company and i have employees this is a very
[18:58]natural scenario let's say you have a supermarket you have a company
[19:00]an insurance company you have a gas station you have any type
[19:06]of company where employees work under you be honest with me between
[19:09]you and god even we the believers don't you feel if you're
[19:13]the head of the company you're the boss you're the manager don't
[19:17]you feel that you're better than your employees we do naturally we
[19:25]do this gas station has 10 employees workers and you have the
[19:30]owner of the gas station whether you like it or not this
[19:36]owner feels he's better than those employees even if he's decent he
[19:40]doesn't yell at them he doesn't abuse them inside his heart he
[19:45]feels more important he feels like he's better than them why because
[19:47]they're working for me here comes the beauty of islam and imam
[19:55]zayn al-abidin al-islam teaches you do you want to taste true iman
[20:01]do you want to taste the sweetness of faith when you step
[20:04]outside your house and you go out there in the world see
[20:09]everyone out there as potentially being better than you and see yourself
[20:16]as being less than everyone else that's a true movement even if
[20:20]you see others on a different path once a man comes to
[20:25]imam he says i see sinful people sinful people people who have
[20:30]bad habits bad lifestyles corrupt people out there can't i at least
[20:34]say i'm better than them at least i'm a muwali i'm a
[20:38]muahrid i'm a man can't i at least say to myself i'm
[20:41]better than that corrupt person at least i have iman this person
[20:46]doesn't at least i'm not committing those sins this person is the
[20:49]imam says no you have no right to think that way he
[20:53]says why the imam says how do you know the ending of
[20:55]the affairs maybe that person last minute does tawba allah forgives him
[21:01]and you deviate do you have such guarantee and then the imam
[21:04]gives them the example of the magicians sahara the sorcerers of the
[21:07]era of prophet musa alaihissalam the imam tells him they lived an
[21:12]entire life of kufur an entire life of disbelief last minute they
[21:19]see the miracle they repent they worship allah they go straight to
[21:24]heaven whereas some others last day of their lives they deviate they
[21:28]go to hell don't even say to yourself i'm better than that
[21:32]corrupt person maybe that corrupt person will repent and allah will accept
[21:37]them more than he accepts me if i have employees here's my
[21:46]challenge to truly feel that i am equal to them or they
[21:47]could be potentially be better than me can i reach this state
[21:51]or no this is the message of the month of ramadan why
[21:53]do you think we fast for 30 days to worship allah this
[21:59]way see the empathy see the spirituality see the human side in
[22:08]people rasulullah the greatest creation of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala once he
[22:15]was sinning with his companions and the casket of a deceased passed
[22:22]by janazah there were people carrying the casket the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[22:26]stood up to respect that casket his companions told him ya allah
[22:32]why did you get up this is a jewish man who died
[22:33]why did you show that respect let's look at the response of
[22:39]the prophet he responded by saying two words but an ocean of
[22:43]humanity and knowledge are contained in these two words the prophet said
[22:47]in arabic alice at nephson look at rasulullah today the world doesn't
[22:53]know who the rasool is if they know him they'd follow him
[22:56]he said isn't he a soul isn't he a human being so
[22:59]what if he's jewish i respected this body it's the body of
[23:04]a human being see the humanity don't get stuck on labels see
[23:07]the humanity in this person the prophet truly cared he did not
[23:13]take advantage of people and use them as objects even if his
[23:18]mission was for allah he still didn't take advantage of people see
[23:22]how the prophet salallahu treated the ansar the ansar the helpers in
[23:29]medina after the fatah of mecca the conquest of mecca they were
[23:34]concerned why were they concerned because they realize now that the prophet
[23:38]sallallahu alaihi achieved victory over the meccans mecca is his hometown it's
[23:43]his birthplace they feared the prophet will leave medina and go to
[23:50]mecca now because islam now became the dominant reality in mecca and
[23:55]he's safe there and allah gave him a grand victory so the
[23:59]people of medina were concerned is the prophet now going to go
[24:04]back to mecca or no the prophet salallahu alaihi knew that they
[24:08]were concerned the prophet is their concerns he says no i'm going
[24:12]back to medina look at the loyalty of rasulullah i just i
[24:15]didn't just come to your city to take advantage of you or
[24:18]to use you even if it's for the religion of allah i'm
[24:21]coming back to your city it's my town now and i will
[24:27]be buried here see that's the humanity of rasulullah and another beautiful
[24:34]example that we see between the prophet and the ansar if you
[24:37]look at the battle of hunain something very disturbing happened unfortunately because
[24:42]of the love of this dunya so after the battle of hunain
[24:47]the prophet was dividing the spoils of war right for instance the
[24:51]camels the gold the silver the spoils of war the prophet sent
[24:56]a lot of the spoils of war to the meccans because the
[25:00]meccans had just entered islam the prophet wants to give them something
[25:04]to keep them quiet to avoid their controversies and their fitness and
[25:08]their problems right so he sent them a lot of spoils of
[25:15]war to create peace in arabia the people of medina the ansar
[25:21]they're very upset they say we come here we fight we support
[25:24]him the meccans get most of the spoils of war they could
[25:29]not accept that so they come to their leader the leader of
[25:33]the ansar was said they tell him sad we're not happy with
[25:36]this arrangement go talk to him we're not happy we came here
[25:41]we're fighting we're sacrificing he sends most of the spoils of war
[25:47]to the meccans sat comes to rasulullah he tells them this decision
[25:57]that you've made to send the spoils of war to mecca is
[26:01]it from allah or is it from you if it's from allah
[26:07]we have no choice but to accept i can't object to god
[26:12]but if it's from you we're not happy is that is that
[26:16]how you treat rasulullah after all these years is this appropriate to
[26:20]tell your prophet even if that's the prophet's decision if you're a
[26:24]true men you should fully embrace you should fully accept but it's
[26:27]a test my dear brothers and sisters believe me even those who
[26:31]think they're the best believers when allah tries them their true colors
[26:36]show the prophet was very disappointed with this so he came he
[26:40]spoke to the ansar he told them o ansar your chief your
[26:47]master your mawla has said this do you agree with what he
[26:50]said now they were very polite by the way they told him
[26:55]ya rasulallah you are our mawla allah is our mawla he told
[27:00]them again but he is your chief isn't he they said you
[27:04]are our chief he says i know but you recognize him as
[27:06]your chief they said yes the prophet tells him what he told
[27:12]me do you all agree they said yes ya rasulullah if it's
[27:14]from god we accept if it's from you we cannot accept this
[27:19]we find this unfair at this moment the prophet salallahu alaihi aroused
[27:25]their guilt and he wanted them to feel ashamed of what they
[27:32]did the prophet told them so gently weren't you misguided allah guided
[27:37]you through me weren't you few in numbers allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[27:42]made you a big nation and multiplied your numbers through me weren't
[27:47]you fighting all the time allah united you through me allah made
[27:52]you the best nation look at medina right now can you compare
[27:55]it to seven eight years ago allah gave you all these blessings
[27:59]through me and now you come and object about a few camels
[28:05]they really felt ashamed but here's where you know the greatness of
[28:11]rasulullah he had to teach them the lesson they have to feel
[28:16]guilty they kept quiet they didn't say anything they felt ashamed the
[28:20]prophet sallallahu alaihi told them don't you have a response answer me
[28:22]say something back to me they told them ya rasulallah we have
[28:26]nothing to say you're right everything you say is true we feel
[28:32]ashamed for what we said and everything you say is true we
[28:37]don't have any response the prophet says i'll tell you what to
[28:40]tell me look at the look at this phenomenal heart of rasulullah
[28:46]he told them you can also tell me ya rasulullah your own
[28:53]city exiled you we gave you refuge your own people did not
[28:57]accept your claim they accused you of being a liar but we
[29:03]believed in you we gave you security tell me this you can
[29:06]also tell rasulallah this when the prophet said this they all broke
[29:12]into tears they broke into tears when they saw the humbleness of
[29:16]rasulullah in other words the prophet was telling them look i don't
[29:19]see you as objects i see you as valuable subjects i care
[29:26]about you i didn't come here to take advantage of you i
[29:30]also give you credit you stood with me and allah gave support
[29:34]to islam through you allah supported this religion through you this is
[29:41]he would not see other people as objects you're all familiar with
[29:50]this last statement he said to malika but some of us may
[29:53]not be familiar with the first part the imam is teaching his
[29:57]governors how to view their subjects the imam ali salaam tells maliki
[30:00]in that treatise in the ayat he tells him normally it's hard
[30:17]for you when the when you're the governor when you're the ruler
[30:20]and you have all the powers normally it's very hard for you
[30:26]to see people as human beings you see them as objects i
[30:29]political power i can enforce it i just see numbers numbers when
[30:36]they tell you my the population of my city is 1 million
[30:38]i as a ruler what do i see i see a digit
[30:42]called a million you're all part of that number i no longer
[30:45]see that humanity that's what happens with most rulers right force your
[30:56]heart to feel the mercy for your subjects pressure your heart force
[31:01]your heart i know it's not easy you need to train yourself
[31:10]bring your heart to love your subjects those whom you're ruling over
[31:26]don't be a wild beast willing to pray on them because that's
[31:31]what politicians do they prey on their people then the imam makes
[31:36]this famous statement which you've all memorized because people are two categories
[31:47]because people fall under these two categories either they're your brothers in
[31:52]faith this person is your brother see him as a brother or
[31:57]he's your counterpart in creation just allah created you allah created that
[32:01]person too sometimes we feel special allah created me i'm special you're
[32:06]not more special than that other person allah created him too you
[32:09]know as they say scholars have mixed feelings about the synod of
[32:14]the hadith but it's interesting hadith they say one day musa alaihissalam
[32:18]asked allah subhanahu ta'ala why did you create the why did you
[32:24]create the ant you know some insignificant creature crawling the earth right
[32:29]why did you create it according to the hadith allah subhana wa
[32:33]ta allah told musa musa moments before you asked me an aunt
[32:39]asked me allah why did you create musa see how we see
[32:46]this life from our lens yeah the ant can ask allah the
[32:50]same question you know when we say oh allah these annoying ants
[32:53]why did you create them the ant will say yeah allah these
[32:55]annoying human beings getting always in our way crushing us whenever they
[33:03]can like that namla said in surat anem with sulaiman you know
[33:06]pack up let's get out of here because sulaiman and his and
[33:10]his soldiers are going to crush us over here right if i
[33:14]think animals are annoying animals believe me they think i'm annoying too
[33:17]we have this selfish perception of life so the imam alayhi salaam
[33:27]bring your heart to see those people whom you rule over as
[33:35]the creations of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala see them as human beings
[33:38]can you achieve that if you want to know if the month
[33:43]of ramadan was productive this year ask yourself am i closer to
[33:46]this humanity or no if you're closer to this humanity you passed
[33:49]your trial you benefited from the month of ramadan and you're all
[33:55]familiar with that amazing scene of amir al-mu'min when he was passing
[33:58]by and he saw an old man begging imam ali salaam asked
[34:04]what is this they told him yeah this is a christian man
[34:08]non-muslim who cares he's begging the imam didn't tell them who is
[34:13]he what is this why is an elderly man begging in my
[34:16]government why we have to take care of the elderly then the
[34:21]imam says this beautiful statement when he was young and he had
[34:25]muscles and energy you used him society used him now that he's
[34:32]old you betray him you don't take care of him no i
[34:35]want you to take him and put him on the monthly salary
[34:38]from the bait malik muslim from the public funds this is he
[34:43]would not allow a non-muslim to be used in his government but
[34:48]that's our challenge going forward every day ask yourself when you're dealing
[34:53]with your wife your husband your sister your brother am i seeing
[34:59]them like laptops and bananas or no i care about them and
[35:03]their history and what they go through and i truly have that
[35:07]empathy yes you know who the closest human beings on earth the
[35:13]people who are closest to seeing you as human beings not as
[35:18]objects that they can benefit from it's your parents yes maybe there
[35:24]are some parents who even see their children as tools for their
[35:27]own success that's natural the reason why your parents have the greatest
[35:33]right over you is because they are the least people on earth
[35:38]to view you as an object parents truly care about their children
[35:42]they want the success of their children sometimes parents will if they
[35:49]will impact their own success just to see their kids successful appreciate
[35:52]that that's why they have the greatest haka on you everyone else
[35:57]out everyone else out there your friends your community your society they
[36:01]think what am i going to benefit from this person they use
[36:05]they see you as an object except your parents your parents are
[36:10]the least likely people to see you as objects appreciate that yes
[36:14]we see our parents as objects i benefit from my parents right
[36:18]my parents gave me everything i benefited from them but my parents
[36:24]don't see me the way i see them it's impossible to equate
[36:27]between these two and that's why one day a man came to
[36:34]rasulullah carrying his old mother on his back there were no wheelchairs
[36:37]back then he came to hajj carrying his mother on his back
[36:41]to the hajj you think it's easy to do that tawaf she
[36:46]she's on his back going to mina going to arafah the guy
[36:52]was exhausted he came standing before rasulullah you can imagine he's probably
[36:55]you know not even being able to breathe anymore he's exhausted he
[36:59]says did i pay her back now i know she carried me
[37:04]nine months in her room now i've been carrying her for weeks
[37:07]on my back so i paid her back the prophet said no
[37:13]not even one contraction of labor why why you're not being fair
[37:19]ah the prophet gives you the answer the prophet teaches us when
[37:24]your mother carried you she was happy eager every minute for you
[37:29]come to the to come to this dunya to embrace you she
[37:34]was excited you are carrying your mom on your back you're waiting
[37:37]by the minute for her to leave she's a guest you're saying
[37:41]yeah let me serve her today tomorrow she's going to be gone
[37:44]you're waiting for your mom to leave this world you're not excited
[37:50]for her to stay longer when you have an older father an
[37:53]older mother who's crippled who's sick and you have to serve them
[37:58]honestly are you excited for them to live longer you're not excited
[38:03]even if you're the best son even if you're so gentle you
[38:06]kiss their hand every day but you're not excited but when you
[38:10]have a baby on the way aren't you excited can you compare
[38:14]between these two the prophet says you can never pay her back
[38:17]the love the excitement she had for you you can never pay
[38:23]that back that's why they have such a high right over us
[38:26]don't think you can ever pay them back i know some children
[38:29]you know if they go and serve their parents he takes his
[38:33]mom to five doctor's appointments or he buys his dad a house
[38:37]when he's old he really thinks he's paid them back you can
[38:39]never pay them back who are you fooling you can never pay
[38:45]them back and when you acknowledge that you've done justice to them
[38:49]when you acknowledge that mom and dad no matter what i do
[38:52]i can never pay you back then you've done them justice otherwise
[38:55]you cannot do them justice so this is our challenge as we
[39:02]come towards the end of the month of ramadan brothers and sisters
[39:04]let us reflect on this reality let's see others as human beings
[39:12]your spouse don't see your spouse as a a a object with
[39:16]a bunch of features see the soul see the spirituality in your
[39:19]spouse and your in your siblings and those around you even your
[39:25]employees truly see them as human beings that's how we invite others
[39:29]to the path of rasulullah to the path of amir al-mu'min but
[39:35]this is the month of forgiveness my dear brothers and sisters ask
[39:40]allah for forgiveness on these last two nights say oh allah if
[39:44]you have not forgiven us in these tuna in in the last
[39:49]26 27 28 nights oh allah please forgive us don't let that
[39:52]eat come without earning your forgiveness from allah and when allah forgives
[39:56]you you feel it in your heart believe me allah gives you
[40:01]that peace in your heart because you know if you're sincere or
[40:04]not see i don't know if others are sincere or not but
[40:07]i know myself i can't fool and deceive myself all it requires
[40:12]is humbleness of the heart and sincerity show that sincerity those who
[40:29]ask the needy they have stood at your gate [Music] those who
[41:24]are in need they have now landed at the shores of your
[41:30]mercy they are asking you to cross to your land of mercy
[41:35]and compassion [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh allah in this blessed month if
[42:04]you only forgive those who did well those who fasted properly they
[42:09]spent the night in your ibadah then what about us the sinful
[42:15]ones we who have drowned in our sins who do we have
[42:17]if you only have mercy on the good ones [Music] who did
[42:41]well then what about us we still have hope yes we should
[42:45]do more but we still have hope on [Music] foreign [Music]
