[2:24]And peace and blessings be on all his prophets and especially the

[2:29]final prophet, the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi.

[2:31]My respected brothers and sisters, did the Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be

[2:39]upon him and his family know that he was a prophet of

[2:43]God?

[2:44]Or did it come as a shock to him?

[2:47]Did he need his wife Khadijah to confirm it to him?

[2:54]And did Khadijah need her cousin Wakbin Noel to be the one

[2:58]who approves of the prophethood and the vision and the revelation that

[3:02]had come to the holy prophet peace be upon him and his

[3:04]family.

[3:05]One of the clearest areas of difference between Sunni and Shia theology,

[3:11]Sunni and Shia Islam involves the concept of prophethood and especially whether

[3:20]the holy prophet peace be upon him and his family knew that

[3:24]he was a prophet of God or not.

[3:26]This is a huge discussion and a fundamental discussion for Muslims and

[3:30]non-Muslims because I think that such a topic is intriguing for non-Muslims

[3:34]as much as it is for Muslims.

[3:35]If I am a non-Muslim today and I open a Sah Bkari

[3:41]or I open a Sah Muslim, I need to find out and

[3:45]make sure that the prophet Muhammad actually knew and was certain that

[3:50]he's a prophet of God.

[3:50]The last thing I want to see is a man of uncertainty

[3:55]when revelation comes to him.

[3:57]If you imagine a Christian or a member of the Jewish faith

[4:02]has already discussed in the Bible, old and new testament, prophets who

[4:06]have come in the past.

[4:07]Those prophets were prophets primarily who knew that they had received revelation,

[4:13]who knew Gabriel, who knew what role or what task they were

[4:18]entrusted with.

[4:19]One may argue that apart from the incident of Samuel and Eli

[4:25]in the Bible, generally speaking, the prophets in the Bible know exactly

[4:29]what's happening in relation to their prophethood.

[4:32]The last thing I'd want is a prophet who's confused or a

[4:37]prophet who needs justification from somebody else that he hasn't just seen

[4:42]a vision or he hasn't just become deluded or crazy or bewitched

[4:47]but rather he's certain of himself and has always been certain of

[4:52]himself.

[4:53]Even one may ask a question theologically that how does God communicate

[4:59]to a prophet before that prophet announces his prophethood to the people

[5:06]because many times if you were to ask Muslims when did the

[5:11]prophet peace be upon him his family become a prophet you'll see

[5:14]that many will reply by saying that the prophet became a prophet

[5:17]at the age of 40.

[5:20]Does that mean that at the age of 40 he suddenly received

[5:23]shocking news that he is a prophet?

[5:29]Or did he know at 37?

[5:30]Did he know at 34?

[5:30]Did he know at 31?

[5:33]Did he know at 24?

[5:34]Did he know at 12?

[5:36]Did he know at 3?

[5:38]Did he know from the day that he is born?

[5:39]Now, someone might say to me, Smart, what do you mean, did

[5:42]he know from the day that he's born?

[5:44]Come on, at least say 40.

[5:46]And it's understandable.

[5:47]There are prophets in the Holy Quran who knew that they were

[5:53]messengers of God from the day that they were born.

[5:57]It is not unusual for us to look in the Holy Quran

[6:00]and find a prophet knowing that he's a prophet saying that he's

[6:06]a prophet while he's a baby.

[6:07]Join me over here.

[6:07]Let's look in the holy Quran.

[6:10]My dear brothers and sisters, if you go to surah 19 of

[6:12]the holy Quran, all of you know of course surah Mariam.

[6:16]When we look in surah Mariam in surah 19 of the holy

[6:19]Quran, we will see very clearly my dear brothers and sisters that

[6:25]is in the midst of the most difficult time for his mother

[6:28]is able to answer those who are accusing his mother of adultery.

[6:37]When they see that his mother when she's being attacked, when they

[6:42]see that his mother points towards the baby, as you could see

[6:46]over here in verse number 29 of Surah 19, she pointed to

[6:58]him.

[6:58]They said, "How can we speak unto one who is yet a

[7:02]child in the cradle?" He replies, Abdullah Jesus said, "I am the

[7:09]servant of God.

[7:12]He has given me a book and made me a prophet in

[7:19]Islamic theology is no way higher than the prophet peace be upon

[7:25]him and his family." Every Muslim agrees on this Sunni and Shia.

[7:28]But Isa knew that he's a nebi while in the cradle.

[7:33]Why is it therefore that in Sunni Islam even at the age

[7:37]of 40 the holy prophet is perplexed with what's happening when he's

[7:42]received his first revelation in one of the clearest and most stark

[7:46]contrasts between Sunni and Shia Islam is whether the holy prophet peace

[7:54]be upon him's family knew that he was a prophet when Jira

[7:57]bought the first revelation in Shia Islam it's a unanimous Yes, in

[8:03]Sunni Islam, it's a major question mark.

[8:06]If you look again in the Quran, you'll see that there could

[8:09]be another prophet who is already able to interpret the message that

[8:15]God's given him at a very young age.

[8:16]If I look for example again in the Quran when I look

[8:18]at surah y for example surah 12 of the holy Quran I'll

[8:23]see over here if you come with me over here you'll see

[8:28]this wonderful story whenam in verse number four what does the Quran

[8:31]say in surah 12:4 says to his father oh my father verily

[8:46]I did see in dream 11 stars and the sun and the

[8:48]moon.

[8:48]I saw them all prostrating before me unto me.

[8:51]You'll see that Nbi Ysef Alisam is discussing what are inanimate objects

[8:57]makes them animate objects understands the of the dream and of course

[9:02]his father blatantly tells him in the next ay whatever you do

[9:09]my son and his father is of course so his father already

[9:16]knows that this is a sign of in a very young soba

[9:19]knows that he's a nebi at a young age.

[9:21]He's comfortable with it.

[9:25]Nebi knows he's a nebi at a very young age.

[9:28]Nebi knows he's a nebi at a very young age.

[9:29]And yet Islam continues to want to portray that the holy prophet

[9:37]was somewhat in a state of delirium, delusion, and possible epilepsy when

[9:42]the first revelation came to him.

[9:43]And we'll open Bkari and Muslims so that we could see this.

[9:46]We're also going to ask a question today.

[9:48]Khadijaham no doubt is involved in this first revelation is this pivotal

[9:54]backbone to the holy prophet peace be upon him and his family

[9:56]and it's vital that we understand what her role is in relation

[10:02]to that revelation but in Bkari Muslim we're going to be introduced

[10:06]to Khadijah's cousin Khadijah's uncle someone related to Khadijah by the name

[10:10]of Noel who is this no who has to approve the Sunni

[10:13]prophet Muhammad s let's try and open it up today in order

[10:18]that we're able to understand not just whether the prophet knew he

[10:24]was a prophet or not but the role of Khadijam and her

[10:27]cousin no who pops up in Bkari pops up in Muslim and

[10:32]he's the one who's going to tell the prophet listen relax you're

[10:35]a prophet and I give you the approval for it now when

[10:39]we come to sadam we all know my dear brothers and sisters

[10:42]of course for us sadisam is this exquisite figure and of Of

[10:48]course, she is this figure who is fundamental in the life of

[10:50]the holy prophet peace be upon him.

[10:51]She's already been married to him for 15 years.

[10:54]Was the prophet the first person she married?

[10:57]Yes, he was.

[10:59]So, she wasn't married to two before him.

[11:03]Sunni Islam will tell you that the prophet was married or Khadijah

[11:05]was married to two men before the prophet peace be upon him's

[11:09]family.

[11:09]And in particular, I'd like this whole episode to be dictated to

[11:14]Imam Omar Sleman.

[11:16]Imam Omar Sleman or Sheikh Omar Sulleman is an American sheh.

[11:20]He is of course a Sunni American Sheh and he has a

[11:26]whole lecture on SA Khadijah and the first revelation and today we're

[11:29]going to take snippets from his lecture as well as Bkari and

[11:36]Muslim so we understand how Omaran explains Khadijah and her life and

[11:41]her role in this first revelation.

[11:43]Now she Omar mashallah very smiley always smiling and of course people

[11:48]love this and it's something that I might need to learn from

[11:50]him in all honesty because it's amazing how much a smile can

[11:55]allow you to get away withever whatever you say.

[11:56]Let's see Omaran telling us about the Sunni Khadijah's marriages before the

[12:02]holy prophet peace be upon him and his family.

[12:18]uh but hint uh hint ibn abi who's the son of khadijah

[12:25]the oldest son of khadijah has one of the most beautiful descriptions

[12:27]of the prophet so he lived to the time of Islam and

[12:31]he described the prophet peace be upon him his physical uh characteristics

[12:36]his sh his uh his appearance his character and one of the

[12:40]most beautiful descriptions so if you were to look up h ibn

[12:43]abi's description of the prophet sallall alaihi wasallam it is an an

[12:47]incredible uh description one of the most prominent descriptions in the books

[12:50]of um he lived all the way until 36 after.

[12:53]So he he lived actually well after the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam

[13:00]even uh not just narrated from Abbas alass Hussein uh and and

[13:05]his son also hint uh so her first husband Abu Halah passed

[13:12]away she married alumi um she had a daughter from him named

[13:20]Hind also so a son from the first one named Hind second

[13:25]uh husband.

[13:27]She had a daughter named Hind.

[13:28]Um also a son named Abdah.

[13:31]Um obviously uh reference to idolatry, but this one that's not that

[13:38]that doesn't come in any um sound narration per se, but some

[13:41]of the books mention a son by the name of Abdah.

[13:44]And that would not be because of her idol worship or approving

[13:46]of idolatry, but it would be because that was the name of

[13:51]her grandfather.

[13:50]So maybe a son Abdah from him as well.

[13:54]Now this one this husband passed away also um and he died

[13:59]when she was only 25.

[14:00]So she was already widowed twice at the age of 25 years

[14:05]old.

[14:05]Um meaning that she would go 15 years 15 years unmarried after

[14:07]being married to two husbands before the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

[14:12]Benu Makum is a considered one of the richest tribes.

[14:15]Uh anyone know any famous members from Abu Jah?

[14:22]Abu Jah is from and of course are from Benu.

[14:27]So these are very powerful rich people in society.

[14:31]So when is 25 years old she's already widowed or she's she's

[14:36]already become a widow twice.

[14:41]Um had inherited from both of her parents Sunni Khadijah has become

[14:47]a widow twice before she marries the holy prophet peace be upon

[14:50]his family.

[14:51]It's amazing what a smile can do.

[14:52]You could get followers from every m and all they'll do is

[14:55]they'll just see that someone is just saying something.

[14:58]It always sounds nice.

[14:58]10th of Muharam smiling 21st of Ramadan smiling smiling the whole year

[15:02]because there is absolutely no feeling for when it's the time to

[15:07]be sad for Al Muhammad.

[15:09]So this Sunni Khadijah she's already been widowed twice.

[15:11]Of course we reject that whole thing.

[15:13]She's been married to the prophet for 15 years.

[15:17]Now the prophet is 40 years of age.

[15:19]And now we want to see whether the man knows he's a

[15:24]prophet or no.

[15:23]So where do we go?

[15:55]statement of Allah which of course is hadith number 4955 narrated is

[16:04]the commencement of the divine revelation to Allah's messenger was in the

[16:10]form of good righteous true dreams and then the angel came to

[16:16]him and said read in the name of your lord who created

[16:18]all that exists he has created man from a clot Read beating

[16:22]if you read over here.

[16:26]read as you can see over here my dear brothers and sisters

[16:29]you'll see over here we'll come back to chapter one actually let

[16:32]us discuss from chapter one firstly let's discuss from the book of

[16:34]commentary chapter 1 hadith 4953 narrated the wife of the prophet the

[16:41]commencement or the divine revelation to Allah's messenger was in the form

[16:44]of true dreams in his sleep for he had for he never

[16:47]had a dream but it turned out to be true and clear

[16:48]as the bright daylight then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon

[16:53]him so he used to go in seclusion In the cave of

[16:55]where he used to worship Allah alone continuously for many nights before

[16:58]returning to his family to take the necessary provision of food from

[17:03]the stay.

[17:01]He would come back to his wife Khadijah again to take his

[17:06]provision of food likewise till one day he received guidance while he

[17:10]was in the cave of an angel came to him and asked

[17:14]him to read.

[17:13]Allah's messenger replied I do not know how to read.

[17:18]The prophet then said, "Then the angel held me forcefully and pressed

[17:22]me so hard that I felt distressed.

[17:24]I could not bear it anymore.

[17:26]He then released me and again asked me to read and I

[17:30]replied, "I do not know how to read." Thereupon he held me

[17:33]again and pressed me for a second time till I felt distressed.

[17:35]He then released me and asked me to read, but again I

[17:40]replied, "I do not know how to read." Thereupon he held me

[17:42]for the third time and pressed me till I felt distressed.

[17:45]And then he released me and said, "Read in the name of

[17:47]your Lord who has created all that exists, has created man from

[17:50]a cloth.

[17:50]Read and your Lord is the most generous who has taught the

[17:54]writing by the pen.

[17:54]He taught man that which he knew not." Then Allah's messenger returned

[17:58]with that revelation and his heart severely beating and the muscles between

[18:04]his neck and shoulders were trembling till he came upon Khadijah his

[18:09]wife and said, "Cover me." They covered him till his fear was

[18:14]over.

[18:15]And after that he said to Khadijah, "Oh Khadijah, what is wrong

[18:19]with me?" Oh Khadijah, what is wrong with me?

[18:27]Oh Khadijah, what is wrong with me?

[18:32]Of course, the poor prophet had just been in a UFC fight

[18:35]with the angel.

[18:36]Of course, there's going to be a major problem for this man

[18:40]because this gi has come to him and really treated him with

[18:43]disrespect.

[18:44]Girael, the highest of angels has treated the best creation of Allah

[18:49]subhana wa ta'ala with disrespect.

[18:51]Come back.

[18:53]Oh, Khadijah, what is wrong with me?

[18:56]I was afraid that something bad might happen to me.

[18:58]Then he told her all that happened.

[18:59]Khadijah said, "Nay, but he re but receive the good tidings.

[19:05]By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you.

[19:07]For by Allah, you keep good relations with your kith and kin.

[19:09]Speak the truth, help the poor and the destitute, entertain your guests

[19:12]generously, and assist the deserving calamity stricken.

[19:16]Hold on a second.

[19:16]She says, "Allah won't ever disgrace you because you're good to everyone."

[19:21]That's got nothing to do with this.

[19:26]Allah won't disgrace you because you're good to your family.

[19:30]He is receiving the most important revelation that Muslims believe is there

[19:34]for mankind from the beginning till the end.

[19:37]What's him having to do good with his family got anything to

[19:39]do with the most important revelation?

[19:42]There is no way that has to remind the greatest creation of

[19:49]Allah subhana wa ta'ala who non say we don't have enough respect

[19:55]for there is no way no way that su needs his wife

[19:59]to remind him about his good merits with his lord cuz I

[20:04]must say something at the beginning of this hadith I enjoy the

[20:06]beginning of this hadith beginning says the man would go in seclusion

[20:10]the man might receive messages in his dreams He knew way before

[20:13]this day that he's a prophet of Allah.

[20:15]He already had a relationship with Jira way before this day, which

[20:19]is the beginning of this hadith.

[20:20]Why else would you go to unless from the beginning you knew

[20:26]what your mission was?

[20:25]But then to say that he tells Khadijah, I don't know what's

[20:28]going on.

[20:29]And she tells him, God won't disgrace you because you're good to

[20:36]the poor.

[20:35]Really?

[20:43]So we hear Omaran continue telling us beautifully and with a smile

[20:50]what this narration says.

[20:54]No one could possibly no human being could comfort the prophet the

[21:00]way that could comfort the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

[21:03]He and I want you to think of the scene.

[21:07]The prophet sallallaihi wasallam bursts into the home tells cover me cover

[21:17]me hold me embrace me does not ask any questions.

[21:22]Allah what he just saw.

[21:23]Did Allah knows did did he get attacked on the way home?

[21:27]What happened?

[21:26]She doesn't ask.

[21:28]The prophet sallallaihi wasallam comes in sweating his he's shaking.

[21:33]Hold me.

[21:34]embrace me.

[21:34]She holds him.

[21:35]She embraces him.

[21:37]She comforts him sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

[21:38]And the hadith actually mentions that the prophet sallallaihi wasallam did not

[21:41]speak for some time.

[21:42]Meaning he shook for a little bit and she's just holding him.

[21:44]She's not not asking any questions.

[21:46]She's waiting to let the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam talk about what

[21:50]happened to him.

[21:52]And when the prophet sallallah.aihi alaihi wasallam uh starts to speak the

[21:59]prophet sallall alaihi wasallam the the the the fear had gone from

[22:06]him or he stopped shaking at least at that point oh what

[22:12]is wrong with me I'm worried about myself that's all he said

[22:21]I'm worried about myself and he said that the one who I

[22:30]saw in my sleep came to me because the prophet had seen

[22:36]Jire in a dream before he recognized him and then now he

[22:39]saw him in the cave this man who he saw in his

[22:42]dream and I'm I saw the one who came to me in

[22:47]my sleep and that's all I'm when when he says what is

[22:49]he telling and by the way if if the prophet is fabricating

[22:53]something these first few years don't really add up because there's the

[22:57]there's a prophet who's in uncertainty who's waiting for more guidance who's

[23:00]looking who's waiting for months and months and months and months for

[23:04]something to happen but he's scared I'm worried about myself what does

[23:10]he mean when he says I'm worried about myself >> what is

[23:13]he talking about yeah >> possessed >> that I'm possessed >> that

[23:18]I'm possessed maybe have I lost my mind what happened to Am

[23:22]I have I lost my mind?

[23:24]Right?

[23:25]So he's questioning himself.

[23:32]I'm possessed.

[23:35]Have I lost my mind?

[23:38]I'm possessed.

[23:40]Have I lost my mind?

[23:44]I'm possessed.

[23:44]Have I lost my mind?

[24:17]we want.

[24:19]Cuz why do we listen to speakers?

[24:21]We either listen to speakers if a their opinion agrees with ours.

[24:24]It's not about whether it's does that speaker's worldview correspond to mine

[24:30]then he's an amazing speaker.

[24:31]If he doesn't correspond to my worldview then I won't listen to

[24:37]him or we listen to speakers for easy listening.

[24:39]The more smiling the more we listen.

[24:42]A man a man who has 2.8 8 million views for this

[24:50]lecture on say that's 2.8 million people have listened to him say

[24:56]that the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his family thought

[24:59]he may have lost his mind and Shia Islam is wrong.

[26:00]So, he's questioning himself.

[26:04]May Allah subhana wa ta'ala forgive us all.

[26:12]Same Bkari is prophet.

[26:16]I wonder if this is taken from Samuel when he, you know,

[26:19]when he hears a voice and he doesn't know if it's God,

[26:22]if it's revelation, is he a prophet.

[26:24]He goes to Eli from coming from the tabernacle.

[26:26]I don't know if this is taken from the Bible and someone

[26:29]made sure it did.

[26:32]It seems like a related to the Zuber line and the way

[26:33]they messed about with things and their priests and their storytellers.

[26:36]But anyway, so we go with the flow.

[26:39]We won't attack Zuber just tonight.

[26:41]Now let's continue with the hadith.

[26:48]Now Khadijah then took him to the son of Khadijah's paternal uncle

[26:57]who became a Christian in the pre-Islamic period and used to write

[27:00]Arabic and also write some portion of the injil the gospel in

[27:06]Arabic as much as Allah wished him to write.

[27:09]He was an old man and had lost his eyesight.

[27:12]said to Waka, "Oh my cousin, listen to what your nephew has

[27:15]to say." Waka said, "Oh my nephew, what have you seen?" The

[27:22]prophet then described whatever he had seen.

[27:25]Said, "This is the same angel Gabriel who was sent to Moses.

[27:28]I wish I were young or could live or some other words

[27:33]Allah's messenger asked, will these people drive me out?" And so on.

[27:36]Who is this war, by the way?

[27:40]How is this man giving the stamp of approval to prophets and

[27:44]especially the holy prophet peace be upon him his family?

[27:48]So we got the prophet who's lost his senses.

[27:51]We know that in other hadiths he didn't know what was going

[27:57]on.

[33:05]By Allah, you uphold the ties of kinship, speak the truth, bear

[33:07]people's burdens, help the destitute, honor your guests, and help people when

[33:10]calamity strikes.

[48:40]And they are the masters of the religious paths of course namely

[48:49]Jesus and the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi Muhammad verily is their leader

[48:55]and the most excellent of them.

[48:57]He brought the truth and confirmed the message of the apostles.

[49:24]in the eyes of Allah and the most noble and the foremost

[49:29]amongst them on account of their acceptance of him as their Lord.

[49:32]when Allah took the pledge m of the prophets and required them

[49:35]to be a witness of themselves saying am I not your lord

[49:39]and they said yes verily surah 7 verse172 look at the shia

[49:45]belief that the prophets of Allah already knew they were prophets from

[49:51]toah surah 7:172 come back and verily Allah sent his prophet Muhammad

[50:39]have created the heavens or the earth paradise or hell Adam or

[50:42]Eve the angels or any created thing shake the blessings of Allah

[50:47]upon them and our belief is that the after his prophet the

[50:49]blessings of Allah upon him the proofs of Allah for the people

[50:51]are the 12 imams look at that description of a prophet he

[50:58]doesn't have to go through wrestling He doesn't have to go through

[51:02]fighting.

[51:03]He doesn't need a random to tell him he's a prophet of

[51:05]God.

[51:05]There is none more sublime than the holy prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi.
