الهفهاف بن المهند الراسبي الأزدي البصري (توفي سنة 61 هـ) كان من أصحاب الحسين بن علي. خرج من البصرة إلى كربلاء عندما سمع بخروج الحسين وعرف بغدر أهل الكوفة وكربلاء للحسين برغم نصح أشقاء الحسين له بعدم الذهاب إلى الكوفة لأنهم قتلوا اباه علي من قبله، وقد خرج الحسين فقط إلى اخذ المبايعة من أهل الكوفة الغادرين بالدليل كان الحسين بن علي -رضي الله عنه- اخذ نسائه وإخوته وابنائهم الصغار فلا يعقل بأن الحسين قد كان ذاهب إلى معركة ومعه أهله وكان موقف الحسين من بيعة يزيد بن معاوية هو موقف المعارض، وشاركه في المعارضة عبد الله بن الزبير، والسبب في ذلك: حرصهما على مبدأ الشورى، وأن يتولى الأمة أصلحها، وتلك الممانعة الشديدة من قبل الحسين وابن الزبير، قد عبرت عن نفسها بشكل عملي فيما بعد، فالحسين – رضي الله عنه – كما مر معنا، كان معارضاً للصلح، والذي حمله على قبوله هو متابعة أخيه الحسن بن علي، ثم إن الحسين بن علي استمر على صلاته بأهل الكوفة، وقد كان يعدهم بالمعارضة، ولكن بعد وفاة معاوية، والدليل على ذلك أنه بمجرد وفاة معاوية سارع زعماء الكوفة بالكتابة إلى الحسين، وطلبوا منه المسير إليهم على وجه السرعة[1]
