Michael Allen, a professor at the Washington University in St. Louis, was arrested by police while documenting the unfolding violence against students and faculty at a peaceful encampment, where over 100 people were arrested despite complying with police orders.

1_ يـا ويــحَ مَـنْ تَـسْري الـليالي بِـعمرِهِ
وَلَــمْ يَـجنِ خَـيراً فـي الـصحيفةِ يُـكتَبُ

6_ غــداةَ هـَـووا فــوقَ الـصَـعيدِ أمَـامَهُ
ضـحـايـا وَكــلٌ بـالـدِّماءِ مُـخَـضَّبُ

7_ بَـكـى وانـحَـنى مِــنْ فَـوقِ قـائِمِ سـيفِهِ
ونــاداهُـمُ والــدَّمـعُ يـهـمي ويَـسْـكُبُ

8_ أحـبـايَ لَــو غـيـرُ الـحمامِ أصـابَكم
عَـتـبتُ ولـكنْ مـا عـلى الـموتِ مَـعْتَبُ

9_ إلــى اللهِ أشـكـو لا إلـى الـناسِ أشـتكي
أرى الأرضَ تَـبـقَـى والأحـبـاءَ تَـذْهَـبُ
