As we are going through the Holy nights of Qadr, this brief excerpt from a lecture of Sheikh Nuru Mohammed @sh_nuru he gives us an important message and reminds us about the three fundamental points on how a person should ensure himself to remain on course when it comes to self-discovery and to be on the right track. With the help of the three points Sheikh mentions, it will Insha'Allah help a us take a step closer to Allah SWT.

Shaykh Azhar Nasser gives us a narration from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (A.S) which is found in Bihar ul-Anwar of Allamah Majlisi, Volume 52 and page 190 about the 'end of time'.

This narration can be found in other Sunni sources too and the descriptions of the Hadith are consistent with what the Ahlulbayt (A.S) have told us as well.

At the end of the lecture, Shaykh gives us another narration from Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (A.S). The narration gives us a sense of hope. And it is a narration in which the Imam speaks about the pious and righteous youths that will emerge before the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S) and before the end of time.


Hadith of the Holy Prophet:
ثواب الأعمال: بهذا الاسناد قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: سيأتي زمان على أمتي لا يبقى من القرآن إلا رسمه، ولا من الاسلام إلا اسمه، يسمون به وهم أبعد الناس منه، مساجدهم عامرة، وهي خراب من الهدى، فقهاء ذلك الزمان شر فقهاء تحت ظل السماء، منهم خرجت الفتنة وإليهم تعود.
(Bihar ul-Anwar, Vol.52, page 190-191)


Hadith of Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq:
أخبرنا أبو سليمان أحمد بن هوذة، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن إسحاق النهاوندي، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن حماد
الأنصاري، عن علي بن أبي حمزة، قال:
قال أبو عبد الله جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام): بينا شباب الشيعة على ظهور سطوحهم نيام إذ توافوا إلى صاحبهم في ليلة واحدة على غير ميعاد، فيصبحون بمكة

The Humility of Imam Ali (A.S) explained by Shaykh Azhar Nasser (with English subtitles).

On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of His Eminence, Imam Ali (A.S), we present our felicitations to our Living Imam, Imam al-Mahdi (A.S).

Shaykh Azhar Nasser speaks about the humility and the humbleness of Imam Ali (A.S) that although he was a warrior, a man who was fearless and courageous in every battles but our Imam (A.S) had such a soft heart and a gentle soul. Shaykh also mentions the story about a widow and in this narration, there are many lessons from our Imam on how to be humble even though if we hold such a high position in society.

ـ ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): علَيكَ بِالتَّواضُعِ ؛ فإنّهُ مِن أعظَمِ العِبادَةِ .

Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘You must be humble, as it is one of the greatest [forms of] worship.’ [Bihar al-Anwar, v. 75, p. 119, no. 5]


ـ الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): زِينَةُ الشَّريفِ التَّواضُعُ .

Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The adornment of the noble is humbleness.’ [Bihar al-Anwar, v. 75, p. 120, no. 11]

What is considerably noticeable in the mystical thoughts of Imam Khomeini is his placing importance on young age as a starting point for self-development and self-purification. According to him, the older a person becomes, the firmer and more deep-rooted false beliefs and evil deeds become, and the more difficult it is to rectify them. In addition, unlike young age, man's willpower, like other mental powers, weakens with old age, making the spiritual struggle harder. Hence, in this short excerpt video of Imam Khomeini, he highlights the significance of self-refinement (self-purification) over knowledge and how one must prioritise self-purification over everything.
