More than 40 years ago following the success of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the late Imam Khomeini declared the last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadan as that annual Al-Quds Day in solidarity with Occupied Palestine. Since then, millions around the world rally every year on this day to show their support for Palestinian liberation. This year, the Islamic Republic is paying the ultimate sacrifice for its support for Palestine as the US and Israel wage war on Iran.
On March 13, 2026, the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran entered its fourteenth day. Explosions struck Tehran during the annual International Quds Day rally as U.S.–Israeli airstrikes targeted areas across the capital, killing and injuring civilians. Iran responded with new waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli sites, including strikes across Greater Tel Aviv. Israeli airstrikes also continued across southern Lebanon, causing further casualties, while H*zbollah announced dozens of operations against Israeli positions. Meanwhile, the U.S. confirmed the deaths of six soldiers after a refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq, as reports in Washington warn that the war is rapidly draining U.S. stockpiles of advanced munitions.
Islamophobic rhetoric hate speech targeting Arabs and Muslims experienced a significant surge in the US following the beginnings of the US-Israeli war on Iran according to a report by the Center for the Study of Organized Hate. Between February 28 and March 5, 2026, over 25,000 Islamophobic posts were recorded on X rising from roughly 2,000 per day to over 6,000 upon the start of the war.
On March 14, 2026, the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran entered its fifteenth day. A U.S.–Israeli missile strike on an industrial area in Isfahan killed at least 15 people during working hours, while Iran says its oil exports from Kharg Island continue despite attacks on the facility. Iran has launched new waves of missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. bases across the Gulf, including Al-Dhafra in the UAE, Sheikh Isa in Bahrain, and Al-Udeid in Qatar, as well as Israeli sites following continued bombardment. Israeli airstrikes also intensified across southern Lebanon, hitting homes and civilian infrastructure as officials warn of a possible ground invasion. Meanwhile, tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain high as the U.S. deploys additional forces to the region while Iran maintains its blockade, allowing only limited vessels to pass.
On March 13, 2026 rallies were held in cities across the United States to mark Al-Quds Day, an annual event expressing solidarity with Palestinians and opposition to Israeli control of Jerusalem. Al-Quds Day was established in 1979 by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei following the Islamic Revolution in Iran. It is observed on the last Friday of the Islamic month of Ramadan and is marked by demonstrations and events worldwide advocating for the rights of Palestinians, the liberation of Jerusalem, and an end to the Israeli occupation.
On March 15, 2026, the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran entered its sixteenth day. Coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes hit Esfahan overnight as Iran launched new waves of retaliatory missile attacks, including the first use of its Sejjil missile targeting Israeli military sites. Iranian missiles reportedly struck multiple locations in central Israel, causing damage and injuries, while officials warn Israel is running critically low on interceptor missiles as the conflict continues. Israeli forces also carried out raids in the occupied West Bank and airstrikes across southern Lebanon, as H*zbollah reported dozens of operations against Israeli forces. Meanwhile, energy markets remain under pressure, with U.S. officials warning high fuel prices could persist for weeks.
