Salat is an action we're taught very early as Muslims due to its central position in the life of a Muslim. It is indeed a Pillar of our religion and the Me'raj of the Mo'min as per the hadith of the Ahlul Bayt (AS). However, despite its central position in our lives, we find many of us struggle to concentrate and benefit from the Salat. In this series, we aim to look through the different parts of the prayer, understanding their philosophy and importance through the sayings of the Holy Ahlul Bayt so that we may improve our relationship with the prayer and ultimately, connect better to Allah (swt)

Mulla Rashid Haider beautifully narrates to us the authentic du'a of Imam Ali that was taught by Imam al-Sadiq to his companion in al-Kafi.

The du'a in Arabic:

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الله الْقُمِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ كَانَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) يَقُولُ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الزَّوَالِ اللهمَّ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ بِجُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ وَأَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ وَأَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ بِمَلائِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ وَأَنْبِيَائِكَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَبِكَ اللهمَّ أَنْتَ الْغَنِيُّ عَنِّي وَبِيَ الْفَاقَةُ إِلَيْكَ أَنْتَ الْغَنِيُّ وَأَنَا الْفَقِيرُ إِلَيْكَ أَقَلْتَنِي عَثْرَتِي وَسَتَرْتَ عَلَيَّ ذُنُوبِي فَاقْضِ لِيَ الْيَوْمَ حَاجَتِي وَلا تُعَذِّبْنِي بِقَبِيحِ مَا تَعْلَمُ مِنِّي بَلْ عَفْوُكَ وَجُودُكَ يَسَعُنِي قَالَ ثُمَّ يَخِرُّ سَاجِداً وَيَقُولُ يَا أَهْلَ التَّقْوَى وَيَا أَهْلَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ يَا بَرُّ يَا رَحِيمُ أَنْتَ أَبَرُّ بِي مِنْ أَبِي وَأُمِّي وَمِنْ جَمِيعِ الْخَلائِقِ اقْبَلْنِي بِقَضَاءِ حَاجَتِي مُجَاباً دُعَائِي مَرْحُوماً صَوْتِي قَدْ كَشَفْتَ أَنْوَاعَ الْبَلايَا عَنِّي.
