The Hadith of the Cloak (حديث الكساء Hadith-e-Kisa)

The hadith is an account of an incident where Prophet Muhammad (s) gathered Imam Ali, Imam Hassan, Imam Husayn (as) and Lady Sayeda Fatimah Zahra (as) under his cloak. This is referred to in several hadiths, including within Sahih Muslim, in which Prophet Muhammad (s) is quoted as saying Ahlul Bayt, or the People of the House, from the second part of the Verse of Purification (ayat ul-tahir) holy Quran 33:33.

نادِ عَلیاً مَظهَرَالعَجائِب تَجِدهُ عَوَناً لَکَ فِی النَوّائِب لی اِلیَ اللهِ حاجَتی وَعَلَیهِ
مُعَوَّلی کُلَّما اَمَرتَهُ وَرَمَیتَ مُنقَضی فی ظِللّ اللهِ وَیُضِلل اللهُ لی اَدعُوکَ
کُلَّ هَمٍ وَغَمًّ سَیَنجَلی بِعَظَمَتِکَ یا اللهُ بِنُبُوَّتِکَ یامُحَمَّدَ بِوَلایَتِکَ
یاعَلِیُّ یاعَلِیُّ یاعَلِیُّ

Call Ali, who is Manifestor of wonders, Thou shall surely find him a helper in your difficulties, all grief and sorrow shall be removed. I submit my temporal wishes to Thee on whom I trust and always referred Thee to bestow fulfilment of temporal wishes. O! Having Thee bestowed support, O! Thee Appointed Wali, All grief and Sorrows will disappear, By Thee by Thy tremendousness O! Lord, By Thee by Thy Apostleship O! Muhammad, - Blessings of Thee on Thy Apostle & descendants, By Thee by Thy granted Power & Authority of Wail, O! Ali, O Ali, O! Ali Help!

In April 2012 a group of us were privileged to visit villages on the outskirts of Karbala , Iraq where residents live in the direst of conditions. Sanitation, living environment, little or no access to electricity or healthcare were just some of the conditions we witnessed the very young as well as elderly coping with on a daily basis. The most captivating part of that day was seeing the broadest of smiles on the children's faces when welcoming visitors to their villages. They warmed and reciprocated our affection and playful moments.

In the palace of Yazeed, Imam Ali Al-Sajjad makes his stand and tells the people of his lineage.
