[0:02][Music] Lantern of the path a collection of Hadith by IM ja
[0:11]part nine section 80 striving and discipline Bliss belongs to the bondsman
[0:17]who strives for Allah against his own nature and passions he who
[0:23]then defeats his passion wins Allah's pleasure and the one whose intellect
[0:27]leaves behind the self which commands evil through his striving Jihad submission
[0:31]and humility in the service of Allah has won a great Victory
[0:37]there is no Veil between the bondsman and Allah which is darker
[0:41]or more desolate than that of self and passion there is no
[0:44]better weapon to fight and Destroy them than that total need of
[0:50]Allah glory be to him fear hunger thirst in the day and
[0:53]wakefulness at night when a person possessing these traits dies he dies
[0:59]as a martyr if he lives according to the straight path his
[1:02]end will take him to the greatest pleasure of Allah Allah said
[1:05]and as for those who strive hard for us we will most
[1:10]certainly guide them in our ways and Allah is most surely with
[1:13]the doers of good in chapter 29 verse 69 when you see
[1:19]someone striving harder than you up braid yourself and reproach yourself in
[1:23]order to encourage yourself to do more put a halter of command
[1:26]and reign of prohibition on the self and carry on as if
[1:31]you were a trainer who does not let his Mount take a
[1:34]step unless it is completely correct the messenger of Allah sallallah alai
[1:38]used to pray until his feet were swollen he would say how
[1:43]can I not be a thankful slave the holy prophet s wanted
[1:48]to make his community consider this so that they would not neglect
[1:53]striving toil and discipline in any state if you were to experience
[1:56]the sweetness of worshiping Allah to see its blessing and be illuminated
[2:01]by its light you would not be patient without it for a
[2:06]single hour even if you were to be cut to Pieces No
[2:08]One turns away from it without being denied such benefits of protection
[2:14]and success from Allah as were attained by his forefathers RAB was
[2:18]asked why he did not sleep at night because I fear to
[2:21]spend the night in sleep he replied section 81 contemplation of death
[2:26]contemplating death kills desire cuts off the the roots of heedlessness and
[2:31]strengthens the heart with Allah's promise of Life Hereafter it refines nature
[2:37]breaks the signs of passion extinguishes the fire of greed and renders
[2:42]this world vile this is the meaning of the holy prophet sallallah
[2:46]Al's words to reflect for an hour is better than a year
[2:51]of worshiping that hour of reflecting is the moment when you unite
[2:54]the ropes binding you to this world and fasten them to the
[2:59]next The Descent of Mercy from heaven never ceases when death is
[3:03]Remembered in this way if a person does not reflect on death
[3:05]and on his own lack of any means to escape it on
[3:10]his great incapacity on the length of time he will spend in
[3:14]the grave and his bewilderment at the resurrection there is no good
[3:18]in him the holy prophet sallallah alai said Remember the destroyer of
[3:23]Pleasures when asked what that was he replied death whenever one of
[3:28]Allah's servants remembers this when he's wealthy this world is constricted for
[3:33]him whenever he remembers it in hardship it is expanded for him
[3:36]death is the first station of the next world and the last
[3:40]station of this world blessed is he who shows himself generous in
[3:44]benefits at the beginning and blessed is he who has done his
[3:47]best at the end death is the closest thing to accompany the
[3:51]son of Adam although he deems it to be the furthest away
[3:54]how much man inflicts on himself what weaker creature is there in
[4:01]death life the rescue of the sincere and the destruction of the
[4:04]wrongdoers that is why some yearn for death While others hate it
[4:08]the holy prophet sallallah alai said If a person loves to meet
[4:14]Allah Allah loves to meet him and if a person hates to
[4:16]meet Allah then Allah hates to meet him section 82 good opinion
[4:22]the root of good opinion is a man's belief in the soundness
[4:25]of his heart the sign of good opinion is that whenever he
[4:27]looks he sees with the eye of Purity and virtue wherever he
[4:33]goes and modesty trustworthiness protection and truthfulness are cast into his heart
[4:40]the holy prophet sallallah alai said have a good opinion of your
[4:44]brothers through that you will gain purity of heart and firmness and
[4:47]nature and obn said when you see equality which you disapprove of
[4:52]in one of your brothers then give it 70 interpretations and see
[4:56]if your heart can be at peace with one of them if
[4:59]it is not then blame yourself if you cannot excuse him if
[5:03]you yourself have a quality which will easily make for 70 interpretations
[5:07]then you should disapprove of yourself more than you do of him
[5:12]as Allah revealed to davam remind my slaves of my blessings and
[5:16]my favors they have only seen Exquisite goodness from me so they
[5:20]should only expect that what remains will be like what they have
[5:26]already had from me good opinion invites good worship a person who
[5:30]who deluded continues to remain in Rebellion even while he hopes for
[5:35]forgiveness the best opinion in Allah's creation is reserved for those who
[5:38]obey him hope for his reward and fear his punishment the messenger
[5:42]of Allah Sall Al said relating from his Lord I am with
[5:49]my slaves good opinion of me oh Muhammad whoever fails to live
[5:52]up to the reality of the gifts which come from his opinion
[5:56]of his Lord has intensified the proof against himself and and is
[6:01]among those who are deceived by the shackle of his passion section
[6:04]83 entrusting oneself to Allah the one who entrusts his affair to
[6:11]Allah is in Eternal rest and constant care for ease of life
[6:14]he is above caring about anything except Allah as the commander of
[6:18]the faithful alisam said I was content with what Allah allotted me
[6:25]and I entrusted my Affair to my Creator as Allah was good
[6:28]in what has passed so he will be good good in what
[6:33]remains as Allah said in the words of a Believer among the
[6:36]people ofon I entrust my Affair to Allah surely Allah sees the
[6:40]servants so Allah protected him from the evil consequences of what they
[6:47]planned and the most evil punishment overtook F's people in chapter 40:
[6:51]44-45 the Arabic word for entrustment T consists of five letters each
[7:00]letter having an injunction iction he who heeds their commands brings the
[7:04]T of his abandoning plans in this world the fa of the
[7:07]annihilation of every aspiration other than Allah the wow of fulfilling the
[7:14]contract and confirming the promise the yah of despairing of yourself and
[7:19]certainty in your lord and the do of a conscience which is
[7:24]purely for Allah and of the need for him he who entrusts
[7:28]everything to Allah wake Wes up in the morning free of all
[7:32]evils and at night sleeps protected in his faith section 84 certainty
[7:36]certainty will take the bondsman to every Sublime State and every wondrous
[7:42]station thus did the messenger of Allah sallallah alai make known the
[7:47]immensity of certainty when he mentioned that is walked on water he
[7:52]said if he had had more certainty he could have walked on
[7:57]air by this he indicated that in spite of the Majesty of
[8:00]the place which the prophets have with Allah they also have different
[8:03]ranks according to their certainty certainty is ever increasing and remain so
[8:09]throughout eternity Believers also vary in the strength and weakness of their
[8:13]certainty a person whose certainty is strong may be recognized by the
[8:19]fact that he finds himself stripped of all ability and power other
[8:22]than what Allah has given him and by his keeping to Allah's
[8:25]command and worship both outwardly and inwardly he considers the states of
[8:31]having and not having increase and decrease praise and blame might and
[8:36]abasement all to be the same because he considers them all on
[8:41]an equal level however a person who weakens his certainty attaches himself
[8:46]to external matters and allows his S free reign therein he follows
[8:50]the customs and sayings of people without substantiating them and strives in
[8:55]the Affairs of this world accumulating its wealth and holding on to
[8:59]it acknowledg in and affirming it with his tongue there is no
[9:02]withholder or Giver except Allah and the slave can only obtain what
[9:07]he has provided with and allotted effort will not increase provision but
[9:12]he disavows that by his action and his heart in Allah's words
[9:15]they say with their mouths what is not in their hearts and
[9:20]Allah best knows what they conceal in chapter 3: 167 Allah was
[9:24]compassionate to his bondsmen when he gave them permission to earn money
[9:28]however they might as long as they do not exceed the limits
[9:33]of Allah or abandon their obligations to him and the behavior of
[9:37]his Prophet sallallahu alai in any of their actions or abandon the
[9:40]spirit of trust or become caught in the field of greed but
[9:45]when they forget this attaching themselves to the opposite of what has
[9:49]been delineated for them they are counted among the destroyed who at
[9:52]the end have nothing but false claims not everyone who earns is
[9:56]necessarily trustful from his earnings he brings BRS for himself only what
[10:00]is forbidden or doubtful he may be recognized by the effect his
[10:06]gains have upon him by his insaciable hunger and how he spends
[10:10]for this world without let he who is given permission to earn
[10:15]is one who self gains while his heart trusts in Allah if
[10:18]he has a lot of money he is like a trustee who
[10:22]knows that having property and not having it is the same thing
[10:25]if he withholds it he withholds for Allah and if he spends
[10:30]it he does so in the way Allah has commanded both are
[10:33]for Allah section 85 fear and hope fear is the custodian of
[10:36]the heart and hope is the intercessor of the self whoever knows
[10:42]Allah fears him and sets his hopes in him they are the
[10:45]wings of belief and with which the true servant flies to Allah's
[10:50]pleasure they are the eyes of his intellect with which he sees
[10:54]Allah's promise and threat fear contemplates the justice of Allah through careful
[10:59]awareness of that threat hope calls for Allah's overflowing favor and gives
[11:04]life to the heart while fear kills the self the messenger of
[11:10]Allah s.
[11:09]said the believer has two kinds of fear fear of what has
[11:14]passed and fear of what is to come in the death of
[11:18]the self lies the life of the heart which leads to firmness
[11:20]and practice whoever worships Allah with a balance of fear and hope
[11:24]will not be misguided and will obtain what he hopes for how
[11:29]can a Slave be anything other than fearful when he does not
[11:31]know at what action his record will be closed while he has
[11:36]to his credit no deed capable of helping him no power to
[11:39]do anything nor any place to fly to how can he fail
[11:43]to hope when he knows that despite his incapacity he is drowned
[11:49]in the Seas of Allah's blessings and favors which cannot be counted
[11:52]or numbered the lover worships his Lord with Hope by contemplating his
[11:55]own state with the a of wakefulness and the abson In Worship
[11:59]with fear Alani said to Haram people act in Hope but you
[12:06]act in fear Haram replied there are two types of fear permanent
[12:10]and changing permanent fear brings about Hope while changing fear brings about
[12:16]permanent fear similarly there are two types of hopes concealed and open
[12:21]concealed hope brings about permanent fear which strengthens the connection of Love
[12:26]while open hope fulfills a man's expectations regarding his incapacity and shortcomings
[12:31]in the things he has done during his life section 86 contentment
[12:36]contentment is when a person is content with what he loves and
[12:39]what he hates it is a ray of the light of noses
[12:43]he who is content is annihilated to all his choices he's really
[12:47]the one with whom Allah is content contentment is a name which
[12:51]contains the meaning of servitude and may be described as the joy
[12:57]of the heart I heard my father Muhammad Al say to attach
[13:00]the heart to what is present is Association and to what is
[13:05]not there is disbelief these are the wings of heedlessness I'm amazed
[13:09]at anyone who claims to be a slave to Allah and then
[13:12]contends with him over his decrees content gnostics are far from being
[13:20]like that section 87 Affliction Affliction is an adornment for the believer
[13:23]and a mark of Honor for the man of intellect because facing
[13:27]it directly needs steadfastness and firm footedness both of which confirm belief
[13:33]the holy prophet sallallah alai said we the company of the prophets
[13:37]are the people who have the hardest trials then after us come
[13:42]the Believers then the others like them whoever tastes the food of
[13:47]Affliction while under Allah's protection enjoys it more than he enjoys Allah's
[13:51]blessing he yearns for it when it is not there because the
[13:54]lights of blessing lie under the balance of Affliction and trial and
[13:57]the balance of Affliction and tri trial lies under the lights of
[14:02]blessing many are delivered from Affliction and then destroyed in blessing Allah
[14:07]praised none of his bondsmen from Adam up to Muhammad s Al
[14:11]until he had tested him and seen how he fulfilled the duty
[14:16]of worship while in Affliction Allah's marks of Honor come in fact
[14:20]at the last stage but the afflictions themselves come in the beginning
[14:23]whoever leaves the path of Affliction is ignoring the lamp of the
[14:27]Believers the beacon of those near to Allah and the guide for
[14:32]those on the right path there is no good in a slave
[14:34]who complains of a single trial preceded by thousands of blessings and
[14:40]followed by thousands of Comforts whoever does not show patience required an
[14:45]Affliction is deprived of thankfulness in the blessings he receives similarly whoever
[14:48]does not give thankfulness owed for blessings is denied the patience owed
[14:54]in Affliction whoever is denied both of them is an outcast aam
[14:59]said in his supplication oh Allah verily 70 Comforts and ease did
[15:04]not come to me until you sent me 70 afflictions and wahin
[15:09]said Affliction to a Believer is like a bit to a horse
[15:11]and a halter to a camel aliam said steadfastness in relation to
[15:17]belief is like the head to the body the head of steadfastness
[15:19]is afflictions but only those who act righteously understand that section 88
[15:26]patience patience reveals whatever light and purity there is in the innermost
[15:31]being of Allah's servants while anxiety shows up the darkness and berness
[15:36]inside them everyone claims to be patient but only the humble are
[15:40]firm in it everyone denies his anxiety although it is quite obvious
[15:44]in a hypocrite because the onset of Trials and afflictions tells you
[15:50]who is truthful and who is a liar patience is a sensation
[15:54]that continuously prevails in one's Consciousness but what occurs upon a sudden
[15:59]upset cannot be called patience anxiety is what disturbs the heart and
[16:03]brings the person sorrow changing his complexion and his state every event
[16:08]whose Beginnings are without humility repentance and humble supplication to Allah comes
[16:15]from someone who's anxious not someone who's patient the beginning of patience
[16:19]is bitter but its end is sweet for some people but for
[16:22]others both its beginning and end are bitter whoever enters it at
[16:27]its end has entered it who whoever enters it from its beginning
[16:30]has left it a person who knows the value of patience cannot
[16:37]bear to be without it in the story of M and Allah
[16:39]said how can you have patience in that of which you have
[16:45]no comprehensive knowledge in chapter 18: 68 whoever is unwillingly patient who
[16:49]does not complain to people and does not become anxious when his
[16:53]Veil is rent is counted among the Common People his share is
[16:57]as Allah said give good good news to the patient in chap
[17:02]2: 155 that is good news to the garden and forgiveness whoever
[17:06]meets Affliction with an open heart showing patience with tranquility and dignity
[17:11]is counted among the elite and his portion is as Allah said
[17:15]surely Allah is with the patient in ch 8:46 section 89 sorrow
[17:21]sorrow is one of the marks of the gnostics through the magnitude
[17:25]of what comes to them of the Unseen when they are in
[17:30]the seclusion and in the intensity of their glorification of Allah the
[17:34]outer being of the sorrowful is contraction and his inner being is
[17:38]expansion he lives with men contently in a life of nearness to
[17:41]Allah the sorrowful person is not a man of reflection because he
[17:47]who reflects is forced to do so while a sorrowful person is
[17:50]so by Nature sorrow comes from within and reflection Begins by seeing
[17:54]phenomena there is a difference between them Allah said in the story
[18:01]of Jacob I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah
[18:04]and I know from Allah what you do not know in chap
[18:09]12: 86 this is because the knowledge gained in the state of
[18:12]Sorrow is particular to him and Allah has singled him out for
[18:17]it and left the rest of the world deprived when rabi IB
[18:19]was asked why he was sorrowful he replied because I have demands
[18:25]made on me at the right of Sorrow stands Contrition and at
[18:28]the left of it stands silence sorrow is a mark of the
[18:33]gnostics of Allah reflection is shared by both the elite and the
[18:36]common folk if sorrow were to be veiled from the hearts of
[18:40]the gnostics for an hour they would have to seek help but
[18:42]if it were to be placed in the hearts of others they
[18:47]would dislike it sorrow is first while second comes security and good
[18:51]news reflection comes second following the establishment of one's belief in and
[18:56]utter need of Allah by one seeking rescue with him the sorrowful
[18:59]person reflects and he who reflects takes note each of them has
[19:08]a state a science a path forbearance and honor
