Donald Trump has threatened to attack Iran’s electrical grid- an attack he says could take the country back decades. Iran has vowed counterstrikes, saying; “If they do that, the whole region will go dark in less than half an hour”, stoking fears of regional blackouts.

Islamophobic rhetoric hate speech targeting Arabs and Muslims experienced a significant surge in the US following the beginnings of the US-Israeli war on Iran according to a report by the Center for the Study of Organized Hate. Between February 28 and March 5, 2026, over 25,000 Islamophobic posts were recorded on X rising from roughly 2,000 per day to over 6,000 upon the start of the war.

On March 14, 2026, the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran entered its fifteenth day. A U.S.–Israeli missile strike on an industrial area in Isfahan killed at least 15 people during working hours, while Iran says its oil exports from Kharg Island continue despite attacks on the facility. Iran has launched new waves of missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. bases across the Gulf, including Al-Dhafra in the UAE, Sheikh Isa in Bahrain, and Al-Udeid in Qatar, as well as Israeli sites following continued bombardment. Israeli airstrikes also intensified across southern Lebanon, hitting homes and civilian infrastructure as officials warn of a possible ground invasion. Meanwhile, tensions around the Strait of Hormuz remain high as the U.S. deploys additional forces to the region while Iran maintains its blockade, allowing only limited vessels to pass.

March 16, 2026, the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran entered its seventeenth day. U.S.–Israeli airstrikes hit residential areas in eastern Tehran, damaging aid facilities as rescue teams pulled civilians from the rubble. Iran responded with new waves of missile attacks targeting Israeli military sites, Ben Gurion Airport, and strategic infrastructure, with impacts reported across central Israel. As H*zbollah intensified rocket fire from the north, Israel announced a ground operation in southern Lebanon, where clashes and direct hits on Israeli armor have been reported. Meanwhile, strikes targeting U.S. interests hit sites in the UAE, and economists warn the escalating conflict could severely impact Gulf economies, as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz continue and international support for a U.S.-led naval coalition remains absent.

Iranian officials have accused Israel and the U.S. of conducting "false flag" operations across West Asia- particularly in their use of the reverse-engineered "LUCAS" drones to attack targets in the Gulf and place the blame on Tehran. Iranian Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani recently claimed, prior to his death, that these false flags would extend to U.S. soil, and that Israel is plotting a major, destructive attack to manipulate the United States into a full scale invasion of Iran.
