Then Imam cites a very important verse in the Holy Quran: Holy Quran 9:122 ‎۞ وَمَا كَانَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لِيَنفِرُوا كَافَّةً ۚ فَلَوْلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ طَائِفَةٌ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّينِ وَلِيُنذِرُوا قَوْمَهُمْ إِذَا رَجَعُوا إِلَيْهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَحْذَرُونَ (And it does not beseem the believers that they should go forth all together; why should not then a company from every party from among them go forth that they may apply themselves to obtain understanding in religion, and that they may warn their people when they come back to them that they may be cautious?) When it comes to seeking Islamic education, we are described as having faqaha. There are two levels of faqaha (religious understanding): 1- Everyone is required to learn the basics of religion. This is an Islamic obligation at an individual level. 2- Every community should have a scholar, as stated in the Quran (9:122): “For there should separate from every division of them a group [remaining] to obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious.” This is an Islamic obligation at the communal level.#Hawza #Seminary #Alhujjah #islam #shia #Qazwini

The well of Zamzam had at some point in the era of Jahiliya dried up or its location became unknown. For many years, the Arabs did not know where to locate it. At the time of Abdul Muttaleb, Allah swt inspires him to dig up the well of Zamzam. Abdul Muttaleb makes a vow to sacrifice his son. How do we understand this? Some observations to make about this event:
• Some scholars have likened this incident to that of Ibrahim (as), when he was instructed to sacrifice Ismail.
• It is recorded that the Prophet (s) would say he is the son of the two sacrifices; the first being Ismail and the second his father Abd#Hawza #Seminary #Alhujjah #islam #shia #Qazwini ullah.
• This incident showed the status of Abdullah, as the people saw from the discovery of Zamzam to him being saved by Allah swt, it made him a prominent figure amongst Meccan society.
• The biggest sacrifice made was of Imam Hussain (as) in Karbala. Ismail and Abdullah were saved, but Imam Hussain gave the biggest sacrifice and therefore obtained a great status.

Imam Sadiq (a) said that we should be learned in religion. The one who doesn’t become learned in religion, then he is an a’rabi (i.e. a hillbilly). What does a’rab mean here? They are the Bedouins who live in isolated areas and disconnected from knowledge. Hence, they are not neither cultured nor educated (i.e. they are ignorant). Because of their ignorance, the Holy Quran would highly encourage them to become learned. In fact, the Quran specifically singles out the a’rab: Holy Quran 9:97 ‎الْأَعْرَابُ أَشَدُّ كُفْرًا وَنِفَاقًا وَأَجْدَرُ أَلَّا يَعْلَمُوا حُدُودَ مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ (The dwellers of the desert are very hard in unbelief and hypocrisy, and more disposed not to know the limits of what Allah has revealed to His Apostle; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.) On the outside, they are Muslims, but Islam hasn’t really penetrated their hearts. In today’s society, they are similar to rednecks or hillbillies who typically are not educated, less tolerant of people and may even be racist.#Hawza #Seminary #Alhujjah #islam #shia #Qazwini
