US Government Bans Coverage of American Soldiers Funerals

The U.S. military previously maintained a ban on media photography of flag-draped coffins of fallen soldiers during the Gulf War in 1991 and after the Invasion of Iraq in 2003- the policy was widely viewed at the time as a tool to manage public opinion on war. The policy’s reintroduction in 2026 needs to be met with the same scrutiny, as the US dives into the third week of its widely criticized and deeply unpopular war with Iran.
