[0:01]I begin in the name of the almighty God, the compassionate, the

[0:09]merciful, the one who has created everything in utmost perfection.

[0:13]And may the peace and blessings of the Almighty God be upon

[0:19]his pure and beloved messenger, the peak of his creation, the symbol

[0:27]of humanity, the holy prophet Muhammad Samuhammed and his immaculate progeny of

[0:39]the B peace be upon them, especially the leader of our time,

[0:44]the awaited savior here.

[0:47]May Allah hasten his reappearance and make us all amongst his sincere

[0:54]and dedicated servants.

[0:55]Respected brothers and sisters, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala states in the holy

[1:05]Quran in Bakar verse 253.

[1:11]Three.

[1:34]In this blessed verse, Allah subhana wa ta'ala states those messengers we

[1:41]favored some of them over others.

[1:45]Some of them Allah subhana wa ta'ala spoke to that was a

[1:52]privilege and that is Musa.

[1:53]Some of them Allah gave them special signs and Allah subhanahu wa

[2:01]ta'ala chose prophet Isa to aid him with to aid him with

[2:09]the holy spirit.

[2:12]Illuminate your hearts and minds with a loud salawat.

[2:24]There is a very important and sensitive discussion in our belief system

[2:29]and theology about the status of the imams of B peace be

[2:35]upon them with respect to the status of the prophets of Allah.

[2:40]And many people ask this question.

[2:48]Are the imams of B higher in status and rank than the

[2:50]prophets of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala?

[2:53]I acknowledge that this is a very sensitive discussion.

[2:57]As for our brothers from Sunnah, this is a discussion that they

[3:04]completely reject.

[3:04]They do not accept that any of the imams of B would

[3:09]have a status higher than any prophet.

[3:13]Whereas when you come to the B school of thought, you find

[3:18]that many of our scholars believe that the imams of B peace

[3:23]be upon them, they do have a status higher than all prophets

[3:30]except prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi [Music] But this is definitely a sensitive

[3:38]discussion.

[3:39]Now some people say why is it that we even discuss this

[3:45]point whether they are higher in rank than prophets or not.

[3:48]That's not really something fruitful.

[3:50]That's not something beneficial that we need to discuss.

[3:54]The response to that is that this is a completely legitimate discussion.

[4:02]We want to have an academic discussion to better know the status

[4:08]of if we can prove with evidence that the status of the

[4:11]imams is higher than the status of the prophets that allows them

[4:14]to appreciate their legacy more.

[4:20]This brings us closer to the legacy of these aren't ordinary individuals

[4:25]that we simply are inspired by just like you'd be inspired by

[4:29]anyone out there.

[4:29]They are chosen by Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

[4:33]They are infallible and they have reached the highest status any human

[4:38]being can ever reach.

[4:42]It's perfectly legitimate to have this discussion.

[4:45]But before we have this discussion and we present the evidence that

[4:51]scholars have cited to substantiate the idea that the imams have a

[4:59]higher status, I will share with you two very important points.

[5:02]The first point is that when we discuss whether the imams have

[5:07]a status higher than the prophet sallallahu alaihi we definitely are excluding

[5:13]prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi from this discussion.

[5:15]We don't want anyone to come out and say look at the

[5:19]Shia they say their imams are higher than prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi

[5:23]wasall that is an act of deviation and I say this with

[5:26]clarity if there is any Muslim who believes any of the imams

[5:31]has a higher status than prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi that is deviation

[5:37]and lalal no one comes close to the status of prophet Muhammad

[5:41]sallallahu alaihi we make this very clear.

[5:45]One day, according to a hadith that we have in the book

[5:51]of Alafi, a Jewish scholar came to see Im Ali.

[5:57]He asked the imam a question about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

[6:03]He told him, "When did your Lord exist?

[6:10]When did he come into existence?" Listen to the response of the

[6:17]Imam told him, "Woe upon you." Woe upon you.

[6:28]What kind of question are you asking?

[6:30]When did he not exist so that it could be said when

[6:36]did he come into existence?

[6:37]Allah was always there.

[6:38]He's above time.

[6:40]He has no beginning.

[6:42]It doesn't make sense to ask when did God start existing.

[6:44]He was always there.

[6:45]He's above time.

[6:48]When something didn't exist, then it existed.

[6:51]You can rightfully ask when did it exist.

[6:54]But when something has always been ever existing above time, you can

[6:59]never ask such a logical question.

[7:01]Then the imam told him, "My Lord existed before the beginning but

[7:13]without a beginning and he will exist after the ending without an

[7:17]ending." Look at the words of then he says Allah will not

[7:26]terminate and there is no conclusion or end to his eternity.

[7:28]He is severed from termination.

[7:29]So he is the end of every end.

[7:34]This Jewish scholar was so flabbergasted by the response of he told

[7:43]him are you a prophet because only prophets can speak like that.

[7:47]I see the knowledge of prophethood exuding from you.

[7:51]The imam told him woe upon you.

[8:02]Woe upon you.

[8:04]Don't call me a prophet.

[8:04]I'm a slave from among the slaves of Muhammad.

[8:08]These are the words of Alisam.

[8:12]There is no doubt that the greatest creation of Allah subhana wa

[8:17]ta'ala is prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi.

[8:20]So when we have this discussion, we are not talking about our

[8:23]beloved prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi.

[8:25]This is an intellectual discussion about the status of the imams of

[8:31]B compared to the status of other prophets.

[8:34]That is the first very important point.

[8:36]The second point, those who say, "What's the point of discussing this?"

[8:41]At the end of the day, they're all imams, they're all prophets,

[8:44]we love them, we follow them.

[8:45]No need to have this discussion.

[8:47]The Quran has a similar discussion about prophets.

[8:53]Therefore, if this is a fruitless discussion, if this is an unproductive

[9:01]discussion, the Quran would not have the following discussion on prophets.

[9:04]When it comes to the prophets and messengers, we see that the

[9:08]Holy Quran presents us with two types of verses.

[9:13]The first type of verses, we have two, tells us that there

[9:20]is no difference between the prophets.

[9:22]They're all equal.

[9:22]They're all the same.

[9:27]For instance, Allah states in Bakar verse 136.

[9:31]Do you want to be a believer of Mu?

[9:35]Say the following.

[9:36]I believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

[9:39]Every scripture that Allah has sent down to us, we believe in

[9:45]it.

[9:58]Say, I believe in everything that was revealed to these great prophets.

[10:06]Then the Quran states, We do not make a distinction between any

[10:13]of these messengers.

[10:15]We don't separate between them.

[10:16]We submit to Allah subhana t and accept all these messengers.

[10:21]This is one verse in the holy Quran.

[10:23]So someone can say look if the Quran is saying all prophets

[10:26]and messengers are equal, we don't make any distinction between them.

[10:32]Then why are you dis discussing the imams and the prophets and

[10:39]who's higher?

[10:37]This is a valid question.

[10:42]The response Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala responds to this question in Bakar

[10:47]verse 253.

[10:48]What does Allah subhanaa tala state inah verse 253?

[10:57]The same Quran that tells you don't make a distinction between the

[11:03]prophets and messengers tells you some messengers we have favored them over

[11:08]others.

[11:10]For those who know Arabic, you know what means it means better

[11:15]of a higher status.

[11:16]Allah is telling us in the Quran, I have favored some messengers

[11:21]over others.

[11:22]They're higher.

[11:23]They're better.

[11:23]And then Allah gives us the example of Musam.

[11:26]Allah gives us the example of Isaam.

[11:30]So how do we reconcile between these two verses?

[11:33]Is there a contradiction in the Quran?

[11:35]On the one hand say there is no difference between them.

[11:39]But on the other hand, the Quran says no, there is a

[11:41]difference.

[11:41]I have favored some of them over others.

[11:44]There is no contradiction in the Quran.

[11:47]The verse that tells you don't make a distinction between them.

[11:51]It means accept all of them as messengers of Allah.

[11:54]If you don't believe in some prophets, you cannot be a Muslim.

[11:59]You can't choose to believe in one prophet and reject another prophet.

[12:03]They're all sent from Allah.

[12:04]They all have a message from God.

[12:05]So, you have to accept all of them.

[12:09]And this came as a response to other religious groups who rejected

[12:15]some prophets like the Jewish people.

[12:18]The Jewish people believe in most prophets but prophet Isaam they rejected

[12:22]his prophethood.

[12:22]In fact they called him an impostor and they tried to kill

[12:27]him.

[12:27]But to be a true believer you have to believe in prophet

[12:30]Isa as well.

[12:31]So that's what the verse means.

[12:34]Don't make a distinction between them.

[12:37]Believe in all of them.

[12:37]But then once you come to the prophets themselves at an individual

[12:41]level, of course they had special characteristics that Allah gave them that

[12:48]was not shared with other prophets.

[12:50]Allah gave prophet Isaam virtues and Allah distinguished him the same way

[12:56]he distinguished prophet Ibraimisam the same way he distinguished prophet Musa Alisam.

[13:01]All the prophets and messengers are not equal.

[13:06]Some of them excelled more.

[13:07]Some of them had a higher status.

[13:09]Some of them had a deeper level of sincerity towards Allah subhanahu

[13:15]wa ta'ala.

[13:14]We apply the same concept in the Quran to our discussion.

[13:19]We believe in the imams.

[13:22]We believe in prophets.

[13:22]We're not here trying to stir any controversy.

[13:25]But this is a valid discussion.

[13:27]When it comes to their virtues, who had a higher status?

[13:33]Just like the Quran tells us some messengers were favored by Allah,

[13:36]we say there is evidence that Allah favored theam and he gave

[13:42]them a status above the status of many prophets and messengers.

[13:46]So these are very two important points before we now examine the

[13:54]evidence.

[13:51]So what evidence now do we have to demonstrate that the status

[13:57]of the B is higher than the status of prophets?

[14:00]Let's have an academic discussion here with evidence.

[14:04]The first one, my dear brothers and sisters, is captured from Bakar

[14:09]verse 124.

[14:11]Allah subhana ta speaks about the trials of Ibraim.

[14:15]What is the highest status that prophet Ibraim ever achieved?

[14:22]What does Allah tell us in verse 124 of Bakar?

[14:26]Allah subhana ta states Allah tried prophet Ibraim he completed those words

[14:40]meaning he completed the trial of Allah subhana wa ta'ala after he

[14:45]completed the trial what is the reward that Allah gave him what

[14:49]promotion did Allah give him Allah said I have now appointed you

[15:01]as Then I im question.

[15:03]Prophet Ibraim when he got promoted to Imam was he already a

[15:12]prophet or not?

[15:12]How do we know he was already a prophet?

[15:15]Because someone could say yes say it.

[15:18]Initially after he completed that trial he became an imam.

[15:23]Then he became a nbi.

[15:23]Then he became a messenger.

[15:26]Then he became a khal.

[15:27]So you can't tell me that im is higher than prophethood because

[15:33]maybe initially he became a leader and I im made him a

[15:35]prophet.

[15:36]If someone gives you this objection, how do you respond to that?

[15:42]We know that prophet Ibraimisam was already a prophet because during which

[15:48]time in his life did Allah promote him to the status of

[15:55]imam?

[15:56]when he was young or when he was old.

[15:58]How do we know that he was old?

[16:01]Because when Allah gives him the status of im oh Allah any

[16:08]of my children are going to get the status that means he

[16:13]already had and he already had children.

[16:16]And when did prophet Ibraimam have children when he was young or

[16:20]when he was old?

[16:21]When he was old.

[16:22]The Quran tells us alhamdulillah he says oh Allah I thank you

[16:32]that you gave me while I achieved an old age.

[16:35]So we know that prophet Ibraim was already a prophet he was

[16:38]already a messenger.

[16:40]He was already a khalman.

[16:41]So when Allah subhana wa ta'ala promoted him to the status of

[16:46]Imam, we automatically know that the highest status a human being can

[16:51]ever achieve is what?

[16:51]It's the status of im.

[16:55]That's the highest level that you can reach.

[16:56]Because if he was a prophet and Allah is giving him the

[17:00]status of im, Allah is not demoting him.

[17:03]Allah subhana t is promoting him.

[17:05]He's giving him a promotion.

[17:06]Now I've declared you as an imam.

[17:08]Now you're worthy of being an imam.

[17:11]That in itself, my dear brothers and sisters, sets the tone for

[17:17]this discussion that the highest level any human being can ever reach

[17:21]is what?

[17:22]Is the status of imam.

[17:23]Not profitthood.

[17:23]Prophethood is not the highest status that you can reach.

[17:27]Messengerhood is not the highest status that you can reach.

[17:32]It's im the highest status that you can reach.

[17:37]And the evidence verse 124 of surah Bakar that is the first

[17:41]piece of evidence out of the 12 that I will share with

[17:47]you tonight that will demonstrate Im is the highest level and that

[17:50]the imams of B had a higher status.

[17:53]Let's come to the second one.

[17:54]The second piece of evidence is one mentioned in all Muslim books.

[17:59]It's mentioned in Bkari and it's mentioned in our sources.

[18:05]When Sharif reappears, he will reappear from Mecca and then he will

[18:14]march north towards Medina.

[18:15]He will liberate the city of Medina.

[18:17]Then he goes norththeast to Iraq.

[18:20]He will establish his government in Kufa.

[18:24]After the Imam establishes his government in Iraq, the Imam marches west

[18:30]towards Palestine.

[18:31]Now the Sufyani is ruling Syria at that time according to our

[18:36]hadiths.

[18:36]He tries to stop the Imam because the Sufyani has an alliance

[18:39]with the evil ones and the occupiers of Palestine.

[18:42]So the Imisam has a powerful army.

[18:47]He's aided with by Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

[18:48]Sufyani realizes it's not wise to mess with him.

[18:51]So he makes some sort of agreement with the Imam and he

[18:56]allows him to pass from Iraq to Syria to get to Palestine.

[19:00]The Imam arrives Jerusalem.

[19:03]It's on a Friday according to our hadiths.

[19:07]Now imagine the world is watching what's going to happen.

[19:10]The Christian world is watching.

[19:12]They're about to mobilize their forces because now the Mahi is in

[19:15]Palestine.

[19:16]He's in Jerusalem.

[19:18]They don't know what's going to happen.

[19:21]A global war can break out any second.

[19:23]Bkari tells us here what what happens.

[19:27]I want to read to you the actual text of Bkari from

[19:30]the prophet sallallahu alaihi and this is hadith 3,449 3449 in Bkari.

[19:36]What does the prophet say in Bkari?

[19:46]Muslims, how do you feel?

[19:49]when the son of Mary will descend on earth and the imam

[19:55]who's going to lead the prayer is from you Muslims.

[20:01]The imam is a Muslim.

[20:02]Bkari confirms that Isaam will pray behind immedi from imbalam.

[20:12]They say that on that Friday when prophet Isa will descend and

[20:19]the hadith says he will look like prophet Ibraim he will walk

[20:27]up to the mi ali out of humbleness he tells him who's

[20:34]bat lady and what does batul mean the pure one who's cut

[20:39]off from any sin or any uncleanliness it's also One of the

[20:42]titles of lady fat and Imi refers to Isa with this name

[20:48]with this label.

[20:51]Oh son of Batiam lead us in prayer.

[20:56]Out of humbleness he does that.

[20:59]What does do?

[21:00]He puts his hand on the shoulder of immedi and he tells

[21:07]him and oh the son of the messenger of Allah you have

[21:09]a greater right to it.

[21:12]the prayer is yours.

[21:13]Stand and I'll pray behind you.

[21:16]We'll stand in prayer and Jesus will pray behind him.

[21:20]This proves without a shadow of doubt that the status of the

[21:23]MAI must be greater than the status of Isaiam.

[21:26]Because if Jesus has a higher status, it would be inappropriate for

[21:30]him to pray behind immedi.

[21:33]If you have someone who's higher in status, a prophet of God

[21:36]here, and the salah is about to be performed, who's going to

[21:39]lead the prayer?

[21:41]Of course, the one who has a higher rank.

[21:45]So that demonstrates that the status of imi is higher than the

[21:48]status of prophet Isa.

[21:51]And we know that Im Ali, I im Hassan, Im Hussein, they

[21:53]have a status greater than the Mahi according to our traditions.

[21:59]And that proves that the or at least some of the B

[22:01]they have a status higher than some of the great messengers of

[22:07]Allah.

[22:06]By the way that same hadith from the imams that tells us

[22:11]he will pray behind him.

[22:12]It also states that in the government in the government of Al

[22:21]Mahi prophet Isa will be a minister.

[22:22]He's going to be what?

[22:25]A minister.

[22:26]Now I ask you if you have someone who's the absolute ruler

[22:29]and someone who's his minister and aid who must be higher in

[22:32]status.

[22:33]If prophet Isaam has a higher status he should be ruling and

[22:39]Im ali should be his minister.

[22:41]But the fact that Jesus will be the minister of immedi that

[22:46]indicates Imi must have a higher status.

[22:48]This is the second piece of evidence that we can use to

[22:56]demonstrate this point.

[22:55]The third one and you're all familiar with this one.

[23:00]When the prophet sallallahu alaihi went to debate the Christians of Najan,

[23:05]he brought his family with him and he then the Quran refers

[23:08]to Im Ali as what?

[23:12]To the prophet.

[23:15]The Quran considers Im Ali the self of the prophet sallallahu alaihi.

[23:21]So if the prophet has a higher status than other prophets, Im

[23:24]Ali Alisam also has a higher status than other prophets.

[23:30]That is the third clue or piece of evidence.

[23:31]Number four, this one is really fascinating and interesting.

[23:36]Many of the great prophets of Allah when they turned to Allah

[23:42]and they were seeking the intercession because for instance they made a

[23:48]mistake they forgot the oath of Allah subhana wa ta'ala when they

[23:54]made when they sought when they sought whose shaf did they seek

[23:59]I will share with you two hadiths from Sunni sources if you're

[24:05]familiar with the Look at Alman.

[24:07]It's one of the most important Sunni works of by is a

[24:17]famous Sunni scholar of the Quran and he has a work called

[24:41]Prophet Adam when he came down to the earth and Allah took

[24:47]him out of that garden he cried for many years and he

[24:50]repented.

[24:51]The Quran tells us Adam received words from Allah.

[25:02]After he said those words, Allah forgave Adam.

[25:05]What were the words that prophet Adam said?

[25:10]This is not a Shia book.

[25:13]My dear brothers and sisters, this is a Sunni book of in

[25:18]this hadith that this book mentions.

[25:23]The prophet sallallahu alaihi was asked what are these words that Adam

[25:28]said such that Allah subhana wa ta'ala forgave him in this hadith

[25:33]the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall said these are the words he said

[25:37]Allah told him to say oh Allah I ask you in the

[25:48]right in the status of Muhammad and al- Muhammad and the family

[25:52]of Muhammad.

[25:56]There is no Lord but you.

[25:59]Oh Allah, I've oppressed myself.

[26:00]Forgive me.

[26:01]The prophet says when Adam said these words, Allah forgave him.

[26:12]even is more specific with what Adam says.

[26:16]These are the words of Abdman.

[26:19]Oh Muhammad, are you higher in status or mus?

[26:25]He's asking who?

[26:27]Our beloved prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall the prophet sallallahu alaihi tells him

[26:32]it's not appropriate for one to praise himself.

[26:35]I don't want to praise myself but since you've asked I'm going

[26:38]to answer you.

[26:40]My status is greater than prophet MS and prophet N and prophet

[26:44]Ibraim and prophet Isa all of them.

[26:45]He told him why.

[26:47]The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall told him because when was in the

[26:51]ark and he was about to drown he turned to Allah and

[26:54]he saidham oh Allah save me through Muhammad and al Muhammad and

[27:08]he told him when Musam took the stick and it turned into

[27:13]a snake and he was struck with fear as the Quran tells

[27:15]us he ment mentioned my name and my family and Allah subhana

[27:20]wa ta'ala cast his fear away and he goes through all these

[27:24]prophets how they mention the prophet and his family and then the

[27:28]prophet tells the Jewish man and he tells him and my grandson

[27:33]the mahi Isaam will pray behind him.

[27:36]So we find that this fourth piece of evidence is many prophets

[27:42]seeking the was of the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi and his family

[27:49]and that indicates that the they have a higher status.

[27:51]Let's now come to the fifth piece of evidence.

[27:55]I'll ask you this question.

[27:58]The Quran, when you put it next to the Bible or the

[28:04]Torah, which is superior?

[28:05]They're all books from Allah.

[28:09]The actual books are all from Allah.

[28:10]Sure, changes have been made to the Bible and the Torah.

[28:13]They're all scriptures.

[28:15]But which book is superior?

[28:17]The Holy Quran.

[28:18]How do we know that?

[28:21]The Quran says when the Quran compares itself to other books, the

[28:26]Quran says, The Quran is superior to these other scriptures that Allah

[28:33]sent.

[28:33]It's the best scripture that Allah sent for humanity.

[28:36]So this is established that the holy Quran has more knowledge and

[28:41]more virtues than the Bible and the Torah.

[28:44]Now those previous prophets, they had the knowledge of their books.

[28:50]Prophet Isa had the knowledge of the Injil.

[28:50]Prophet Musa had the knowledge of the Torah.

[28:54]Come to the Quran.

[28:57]who had the full knowledge of the Quran.

[29:04]The Quran says it's sufficient to have Allah as the witness for

[29:11]the prophet sallallahu alaihi and the one who has the full knowledge

[29:15]of the go to the books of from the one who has

[29:20]the f the full knowledge of the ism Ali.

[29:23]So if I im Ali has the full knowledge of the Quran,

[29:26]his rank and his knowledge is higher than prophet Mus and prophet

[29:29]Isaam.

[29:31]And that is the spirit of when the prophet said I leave

[29:38]behind me two heavy things the Quran and my family and they

[29:40]shall never separate.

[29:43]If the never separate from the Quran, you automatically know they must

[29:47]be the greatest creation of Allah because the best book Allah gave

[29:51]to humanity is the Quran.

[29:51]So if Allah tying is tying the holy Quran to a family,

[29:56]you better know that this family must have the highest rank after

[30:00]prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

[30:06]The sixth piece of evidence, this is a inni [Applause] scholar.

[30:20]He says this hadith according to the standards of Bkari and Muslim

[30:28]is it's an authentic and this is hadith 3003 for anyone who's

[30:32]checking the references 3003 which book and we have also narrated this

[30:42]hadith in our sources.

[30:42]What does the prophet say?

[30:43]The prophet in this hadith which Sunnis have said is aith he

[30:49]says The prophet says and I or let me be more specific

[31:01]I'll use even the Arabic grammar.

[31:03]I and Ali are from the same tree and all other people

[31:11]are from another tree from other different trees.

[31:13]Question is the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall higher in rank than all

[31:17]other prophets.

[31:18]There's no doubt about that.

[31:19]We all Muslims accept that he's the greatest messenger of Allah.

[31:23]If the prophet says I and Ali are from the same tree

[31:25]and all other people including prophets and messengers are from another tree,

[31:30]that means we automatically know Im Ali has a higher status than

[31:37]other prophets because he's from the same tree of the prophet sallallahu

[31:40]alaihi.

[31:41]And this is a hadith.

[31:42]The seventh piece of evidence all Muslims have narrated that the prophet

[31:48]sallallahu alaihi said Hussein.

[31:56]What's the translation of the hadith?

[31:59]Hassan and Hussein are the masters of the youth of paradise.

[32:07]Question.

[32:06]Prophet Isa, prophet Musa, prophet Ibrahim peace be upon them.

[32:11]Will they go to paradise?

[32:12]Of course.

[32:13]Who's their master in paradise?

[32:15]Imm Hassan and Hussein.

[32:17]If IM Hassan and Hussein are going to be their masters in

[32:20]paradise, they must have a rank above them.

[32:23]So, I im Hassan and Hussein, we know that they're better than

[32:29]all of Allah's creation except Prophet Muhammad, Imam Ali, Lady Fatim Alisam

[32:33]because they the imams clarified that this does not include these three.

[32:40]After these three, we are the masters of the youth of paradise

[32:43]and that includes all prophets and messengers.

[32:45]And this is a hadith that is recognized by all Muslims.

[32:49]The eighth argument, this one's really interesting.

[32:52]This is mentioned in our sources in the book by Alazi.

[32:59]He mentions that one day who was one of the top companions

[33:06]of Im Ali.

[33:05]He went to the Imam and he asked him a question.

[33:09]He told him are you better or Adam is Mus are you

[33:15]higher or them?

[33:17]The Imisam told him it's not appropriate for me to praise myself.

[33:20]Subhan Allah.

[33:21]He said the same thing the prophet said to that Jewish man.

[33:24]But now that you've asked, I will tell you the truth.

[33:29]Now that you've asked, I will tell you the virtues Allah has

[33:32]given me.

[33:33]I am higher in rank than Adam because Adam was in heaven

[33:37]and Allah made everything lawful to him and available to his disposal

[33:41]except that tree.

[33:43]Now there's a lot of discussion what the tree was, but some

[33:46]hadith state it was wheat.

[33:49]Let's go with this hadith.

[33:50]The Immiam says Allah allowed Adam to eat everything except the wheat

[33:55]of that tree.

[33:57]He was told stay away from it.

[33:59]Yet Adam disobeyed Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

[34:01]He did not take the advice of Allah and he went and

[34:06]he ate from that tree.

[34:06]But I the wheat is halal for me but never in my

[34:10]life do I eat wheat.

[34:10]You know I ali never ate bread made from wheat.

[34:15]He would always opt to eat bread made from barley shah because

[34:19]that was the lowest quality bread available at that time.

[34:24]So the im says Allah has made it lawful to me but

[34:28]I have stopped myself from eating wheat whereas Allah allowed Adam to

[34:32]eat everything.

[34:32]He told him don't eat wheat.

[34:33]He went and he ate it.

[34:35]So I have a higher status than Adam.

[34:40]That's number one.

[34:37]Number two when it comes to Ibraim and remember when Ibraim said

[34:47]to Allah, "Oh Allah, show me how you're going to revive the

[34:50]dead." Allah told him you don't believe no I do believe but

[35:00]I want my heart to develop more certainty I don't have doubts

[35:06]ya Allah but I want you to show me how do you

[35:07]revive the dead show me in this dunya when something is dead

[35:12]how do you revive it IM Ali Alisam comments here he says

[35:14]that's what Ibraim said he wanted more certainty but as for me

[35:22]if you remove the veil from me, I will not increase in

[35:26]my because Ali is at the top of and then when we

[35:31]come to prophet MS he says prophet MS accidentally killed one of

[35:35]the men of so when Allah told him go back to the

[35:39]pharaoh and show him the signs he said this is the Quran

[35:43]says oh Allah I'm scared of them because I killed one of

[35:45]their men accidentally now they're going to try to kill me I'm

[35:47]scared Allah told him don't be scared I'll support You don't worry.

[35:53]Im Ali says, "But as for me, I had killed all the

[35:55]nobles and the heroes of the Meccans.

[35:57]But when the prophet sallallahu alaihi gave me surah Toba to go

[36:03]and recite to the Meccans, I went with full courage.

[36:05]Even though I'd killed so many of their men, I read the

[36:09]Quran till the last verse in their presence.

[36:11]Even though any second they could have killed me, and I came

[36:13]back.

[36:14]So I have more courage than Musa Alisam." And then Isaam, this

[36:21]one's fascinating.

[36:20]He says, "As for Isa, when his mother was pregnant with him,

[36:25]she was in the temple in Jerusalem.

[36:27]When the time came for her to deliver her baby, Allah told

[36:30]her, Miam, leave.

[36:31]This is a temple.

[36:34]This is a masjid.

[36:33]It's a temple.

[36:35]Go to a distant place and deliver Isa there." He says but

[36:38]when it came to my mother said Allah subhana wa ta'ala guided

[36:43]her to thea and Allah split to her thea I was born

[36:46]in thea the ninth piece of piece of evidence very quickly this

[36:56]is in the book which is a sunni book of hadith and

[37:01]this is volume 4 page 331 the prophet sallallahu alaihi took the

[37:05]hands of Hassan and Hussein according to this hadith and he said

[37:09]the following by the way this is an authentic hadith he saysith

[37:13]this is a good hadith what did the prophet say when he

[37:18]held the hands of Hass and Hussein he said the one who

[37:25]loves me who loves these two Hassan and Hussein and loves their

[37:30]father and their mother Allah The prophet says, "If you love these

[37:41]my family, you will be at my status on the day of

[37:46]judgment." Question.

[37:45]If the B have such a high status according to such that

[37:51]if you love them with the prophet, you will be at the

[37:54]status of the prophet.

[37:57]Can you imagine what the status themselves is?

[37:59]If you love them, you get that status.

[38:01]What about them?

[38:03]How high must they be with Allah for the prophet to give

[38:08]them such an honor?

[38:08]That shows that they are the best of Allah's creation.

[38:13]Number 10, the the 10th piece of evidence.

[38:16]This is narrated by Musad Ahmed Ibn Hal and his famous Musnet.

[38:20]He quotes the prophet saying, "Allah has given me vi five virtues

[38:24]in Ali and I love these virtues.

[38:27]There's nothing more beloved than these five.

[38:30]One of them is the following.

[38:33]On the day of judgmental will carry he will carry my banner

[38:43]and everyone will be under this banner from Adam and everyone after

[38:46]Adam will be under the banner of Ali Abib.

[38:49]I ask you a question brothers and sisters.

[38:51]If Ali is carrying the banner on the day of judgment and

[38:53]Adam, Musa, Ibraim, Alam are under the banner, who must be higher

[38:59]in status?

[38:59]If you're lower in status, how would Allah tell you to give

[39:03]the banner and have the prophets under your banner?

[39:06]So this demonstrates that Im Ali Alam on the day of judgment

[39:08]has a higher status than the prophets.

[39:10]That's why Allah gives him the banner.

[39:13]You carry the banner.

[39:13]Number 11, we have authentic hadiths in Shia sources and Sunni sources

[39:18]that the first people to meet the prophet on the day of

[39:25]judgment at the at the pool of kar is who the B

[39:26]peace be upon them and the one who's the guardian at the

[39:32]pool deciding who can enter and who cannot is ali this is

[39:37]in on the day of judgment that's the role of aliam if

[39:41]there was someone higher than I after the prophet, he should have

[39:47]had that role to allow people to come to the pool or

[39:49]not because if you're allowed entry into the pool, you're saved and

[39:53]if you're not, you're not saved on the day of judgment.

[39:56]So that also demonstrates that Imam and the B do have a

[40:03]higher status.

[40:04]The last one, my dear brothers and sisters, this is narrated by

[40:08]the Sunni scholar alakim alakani.

[40:10]He mentions this hadith in his book volume 2 page 470.

[40:17]You can verify these sources that I'm sharing with you.

[40:21]In this hadith, the prophet sallallahu alaihi states there is a banner

[40:27]that Allah created before this universe before he created this planet.

[40:32]What's written on this banner of light?

[40:36]The following is written.

[40:38][Music] The family of Muhammad are the best of human beings, the

[40:51]best of creation.

[40:55]So my dear brothers and sisters, these are 12 pieces of evidence

[41:02]that demonstrate that the B peace be upon them, Im Ali Alisam,

[41:05]Im Hassan, Im Hussein, and according to our hadith, by extension, the

[41:09]other imams all the way up to Al Mahi, they have a

[41:13]higher ranks than the prophets.

[41:14]And we're not trying to stir any controversy.

[41:18]We're just having an academic discussion.

[41:20]I presented the evidence.

[41:21]I welcome anyone who would like to challenge this evidence.

[41:23]I completely welcome that.

[41:26]I will just refer to one objection in a couple of minutes.

[41:30]Very briefly, I did see a Sunni scholar who had a speech

[41:33]attacking the Shia for believing that the imams have a higher status

[41:39]than the prophets.

[41:39]And he says this Shia belief violates the Quran.

[41:43]Why?

[41:44]Because Allah states in verse 86, Allah mentions these prophets.

[41:56]We have favored them over the over the worlds.

[41:59]So he's saying the Quran says these prophets are the greatest that

[42:03]Allah has favored over the worlds and that includes the B.

[42:08]So here the Quran is falsifying what you Shia are saying.

[42:12]What's the response to that?

[42:14]First of all, my question to the Sunni scholar is these prophets

[42:20]that the verse mentions, do they include Prophet Muhammad also or no?

[42:25]Because the Quran says they're better than all of the world, right?

[42:29]All of the worlds.

[42:33]Does that include Prophet Muhammad or no?

[42:35]Of course, it doesn't include him because Sunnis accept that Prophet Muhammad

[42:38]has a higher status.

[42:39]So you made an exception for prophet Muhammad which means the verse

[42:44]is not absolute.

[42:47]Number two means what?

[42:46]That era in their time they were the best of prophets.

[42:52]It is not including all times.

[42:53]How do we know that?

[42:54]Because the Quran regularly uses language like that to refer to that

[43:01]era.

[42:59]For instance, look at two identical verses in the Quran.

[43:04]Al Bakar 47, Alb Bakar 122.

[43:07]Allah says, "Oh children of Israel, remember the blessings I gave you

[43:19]and I've preferred you over." So I have a question to Muslims

[43:26]today.

[43:23]Are Benny is better than Muslims?

[43:27]I dare you find a Muslim who will say yes.

[43:30]Of course not.

[43:33]Why?

[43:33]Because the Quran says the Muslim um the pious ones were the

[43:38]best um that came forth to people.

[43:42]So then what does the verse mean when it says Allah favored

[43:47]Benny Israel over the worlds?

[43:48]It means during their era not all worlds.

[43:52]And so the same responses about those prophets prophet Lu prophet Ibraim

[43:56]they were the pre best prophets in their time in their eras.

[44:01]It is not including future prophets.

[44:03]It is not including the prophet and his family.

[44:05]and als Allah has purified you and he's chosen you over the

[44:36]woman of the world.

[44:37]So a man said to imit it means she's better than Lady

[44:42]Fatim and that's the Quran.

[44:43]The Imam said no was the leader of the woman of her

[44:49]era and her time.

[44:50]But as for Lady she is she is the leader of the

[45:02]woman from the beginning of time and the end of time.

[45:06]And you know what the poet says?

[45:10]Allah let's come let's conclude with this with these two lines of

[45:13]poetry.

[45:14]Let's remember the tragedy of the poet says if you say I

[45:37]say is the pride and honor of Eve.

[45:51]And if you say Mariam, I still tell you Fatma has a

[45:55]higher rank.

[45:56]Give me the evidence.

[45:57]What evidence you poet you want to give me?

[46:04][Music] Does have a father like Muhammad?

[46:17]And did Miam have sons?

[46:21]As many sons as Fat, did she have and Hussein and all

[46:24]these sons, Lady Zanam?

[46:27]Did she have them?

[46:29]And then the poet takes your heart to the tragedy of Fatima.

[46:34]He says when Miam wanted to deliver the baby, Jesus spoke to

[46:38]her.

[46:38]Allah sent her that palm tree with the dates and she peacefully

[46:42]delivered her baby.

[46:44]But as for Fat, remember when she was between the door of

[46:52]the wall and the wall and when Lady F was attacked when

[47:00]she miscarried her fetus and she called back.

[47:08]Oh father, is this what happens to your daughter?

[47:11]Allah, what the experience?

[47:15]no one experienced in history.

[47:17]Raise your hands in dua.

[47:17]This is the moment of dua.

[47:18]We ask Allah subhanana wa ta'ala to bless our gathering tonight after

[47:24]inshallah.

[47:25]Allah accepted all of your deeds, all of your inshallah.

[47:29]Allah subhana wa ta'ala wrote the best year for you, my dear

[47:33]brothers and sisters.

[47:32]Raise your hands in dua.

[47:37]Let's recite this holy verse five times together.

[47:40]form.

[47:47]Amen.

[47:53][Music] Amen.

[47:56][Music] Amen.

[48:16]Amen.

[48:25]for Allah.

[48:46]Oh Allah, forgive us our sins on this blessed night.

[48:50]Oh Allah, if you have not already forgiven us, we ask you

[48:57]in your mercy to forgive us in these rem in what remains

[49:00]in the month of Ramadan, ya Allah.

[49:02]Oh Allah grant us the z of Oh Allah grant us the

[49:11]shaf of Muhammad.
