[0:33]Blessed.
[0:44]Alhamdulillah.
[0:59]Muhammad.
[1:44]My Honorable brothers and sisters, for those people that were here a
[1:58]couple of days ago when we started to talk about the verses
[2:01]in the Quran that start with and we pointed out a very
[2:08]important factor that as a follower of B or a servant of
[2:12]God Almighty here that your purpose on this earth is not singular.
[2:20]It's plural.
[2:19]You're part of a team.
[2:23]You're part of an ummah and a family.
[2:26]Whatever actions you do or represent reflects onto others and that we
[2:35]should care about what happens within our community as this is an
[2:39]ongoing process, a domino effect that goes on for generations after generations
[2:45]after generations.
[2:45]Even to the point where the imams and you know from the
[2:53]hadith to show you the connection that everything is continuous and plural
[2:58]and connected that even when you leave this world you know the
[3:01]three deeds that are never you can say stopping in the terms
[3:09]of their endless effort is that that you leave basically you leave
[3:13]this dunya except three things that will remain that give you endless
[3:17]efforts in hereafter and they're all connected to plural things.
[3:20]A righteous child.
[3:23]How did you get a righteous child?
[3:25]It's by that putting him into an environment as the Quran has
[3:28]said and we mentioned it last couple days ago.
[3:31]Save yourselves and your family.
[3:34]And then that's a righteous soul that stays here that prays for
[3:39]you, you know, that represents you.
[3:41]So that's again something that is continuous that it's plural that's part
[3:44]of a community you left behind.
[3:47]Another thing is knowledge that people can benefit from from behind from
[3:52]sorry they can benefit from and that's also beneficial to others not
[3:56]just for you while you've gone in this often in the next
[3:58]world people are benefiting from you and of course a again it
[4:03]could be an orphanage it could be a mosque but see everything
[4:08]is jama jama so and this is something to show you that
[4:12]when god is conveying to as a group that as a entity
[4:18]as a body together that we should help one another and remain
[4:21]helping other even thinking of of helping those that are left behind
[4:24]while you have gone to the next dunya.
[4:27]You know honestly if I ask you now what is the most
[4:34]preferred act to Allah subhana tala and the holy prophet what comes
[4:41]to your mind first salah most people say salah which is true
[4:45]it is but listen to the hadith here by the holy prophet
[4:50]when when he's telling he asked the companions he said the same
[4:55]thing what what is the best deed love deed to God almighty
[4:59]and the holy prophet people started saying salah zak so the prophet
[5:09]says him listen to this so he says that the the most
[5:20]beneficial or the most loved act to God Almighty is im of
[5:24]course if eman's different levels and then he says meaning to to
[5:32]be a benefit, you know, to help to to be that comforting
[5:38]uh servant to the servants of God.
[5:42]And the most hated deed, he says, and the most hated act
[5:50]to God Almighty is to associate with God partners.
[5:57]And he says, and to be harsh on the servants of God.
[6:01]And this is the this is the matter.
[6:06]This is all from that word to think about it that you
[6:08]are part of an ummah.
[6:11]You know, you know when Muhammad is one of the companions of
[6:18]sad one day he walks in and the imam sees him all
[6:20]like stressed out.
[6:23]He says what's wrong?
[6:25]He says to him, he I don't understand people.
[6:28]You do good to them and they don't respect you.
[6:32]They don't like you know at least say thanks.
[6:36]So the imam says him of self administration self love that is
[6:44]he then the imam explains it to him in a manner to
[6:49]say to to basically to look unto people in a different manner.
[6:51]First of all, when you do an act, you're doing it for
[6:56]God Almighty.
[6:55]You don't do it for for that of Benny Adam.
[6:58]He says, "If you were to look at the old ones from
[7:05]your community, as your mothers and fathers and the young ones as
[7:08]your children and the ones that are the same age as you,
[7:10]as your brothers, would you look at them in a different manner?"
[7:14]He goes, "Of course I would.
[7:15]Of course I would." He goes, "That's how you look onto people."
[7:18]He says, "And if God forbid, and if the devil was to
[7:23]whisper you and say to you that you are better than these
[7:28]people, say to him in your mind, say to the devil that
[7:32]the older people have been on this dunya longer than me, so
[7:34]they have got more rewards than me.
[7:36]And the younger ones, I've been on the dunya longer than them.
[7:41]I have achieved or or probably accumulated more sin they than they
[7:44]have.
[7:45]And the ones that are the same age as you of Zuri,
[7:49]you know what good and bad that you've done.
[7:51]You don't know what good and bad they have done.
[7:54]So when you look at this as a whole you'll find that
[7:58]as a individual when we look at or a servant of God
[8:02]Almighty you'll find that in this dunya as this verse has said
[8:05]in order to go forth every in the Quran we said that
[8:12]starts with it's given us advice as a community as an individual
[8:15]as a servant of God Almighty in this verse here where God
[8:17]says seek help It's it's when you look at as a formula
[8:28]he's seen most people you know we always have this thing about
[8:33]salah which is very important and it is the pillar of faith
[8:36]and it is what the Quran has said that in that salah
[8:43]helps you keep away from all these hopefully if you know the
[8:46]meaning of salah and your connection to God Almighty then you have
[8:51]this to God Almighty but he and this verse God puts that
[8:55]of before that of salah.
[8:59]And then he doesn't say in the he says he got he
[9:05]loves those who are patient and I'll explain to you very shortly
[9:08]here why the honor of being patient.
[9:13]The word is repeated I think at least there's about 80 verses
[9:16]in the Quran about and God says in the God is with
[9:20]those who is patience.
[9:22]It's always about patience, patience, patience.
[9:23]And then God says that those who are patients that their a
[9:28]and their reward is with God almighty.
[9:31]This honor that has been you know pretty much given only to
[9:34]a few people who understand the factor of what patience is because
[9:40]like we said today's topic we sometimes we ask answers like we
[9:44]ask something but we find out the answers later on.
[9:49]We don't know what it is in terms of our uh closeness
[9:52]to God Almighty.
[9:55]To understand is that throughout history, the level of those who have
[9:58]been patient are the ones that usually are embarking onto the next
[10:01]level of their faith.
[10:04]For instance, in the story of prophet Nah, and most of you
[10:09]already know the story of prophet Nu.
[10:10]But have many of you gone deep down and pretty much dissect
[10:17]how God how God almighty told N to basically choose those to
[10:22]go onto the embark onto the ark himself.
[10:24]First of all, N wasn't his real name.
[10:27]According to our to our narrations, his name is Abdar and Abd
[10:30]Malik.
[10:31]No is basically given the word comes from the Arabic word the
[10:38]one that weeps a lot which he did through the especially the
[10:40]the tribulations that he went through.
[10:42]But when it came for those few people to embark on the
[10:49]ark, you can imagine a person that actually called on to God
[10:52]for 950,000 950 years but lived according to narrations for 2,000 years,
[10:58]2,500 years according to but when you know these and these people
[11:04]you can imagine I call them night and day only a few
[11:10]would you know would here to the call.
[11:13]But when it and they would always ask, please no.
[11:17]We've been patient.
[11:19]We need that, you know, we need salvation.
[11:22]And he would say, just wait.
[11:24]Just wait and wait.
[11:24]Now God wants to show within these people that call themselves followers.
[11:30]I want to see who is really patient to to embark on
[11:36]the ark of salvation.
[11:36]So what he does God gi comes down and tells no these
[11:42]are date seeds plant them and when they tree grows up or
[11:48]that it becomes a tree then you'll get your answer doesn't tell
[11:51]him that he's going to get the straight away gets salvation you'll
[11:53]get your answer.
[11:56]So anyway you know that a day tree takes about 8 to
[12:00]10 years to grow until it fruits up.
[12:01]So they reckon N had about 5,000 people at that stage with
[12:07]him.
[12:08]So it wasn't there was a fair bit of people.
[12:12]Anyway, when the when they waited for the 8 years and that
[12:14]you know the dates came out, they all thought, "Yeah, here's you
[12:16]know we're going to get saved now." Then Jubilee tells him now
[12:22]take that date tree, take the dates, dry it, and plant it
[12:25]again and wait for the trees to grow back up.
[12:28]automatically one-third of the people left.
[12:31]Are you serious?
[12:33]Going to wait another eight years.
[12:35]Anyway, you can imagine this process repeated 10 times.
[12:38]So 80 years each time someone left or people left.
[12:43]In the end, the hadith says between 72 to 80 people that
[12:48]number 72 like the companions of Imam Hussein about 80 people embarked
[12:52]onto the to the to the ark.
[12:57]But these people, they said, "Oh, no, no matter what, how history
[13:02]repeats itself.
[13:04]No matter what trials, we'll be patient.
[13:05]We'll wait.
[13:06]We know that you are the prophet.
[13:08]We know that salvation is with you." And this is how this
[13:14]is how subhan Allah selective.
[13:16]And that's why God honors those who have patience.
[13:20]So when we look at this, you'll find that when we look
[13:24]at it, everyone thinks patience is just basically sitting down and doing
[13:29]nothing.
[13:30]That's the concept of it.
[13:31]Waiting for the outcome in a calm and effective manner and you
[13:38]know basically just chilling out and then hopefully whatever comes it comes.
[13:43]That's wrong.
[13:42]That's not that's not patience.
[13:45]That's laziness.
[13:46]Patience is much greater than this.
[13:49]patients as you can see I'll give you an example most of
[13:54]most people have heard of Thomas Edison who was famous for what
[13:58]the light bulb yes so when when you look at when to
[14:06]become to actually make the filament that goes in the light bulb
[14:11]Thomas Edison used over 1,000 filaments and even and each point you
[14:18]know he would use this one had failed, he'd use another one.
[14:21]It failed.
[14:21]His even his assistant said to him, you know, we're not learning
[14:26]nothing.
[14:27]He said, "Yes, we are.
[14:28]We're learning that so far up to this point there's over close
[14:30]to a thousand filaments that are not of any benefit to our
[14:36]cause." Anyway, finally, he finds the right filament.
[14:38]You can It was about 1,000 over 1,200 types until he finds
[14:44]the right filament.
[14:44]You can imagine if he stopped like at 1,199 and there was
[14:51]any need one more time and we and the basically the the
[14:56]right filament was there waiting for him but his endurance his his
[15:00]motivation his persistence to keep going and finding the cause and he
[15:05]was patient finally gave him the right filament to create what was
[15:08]needed.
[15:09]Now when you look at this whole story, you'll find that patience
[15:13]came before because the light bulb lights up.
[15:18]Patience came before what?
[15:19]Before the light.
[15:22]And the filament, not every filament was actually successful.
[15:28]The filament that was successful had to be heat resistant, didn't it?
[15:32]It had to be making sure that it was able to withstand
[15:38]temperatures because if it didn't, it just burnt out.
[15:41]And that is exactly how a believer is.
[15:45]When God puts him in some type of environment, you become like
[15:50]that filament.
[15:50]You have to go through diff these difficult situations and that in
[15:54]order that you can shine in order that you can have this
[16:00]light come out of you.
[16:01]And that is exactly why because we we mentioned at the start
[16:06]of the lesson that sometimes there are things that we ask but
[16:10]we don't see the answer straight away but that later on God
[16:15]is trying to throw show us through his wisdom through his knowledge
[16:17]that this is not the not the right time for you to
[16:22]shine that you're not right to able to go on and confront
[16:24]the worldly aspects in the manner that you are in now.
[16:29]So then what happens is this this filament now or this light
[16:35]that when we light ourselves then we reflect the light onto other
[16:40]people.
[16:41]So when you walk into a dark room and there's a lot
[16:43]of darkness you become that light.
[16:45]Then you hopefully that light fleshes that light will then shine onto
[16:49]other people and encourage them to also light up just like candles
[16:55]do.
[16:55]When candles basically light up one another, they don't extinguish light on
[16:58]themselves, but they still can help other people.
[17:01]And that's what happens with you, especially when you got patience.
[17:03]In America, like I said, to understand that patience isn't just sitting
[17:09]around and doing nothing.
[17:11]Patience is that ability to stand there and also mature and learn
[17:19]and hopefully adapt and at the same time waiting for the income.
[17:24]To understand this better in America here you have something called the
[17:31]queen of the night cactus.
[17:33]It's actually situated in western Arizona and eastern western western eastern western
[17:45]Texas and eastern Arizona.
[17:48]So this what it what's what makes this special this uh it's
[17:54]a cactus bush.
[17:56]It's in the harsh desert.
[17:57]It's there.
[17:58]It's withstanding the harsh conditions.
[18:00]It barely gets any water.
[18:02]It looks like a dead bush for 365 days of the year.
[18:08]It's basically this dead bush.
[18:09]We're standing the the harsh heat of the desert.
[18:13]But for one night of the year, one night, that's why it's
[18:16]called the queen of the night.
[18:20]For one night of the year, this beautiful white trumpet flower that
[18:25]has this beautiful aroma blossoms out of it so people can see
[18:31]it.
[18:30]This tree here, this tree here, when you looked at it at
[18:35]the start, what happens?
[18:35]You saw it's a cactus tree.
[18:39]It's nothing.
[18:38]It doesn't even look pretty.
[18:40]But it was withstanding all the temperatures, all the harsh conditions, and
[18:46]all of a sudden that one day, one night of the year,
[18:52]it showed its true colors.
[18:52]That in fact itself is the whole life of a believer.
[18:57]That's it.
[18:58]I basically should be I should actually be get off the mamba
[19:02]now and say that's it.
[19:02]I left at the peak of the that lesson because if I
[19:06]can understand this this plant is teaching me that there is not
[19:09]not all the time there's something that I can understand and perceive
[19:13]that not all the time I'm going to blossom and show my
[19:18]true colors but through harsh conditions if I put my trust to
[19:21]God Almighty then the outcome will be seen.
[19:26]That's why imaff he talks to you to the to the believers
[19:29]he tells him he tells them he tells like when he's asked
[19:35]he says oh my we are patient so the companion says you're
[19:46]if you know use you know everything how can we be more
[19:54]patient than you he says because We are patient because of our
[19:57]knowledge of the unseen, our connection to God Almighty.
[20:00]We know all this.
[20:01]We know what's going to happen.
[20:02]He goes, "But you are more patient because you are not only
[20:09]are you are followers of us, you are patient about that which
[20:13]is which is unseen." And so you are there willing to stand
[20:18]with us, stand with God Almighty.
[20:21]and at the same time you know go through these trials and
[20:26]tribulations not knowing what's going on you not knowing what door to
[20:30]actually t to break to tap on not knowing that the outcome
[20:36]and this is very hard and when God says even when he
[20:39]describes the believers he says those who have basically believe in the
[20:47]unseen he goes this this this is for you.
[20:50]This is the honor that God has given you, the followers of
[20:56]of the Shia.
[20:55]So when we look at this, we'll find that a true believer
[21:00]knows that during the times when I ask for God for certain
[21:06]things and I'm going through a certain period of my life, I
[21:12]know God is with me.
[21:12]I God knows and feels.
[21:15]And basically he's just saying this is not for the time for
[21:18]you to ripen or to show your true fruit.
[21:21]I'm trying to build things into you, virtues into you so that
[21:25]you can go forth and tackle the everyday obstacles in daily life.
[21:33]A person said I understood the meaning understood the meaning of basically
[21:38]patience.
[21:39]He goes when I started my own tomato farm.
[21:42]He said basically in this world there are those people that will
[21:46]pick tomatoes when they're not ripe and as as we said before
[21:51]tomato is in fact a fruit not a vegetable and that's the
[21:54]difference between knowledge and wisdom on a different point here they asked
[22:01]what's the difference between knowledge and wisdom knowledge is to know that
[22:08]the tomato is a fruit but the wisdom is not to put
[22:11]into a fruit salad So, but what he's saying here, he says,
[22:15]I knew this.
[22:18]He goes, but patience is when knowing that when I put all
[22:21]my efforts in in putting this plantation, I'm waiting for the tomatoes
[22:25]to be ripe.
[22:30]That's why in his says he goes that is the fruit of
[22:39]religion.
[22:38]And he says, but remember I said patience isn't just sitting and
[22:44]waiting there while he's growing his tomatoes.
[22:45]He's got to go and make sure that there's no, you know,
[22:50]the pests don't attack it.
[22:50]He's got to make sure there's no weeds there.
[22:53]Like he's got to protect it.
[22:54]He's doing something because in the end he knows that this is
[23:00]my effort will result in this tomato being of great uh you
[23:03]know great taste and then which a great product.
[23:06]So when we look at this we'll see that Allahh does this
[23:13]many times to an individual that you know we we heard we
[23:16]hear the saying fools rush in but angels fear the tread you
[23:20]all you know basically this is how life is sometimes I want
[23:26]things to happen right now you know I I run in without
[23:28]having knowledge without wisdom say why isn't this happening to me now
[23:32]why isn't my heart being accepted but God's saying hold on a
[23:36]Just be patient.
[23:38]Yeah.
[23:39]Learn this virtue.
[23:39]This virtue is like a muscles, my brothers and sisters.
[23:43]You know, when you when you go or those people that go
[23:45]to gyms, the the muscle in order for it to grow, it's
[23:51]got to go through a bit of pain, you know, bit of
[23:55]intensity, bit of endurance, and so forth.
[23:58]Is that right?
[23:57]It doesn't just grow by itself, but you're you're you're patiently waiting
[24:02]to, you know, to hopefully have a a a bigger muscle or
[24:08]more become more powerful.
[24:08]Patience is the same.
[24:11]I'm not saying that me, this person that's sitting on the m
[24:14]that I've I'm an experienced person in patience.
[24:18]I'll be a hypocrite if I say that.
[24:21]But what I'm saying is that I know by by connecting myself
[24:23]and by training myself like going to the gym that slowly slowly
[24:29]with with with you know with this consistent effort that I'm training
[24:34]this muscle of mine this spiritual muscle of mine that it becomes
[24:38]to the virtue that it gives me the honor of having true
[24:44]patience.
[24:44]And that's why you'll find that sometimes on this point here you'll
[24:50]see that for instance that at the end of the tunnel there's
[24:54]always going to be a bright light but before that before that
[24:59]there has to be a process in which what we trying to
[25:04]do those virtues of spirituality within us have to be rebuilt.
[25:11]Once a person, he says, "I saw a cocoon in the backyard
[25:15]and I saw that a moth or a butterfly was trying to
[25:22]come out of the cocoon." Now being impatient, what I did because
[25:26]I wanted to see this beautiful butterfly, he goes when I went
[25:30]and got a pair of scissors and I slowly cut the cocoon
[25:34]and then thinking that this beautiful butterfly is going to come out
[25:40]and fly away.
[25:39]Like I I actually helped it.
[25:43]Then I sat there and I saw this deformed butterfly sitting there
[25:46]and it didn't move.
[25:47]So I'm sitting there sitting there sitting there.
[25:50]I said maybe maybe I missed something.
[25:53]And then eventually, you know, this deformed butterfly that had fluid like
[25:58]it didn't even look didn't even look nice.
[26:00]He said eventually it died.
[26:05]Then I did some research and I found out that in order
[26:08]Subhan Allah, God this this is beautiful.
[26:11]When God is showing that sometimes that through this something that we
[26:15]feel that is tight and hard that all it's doing is for
[26:20]us to go through this purifies stage in order for us to
[26:22]show our real character.
[26:25]What happened is that this butterfly when it pushes through the cocoon
[26:31]the fluids that are inside the butterfly they they evenly go out
[26:35]to the rest of the body to its wings and to the
[26:39]rest of the body.
[26:38]So exact in in a beautiful form.
[26:40]So that's why God makes the hole so small.
[26:43]So by the time it gets out, the fluids have evenly gone
[26:46]to its body and then you see this beautiful butterfly and it
[26:51]flies out.
[26:52]This how this is how the concept is for us as servants
[26:55]of God almighty.
[26:57]You know this person thought that he was helping that you know
[27:00]I I I couldn't wait.
[27:01]I want to see the end result straight away.
[27:02]No, there has to be some type of trouble, some type of
[27:08]you know trials and tribulation to go through in order that you
[27:10]can fly in this dunya and and you know in this beautiful
[27:17]form that you're meant to be.
[27:18]See even even eagles even eagles have this period of time what
[27:22]they call molting.
[27:24]You know what molting?
[27:24]Molting basically means that the eagles will get to an age or
[27:30]to an area where where they the leaves become very old and
[27:35]stuck to the body.
[27:38]So it loses endurance.
[27:37]It can't hunt as as when it used to before.
[27:41]But what it does, it doesn't give up.
[27:44]It goes through a stage called molting.
[27:46]Molting means that basically it waits for the old feathers to fall
[27:49]off and the new ones to grow back.
[27:53]But I know during this period of time, yes, hunting becomes harder.
[27:59]You know, living becomes harder.
[28:00]But the eagle doesn't give up.
[28:02]It says, you know, I'm waiting.
[28:03]I'm waiting for those new wings of mine.
[28:05]The same thing with with Benny Adam.
[28:07]The same thing with a servant of God Almighty that sometimes we
[28:13]have to wait until those virtues that God is trying to instill
[28:16]in us, they come out, which then helps us keep going in
[28:21]this world.
[28:23]Now, back to the verse.
[28:27]Why did God Almighty put here patience before prayer?
[28:33]And we and we know we know the greatness of what of
[28:37]prayer is.
[28:38]You know the first thing you're going to be asked about is
[28:41]prayer.
[28:42]Why?
[28:44]You see asking for basically seeking through sabar which we showed you
[28:50]now about some a few examples and prayer because my brothers and
[28:57]sisters in this dunya in this world many of us alhamdulillah are
[29:00]believers and many of us find it very easy you know when
[29:05]we hear the adan clock alhamdulillah inshallah all of us do we
[29:09]go and pray you know we we're very motivated by dua we
[29:11]we can do all these attributes that's very good.
[29:15]But that same person that prays, the first moment his business starts
[29:21]to go bad.
[29:23]The first moment he has sickness, the first moment uh everything's not
[29:26]going to his way.
[29:28]The first moment he's tested, he has trouble with his family or
[29:32]his wife.
[29:33]And that all of it is then revealed.
[29:35]You see, he can pray on time, but when it comes to
[29:37]in a situation where he's tested, he's he even he even though
[29:45]literally he doesn't even say it by voice, but within him, he's
[29:48]doubting what God is planning or what God is actually trying to
[29:52]say to him.
[29:53]So this is why the patience part of it is much more
[29:59]important because prayer is basically something that we do every so often.
[30:04]We we set times like God God has set even if those
[30:09]people that pray the extra but there's there's time intervals is something
[30:13]that you carry with you every all everywhere you go.
[30:17]It's not just your prayer mat.
[30:18]So basically this is the virtue.
[30:23]A person, my God, my brothers and sisters, a person can cry
[30:28]in sujud can cry in sujud and have this but real patience
[30:33]is when you fall flat on your ground uh and you're crying
[30:41]but you're crying here in terms of God basically help me in
[30:44]this in this in this bit when I've fallen flat onto my
[30:47]ground.
[30:48]out.
[30:49]I need that that that ability to put my trust and know
[30:55]that whatever I'm going through, it's either a sense of tahada for
[31:00]myself or that of making me better.
[31:03]When God gives you these two attributes together, he's saying together, the
[31:08]patience and the prayers, look at your body.
[31:11]Your body is a clear example that how you need two things
[31:14]to stabilize you.
[31:17]Yeah, we got the stability of your bones because that's what keeps
[31:24]us up.
[31:23]And then but bones don't make you move.
[31:26]Yes, they keep us up.
[31:29]They have joints.
[31:29]What what makes what moves you is your muscles.
[31:33]So that you have one power which stabilizes you and another one
[31:40]which moves you.
[31:39]That's the same when it comes to salah and what stabilizes you
[31:46]is like that of the bones that keeps you very strong.
[31:48]What moves you is the muscle.
[31:51]The muscle here the the the ability to connect to God Almighty.
[31:57]But together they become that force that let you overcome many types
[32:05]of obstacles.
[32:03]A man said that shows you that how sometimes whenever we come
[32:09]types of any type of difficulties and that we have a choice
[32:15]and to to either be patient or be impatient.
[32:17]There was a one of the servants of Kasrov.
[32:19]He was like a king of Persia.
[32:24]He had a very bad day and he took it out on
[32:25]one of his visors.
[32:27]So when he the visor came in was trying to advise him
[32:32]something.
[32:33]He he didn't take the advice of the visor.
[32:37]Even though the visor was a faithful person because he was in
[32:39]that state of anger.
[32:39]He made the wrong decision.
[32:42]He threw the visor into the prison.
[32:44]Anyway, first day, second day, third day, he was in there several
[32:50]days.
[32:48]Finally, when he calmed down, he remembered, "Oh my god, my visor.
[32:55]I threw him in the basically in the prison.
[32:56]Go and check up on him." When they went to check up
[33:02]on him, they see that he's he's in a in a in
[33:07]a state of contempt and they're shocked.
[33:09]They go, "Even the God says, we even we know that you
[33:13]were thrown in prison for the wrong reason.
[33:14]How do you maintain this ability?" He says because God has given
[33:21]me several virtues that I hold on to that keeps me knowing
[33:23]that whatever I go through in this world holding on to these
[33:30]virtues makes me overcome any type of hardships that I go through.
[33:33]He says okay what is it?
[33:34]He goes the first one is because when you look at even
[33:40]though it's a threeletter word but in itself in a package it
[33:43]has everything combined together.
[33:43]It's full it's full of faith.
[33:45]It's full of patience.
[33:47]It's full of perseverance.
[33:47]It's full of compassionate.
[33:50]Huh?
[33:51]It's everything.
[33:52]It's in one package.
[33:53]Even though in Arabic it's three words, it's full of everything.
[33:57]So when he says the first thing is, he says in even
[34:02]itself, my brothers and sisters, is on different levels.
[34:05]We always say, okay, what type of what is it?
[34:10]You know, there's there's a tawacul, for instance, between a client and
[34:14]he's an attorney that you rely on the attorney, you know, to
[34:18]hopefully get you out of trouble.
[34:20]That's that's a type of there's another the next level of is
[34:22]the or the reliance between the mother and the child.
[34:26]You know, the mother and the child looks up to the mother
[34:30]for everything.
[34:29]But the highest level of Tawakul is basically my God prolong your
[34:34]lives is that of a dead body between the hands of those
[34:40]who wash him or wash her.
[34:42]Basically you you're you've given everything you're saying to these people you
[34:47]know what or to whatever the situation you look after me.
[34:51]That's the highest level of tawak.
[34:52]He says the first one is he said the third thing or
[34:56]the second the second thing he says there are things in my
[34:58]life that are out of my own hand.
[35:03]God's putting me through something to test me.
[35:04]90% of the things that we go through is in our hands.
[35:11]10% is in is not you know it's not in our hands.
[35:14]And that's why they have the they have this thing called the
[35:17]9010% rule.
[35:19]And sometimes sometime you know the way we react in a certain
[35:27]situation uh differs for each and every one of us.
[35:28]You know the 90% rule for instance I give you an example
[35:33]you know in the in the desert of Havana there's what they
[35:35]call the wild wild horse effect.
[35:41]The wild horse effect is that bats sometimes they attack the horses.
[35:44]They only take a little bit of blood from them something very
[35:47]small.
[35:48]But the way the horse reacts, it reacts in a in a
[35:53]manner that it goes like basically haywall goes crazy everywhere and it
[35:57]actually collapses from exhaustion.
[35:58]But the the amount of blood that it took from the horse
[36:02]was something minimal but still look at the effect of it.
[36:07]And this happens to people sometimes.
[36:09]So something very small happens but the reaction is very big.
[36:13]My brothers and sisters, the whole water of the ocean can never
[36:19]sink a ship unless it gets inside like inside inside the ship
[36:23]itself.
[36:24]So unless you get that that thing that played on your mind
[36:29]or that situation that came across that flat tire or you know
[36:32]or the job you didn't get or someone really said a couple
[36:36]of words to you that really made you angry and if you
[36:39]let that reside within you that's what that's what brings you down.
[36:44]He's saying to him that I know that whatever you know whatever
[36:49]happened God's trying to test me something.
[36:50]There's things that are out of my hand, but 90% of the
[36:54]things are in my hand.
[36:56]I I'm in this prison.
[36:56]I can control the way I think.
[36:58]He says, "What's the third thing?" He said, "Stefastness." See, they're all
[37:03]part of patience.
[37:03]They're all part of pat steadfastness.
[37:06]The best thing I can describe to you about steadfastness is the
[37:14]lighthouse that stands there, you know, on the peak of the ocean.
[37:17]standing there and it's and it's waiting to you know to give
[37:20]people light and guidance but at the same time it has to
[37:27]with withhold the crushing waves you know the conditions even when it's
[37:31]calm it still stays there they people don't put they don't put
[37:34]lighouses somewhere where it's safe they put them right in the peak
[37:42]there to withstand the the the different conditions of the the So
[37:47]you find that steadfastness if you can describe the Islamic religion it
[37:55]is 100% is so because when you consistently do something and you
[38:02]consistently have that effect that I'm going to be patient I'm going
[38:05]to you know train myself to do in this manner then this
[38:10]what what what drives you on forth to accomplish another thing the
[38:16]fourth one is what basically describes what we go into.
[38:22]Now the fourth one he says in this prison I had a
[38:24]choice to be patient or to be impatient and that's that's people
[38:32]choose people to choose to which victory do they want to be
[38:35]patient or to be impatient to wait for an outcome that I
[38:40]know there's going to be a light at the end of the
[38:44]tunnel this is the true act of patient he says and the
[38:46]fifth thing to know even though I was thrown in this prison
[38:49]I know there is someone out there that's doing it much much
[38:54]harder than me.
[38:56]Look what's going on in the world today.
[38:57]We've been bombarded, you know, and it this this attack upon especially
[39:05]the believers, but this attack that's always been consistent and and the
[39:11]attack has been with those that who that are on the truth.
[39:16]That's why when you look at for instance another one a combination
[39:21]with okay the h is who everyone knows when you look at
[39:40]this that's why we are attacked that's why with the huck and
[39:43]and patience together with hali is patience with is patience.
[39:48]But in this patience that we are willing to say that we
[39:50]have karma or we have this integrity this honor that you will
[39:55]not bring us down because we hold on to something and we
[39:57]look and we follow in the footsteps of that of this is
[40:06]it that without Ali there's no dean because have have told you
[40:12]through their lives that each and every one of them had to
[40:15]be patient.
[40:17]How long was I imm patient for?
[40:18]How many years was his rights you served?
[40:22]When I im Hassan Alisam, Imam Hussein, everyone their rights were taken,
[40:28]taken, taken, but they still able to show to shine.
[40:31]They still the patient because there was a bigger cause.
[40:35]So when we look at this, he said there are people out
[40:39]there that are always worse than you.
[40:41]No matter what you think, what situation you've gone through, believe me.
[40:45]Believe me, believe me, you're at least I know for instance in
[40:50]Australia, even the drinking water that we put, god forbid, in the
[40:54]toilet is clean water.
[40:54]You don't have to go and travel kilometers to get filtered and
[41:00]disgusting water in some countries around the world.
[41:05]Just simp that we see the blessings of God Almighty does on
[41:09]a on a daily base.
[41:13]And then he said the last one which is now the sixth
[41:15]attribute he says that that after difficulties there's always going to be
[41:23]and he said to him see you came now to pick me
[41:26]up didn't you this is how it is this is what patience
[41:28]is my brothers and sisters patience when you look at it even
[41:35]psychologists psychologists they have this concept that patience is broken up into
[41:39]three categories they say it not we But we have something similar.
[41:42]There is something called interpersonal patience.
[41:46]There's hardship patience.
[41:48]Yeah.
[41:49]And there's everyday as everyday patience.
[41:51]Sorry.
[41:53]And then hardship patience or daily hassle patience.
[41:58]So interpersonal patience is the patience that we now we said that
[42:01]we're in um didn't we not say that that we have to
[42:02]deal with one another.
[42:04]We have to deal with the aspects of not everyone you know
[42:06]everyone's on a different types of level when it comes to their
[42:11]faith.
[42:10]Interpersonal patience is the patience that you display when you interact with
[42:15]people.
[42:17]And remember the in the first speech that I said that when
[42:22]you interact with people, you're trying to to look deeply inside inside
[42:27]the personality of that people and talk to them in a manner
[42:31]talk to a manner where you can absorb them and bring them
[42:35]closer to you.
[42:37]Look at the way B used to to talk with when they
[42:39]had the most rudest of people.
[42:42]The Quran says call onto people.
[42:52]call onto people in this, you know, this great example and wisdom,
[42:59]right?
[43:00]And and but pay you back in something better.
[43:05]Even if they're rude for you, even if that, you know, I
[43:07]was I always told people that when you're interacting with people, it's
[43:11]like the north and south poles of magnets.
[43:14]If you have, you know, two north poles and they start yelling
[43:17]at each other, they're going to repel.
[43:20]Someone has to come up and say, you know what, I want
[43:23]to be the south pole or or the opposite pole.
[43:26]I'm going to be the one that brings that person closer to
[43:28]the religion.
[43:30]The whole of the religion is based on with this patience of
[43:33]interaction of your that's that's what's basic recorded me.
[43:40]If I look at it now, it's a tripod and the tripod
[43:45]is made of three stands.
[43:48]I personally think in our religion yes we hold on to the
[43:51]Quran and the B they are two legs of the stand of
[43:55]the tripod but without the third one being your it's to no
[43:57]avail but when you have the three of them the Quran and
[44:02]then you like that camera you start to see people who they
[44:10]really are.
[44:09]So this is what we call inter yeah interpersonal patience.
[44:15]The third the second type of patience is that of what we
[44:19]call uh daily hassle patience.
[44:23]The the the things that we we we can you know go
[44:28]on um to basically through our daily lives and still hope hopefully
[44:35]find a u a manner to to overcome this.
[44:39]Like I said, we said we we kind of said before the
[44:42]the factor of going going to work to a very very important
[44:49]meeting and you find that you got a flat tire, you know,
[44:51]getting every single red light.
[44:53]This is what we call daily hassle patience.
[44:55]It's not it's there's you got to show basically a bit more
[45:02]um motivation when it comes to this.
[45:05]And the last one is what we call personal your own personal
[45:08]uh fighting uh patience.
[45:11]They call it personal patience.
[45:13]So when we look at these we'll find that Islam itself we
[45:19]said that you also Islamically we are three types of we have
[45:25]when it comes to when you you know in your obedience to
[45:28]God almighty and we have we have when it comes to that
[45:36]of trials and tribulations and then he says we have when it
[45:39]comes to that of being testing in God forbid when it comes
[45:44]to sin.
[45:45]Each one of them I could expand on now and basically go
[45:49]further but I don't want to.
[45:50]I want you to use your own you can say mindset to
[45:55]find that when it comes to this that sums it up in
[46:00]another hadith he says it's the soldier of the faithful and like
[46:07]a soldier who is being put in this basically barricades when the
[46:12]soldier is inside his you know base he's got his uniform on
[46:18]even though he's got his weapons and so forth and that inside
[46:21]the base, they're pretty much safe.
[46:23]He says, "But a real soldier go when they go out into
[46:28]the real world and they confront their enemies and they're going to
[46:31]be always, you know, they got to be when to charge, when
[46:35]not to charge." You know, sometimes I have to stay in this
[46:38]ditch that I've made or this place for a long time to
[46:41]make sure that I, you know, don't get myself cured.
[46:43]I always got to be alert around my environment.
[46:46]So everything the imam has said describes he say when he says
[46:49]that the patience is the soldier of the believer this is what
[46:53]it is that you're always alert you're always connected connected to Allah
[46:57]that's why the says it's the last of God actually repeats patience
[47:14]and steadfastness two two or three times in Yeah.
[47:16]Hospital what tah have tawa have this god conscious then you'll be
[47:24]successful then you know the outcome know oh servant of mine that
[47:28]if you hold on to these things that we said in the
[47:32]at the before hold on to grow not just hold on to
[47:44]it form and develop patience.
[47:45]within you like that muscle make it grow into you that it
[47:50]becomes the leading factor in your body that becomes that of steadfastness
[47:53]that becomes that of knowing how a servant reacts then that helps
[47:59]you in your prayers then that helps you in your daily activities
[48:02]that helps you with your interaction with Benny Adam it is the
[48:05]driving force my brothers and sisters do you know there is a
[48:11]special you know when your deeds when you put into the grave
[48:13]my god prolonging your lives.
[48:14]God says like you know the salah's on this on the right
[48:18]hand side the zakat's on the the the left hand side like
[48:21]all that basically it's around you but then God gives a n
[48:26]a light to the servant and it covers everything and they they
[48:29]and say what is that he goes that's his patience he showed
[48:34]patience in all of these acts and that nord of his is
[48:38]going to make him distinguish between all my other servants on the
[48:42]day of judgment we ask Allahh first the hast appearance of we
[48:46]ask Allah that he does not take us out of this world
[48:50]except he is pleased with us.
[48:50]We ask Allahh to give us the of Yes.
