[5:48]so does that mean my lambo will get me closer to allah
[5:51]much faster zero to sixty insha allah i mean once we get
[5:57]that lambo so please help me welcome our distinguished guest to the
[6:06]stage after allah um it's a pleasure to be here uh so
[6:36]i think okay i think we can uh start off with just
[6:39]like a brief introduction uh would you like to go first just
[6:43]tell us a little bit about yourself and what you're doing [Music]
[7:00]foreign first of all thank you guys for again coming out um
[7:08]masha'allah it's the first time i really see it heavier on the
[7:13]brothers side than the sister's side so this is this is something
[7:20]that's um kind of weird to look at from from up here
[7:23]but alhamdulillah this is good this is good yes it's more inclined
[7:29]than us so it's it's it's good um so overall um alhamdulillah
[7:38]i've kind of taken uh perspective on this to kind of move
[7:41]to the side of understanding money like why is money important why
[7:47]are finance is important what does it mean to be financially empowered
[7:52]with with me what i did is tried to understand that because
[7:57]in the beginning i had a really weird understanding of of money
[8:06]i didn't know how to think about money especially religion what does
[8:09]it say about money and a lot of us we struggle with
[8:14]that should i seek should i go should i or is money
[8:18]money is evil it's the root of all evil even says that
[8:20]in the bible so i went on a journey and to try
[8:26]to figure that out i was reading books i was going through
[8:29]stuff and i just i needed to know so what i did
[8:39]is i really took a hard line and just went for certain
[8:43]things that i wanted to achieve and when i did that i
[8:50]became the vb uh vp visited the vp of business development for
[8:53]um like a multi-million dollar company i was the national sales director
[9:02]for you know for a certain company as well and i began
[9:05]to understand okay is it the money that makes you or are
[9:10]you that may are you the person who makes the money which
[9:14]controls which thing controls which when i did that i actually went
[9:20]through a phase where i started speaking and i started speaking on
[9:25]a corporate level i was on stage with people like les brown
[9:29]david goggins jerick robbins the son of tony robbins and i was
[9:36]representing at that kind of level and it's those are like the
[9:43]top people in the motivational industry so when i kind of was
[9:47]sharing that stage through the company obviously i was working for and
[9:51]it was a great company you begin to realize the kind of
[9:56]empowerment that you can attain through financial stability financial strength an ability
[10:05]to move and not just move people within our culture i have
[10:13]many clients who are not within our faith not within our language
[10:20]not within i have people from all over the world and it
[10:24]gave me a stage to speak at a completely different level i
[10:29]got then nominated to speak headquarters of amazon then from there i
[10:38]had a ted talk and just things keep building from one step
[10:42]to the next when i decided to kind of move on from
[10:47]there i what i did is basically i i started becoming a
[10:53]a coach a life coach empowerment coach and what i do overall
[11:03]is i take your life and i help you manage it at
[11:06]a completely different level and basically it's a six step process it's
[11:11]finances family and relationships self-development slash character development spirituality community and networking
[11:21]and your own health these are the six categories you have to
[11:27]balance in life and once you understand that it's amazing when people
[11:32]start coming up through this program and in certain companies that was
[11:36]involved with you have 20 you have people who are like 22
[11:40]to 25 years of age some of them making two hundred to
[11:45]five hundred thousand dollars a year that's a lot of money but
[11:49]these programs can really help you get to a whole nother level
[11:53]and we will discuss further what it means to have money how
[11:58]do you take money and you actually empower yourself as a person
[12:02]and not just empowerment in terms of being able to buy something
[12:07]no empower your own heart where you take yourself to another level
[12:12]and you utilize money in the right way and the right path
[12:15]and what happens there where you take yourself spiritually to another level
[12:19]you can be a financial giant but a spiritual giant as well
[12:25]through money how do you utilize that that's the key so we'll
[12:29]talk about that a little bit as we move forward but that's
[12:32]what i do now i'm essentially a life coach and i speak
[12:38]allah you know alhamdulillah i've been almost all over the united states
[12:43]i've been overseas as well and i'm grateful to have um kind
[12:49]of stepped into those shoes because i i really enjoy and i
[12:52]love what i do and i love empowering people and i love
[12:56]showing people that okay you know what you could do something that's
[13:01]really phenomenal and i'll give you a quick example and do with
[13:07]this um just one of my clients just got to be we
[13:10]were together last year and just today he called me and he's
[13:17]like i just became the ceo of the whole company which is
[13:20]a huge company and we were sitting down and once we sat
[13:27]down last year he told me is that possible i said anything
[13:31]is possible and he actually did it this is the power you
[13:37]want to go after but at the end of the day your
[13:39]shoulders have to hold that weight so thank gosh so my background
[13:48]isn't as exciting as sasha sams uh but um for me like
[13:51]i guess like just to kind of summarize that i uh i'm
[13:55]still like on the journey to it still learning uh and then
[13:59]something that uh the hajj mentioned is you know does the money
[14:03]define you uh or is it you that brings the money you
[14:07]know and so that's kind of like where i'm at right now
[14:10]is just kind of like reflecting on that and then and then
[14:14]just kind of understanding how money and character and ambition and uh
[14:17]you know having a vision in life uh how that plays a
[14:21]role in your income you know um so actually has since since
[14:27]i mentioned that again i actually wanted to talk to you about
[14:30]it uh some more and and that is like you know how
[14:32]does money define a person you know does the money define them
[14:38]or you know is it the other way around i i think
[14:40]that's an excellent question and let me just say right off the
[14:47]bat what our religion states about money we have to understand this
[14:51]because there's a major misunderstanding and a concept that needs to be
[14:54]kind of eradicated that there's two concepts contentment and asceticism which is
[15:06]contentment you know and asceticism which is we take these concepts to
[15:11]be content to be satisfied i should be satisfied with the lowest
[15:15]amount of money i should be satisfied by disconnecting myself from this
[15:21]world i should be you know i should be indifferent you know
[15:26]to having money is that what it means that's not what it
[15:30]means it's a wrong way of understanding so we have to understand
[15:36]those two concepts so the first thing is money is not evil
[15:40]it's not an evil thing what you do with money is evil
[15:46]when we understand that and i can sit here and tell you
[15:53]that some people do a lot of crazy things using the quran
[15:57]and they justify it through that so anything can be looked at
[16:01]as evil but it's what the people who what you do with
[16:06]it at the end of the day so we have to get
[16:07]that out of the way when you understand that money is not
[16:11]evil then you begin to understand okay so should i pursue it
[16:19]how should i think about it how should i feel should i
[16:23]love money should i not love money wait wait something love money
[16:26]what are you something wrong with you it's a nama of allah
[16:36]to love it as a means to allah it's the most beautiful
[16:43]thing you can have it's part of your own spirituality so these
[16:48]two meanings don't mean that you should settle and take the religion
[16:56]and it holds you around your neck and you should never try
[17:00]to accumulate any kind of wealth or assets in this life because
[17:05]we blame the religion for that the religion doesn't say that it
[17:10]literally in the quran it says it says wealth and children are
[17:20]the dormants of this world but further we'll get into it a
[17:25]little bit further but at the end of the day we have
[17:28]to get that concept out of the way money is not evil
[17:34]seeking money is not evil as long as money is a means
[17:35]to attaining the hereafter and money becomes a means of you giving
[17:40]it to other people you taking care of your community you giving
[17:46]your knowledge when you need to that's what you why you strive
[17:50]for that so you connect it on that level and i'll finish
[17:56]with this in the quran it says allah states that surely the
[18:10]hereafter is better for you than the now the target is there
[18:14]that's what we have to understand if you connect zohid and riddha
[18:19]properly you will realize that the end goal is where it's the
[18:25]hereafter in surely you're going to meet allah the goal is to
[18:33]get to who allah that's the first you'll attain the first level
[18:39]there the second is this it states on that level now you
[18:50]start to understand i need to go after this world but for
[18:55]what reason for what reason so i can accumulate to help others
[19:04]to do the right thing and i'm not attached my heart is
[19:08]not attached to the money my heart is attached where to the
[19:15]hereafter this is the key point in terms of checking your own
[19:20]heart here's the key you want to know if you have it
[19:23]if you have truly if you have indifference in your heart when
[19:27]you lose something when you lose money you make a bad deal
[19:33]your stocks go down what happens to your heart in the quran
[19:40]it states don't get upset about what you have lost and don't
[19:47]get over excited with what you will with what you have gained
[19:52]that's so on that level the quran states that so when you
[19:59]lose something are you attached to it do you get mad are
[20:07]you upset or when you gain something do you start showing off
[20:12]do you want the people to see check your heart when that
[20:19]happens and you'll know if you are truly attached to material or
[20:23]attached where to the hereafter if it's truly a means and you
[20:31]lose it it doesn't matter because you're hitting your target anyway if
[20:36]it's truly a means and you say to yourself money is a
[20:41]means to allah so that's these two concepts we have to define
[20:45]in terms of you have to kind of sign those on your
[20:51]own heart contentment and what indifference of the heart you have to
[20:55]understand the emotional code first so actually as you were speaking i
[21:01]remembered something so at work i never mentioned what i do so
[21:06]uh like career-wise i i'm a sales manager at uh at a
[21:08]local business uh and so part of my job is training you
[21:11]know the sales staff and overseeing you know all their sales and
[21:16]stuff um and and part of that is also like getting involved
[21:17]in their personal lives you know and understanding like what kind of
[21:20]goals they have for themselves that they're trying to achieve and then
[21:23]how can they make their job kind of be a means to
[21:26]getting to those goals and so something that my my trainer taught
[21:29]me and that i pass on to you know the sales staff
[21:32]is i tell them you know what's your what's your target that
[21:34]you're trying to reach um and there's a reason why i call
[21:37]it a target and not a goal so a target is where
[21:40]you want to be at the end right so like as i
[21:42]mentioned the hereafter would be your target and then between the you
[21:45]and the target you got to have goals right and those goals
[21:49]are going to get you the means to getting to the target
[21:53]and then you know from there once you hit those goals it
[21:55]can go either way you know your reaction and how you react
[21:58]once you hit those goals it can determine you know whether you're
[22:01]still on the path to reaching your uh uh your target or
[22:07]not um and so uh how do we how do we find
[22:11]our target and then how do we make sure that we're working
[22:14]towards that target excellent excellent as as we said once you understand
[22:23]those two parts let's get into a little bit of business okay
[22:28]if you are looking towards business you need to start looking into
[22:34]accounting it's the number one thing so any business any formulation if
[22:41]you are let's say the target is to kind of hit that
[22:46]target let's say we're here to talk business okay business is a
[22:50]50 50 trade that's satisfactory for both sides i'm going to repeat
[22:54]that business is a 50 50 trade that's satisfactory for both sides
[23:00]and when you understand that that in business i have to lay
[23:08]out what my expectations i have to tell you what i want
[23:12]we have a lot of trouble with this overall we use relationship
[23:18]rules for business rules i'm gonna explain the difference in terms of
[23:24]the target if business is our target let's go into it just
[23:27]a little bit what are relationship rules and what are business rules
[23:31]really quickly okay relationship rules one of the main rules of relationships
[23:40]is you give without wanting anything in return who agrees with that
[23:48]imagine you go into your you know you get married and then
[23:53]your husband comes in and he's like you know what we signed
[23:57]a contract and all you guys go by is by your rights
[24:03]and his rights god help you okay at the end of the
[24:08]day when you start understanding that relationships are when i give you
[24:16]something i want nothing in return i do it because i want
[24:22]you to be happy i'm in servitude of my wife i'm in
[24:25]servitude of my husband oh okay that came out wrong anyways but
[24:31]from there these days allah said anyways so that's relationship rules business
[24:48]rules is a 50 50 trade meaning i have to lay out
[24:53]my expectations for the other person i have to state what i
[24:58]want i have to tell the person here are my expectations and
[25:02]the person says the same thing i get what i want and
[25:07]you get what you want it's an exchange so imagine right now
[25:13]let's say when somebody hears the word business and it has a
[25:17]negative connotation let me show you why business is so important imagine
[25:22]you had to right now go home and you have to build
[25:28]a fire inside your basement because you know what you don't want
[25:33]to trade with anyone because you don't want heat then you have
[25:36]to run the water you have to go get water because you
[25:40]don't want to pay the utility bill and then you know what
[25:46]i don't want to get gasoline because i don't want to trade
[25:51]why don't you try to invent every single one of those things
[25:53]what would happen or when the heat builds when the heat build
[26:03]comes we're more than happy to what trade we have to trade
[26:09]so on that level understand business is not a bad thing what
[26:17]did he do what was he he was a merchant he was
[26:26]a businessman so business is not bad okay here's what happens with
[26:29]this concept a lot of us we use relationship rules for what
[26:37]business rules why because we want people to trust us i go
[26:42]into business with you because i trust you and i tell you
[26:46]things you know what let's not write things down it's okay as
[26:52]we say in our culture it's okay doesn't matter you're using a
[27:00]moral system it doesn't work you're going to destroy the relationship and
[27:03]you're going to destroy the business whenever you're trading with anyone lay
[27:08]down your expectations have that be one of your goals in terms
[27:14]of a business understanding when you do that and you understand the
[27:17]differences between both sides then you go into business you can have
[27:22]great business relationships and great personal relationships a lot of my clients
[27:31]become my personal friends why because we do the business right we
[27:39]don't get in financial trouble we don't do that because you have
[27:46]to take care of the business side our community is growing in
[27:50]this and i love it i love what i'm seeing some of
[27:52]the youth are taking on some major projects and some of them
[28:00]in business government it's amazing what's happening in the community so seek
[28:06]drive go it doesn't matter if you have a business sense go
[28:11]after it so the target in terms of that and i'll give
[28:19]you one more thing just really quick if you want goals there
[28:24]are three types of goals process performance and outcome goals okay i'm
[28:29]going to repeat that i'm going to repeat it process performance and
[28:32]outcome goals what are these a process goal i'll start with the
[28:39]end an outcome goal think of an outcome as something like your
[28:46]final grade on in the semester okay that's an outcome goal a
[28:53]performance goal and a performance measure is something that that's your grade
[28:59]let's say on an exam and a process goal is the way
[29:07]you study so let's say you get your exam and you got
[29:12]a scene you didn't like it that means your process the way
[29:20]you study is not correct so you have to understand these things
[29:22]in the way they work process performance and outcome goals once you
[29:27]understand the stepping stone process you can really set things up man
[29:31]you can set a goal like a year to two years to
[29:35]five years from now you can hit it even early if you
[29:40]just understand how this stuff works your mind is programmed to get
[29:46]certain things and it's amazing if you download the right information in
[29:48]it and how you can take leadership over certain things so those
[29:54]are some of the things i would tell you so understand the
[29:57]way goals work but understand also what how business works versus relationships
[30:05]you know just kind of build off of what you said uh
[30:09]i think that also understanding like your why you know why you
[30:13]do what you do why you're doing what you're doing uh i
[30:16]think that that really influences your goals uh really helps you with
[30:19]attaining the targets that you're trying to attain attaining those goals that
[30:22]you're trying to hit um like an example of this uh i
[30:25]remember like when i was when i was training one of my
[30:29]colleagues uh you know she just didn't have any motivation at work
[30:33]like zero motivation and you know i mean we work in sales
[30:36]and like you know i mean i think you can agree uh
[30:38]nobody has the potential that a salesperson has like when it comes
[30:42]to money nobody has the potential that a sales person has because
[30:45]a salesperson owns their their their income you know you work hard
[30:50]you get rewarded for it you don't work hard you get you
[30:52]know equally what you put in and so for her i just
[30:55]saw that there was no motivation and so you know from talking
[30:58]to her i asked her i'm like you know why why did
[31:00]you get a job to begin with you know she's living with
[31:03]her mom she's divorced she's got a daughter and i told her
[31:06]why'd you work i mean if your mother you know she she
[31:08]does well and you know she's taking care of you and your
[31:10]daughter why did you get this job done you know why would
[31:12]you do this to yourself why would you put yourself through this
[31:15]and the more we started talking to her the more she realized
[31:19]like she just wants a better life for her daughter you know
[31:21]that's what's motivating her is her daughter and so we focused a
[31:25]lot on that and and you know just her changing her her
[31:29]perspective changing her mindset and seeing her daughter as her driving force
[31:32]uh instantly like we you know we saw a difference in her
[31:37]numbers her her work got new meaning there was new definition to
[31:39]what she was doing um because now she had a purpose she
[31:43]had like she knew her why right would you agree with that
[31:46]yes absolutely so taco you know i mean sure yeah i'll build
[31:49]off of what you just said so the first thing that comes
[31:53]to mind as as you're um kind of elaborating um how many
[31:58]people here don't like sales raise your hand it's okay raise your
[32:04]hand how many people well sales how many okay here let me
[32:11]say this how many people think a sales person is evil oh
[32:15]see you laugh there's those are giggles for for a reason because
[32:19]there's a negative connotation to sales what are you trying to sell
[32:25]me okay so as soon as someone tried let me give you
[32:27]a little bit of psychology first when someone tries to sell you
[32:34]something there's a part of your brain that activates and it's called
[32:40]counter argumentation i start looking for what's behind your words and i
[32:46]start checking uh this doesn't feel right something feels wrong you're trying
[32:50]to pitch me something so sales is looked at that way a
[32:56]salesperson per se is looked at as someone who's not someone who's
[33:03]let's say kind or gentle or they're trying to get one over
[33:12]you i'm sorry you're in sales too every single person is in
[33:19]sales because allah has programmed it that way embedded in choice is
[33:26]sales i'll give you an example call me we'll role play this
[33:32]is what sales people do that's role play okay so call me
[33:36]but i'm gonna pretend he's okay i can't say it's my wife
[33:39]i can't use it okay i'm just using all the wrong examples
[33:42]tonight um let's say okay he's my friend not my wife let's
[33:47]call me go ahead click i'm sorry go ahead come again that's
[33:53]supposed to be a joke anyways hello hi sam hi vivi how
[33:59]are you good how are you i'm excellent what are you doing
[34:01]uh just giving a talk what are you doing right now and
[34:07]you called me i feel very special okay uh you know after
[34:10]the talk what are you doing uh i go to sleep sleep
[34:16]yeah what time time what yeah 10 o'clock are you serious listen
[34:22]how about we go out and do something what do you have
[34:27]in mind you know what i was thinking of grabbing something to
[34:33]eat uh i kind of i don't know man i i got
[34:36]work in the morning come on man it's okay listen italian i
[34:40]know you're hungry i do like italian okay i don't know you
[34:44]know what chinese chinese oyaki oh yaki okay i haven't had chinese
[34:49]in a while but but you sure they're open right now you
[34:52]know what i'll call and check i'll pick you up in 15.
[34:57]just get ready click okay see but at the end of the
[35:03]day why is that important i have to learn how to negotiate
[35:09]and i'm again i'm going to give you some numbers i just
[35:15]negotiated with him when you start understanding you know what i'll role
[35:23]play with the audience now give me a second okay when was
[35:26]the first time you sold something give me something the first time
[35:32]you sold something go ahead okay how old were you okay eighth
[35:42]grade excellent anybody younger anybody sold something at a younger age go
[35:53]ahead yes i'm sorry a lemonade stand excellent how old were you
[36:02]first grade masha'allah okay anybody earlier you you raised your hand true
[36:14]yes excellent excellent okay so now let me take you even further
[36:24]when you first come out of your mother's womb don't you cry
[36:30]don't you influence someone don't you think that's a sale that's a
[36:40]sale sales is being able to influence because embedded in decisions is
[36:51]sales embedded in choice is sales allah has given us choice that
[36:55]means you have to pick right or left i'll take it even
[37:01]further with you it's two o'clock in the morning you're walking downstairs
[37:06]and your stomach is just it's calling you because you're hungry and
[37:13]you're just walking through the kitchen and you look left and there's
[37:18]the fridge and you remember there's double chocolate cake and now you're
[37:23]just standing there should i go should i not go and your
[37:30]foot just starts moving on its own doesn't even ask you it
[37:33]just goes on its own and now you're standing in front of
[37:37]the fridge and you open the door and there's the cake and
[37:40]it's got fruit inside of it too and now you got whipped
[37:44]cream should i eat the cake or not eat the cake eat
[37:51]the cake masha allah all you guys allah anyways diabetes.com okay so
[37:59]on that level i even sold myself that's a sale every decision
[38:10]you make is an option you chose that's a sale when you
[38:19]understand that sales is embedded in decision making that's the first thing
[38:24]second thing listen to this please okay people who don't negotiate who
[38:30]don't know how to negotiate could you give me a percentage of
[38:35]influence that they have people who don't learn negotiation skills and communication
[38:40]skills can anyone tell me how many out of a hundred conversations
[38:46]how many conversations no karim not you out of 100 conversations how
[38:57]many conversations can they influence five twenty anybody anybody else zero that's
[39:11]death you're gonna get lucky sometimes you're gonna stumble over something okay
[39:15]it's actually two percent it's two percent that's what studies indicate some
[39:25]other studies say a little bit more but it's about two percent
[39:33]does anybody know how many conversations you have per day don't look
[39:37]it up on google please don't ruin my punchline go ahead 500
[39:46]okay excellent way too high and that's all women talk about 8
[39:51]000 words per day okay men about 2 000 okay so really
[39:57]think about that one i'm sorry sisters but mashallah the talking comes
[40:03]from the other side but okay so tell me what is it
[40:10]okay it's actually 27 conversations per day the average person has 27
[40:16]conversations per day times that by 365 you'll get 9072 conversations per
[40:25]year and imagine you can only influence it two percent what do
[40:30]you think is going to happen to your self-esteem if you don't
[40:36]know how to negotiate and communicate for yourself now take it further
[40:45]sales you're not going through hey how are you conversations i'm doing
[40:51]great conversations you're so awesome you're in customer service that's not what
[40:55]you're doing you're actually going to a person's door you're knocking on
[40:59]the door and you're going to get rejected you're seeking rejection conversations
[41:06]those are much harder not a lot of people want to be
[41:15]rejected and not a lot of people seek rejection those are much
[41:20]tougher conversations when you get someone start to grow in their ability
[41:32]to negotiate wow you're becoming something different so number one the first
[41:38]law sales is innate sales skills are life skills that's number one
[41:46]number two the average person without negotiation skills and communication skills can
[41:51]only influence at two percent number three you have 27 conversations per
[41:59]day multiplied by 365 972 9072 conversations per year imagine you can
[42:07]only influence it two percent so you better learn how to negotiate
[42:14]and communicate for yourself because if you come across a person who's
[42:20]trained and who's seasoned in sales you're going to lose and you're
[42:25]going to lose big and some of them don't have a moral
[42:30]code but they know how to sell your own shoes and trust
[42:35]me that concept is real it's real some of the things i'm
[42:43]not going to talk about myself but some of the things that
[42:47]you can get someone to do and i'll just end with this
[42:53]i was giving a call there was about maybe 150 people on
[42:59]the call so it was a sales call and you can get
[43:02]to such a point of influence that i told this person to
[43:07]do a trust fall so i was telling i was showing about
[43:11]ability your own ability do you trust your own ability and i
[43:15]was going to give i was giving an example of how that
[43:19]works so i had two people come up and you know how
[43:21]you lay two two people behind each other okay and one person
[43:26]falls down falls backwards and the other person catches him then i
[43:32]told the person who's catching the other person to move away and
[43:38]now the person is standing and i told him to fall and
[43:47]he did it i'm like i'm joking what are you doing but
[43:50]that's the kind of influence you can have now alhamdulillah a guy
[43:56]jumped out of nowhere and grabbed them at the last second but
[44:00]the person did it that's how far people will trust you to
[44:07]that extent so you got to be very careful when you come
[44:15]across let's say you get weaponized with sales skills you got to
[44:19]be very careful with that because you can manipulate people very easily
[44:25]so at the end of the day learn how to negotiate and
[44:30]communicate for yourself learn because for the religion you have to represent
[44:37]as well you're a talking walking billboard bottom line that's a beautiful
[44:49]hadith so you also have to sell you sell your character then
[44:55]when somebody does something wrong you stand up and you say no
[44:59]when you walk into a business meeting and a woman reaches out
[45:05]her hand you go like this and you stand with your identity
[45:08]and you don't move and afterwards everyone is talking oh my god
[45:20]how did he do that on stage in front of everyone he
[45:24]went like that to the person who was getting a prize but
[45:29]then everybody goes to the ceo and says man we respect that
[45:35]guy those are not easy situations but you stand you represent and
[45:46]you're not afraid you hold your principles regardless of any situation you
[45:51]hold that you're proud and i can give you some psychology about
[45:55]this you have no idea how powerful this is even on the
[46:01]sales level you have no idea everybody's doing it now it is
[46:06]that's it we're done so uh just to disclaimer not all sales
[46:15]people are bad uh some of us are good um but i
[46:20]can definitely say that i've i've seen the two opposite spectrums you
[46:22]know like the ones that are laid back and then the ones
[46:25]that are you know that will sell you your shoes um so
[46:29]actually so like something that uh i think we should also talk
[46:35]about um is stocks and crypto and hajj i heard you're like
[46:37]really big on that yeah so did we take doji to the
[46:44]moon uh i think there's a beauty in in learning how to
[46:48]trade uh and trading is is something very very important i think
[46:52]a lot of people do understand you know what's happening with the
[46:56]world and how the world is actually changing changing now let's answer
[47:02]the first question are is tax haram okay a lot of people
[47:07]first thing okay stocks are haram okay stocks are not haram but
[47:14]what you buy may be haram so you got to be very
[47:19]careful okay so anything that you have just refer to someone that's
[47:22]knowledgeable in terms of the trading factor we have something called and
[47:27]refer to that if you're in business you should learn these things
[47:30]okay learn how to trade what happens in religiously in a contract
[47:36]if i leave the the vicinity of a place okay does that
[47:41]mean that the contract is void or non-void can i return or
[47:45]not return okay what what does islam say about these things it's
[47:49]very important for you to understand is a verbal contract binding okay
[47:53]if i tell you this is it binding these things are very
[47:57]important you should learn these things you have to if you're going
[48:00]to go into business you should learn okay you don't have to
[48:04]learn all the laws but learn the laws if learn the laws
[48:11]of business so that's that's the general concept of that so trading
[48:16]stocks is not haram but there's many things that can be haram
[48:22]in the stock world okay meaning there are certain things that are
[48:26]connected in certain ways and you don't know there's like m a
[48:31]companies okay merchant acquisition companies this is a blank check company meaning
[48:37]a comp some people get together they put a bunch of money
[48:43]together okay and they seek a company let's say a company's i'm
[48:47]not going to say there's a company actually that may have may
[48:50]do a reverse merger now and it's a really bad company i'm
[48:53]not going to say its name but it was totally haram but
[48:59]let's say you buy into that stock and not knowing that company
[49:04]is actually being bought that's a problem okay these things can be
[49:12]haram so yes and no you have to do your homework you
[49:16]have to understand what you're buying okay so that's number one number
[49:22]two don't be afraid of stocks okay i'm gonna give you just
[49:29]a small understanding from a person who's a laborer and a person
[49:34]who's an investor a laborer trades their time for money they exchange
[49:44]time for money an entrepreneur they put into their time value they're
[49:56]constantly learning they have to learn they're not a traitor they're an
[50:02]investor let's say we have a hundred dollars two hundred dollars five
[50:08]hundred dollars a thousand dollars let's say it's a thousand dollars the
[50:13]person who's an entrepreneur will invest first then spend later on themselves
[50:24]a person who's a let's say not an investor doesn't understand the
[50:28]concept of investing they will spend first then invest later just traverse
[50:34]that and i swear to you have no idea how far that
[50:39]will get you just that idea learn how to take a dollar
[50:43]and make it ten dollars employ your money your money is an
[50:49]employee of to you every dollar is it should be employed by
[50:55]you you should tell it hey how you doing and it's like
[50:57]hey i'm here what do you want me to do i need
[51:01]you to go out and get 10 more okay the dollar comes
[51:10]back look i got 10 more great i didn't have to do
[51:14]anything you did all the work that's investing so there's a difference
[51:18]between somebody who has that mindset and somebody who tries to save
[51:25]all the time a lot of us we just want to do
[51:29]what i just want to put it in the bank if it's
[51:32]in your pocket it's in the wrong place you should have it
[51:40]in something okay i'm going to give you a total equation in
[51:43]terms of then we'll refer back to the stocks but i'm going
[51:46]to give you an equation of how you should spend your money
[51:51]okay take this down please learn to live right now let's say
[51:55]you have thousand dollars in the bank okay learn to live on
[52:01]seventy percent of your money okay seventy percent of whatever you make
[52:08]you can do it a lot of people tell me no i'm
[52:12]like once i set this up with any client they can do
[52:17]it they can do it so take seventy percent of your income
[52:19]which is seven hundred dollars and learn how to live on that
[52:24]what should you do with the other thirty percent take ten percent
[52:31]and give it away trade with allah first what does allah say
[52:40]when you trade with him that's a guaranteed sale that's guaranteed you
[52:44]want anybody to hold your money that's absolute trust that is beyond
[52:51]belief that's the best trade you can do and you can look
[52:53]in the quranic verses of how much he gives back and you
[52:56]can do your homework there that's the best trade okay take ten
[52:59]percent and give give it away if you're if you're where's zach
[53:06]where is he is he sleeping okay if zach has a dollar
[53:12]teach him how to give away 10 cents take him somewhere take
[53:17]him somewhere like an orphanage take him somewhere where their old people
[53:20]exist and have them give a dime once they see that even
[53:26]kids it's amazing what will happen just give a dime 10 cents
[53:33]10 percent number two the other 10 you should trade with that
[53:39]10 percent take 100 and buy something and make it 200 learn
[53:47]how to invest learn how to trade learn how to buy and
[53:53]sell it's very easy you said lemonade stand right okay you were
[54:01]first grade okay mashallah excellent learn how to trade third time ten
[54:12]percent see if someone has more knowledge than you and give them
[54:18]that hundred dollars and say you know what you have more knowledge
[54:23]than i do invest this for me this is passive income now
[54:30]you have no idea what you've just learned if you just do
[54:33]those three things and what you can attain on a business level
[54:39]now you're talking passive income you can teach this to kids very
[54:44]it's very simple it's not hard 70 live on the income first
[54:53]ten percent give it away that's an investment in your hereafter okay
[55:01]learn how to invest number two you invest and buy and sell
[55:09]learn how to trade and number three give it to someone who
[55:14]knows more than you and we could trade that for you stocks
[55:17]with me alhamdulillah i have a mentor who is masha'allah okay a
[55:26]whole other level reason being is i've taken interest in these things
[55:36]and he was willing to mentor me stocks are not easy but
[55:42]it's if you get into stocks you will understand the worldly globe
[55:46]you will understand why things work you have to understand economics you
[55:52]have to know where your money is going track it understand it
[55:58]we have to we have to pay hummus at the end of
[56:02]the year you should be afraid of hummus because if you don't
[56:07]pay your hummus i'm sorry you're eating haram think about that what
[56:20]you buy is haram you're stealing that money is not yours allah
[56:27]has given it to you and he's you have you have it
[56:31]for a time but you have to allocate it properly so take
[56:33]account you have to take account accounting is huge so on that
[56:41]level stocks overall are not bad some of it is be careful
[56:51]and use that kind of that recipe and shot law so you
[56:54]can help yourself move forward okay so uh we got some questions
[56:59]from the audience uh we're just gonna go through and answer them
[57:01]but uh i believe has covered two of them one was if
[57:03]i have extra money should i invest it or donate it um
[57:07]i think both yeah and then how would homes work with the
[57:11]stocks or investments i think we covered that too okay um so
[57:15]we got a couple uh like questions that are very specific about
[57:19]stocks so like what are options etfs index funds uh futures so
[57:24]uh can you briefly uh so um when you when you have
[57:32]like calls and puts and that those are option trading okay an
[57:35]option is pretty much you buy a contract and you rent it's
[57:42]almost like renting it's renting someone else's stocks okay i'm gonna simplify
[57:47]it as much as possible and you actually buy a contract where
[57:53]you can be in the money out of the money at the
[57:57]money you could do these things that's not hard i'm not going
[57:59]to go too far into that it is somewhat twisted to understand
[58:03]a little bit but there's a lot of videos on youtube but
[58:07]there's a lot of stuff there okay i don't recommend option trading
[58:12]on at the beginning i don't recommend that i don't recommend that
[58:18]you set that up as your front line and front goal don't
[58:20]do that start with simple goals start with simple stocks i would
[58:25]tell you take that ten percent let's say you have a thousand
[58:31]dollars and invest it in common stocks okay look into a stock
[58:34]get an idea do your research go if you really want something
[58:39]i can i can help you see other people who are here
[58:43]there's a lot of people who really know this stuff and there's
[58:47]the youth especially is waking up to this stuff at a greater
[58:50]level to make money very early so go towards common stocks first
[58:57]then if you get really seasoned and you're capable go into options
[59:01]me personally i'm not gonna say say too much on it but
[59:07]i don't do options there's a reason i think i'm not sure
[59:11]about in terms of even our religion so i don't go towards
[59:16]options because there are certain things that i'm just not comfortable with
[59:19]okay uh i'm not gonna tell you not not to do it
[59:23]if you're good at it do it okay then there's there's swing
[59:27]trading okay there there are investors there are traders some people are
[59:32]like day traders they're in there 24 7 they're buying selling every
[59:36]single day some people are more like investors they take a stock
[59:42]and they buy really early okay and then they hold on to
[59:47]it for a longer period of time i tend to do stuff
[59:49]like that a little bit more but sometimes i day trade okay
[59:55]what i would tell you overall get a really good mentor if
[60:00]you can find one get a really good mentor you can make
[60:03]a lot of money in stocks but you can lose a lot
[60:06]of money as well you gotta know what you're doing but at
[60:11]the end of the day don't be afraid please don't be afraid
[60:15]take fifty dollars and just put it in there what do you
[60:18]it's fifty bucks it's fifty dollars two meals okay two meals 25
[60:28]bucks okay put it in there find a stock that you think
[60:31]is okay do your research and and go from there then you
[60:35]get a little more courageous now you wake up tomorrow and it's
[60:38]like oh my god it's a hundred dollars i made fifty dollars
[60:43]wow and you know like i'm getting good at this then you
[60:47]put in all your thousand dollars and the next day you lose
[60:53]it all do you have zoho do you really care about what
[60:55]happened or you're like pulling out your hair so in terms of
[61:00]these kinds of things i would tell you number one just get
[61:03]a really good mentor i have two three mentors myself i never
[61:06]lose my mentors these people are like anchored in my life and
[61:12]alhamdulillah do that get a financial person who can help you get
[61:21]someone if you want to get into business most people don't understand
[61:23]this concept number one the accounting thing that i told you about
[61:27]take account number two most people don't understand the industry they're in
[61:32]understand your industry understand the competition under especially if you want to
[61:38]get into business most people don't do enough because you're in competition
[61:45]the second you entered a sector in business you are in competition
[61:49]understand that so you have to know your industry you have to
[61:55]know your competitors you have to know who's around you who's trying
[61:59]to knock you down because they will so overall that's that um
[62:08]so actually since you mentioned mentors i did want to mention uh
[62:12]you know like i too have a mentor and uh so like
[62:15]my mentor he's been helping me for the last three years and
[62:18]you know like this is like this is where i was and
[62:21]then like had i just you know stayed just me by myself
[62:25]without a mentor i probably would have been right here but with
[62:27]a mentor you know you go way higher and the reason why
[62:31]is because uh your mentor should be somebody that knows more than
[62:35]you um somebody that is kind of like your third eye you
[62:38]know they see what you don't see when you are like in
[62:41]the midst of things like i can speak you know like just
[62:44]my experience with my business there were times where like i was
[62:49]really stressed i was really down and you know i was lucky
[62:51]enough to have my mentor there to help me see things through
[62:53]and not let my emotions get the best of me you know
[62:57]not let my emotions block me from seeing the potential that i
[63:01]have you know so so really like you know i think that
[63:04]that's like something very important i think we should all have a
[63:07]mentor um and the fact that you have three i'm assuming that
[63:09]each one covers like a different aspect of your life yeah yep
[63:12]um go ahead and go ahead yes um okay i always talk
[63:38]about mentors because if i wouldn't be here without mentorship i i
[63:44]honestly i'm telling you that i think we don't understand that in
[63:50]our community i don't think we really understand to what extent that
[63:54]is needed that's why i always say it i've had certain situations
[63:59]just to give you an example where i couldn't give the verdict
[64:03]i couldn't and you're talking sometimes millions of dollars you're making a
[64:10]decision on millions of dollars and like i'll give you an example
[64:17]the last decision was 2.7 million dollars and i had to make
[64:21]the decision with the ceo of the company so the situation took
[64:29]a really awkward turn and it pushed me to such a point
[64:35]that it was outside my knowledge i didn't have the knowledge because
[64:44]now there's so many variables actually activated it's it was just amazing
[64:52]where this thing ended up who do you think i called and
[64:57]then it turned so far that we had to actually call the
[65:02]jurist at a very high level why because it's outside your knowledge
[65:09]base so mentorship is very important because at the end of the
[65:17]day when you run out of information and you have nowhere to
[65:21]go and you give your own opinion good luck because you won't
[65:27]stay a mentor for very long so it's very important to understand
[65:33]that first of all second thing how do you find a mentor
[65:38]number one ask allah azzawajal that's the first thing i i was
[65:44]in a situation and i didn't want my friends anymore i didn't
[65:47]want certain people in my life and i just asked allah i
[65:51]said allah help me and i swear to you two weeks later
[65:58]i went somewhere came back i was a different person i left
[66:03]all my friends i'm not telling you to leave your friends okay
[66:07]if they're good people leave them so but at the end of
[66:11]the day that's what happened from there i found mentorship from higher
[66:17]people so ask allah that's number one number two number three there
[66:22]are many people who are coaching now okay in the community how
[66:27]many of you have heard a life coach now okay everyone has
[66:31]heard you know everyone understands what that is it's just a booming
[66:37]industry now so there are people who can do that i myself
[66:43]i'm setting up a program i have a program and it's based
[66:48]on these concepts of mentorship so i've taken a lot of the
[66:53]corporate end and i've brought it to the community factor where hopefully
[66:59]if the community is willing i'm more than willing for me as
[67:06]a person and i'm also training you know people how to be
[67:10]mentors and how to take on a certain level ali is here
[67:17]he's he just got certified as a life coach and there's another
[67:22]person who's going to be certified as well and he's ali's working
[67:25]with me so these things are starting to happen but what we
[67:31]literally do is we run a program about finances i have a
[67:37]kid right now masha'allah just hit 18 years he's 18 and a
[67:41]little bit he he's made about forty thousand dollars in stocks okay
[67:45]he just turned eighteen masha'allah another guy who's also here just bought
[67:50]a house he's 19 but he's also building for other houses now
[67:55]so they're under 20 so we have under 20 program and that's
[68:00]what we're trying to do i have kids masha allah who are
[68:03]right now 13 14 15 years of age and usually the program
[68:09]if you truly want to be trained it will take you about
[68:13]two years of hard work two years if you can hit the
[68:17]two-year level then the third year is much easier but if you
[68:21]can hit three years of mentorship for me when i was being
[68:23]mentored i took me five years i was under somebody for five
[68:29]hard years well you don't say i want to do this and
[68:31]i want to know they tell you no do that and that's
[68:37]it that's mentorship you give up control not a lot of people
[68:40]want to give up control they don't they want the ego is
[68:43]too big i know everything and no submission of the ego is
[68:50]very important so these are some of the things that we're doing
[68:55]for the community insha allah insha allah that i really believe it's
[68:59]gonna it's gonna do really well i really believe because i have
[69:03]clients who have been with me and this same program that i
[69:08]ran with them i'm running now here and some of the stuff
[69:14]that i've sold alhamdulillah in terms of my content for thousands and
[69:19]thousands of dollars i'm making it readily available for people for just
[69:24]pennies on the dollar in terms of what it's really has costed
[69:28]other companies so what i'm trying to do is give some kind
[69:35]of leeway for you to kind of expand yourself but to me
[69:38]here's the key learn how to spend on yourself because you're not
[69:44]a cheap product you're not i've spent thousands and thousands of dollars
[69:50]on my own why development one class i took just to learn
[69:56]how to speak it was two years ago cost me six thousand
[70:02]dollars you have no idea how much money i've made from that
[70:11]six thousand dollars that's an investment when i invest that i can
[70:19]quadruple it i can take it 10 times higher with the information
[70:21]i just learned so on that level i'm we're trying to give
[70:28]you as much mentors as possible uh it's there suspend your ego
[70:34]be willing to pay for for your own you know what i
[70:39]mean uh a lot of you want to become doctors almost a
[70:42]half a million dollars in debt you know it's that's really what's
[70:45]happening you're investing into your future that's what you're doing so learn
[70:52]how to do that because you're responsible for your own knowledge and
[70:55]at the end of the day you're not a cheap product don't
[70:58]take yourself as cheap and when somebody asks me you know i
[71:01]with my friends when somebody wants to give me a like let's
[71:05]say i go to one of you jalal was here last week
[71:09]jalal's a lawyer and i called him up one day and i
[71:12]told him like listen i need a contract i just got this
[71:15]contract i need you to write up a contract he's like okay
[71:18]has no problem whatever then it comes time to pay but me
[71:22]and him are what business don't go into relationship i don't want
[71:26]relationship this is what i told him i said teach me how
[71:32]to invest in a good product don't give me a deal i
[71:40]don't want a deal from you i want you to take what
[71:45]you have when all that time and that money you spent all
[71:48]that time in that money just to learn that information don't give
[71:51]me a deal i don't want a deal don't teach me how
[71:56]to save teach me how to invest in a good product you
[72:00]gave me a little bit off i was happy with that it's
[72:04]all i wanted let's treat each other that way let's reward the
[72:11]hierarchy of knowledge let's reward it don't be afraid don't somebody comes
[72:15]to you said like uh okay i'll do this for a hundred
[72:22]bucks you know it's worth 500.
[72:23]give them 400 can you do that that's not easy to do
[72:31]can we reward each other like that or is your money so
[72:38]it's like no way i'm not i can't let it go because
[72:40]it's so attached to your heart so we're trying to do that
[72:46]in sha allah and inshaallah it talk to me afterwards and and
[72:53]we can i can kind of guide you in terms of these
[72:55]kinds of things but listen the community is a beautiful community it's
[73:03]a beautiful community subhanallah how far like jalal says something beautiful all
[73:08]the time he says we stand on the shoulders of giants we
[73:12]do we do masha'allah our forefathers in a way what they laid
[73:17]down is amazing go after it go after business make wealth there's
[73:23]nothing wrong with that but learn how to use it all right
[73:28]so as you were speaking and to answer your question so there's
[73:34]something that i heard from from an author by the name of
[73:38]earl nightingale where he says the things that are most valuable to
[73:43]us we got for free and the things that we pay for
[73:45]are basically worthless okay um so what does that mean like what
[73:50]are some things that we got for free like our body our
[73:52]mind that's the biggest thing um and then what are some things
[73:56]that we pay for a house and a lamborghini right so if
[73:59]your house burns down you can you can replace it if you're
[74:02]if your lamborghini you know you crash it you can replace it
[74:05]but if your mind if something happens to your brain can you
[74:10]replace that you can't so invest in your brain focus on investing
[74:13]like you know growing as as you know growing your knowledge um
[74:17]becoming a better person let that be your focus and and don't
[74:21]focus too much on on the material things because the material things
[74:24]they come and go but what's in here it's gonna stay with
[74:26]you for you know until you die um and so i'll tell
[74:31]you guys a story about how i met my mentor um it
[74:34]was actually like right outside where that you know the thing to
[74:37]check your your uh your temperature it was right right out there
[74:41]i was setting up for h3 trans like my uh my business
[74:44]and he came up to me and he started moving things around
[74:48]he's like yeah you got your whole display wrong and he started
[74:50]like moving things around and he was explaining to me why i
[74:53]had to set it up in a certain way he was telling
[74:54]me like you had to have everything symmetrical like you know your
[74:58]displays have to be centered and then just you know build from
[75:00]the center out uh because it's more appealing to this you know
[75:03]to the eye and all that and then up to that point
[75:07]i never let anybody tell me how to do what i'm doing
[75:08]uh like it's the ego you know my ego was so high
[75:12]that like look this is what i started i'm gonna i'm gonna
[75:15]build this and you know it's gonna be my name that people
[75:17]are saying and so when he came up to me and started
[75:20]telling me all these things i realized how little i knew about
[75:23]how to run a business and and so like i started asking
[75:28]them questions and then you know that we talked for like a
[75:31]good two hours and then we met up like a week later
[75:35]and then we've been meeting ever since and i know it sounds
[75:37]like a love story and that's because like when you have a
[75:39]mentor it really does become a love story it's it's you know
[75:42]this is the person you go to much worse than just yeah
[75:45]i mean if i could marry him i would um yeah i
[75:49]told you i was saying the wrong thing yeah no i i
[75:53]know what i'm saying no i'm just kidding but uh but yeah
[75:56]having a good mentor is really important and uh you know just
[76:00]put your ego to the side you know we see the world
[76:05]so one way that it hurts when somebody else tries to come
[76:07]and tell us that no maybe you should start looking at it
[76:10]from this perspective uh but sometimes we do need that like a
[76:12]lot of us do need that and i think uh this would
[76:17]be a good time to conclude i'm sorry we didn't get to
[76:18]all the questions um but thank you thank you and thank you
[76:26]guys for the opportunity muhammad thank you sam thank you brother ali
[76:44]so hach final answer get that lambo or no buy that lambo
[76:47]with thank you so much for your presentation let's have another
